The female Indian manager was really nice. But the younger white girl at the counter was very rude and unprofessional. When I asked her about the $75 per night pet fee, she belittled me and said \"The last guy who just checked in did not care about the price.\"

She also suggested corporate raised the pet fee to $75 because they are going \"upscale\" soon. I expressed that I had booked a year ago and the price was $10 at the time, was $20 when I arrived, and then $75 when I arrived. I already booked a room for my return trip and the pet fee was almost as much as the room!! Told her I would do a change back and she flipped out saying that would never happen!!

The second floor was so sketchy and glad I was on the first floor. This place is really run down and the area is seedy. Be warned if you stay here that the photos they show you online are NOT what it looks like in person. It is filthy here!

Could NOT stay here - AVOID this property

My wife and I arrived around 6PM to check-in with an existing reservation. The clerk said that the only computer at the front desk was down and she had to run back & forth to the back office to check-in guests. After some delays we received our room assignment on the 4th floor. The elevator from the lobby was jerky and squeeky, not giving us a good feeling. We arrived at the room to find drop clothes over the doors, paint cans and drywall mud in the room. We returned to the desk to get another room. The manager apologized and made a trip to the 4th floor to get a list of cleaned rooms from housekeeping. She returned and we were assigned one of those. When we arrived at this room, the keycard would not work and the door would not lock! When we returned to the front desk, the couple who checked in before us were complaining that their key would not open their room. At this point we weren't going to stay at Baymont, so I asked for a credit since we were already charged for a room. The clerk explained that they could NOT issue a refund! I asked for the manager, and the clerk went in the back and returned to explain that the charge was just \"on hold\" and that it would not go thru. I left, but checked the next day to find that the charge had gone thru. I am now planning to dispute the charge with credit card. This is a dirty, rundown and not well maintained property with staff that are indifferent to their guests.

I did not end up staying. Although I had a reservation in July and my stay was in September the hotel manager decided to serve incoming customers on a first come first serve basis and did not hold my hotel room even with the confirmation three days prior. The manager also left 3 empolyee's do deal with multiple hostile customers and did not come in to handle things. I witnessed the miss treatment of these employees that in no way deserved the treatment they got. I was not the only preregistered guest that was turned away. With no place to stay that night I had to drive 2 hours away. I would not recommend the Baymont West in Kalamazoo for anything except the 3 employees that were trying to do everything in the limited power to help their customers. After this incident I'm not sure how the manager could keep their job.

Hotel has a first come first serve policy - so they ignore reservations - official policy. If you arrive early, you’re good - if you arrive late - you’re SOL. They also don’t manage who’s in what room - they opened my door multiple times thinking the room was vacant. There is definitely some mgmt work to do there from a process perspective. The staff is super nice and the property and rooms are in good shape.

We had a reservation but when we attempted to check-in at 8 pm we were told that there were no rooms left. What’s the point of having a paid reservation if the room isn’t reserved. The kid at the check-in desk was very unprofessional and basically said, “I gave your room away. We don’t have any rooms left.”

Worst hotel stay in decades

Air conditioner broken. Funky smell in room. No chair in room. No shampoo, just 2 small bottles of conditioner. Toilet seat looked like it had been thru the war. No bath mat. Cleanliness questionable. Mini fridge made a wheezing sound. Ice machine broken. Wasn’t sure the elevator was going to make it. Hallways dirty. If it hadn’t of been a prepaid room we would have left.

People live at this hotel, keys that we were given didnt work 2 , room they gave me looked like it hadnt been made from previous guest or 1hr stay if u know what i mean. Staff unaware of what they have available and rough crowd hanging out in back corner of lot at picnic tables. Sketchy spot for sure. I didnt stay there and they told me i wouldnt be charged but i was.

The computer system was down at the hotel, and they were not able to even check us in. We were then informed that we had to contact hotels.com for a refund since it was third party, but were then told that the hotel did not respond to their repeated requests for approval of a refund, so as of now, we paid for a stay where we weren’t able to use it.

When we got there late at night after driving all day, we found out they over booked the hotel. Wait, they have my phone number to call! Was there a call…no. No offer of anything to assist.

In a way out worked out, there were people pole hanging out in the parking lot and no lights in the lot. But it would have been nice to be notified.

First of all, the desk staff and manager were great. They did what they could to address my issues. Also the beds were comfortable. My issue was with the facilities. The owner should be ashamed of himself. The poor staff had to deal with a situation the couldn't fix because whoever owns that dump hasn't maintained it. Bad plumbing, elevator, decor, even the bathroom fan was shot. If that staff was at a different hotel, it would be great. But that facility should either be renovated or demolished.

