We had a wonderful time in Porto. Our stay at the B The Guest Downtown was fabulous from the moment we arrived to the final goodbye today when we left. The location was great. The breakfast team Sonaia, Carla and Carol were brilliant, nothing was too much trouble and the freshly served food was a delight. With changes everyday. We were treated to a feast everyday to start the day off properly. We will definitely return for another stay when we are in Porto again.

The hotel is difficult to locate, Google maps takes you to one street over. When you find the front door it looks like an apartment entrance in a row of shops. Then you have to climb stairs. But it is worth the effort. Great staff and service. Lots of character and very clean.

This hotel is perfectly located to visit Porto on foot. The rooms are good and the staff is super nice and helpful. The parking via catarina less than 100 meters is not excessive (22€ for 2 days). I can only recommend this hotel

Very good location. Be careful or you’ll pass right by it. The front door looks like a door to an apartment. The name is on the door. If you arrive before check in, they have a very comfortable lounge to wait at. A very convenient grocery store is just down the block from the hotel. Very walkable to many sights.

A lovely stay here. A good-sized room and bathroom with a comfortable bed and mini-bar. Really friendly staff and a welcome drink with cake on arrival! They gave us good recommendations for restaurants and boat trips on the Douro River. We stayed here for a week and really enjoyed it. We would definitely stay here again.

The area around the property seemed quite safe. There were a lot of food options around and the hotel is located right in front of a lovely food market. The staff was incredibly nice, attentive, and caring. The room was big and spacious. The only improvements I would suggest is to increase the brightness in the bathroom given the tiling is dark, and to ensure there are no bugs in the room before guests check in as there were two flies and a mosquito in our room which we had to chase to get rid of. We would stay at this location again.

With roomy, comfortable rooms, and a great location across from the Mercado do Bolhao, this was the perfect place for our stay in Porto. The front desk host, Anna, was friendly and extremely helpful in guiding us to some of the top spots to visit in Porto. She was also very accommodating in making sure we had breakfast available prior to regular breakfast hours on the day we left early for a Duoro Wine Tour. Thank you, Anna. We are looking forward to our return to B the Guest Downtown!

We can not say enough good things to say about this beautiful hotel. The front desk girls went above and beyond to make us familiar with the area and were a joy to chat with. Well, what can I say about this hotel. Superb in every way. Maria the receptionist is the most lovely, helpful, caring receptionist I have ever met, she could not do enough for us. There is only 11 rooms so it didn't feel busy, breakfast was good, with a good selection and freshly prepared eggs. The rooms were nice, the location was amazing (right opposite a massive Indoor Market selling all sorts of produce) and next door to the most amazing bakery.
Only downsides to the hotel were no lift, but it's only 3 floors and our bag was put in our room for us when we arrived.

While the location was clean and quiet and convenient, it was really the staff that made our stay special. Maria, Anna and Tiago went out of their way to help us out. We had trouble accessing entry tickets to Livraria Llelo and Tiago spent a lot of time going through the process online to print tickets for us. Anna joined us in a lovely conversation over glasses of complimentary port and Maria provided such a gracious and friendly checkin. The breakfasts here were the best of the ten or so on our trip and a very nice young man hailed us an Uber at checkout when there were no taxis available using his account to do so.

My husband and I stayed for two nights in April, 2022. We loved the location and the daily breakfasts. We had an early train to catch on our last day, the breakfast staff came in early to make sure we had breakfast before leaving! Very nice assortment of foods available. Highly recommend this boutique hotel. There are stairs involved so be aware if this would be an issue for you.

the hotel is at a good location near downtown with easy access to the main Porto attractions. however as it is in an old building, no lift for guest, but the staff is helpful in helping to carry the luggage up.

Great location and a VERY helpful and attentive staff. Our room had a small enclosed balcony, great for an evening glass of wine or morning coffee. There is no lift for persons, so people with mobility issues might have a problem. We are in our late 60s and it wasn't a big deal for us. Great value for the price.

From the welcome to leaving we were made to feel at home, a lovely friendly hotel. The room was a good size and comfortable. The breakfast was plentiful and fresh. We were asked every morning if we wanted eggs and how we would like them cooked.
A free glass of port on our welcome and some great suggestions of places to go, certainly helped us. Would recommend this hotel.
The only downside, and totally out of the hands of the hotel, is the Market opposite is being renovated, no noise affected us, but you have to walk round the block to get to everything, don't let that put you off though.

I could not say enough about the staff. They were friendly and willing to help us explore Porto and even booked our dinner reservations. They even prepared us a special take away breakfast for our early leave at 5:00 AM. The hotel is well located with various shopping and eateries in the area.

Lovely hotel in the middle of Porto with all the main sights within walking distance. Don’t let the entrance, just a door directly onto the street put you off, behind it the hotel opens out to cool and beautiful public areas and excellent bedrooms.

I'm sad to write this review as the people were very friendly, the location was ideal and the bar and lounge area were lovely. A free welcome glass of port was a nice touch and breakfast was included. However, the room was unbelievably loud. Every time the neighbors either above or next to us arrived home I was awoken or unable to sleep. It is simply not soundproof enough to be a hotel that I would go back to. The room shook when neighbors walked and furniture moving produced screeching. Earplugs and white noise machines did not compensate.

Antonio was very helpful, as well as the woman who was preparing breakfast in the morning who called me a taxi and made sure I didn't miss my train!

It is in a perfectly convenient location in Porto Old Town area. Everything is in walking distance. Be aware, though, that if you are mobility impaired in any way, this is not for you. There is a steep stairway up to where you check in, so you must carry your luggage up the steps. Once checked in, there is a “dumbwaiter” for your luggage but you may have to walk up to three more flights of steps depending on where your room is located. Friendly, helpful staff, clean rooms, wonder breakfast included (eggs made to order), convenient location... all is well! Thank you Marta and Vitória, for making our stay memorable.
