Wonderful stay with outstanding concierge service

I had a wonderful time at this property. The energy of the place is so welcoming, and the room itself was beautiful, spacious, and comfortable. The view was nice, though the “lake view” is a bit too far away to really enjoy from the room. Aside from that, everything was perfect.

Check-in was smooth and they even accommodated me early, which I really appreciated. The highlight of my stay was Vince, the concierge. He was absolutely amazing, helpful with every question I had, especially about navigating to the Glacier Express and getting around the area. His magical personality made everything feel easy and memorable.

Overall, a fantastic stay that I would definitely recommend!

Intercontinental is a beautiful hotel with very nice grounds. The only issue is that is a taxi ride from everything. You cannot simply walk around town and shop. You have to get in some kind of a transportation to get to all those areas.

The staff made our honeymoon stay exceptional! Vincent, the concierge is such a pleasure and has a real passion for service. He provided us with detailed maps and recommendations for our outings. The breakfast buffet is unmatched and the service is attentive with additional menu offerings for no additional cost. Our room was modern, clean, and very comfortable with a view of the lake. Highly recommend and would stay again!

Really disappointed in our choice for the stay in Geneva. The property is severely outdated. The room we had on the 15th floor was like out of the 70s. It has not been remodeled in at least 30 years. The bathroom is cramped even for 1 person to be in there. All the fixtures - toilet sink, bath, lighting ceiling are ancient. Horrible claustrophobic feeling being in that bathroom really. We dreaded climbing into that bathtab and taking a shower. The water kept changing from hot to cold. Windows are old and we could hear outside noise even from 15th floor. The room is poorly designed, very uncomfortable bed, clunky position of furniture. Useless closet space and 2 hallways within the room. Their only restaurant is closed for dinner on Sundays! For a hotel this size and given there are limited dining options in the area - this is really bad. We had no options but to eat at the bar one night, as it was raining heavily. The food was very tasteless and more of a low-end diner level. The carpets in the bar area were old, stained and repulsive.for a 5-star hotel in Geneva - this was NOT it! It might've been a 5-star in 1964... Very underwhelming, disappointing and sad. It needs to be demolished and re-built. Also very far from the city center. Not much around.

I enjoyed the ability to take a bus so easily downtown. But I was not thrilled about my room. It seemed outdated with no charging capabilities near my bedside, and the big round table at the end was so out of place that it looked like it was put there as storage. The hallway of storage was excessive. How do you use so much space and make a room feel so cramped at the same time? Not a fan, especially when traveling for business and need of convenience in a room.

Stunning hotel, very near to the train station and UN attraction. You get free travel but I was only told about this when I arrived. It would have been useful to have at the airport. The hotel is modern and the staff are polite and very helpful. The only downside was the bathroom decore. It was very old fashioned compared to the rest of the hotel. I will stay here again.

Our Stay well we were excited to visit Geneve for the first time and looking forward to our stay.

Our room was ok apart from the bathroom which was pretty tired and dated.

At night it was noisy due to every time the elevator arrived at our floor it would play a tune which disturbed our sleep.

Breakfast the food was ok , but it was chaos with the staff ,orderd poached eggs and it took over 30mins to arrived had to ask the staff to many times.

The pool area was nice and welcoming.

Would not book again as it was not value for money !

300 Swiss franks. Hard uncomfortable mattress, probably the worst I’ve slept on. View over a huge parking field, nothing else (even from 10th floor). You hear the road parallel to it. Room right by the lift and you hear it, small room, no kettle. Why they didn’t give me a better room while the hotel was nearly completely empty? Pool closed most of the year. In the bar I had to search for the waitress twice, then a waiter replaced her but was making familiar comments on my appearance. Odd experience.

Honestly, just an \"OK\" hotel - there are a lot nicer places you can stay in Geneve, and hotels of similar quality can likely be found for less cost. Had a very unfortunate experience at the pool, where I was turned away and told there was no room for me (despite a number of vacant lounge chairs visible - suppose maybe I didn't look the part?) - which seems quite strange, as a guest of the hotel that I would be barred from using the facilities for no apparent reason. The rude staff left quite a poor taste in my mouth (quite honestly, I left the pool area feeling humiliated and dejected!), I would not stay here again. The hotel is also not in walking distance of restaurants, shops, etc.

First the good points:
Staff were exceptionally nice, friendly and helpful.
Room service and restaurant quality just excellent. Club sandwich was perfect, creme brulee was generous and nice, pasta was exceptional. Breakfast buffet was very good. Don't forget to order the included fish of the day - the salmon was just so delicious.
Room and gym has complimentary water bottles.
Room was as expected of a 5 star hotel except the following:
Shower head was leaking water, and the temperature was quite unstable, every minute or so the water will become very hot. Also tall people beware of your head in the bath.
The mattress was a bit soft, probably worn out and time for a new one.