Stay was just ok. Bed was comfortable. We were told the hotel had or was going through a renovation and the rooms had been done. The TV did not work, the outlets were either not working or completely missing and the hair dryer not only not work but was melted and looked burnt from the outlet which all were, I’m sure, a safety hazard.

Great stay!

Newly renovated rooms in an old property. Some bench and green areas around the parking lot to walk the dog. They even have a couple of BBQ pits there. Room was clean, bed was great. Bathroom was spotless clean. There was a leak on the sink, and the microwave was missing the turntable dish, management should try keeping up with maintenance. The TV was great and lighting and general functionalities of the room were up to standard. The A/C although a bit loud worked perfectly. Quiet aisle near the elevator on the 4th floor. Breakfast doesn’t have a lot of hot options, just dairy, toast, waffle maker (no eggs, sausages, etc. ). Staff was diligent and courteous. Nice area around, not walkable but good access to local businesses and highway

We shiukd have kniw by the price that this place was gonna be questionable, but the pictures online showed clean and outdated rooms. That was not the case. Our room had the front cover from the air conditioning unit laying on the ground as we walked in. We pulled the covers back on the bed and found black curly hairs on the sheets. Several red colored stains on the carpet. Trim peeling off walls. Musty smell. Hallway walls had holes throughout showing exposed plumbing and ceiling tiles in hallway were missing. Not to mention the broken down minivan sitting in the closest spot to front door that was on jack stands with a wheel off and weeds growing around it. Highly dont recomend this place. We were only there for 10 minustes before we decided to leave and get a better room somewhere else. There was only one person working and they were not at front desk when we left to tell them about the rooms...we had 3 rooms. The iwned ebded up calling me and acusing me of actually sleeping there and denied my refund. Shut it down and rebuild!

Most DISGUSTING HOTEL EVER!

This is the worst Hotel I have ever set foot in. We booked it because it was cheap. When we pulled in there was a mini van on a jack with a tire off that looked like it had been there a long time. The lobby when we walked in looked disheveled. The elevator mad noises and smelled aweful. There were ceiling tiles in the hall missing. In the room the room there were blood stains on the carpet, the mattress was ripped. The was hair on the pillows. The tub was dirty. The cabinets in the bathroom were falling apart. We left our rooms and no one was at the front desk. We booked rooms at the Hilton across town. When we called back they tried to say we ripped the mattress and were not issued refunds. This place is a scam, and the most disgusting indoor building I've ever stepped foot in.

The photos do not do this property’s poor condition justice. These don’t not belong to this property at all. It should be known this is a hotel for people and family who live there as well.

We checked in and had issues with our room key 3 times, each time getting a key that didn’t work. The receptionist felt was inconvenienced by this, as she couldn’t resume her chat with the delivery person. The room however was decent, clean and fine for that one night we stayed. Given the condition of this hotel that was surprising though.

The hallway walls have holes in them, water damage and dirty rotting walls. Everything was dingy, dirty, smelly in the hallways, lobby and elevator.

It’s cheap, and we figured out why.

For anyone considering staying at this hotel, you might want to reconsider. I was a bit leery about staying here when I pulled into the parking lot and immediately saw signs stating not responsible for vehicle, break-ins, or theft. There were several 20-something year oldpeople hanging out by picnic tables on the side of the hotel and didn’t appear to be staying at the hotel. The location is convenient to the highway, but not in the best area. The red roof in right next-door apparently has ongoing problems with unsavory activities. As soon as I checked in my room, I heard a commotion, looked out my window and saw several sketchy people in the red roof parking lot with three police cars just pulling up. Noticed sketchy behavior from that parking lot on and off throughout the rest of the day into the evening. The phone in my room did not work and another customer was complaining about the same thing at the front desk, so apparently this is a common issue. In the middle of the night, some man started banging on my door and woke me up. When I asked who’s there he just wandered off down the hall apparently unable to find his assigned room. Don’t expect to get any sleep if you’re assigned a room that shares a connecting door with an adjacent room. There are big gaps underneath the doors leading to the hall and adjacent rooms that make any conversations sound loud and easily overheard. It appears this hotel is undergoing continuous renovations, but that a fairly slow pace.

This place was disgusting and would not recommend anyone stay there! Dog food on the floor in our room, long blond hair in the sink(not ours), the toilet didn’t flush properly and when we needed it plunged we were handed a plunger, smelled of smoke and THC, dogs barking, and the continental breakfast was waffle or apple sauce. Then the vending machine just ate the quarters and when asked for them to repay the money put in they said they didn’t know how. I have stayed in some dives before but this one was by far the worst. Oh and during checkin the lady was chomping her gum like a cow with her mouth open, her shirt looked like it hadn’t ever been washed and was wrinkled beyond belief and were told oh by the way we are doing construction so you are going to hear a lot of banging on the walls.

