The resort is very self sufficient with Outdoor and indoor pool, beach access, spa, playgrounds. It is in a residential neighborhood. Porto downtown is around 30m drive from here.

We’re a family of 2 adults and 2 kids and I had to book 2 hotel rooms in this hotel which is absolutely crazy to me since I’ve been able to book 1 room for the 4 of us in every hotel I’ve been to. The rooms are spacious and the bed is big so there’s no need to have this policy for 2 little kids. Overall the hotel is really nice, good breakfast and the pool and playground are great too. But to have to book 2 rooms just because there’s 2 kids is a real inconvenience.

No complimentary tea or coffee throughout our stay. It’s quite common for hotels to restock these items daily, so only getting them on arrival—and having to purchase basics like milk afterward—feels a bit stingy.

Only complaint is ths bed is hard, but all the hotels this trip the beds are hard so maybe its a thing in Spain and Portugal.

No hot tub.. they have thermal spa. You have to make a reservation and its 17euros per person

Very impressive hotel, lovely spacious communal areas on ground floor. Very clean. Good food in main restaurant, buffet on two nights we were there, menu on the other night. The pool area was lovely. The coffee shop was open for lunch the first day, then closed for the season which was a shame. Lovely indoor spa and pool but you need a swimming cap for the pool. The sauna, steam room and shower was split by men and women but was inside the pool area rather than in the spa itself. Room was spacious, good prices in mini bar. Great shower. Two sinks in bathroom. Robes and slippers provided.
An uber to Porto costs about €19. Well worth it but you can walk to Granja station in 20 mins and catch the train in for €2.40.
Walking distance to bars and restaurants in Espinho down the boardwalk. Enjoyed seafood at A Cabana and walked back in 20 mins. The bar nearest to the hotel at the boardwalk is cheap and on the beach.

This was by far one of the nicest hotels we stayed in while in Portugal. The property is beautiful, and perfectly manicured. The hotel has a luxurious feel with so many amenities for the whole family. Game rooms, outdoor areas, indoor/outdoor pools. The tunnel with direct yet secure access to the beach was a nice bonus. The room was wonderfully stocked and has a large 4 piece bathroom. Room service 24hours unbeatable. The highlight of the resort style hotel for us was the extremely courteous and friendly staff. Highly recommend for family holiday!

Fantastic hotel with great views

The hotel itself is wonderful with great amenities, on the beach , amazing breakfast and the staff were fantastic. The bed was so comfortable and I loved the in room bath. Walking distance to supermarket etc and great beach walks. Our only complaint is that we went 130 kms out of our way to stay here specifically because of the indoor pool And steam /turkish bath facilities- having just walked the 320 km Camino walk. On arrival (we booked the day prior) we found the pool
Was closed due to an accident (which I understand). However the next morning and our only full day which we planned to relax and use the sauna etc they decided to also close these facilities. So our only option was a cold outdoor pool which was not ideal. It would have been nice of we were notified of these closures prior to or on arrival because to be honest we would have sourced another hotel with the facilities we specifically wanted. No one could give me an answer as to why the sauna etc was closed so I am None the wiser.
Very disappointing to what would have otherwise been a fantastic stay.

Great location, great beach and pool, lovely rooms

This is a lovely 1970's resort hotel that has been updated. The spa and pool area are fantastic. You can access the beach and beach trail which is simply gorgeous. Most rooms have private balconies with ocean views. The hotel restaurant service was horrible and the food was almost inedible at dinner. Breakfast was fine, but very crowded.

Great place, slightly far from Porto district but the free shuttle provided by the hotel to & back compensates for that. Close to beach, loved the boardwalk to the beach. Both indoor and outdoor pool options. Great breakfast spread, Electric car charging on the property. All in all a great place to stay!!

Located just outside Espinho, but around a 2km walk along the broadwalk, which you can access at the rear of the hotel. Or a little bit more than 2km if you go via the main road, but with wide sidewalks. Uber here is the cheapest I’ve seen so around £5. The beach outside the hotel is rocky, but another 5 min walk to the left, you can find a sandy area.
We arrived early and was allowed to make use of the facilities until our room was ready at 4pm.
The staff were top notch and made us feel very welcome.
The breakfast was included and had a great selection.
The room was a good size and cleaned everyday.
This hotel is across from a Lidl supermarket incase you need to grab anything.
I’ll also like to mention there are 2 saltwater pools but for indoor one, please pack your swim cap. There are plenty of chairs available indoor and outdoors.
There is a hotel shuttle that takes you into Porto at 10am each morning if you want to go do some historical and wine tasting tours. If you are into casinos Espinho also has a casino.
I would definitely stay here again!