Overall an excellent stay.

a bit far from old town so either a bus or 20-25 euro taxi ride to most restaurants, things to see; also very disappointing experience one night when we ordered a drink by the pool and it never came nor did anyone ever some tell us they weren't able to bring it - I raised this to the front desk and no one ever contacted me - I would have expected better; also there was a high profile guest at the hotel so there was lots of police and security folks which made the environment feel not as relaxing ; also only 1-2 restaurants near the hotel so limited options for B, L and D outside the very expensive hotel restaurant

The hotel was below the standard I would expect and the service was sub par. We booked the hotel specifically for the pool as advertised but upon asking where the pool was, they said it was closed for refurbishment! So it's advertising facilities you can't actually access!

I had requested for some milk to be provided to the room in order to make tea, coffee, chocolate however they replied with, \"that will come at a cost\". They wanted to charge me 8 CHF for some milk. I wouldn't expect such a brand to be so stingy. I would understand had I asked for a litre/pint of it...

Room was smaller than I imagined and the bathroom was missing items and dirty. They were more than happy to provide the missing items. Views were non-existent in the room I stayed in. Walls are thin and I could here next door whenever they go into their ensuite. Shower did not maintain a decent temperature and instead kept going really hot then ice cold even without any adjustment.

Continental breakfast was worth the money at 30 CHF per head for unlimited cold food (would need to pay more for hot food). Included things like wide range of fruit, cold meats, selection of croissants, biscuits, tea cakes, yoghurt, cheese and freshly squeezed fruit juice. Hot drinks were also included. No hassle here and good service was provided although someone had left bread in the toaster and made a cloud of smoke ruining our meal.

For the price we paid, I expected better service as they didn't really care too much.

Spacious hotel and conveniently situated

This was our first visit to Switzerland and the hotel proved to be a very comfortable base for our visit.
We had a spacious executive room which was exceptionally clean. Nice welcome touches on arrival - fresh fruit and Swiss chocolate.
We used the restaurant each day for breakfast (included in our room rate) and were pleased with the wide variety of both cold and hot food available.

We stayed at the Intercontinental in Geneva because it is soundproof and away from noise. That was the most important for us with kids who we knew would still be struggling to adapt to a different time zone. The hotel is nice, but it's far away from downtown yet close to the airport. The rooms are small unless you really want to pay up for it. It's ultimately not a great propert for. Holders as it is predominately business folks and a little stiff. Weight your options and choose what is most important to you. It is overpriced even for Geneva.

Disproportionately expensive for kids meals

We had a one night stay in the hotel (2 adults and two kids under 10), and loved everything (the room was clean and comfortable and the staff were lovely and helpful) APART from (1) the noise from the traffic as we had a lake view room, and (2) the prices of the food. I mean, we were aware that Geneva is an expensive city, but at the Pool Side restaurant, there was no children's menu, so we had to modify an adult dish - by asking for a bowl of plain pasta sprinkled with cheese (a very standard children's dish in most European countries), and that came to CHF 30 (£24 at today's rate) a bowl! For plain pasta and cheese! Some you'd expect to pay around £5 to £7 in a UK restaurant for. Apart from this, we had a nice stay.

Overall, very decent place close to United Nations in the quiet neighborhood of Geneva
The reception personnel is very delightful and eager to help. We were checked in by Olga, well spoken and highly informative host. The hotel wasn't full at the time so they upgraded us to a premium suit and provided free bus passes good for traveling anywhere in Geneva. The best thing is the hotel has a decent size swimming pool and area around it is super clean and inviting. We did't buy any meal plans from the hotel, plenty of dining options 5 to 10 min. walking distance.

A great hotel to which I am unlikely to return

Nicely appointed hotel in all respects, but located just a bit too far from central Geneva for those who like to walk everywhere to be practical -- unless you are visiting one of the UN agencies nearby this hotel. The room was very comfortable, but housekeeping was a bit uneven across a week stay -- sometimes not emptying was bins or re-stocking the coffee/tea/sugar daily. It also took 3 tries over a 3 day period to get the TV properly fixed. The service elevator situated across the hall from my room needed servicing to eliminate a loud squeaking coming from a noisy elevator mechanism. Each time the elevator was operated (24 hours a day), it emitted a noise that was sufficiently loud to be heard inside my room with the door closed. When I explained the problem, staff gave me that \"this man is crazy\" look. It was not attended too. No offer was made to move me, and my business in Geneva meant I had little time to forcefully complain, so the problem was not resolved other than a promise that \"on your next visit, we will make a note on your card to see that you get a quiet room\". It always amazes me that hotels don't fix the obvious problems that they know customers will eventually complain about, but then only fix things when reported by paying customers as if that is a replacement for preventive maintenance. Despite being a first rate property, the poor service will make it unlikely that I will return -- lots of other hotels in Geneva that are eager to provide SERVICE

If you have business nearby, this is an okay choice, but otherwise, it's quite an average hotel in terms of service and food quality, and one that seems a bit past it's prime. We paid about $600 a night for our room, yet had to ask 6 times to have a couple of extra coffee pods sent to the room. Each time, we were promised yes, but nothing was delivered. Finally, we spoke with the housekeeping manager who seemed indignant that we asked and repeated several times that coffee pods for the machine in the room were \"not free\"and we had to pay for them. His poor attitude certainly tainted our experience and we won't be back. Other staff were polite and pleasant, but service was not personalized as you'd expect in a hotel of this level.