It’s not safe to stay here

Their computer system was down, so they put me in a room without any record of me being checked in to that room. When I returned to the room the next day my clothes and personal belongings had been thrown away and the room was being reset by housekeeping for another guest. I took my belongings out of the trash and left.

The hotel is still arguing about issuing a refund. Additionally, the room i was given isn’t the room I booked. Completely different from the photos, and also was quite dirty. Compare this photo with the listing photo.

I would have left at check in if it wasn’t always the middle of the night. The woman working had to grab multiple key cards to find a room for me that was empty since their system wasn’t working and she couldn’t confirm via the computer whether a room was available. She walked to the floor with me to check which room I could stay in. I was so afraid someone would enter my room during the night because they didn’t have a way to formally check me into the room I was staying in. My experience the next day confirmed this was possible. As a woman traveling alone this is a huge safety issue.

Check-in took forever. New girl who started was nice but very frazzled. Hotel management did not keep copying paper stocked so she couldn't do her job sufficiently (not her fault). Heard someone say something about the water. A few hours later there was no hot water for a shower. Front desk said it was the cities fault. I inquired why we weren't informed there was a problem when we arrived. They said sorry but it wasn't their fault. I asked if they would be compensating us or reimbursing us for the inconvenience and currently no response to that question. I will be contacting corporate myself. As far as I know the city may provide the water but the hotel should have the adequate systems in place to heat the water. Out of the 3 or 4 other times we've stayed here this stay was not acceptable under any standards of hospitality.

Room had no phone, no alarm clock. Several lamp shades were damaged and there were burns on a couples pillow cases. Our first morning, breakfast was supposed to end at 9. 8am we came down and there was no food other than some bread and cereal, and no milk for the cereal. Seemed bothered when we reported it as the only people working were both at the desk. On the next morning heading to check out the safety rail in the elevator just fell off and hit my foot. Desk worker didn't seem to care at all. Smoke (both cigarettes and marijuana) smell throughout the facility

Property is old and run down. Room painting and caulking cracked; bathroom had 1/2 of towel rod hanger bracket, but no rod; caulking on floors very dirty, visible dirt on floors, pubic hair on toilet. In room heater had visible sticky stains. While checking bed for signs of bed bugs (too tired to move the first night but moved to another hotel after the first night) I found what appears to be a make shift crack pipe between the mattress and box springs. There were no hangars in the closet, but front desk staff provided me with three to use. One outlet didn't work. Phone on desk with no ring tone. Breakfast sparse but adequate and they did have a waffle maker. Had clean sheets and towels. A jarrring experience. I would not recommend.

The staff were amazing at hospitality! They were eager and friendly towards any task that I needed a solution to.

However, the television was not working properly on Monday evening. The front desk tried to rectify the issue but was unsuccessful. I didn’t bother with it the rest of the stay because I had other options on my cell phone.

They have bed bugs and when I showed them the house keeper told me it was a stink bug. Everything was still dirty and had hair in the shower. Mold in the bathroom in the ceiling. There were homeless people sleeping where the ice machine is so we couldn’t get ice.

HORRIBLE !!! Did not feel safe in the hotel at all. This place was dirty from the time you got the parking lot to the time you got in your room. Stains everywhere, smelled of smoke, microwave and fridge weren’t clean. False advertisement, the room did not look anything like the picture. We even changed rooms and it was the same condition. Didn’t even stay for 2 hours. Booked another hotel. And on top of that they had me drive back there 3 separate times thinking I was getting a refund only to be told I won’t get one. Very unprofessional.

Cleanliness of room was very under standards from what the images show in your advertisement. Had and unclean microwave, room floor needed a good vacuuming, building maintenance upkeep was also under standards.

Lobby was nasty kids rolling joints n clerk not giving any concern ppl talking to themselves walking in and out all night my room was nasty sheets were stained roaches smashed on wall hot tub in my room was nasty just overall not worth my time or money

I booked 2 rooms for out of town guests
When I received my keys and noticed that they had a room between I asked if they could be across from each other
She became confrontational. I calmed her and said we can make it work. She told me the guest staying in the rooms would have to do some paperwork when they arrived
More than an hour lapse and my daughter came to the window of one of the rooms I had booked and told me she was asked to leave and that there would be no refund