Superb ! Staff super friendly, special mention to the restaurant staff , they were amazing as was the food, and the cleaning staff, it was the small touches that made all the difference, I really felt like I was being cared for. The salt water swimming pools were great , you can literally just float your woes away . A really quiet and calm atmosphere in the hotel Large safe outdoor parking . I could go on and on . The hotel and staff were all amazing. I do find I have to mention a couple of things though. When you stay in any hotel above 3 star, you expect to have a kettle and tea/coffee facilities in the room. This is not the case here. I had to request this and I was charged €19, which to me is unfair. I asked for an iron which didn’t work, it was changed two days after and then the next day, it was taken away. Why can’t this 5 star property have kettles & irons in every room.??
The staff I must mention are: Ana & Sofia at reception.
Antonio at the door.
Cècilia & Antonio in the breakfast/dining room. These members of staff went out of their way to help in any way requested, be it for directions, transport, food requests and just generally, very welcoming.
Loved the place, the location and having a free hotel shuttle to & from the town centre everyday is amazing, thank you.

The service in the hotel reception was mixed - initially terrible, a woman who was rude and unhelpful. She was later replaced by better staff but their attitude remained largely cold and unhelpful. The facilities are disappointing and the hotel charges for everything - including a €22 for 1 hour use of the tennis courts and rackets. The shuttle service was unavailable while we were staying which meant an expensive half hour taxi ride into town. Would never visit this hotel again and would advise others against it.

As it was the end of the season some of the decor and equipment showed signs of tiredness but that would only be expected in October. We preferred to eat out so cannot really rate the restaurant but breakfasts were varied and copious.
We would have liked to have had tea and coffee making facilities in the room for that early morning cuppa.
The gym and pools, which we used every day, were great and the walk to the highly dramatic beach was convenient.

Property has a nice pool area. The beach area is rocky. The costumer service was horrible, checking in the staff was incredibly rude and there were hidden fees for everything. Not accommodating, got a room meant for people with disabilities with no shower or bathtub. Had to request a new room, was told to wait. The hotel is far from a 5 star hotel maybe in the 70s but most definitely not in his century. Also beware you will be isolated from everything if you don’t have a car all restaurants, cafes are 20-30 mins walk.

We have been visiting this property for 10 years and always have a great visit. Their biggest asset is their staff. They are friendly professional and we now consider many of them friends. They have continued to make small improvements to the public areas which enhances your experience. There were a little niggles in the bedrooms (a cracked tile, bit of mold) which may indicate the need for a makeover. Overall we enjoyed our stay and will return again.

Nice hotel right on the beach!

We had a great 8-day stay at this hotel. The breakfast is good. We stayed in October, but the outdoor pool was heated to 28c. The beach they are on is also peaceful and doesn't seem it would ever be too busy. The restaurant for dinner isn't a good value compared to how prices go in Portugal however, not a big surprise though.

Beautiful grounds around hotel but not sure the hotel itself justify a 5 star.
The spa is lovely and the breakfast is plentiful with assortment of fresh fruit.
The room was ok but shower wasn’t great (with a shower curtain) so we found the spa shower much better.
The complimentary wash items consisted of a body wash/shampoo. Even 3 star hotels have body creams. As we travelled with only hand luggage we had to purchase these items and left them behind when leaving.

The location of the hotel , is not really suitable if your not driving or taking cabs everywhere, as there is no local restaurants , and no sightseeing views for tourists. All there is , a Lidl supermarket literally 2 mins away, and the McDonalds is a 20 min walk . Location is not the best

We stayed at Solverde for 4 nights. The outdoor swimming pool was heated so we managed to swim in late October. We played mini golf, pool and chess for free of charge. They gave us towel vouchers that could be exchanged to beach towels. Wearing a swimming cap in the indoor swimming pool was mandatory. We only used the outdoor swimming pool. They gave us free Porto wine vouchers for two adults. When we had the wine, the nice lady at the bar gave us a free drink for our child. The location is 15-20 mins walk from Granja station. We walked on the busy road for the first few journeys then discovered a nice route on the beach. They provide free shuttle services to Porto or Espinho twice a day with max 8 passengers so better to book in advance. Not much restaurant choices around the hotel. We tried few restaurants around Granja station. We took a taxi to Espinho (6 Euro per journey) and train to Porto for dinner too. Good breakfast buffet but the selection of food did not change over 4 days.

It was too far from any kind of attraction .citicenter way too fat . Good for a person who wants to be away from everything . Relax & take complete rest & relax action . Not meant for people who want to do sightseeing , shopping & any attractions . No water in the room . Either you have to go to the bar & buy water , or walk far to buy even water . I wouldn’t recommend for people who wants be in the city & sight seeing .

When I arrive to the hotel the staff tried to give me a room with no see sight and twin beds by telling me that was the room I reserved. After claiming for my reservation during 15 minutes the staff upgraded the room they were giving to me. Very rude service denying everything from the beginning and not offering solutions until I asked for cancellation of my reservation.

Disappointing overall for a supposedly 5 star hotel.
No tea & coffee making facilities in room.
No bottled water supplied.
Beach is classed as not suitable for swimming due to the large number of rocks.
To use the indoor pool they insist that you where a swimming cap, which have to be purchased - not supplied free to residents.
Pool area staff unhelpful - when asked if the water dispenser bottle could be replaced we were told maybe later.
Reception staff comment to the issues above when we raised them was 'Please feel free to fill in the feedback form in the room'.
Would be an adequate 3 star hotel - cannot imagine how they were graded 5 star.

Hotel Solverde is amazing. 5-star hotel at a great price. It's location in Espinho is not too far from the city centre- about 6 minutes and 6-7 euros by taxi. There is a McDonalds about 15 minutes walk and a Lidl about 3 minutes away. The hotel was neat and beautifully decorated for the festive period. The room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was quite good. A lot of options. If you're looking to visit Porto, the hotel is about 25 minutes away from Espinho by train. I would definitely recommend it.

Location is great for those wanting to be by the beach, away from city, but not ideal if using public transport (shuttle available but only twice into city and once back... Need to take care with timings). Staff were excellent but I wouldn't rate hotel as 5*. Facilities were there but hotel looks a bit tired. Missing touches such as no kettle in room. Daily chocolate was lovely gesture.

Stayed at Solverde last year but this year the standards really dropped. Booked in for 3 weeks. First week was great but the last week was poor. Lack of staff, cafe closed, drinks hit by pool closed, defective gym equipment, paid over 3k but still charging for mini golf and swimming caps that you have to use in the indoor pool. Restaurant really expensive and whilst the food is nice there is no change to the menu. My mother required a disabled toilet but no rooms available with one, just one in the Lobby which meant a trip from the third floor everytime the loo was needed. Last week the hotel was full of corporate firms and some raucous guests partying at 0130 keeping everyone awake.NOT value for money.

Great dramatic natural beach

Replace 5 star with 4 star and you are about right. Even so, exceptional value, and the gym and spa are great. The location is near to an amazing beach with massive rollers all day, though the sea is cold. This was our second visit, and the walk along either the beach or boardwalk to Espinho is a 3km pleasure. We will return.

It's a nice hotel, friendly staff, about 30 min from airport by car. Spa is very complete but pricey, for Portugal standards. The beach in front of hotel is unfortunately too wild to be used. Pool areas are very good, both outdoor and indoor. Big gym available.
The guestrooms seemed a little outdated, but still comfortable. I think they should replace shower curtains for something modern and more hygienic, and also the hair dryers are very old fashioned.
Breakfast was very good. The surroundings are kinda empty, but you find a supermarket, gas station and pharmacy nearby.
Overall, I really liked my stay there and would go back.

Shame that the bathroom is so outdated shower curtains over the bath/ bidet/ashtray in the bathroom 👎 The rooms, the pool area and the beach were lovely as was the nearby village

Wonderful staff made my stay

A comfortable hotel with wonderful staff, however it is definitely not 5* and it is definitely not in Porto! It is about 25 minutes walk to Granja and Esphino, which don't have much happening, but do provide eating out options and train links to Porto. Food at the hotel is ok, options are very limited and very expensive for what it is. Spa facilities are ok and not included in room rate. (Hot tub €10 per hour!) Standard rooms overlook busy duel carriageway. Comfortable beds. Limited TV options. No tea/coffee facilities. Bathroom very clean but dated. Gym is excellent, pools are great and there's direct access to a wonderful beach.
This is a 4* hotel with a 5* pricing structure. so represents poor value for money.
