Decent hostel, rooms and bathrooms weren’t the most clean. The shower will overflow if you use maximum water pressure. Mattress was comfortable though, quiet room too, not social at all.

I asked when i booked whether i could hv a lower bunk. They responded maybe. They did and even put a sign on the bed that it was reserved. The bed was very comfortable. It wasnt too bad as far as noise was concerned.

My room was clean and prepared when I checked-in and the staff was helpful and professional.

The hotel is located next to Hermannplatz, which can get noisy and busy during the days since it's a hub for public transportation for the U-subway and busses, which can take you to all the main tourist spots in Berlin.

Overall, I recommend this hotel if you want to balance saving money on hotel stays and being as close as possible to transit to the tourist spots.

The hostel is about acceptable but area isn't good

Managers at the reception were friendly and helpful.
The whole lobby area itself smelled very bad on Saturday all afternoon. It seemed to have been cleaned next day and there was no smell anymore.
The room was clean, beds comfortable.
The neighborhood is not pleasant, not a single normal restaurant around, just tiny places with low-quality fast food taking only cash for payment, untidy tables, crowds of unpleasant people, dirtiness, people smoking everywhere. It did not feel safe despite of lots of police. Would never stay in this area anymore.

Paolo at the Grand Hostel Urban was the kindest person I met during my trip to Berlin! I never felt uncomfortable talking to staff and asking questions about my stay. The check-in was smooth, and the drinks/coffee offered downstairs were incredible. The breakfast buffet was convenient and delicious, and had a lovely view of the streets and the Fernsehturm at a distance.The location is conveniently next to U8 which takes you to Alexanderplatz where there are a lot of famous sights and easy connections to other parts of the city. Though I had a few uncomfortable encounters around where I stayed, I would recommend booking with Grand Hostel Urban.

We stayed in a double room with en suite facilities. Very affordable so we were surprised at the facilities. Very clean very comfortable bed. Staff were very welcoming. The Hostel is more like a hotel which is good and is very central in location. Lots of great cafes restaurants and bars all in easy access. Public transport is right outside the door making it very easy to get around Berlin. Brilliant choice

This hostel was perfect for my first trip to Berlin! The single room was very affordable, the staff was very helpful, and it was both close to the U Bahn and centrally located for what I wanted to see and do on the trip. Having the option for a nice breakfast was also great when I wasn't up for venturing out to a cafe.

The staff here is so nice & helpful. Super close to the subway that takes you straight to Alexanderplatz. Cafe Suss across the street was my go-to for coffee, pastries & sandwiches in the morning. The street that it's on is full of Middle Eastern fast-casual restaurants with delicious food with massive portions & great value in terms of quality/service. The hotel itself is pretty basic in terms of amenities, but the fast/reliable wifi was my main priority.

Grand Hostel Berlin is not a great place to stay if you want privacy. I booked a Dorm which I haven't done for many years and although the people in the Dorm were fine, you sacrifice your privacy. I think the Breakfast is too expensive even though its all you can eat. The area is very noisy especially at night with Police and Ambulance Sirens going off all the time.
The beds were however comfortable and there was a reasonable bar in the entrance.

The staff at the counter were all great. Super friendly and, assuming they weren’t helping another guest or cleaning, always interesting to speak to. The cleaning crew should clean the floors better (i.e. mop with a little disinfectant). They could also do a better job of replenishing hand soap in the rooms. Otherwise, the rooms were clean and had good bathrooms and good amenities in general.

I was solo traveling in Berlin. This was one of the nicest hostels I’ve ever stayed in. Super friendly and helpful service, private bathrooms, and AC! All beds have USB ports and outlets, as well as reading lights. It is a little off the beaten path in Berlin but the U-Bahn station is right outside. Would recommend!

Booked our room 2 weeks before check-in, and by the time we got there they told us our room is fully booked. That staff was really impolite, got a really awful attitide.
Bathroom sink got stain in it. Room cleaning keep coming in before 11am (check-out time is 11am), even when it's not our day to check-out!

Give it a try!

It’s a new ownership. I assume it used to be a hotel turned into a Hostel. They are in the middle of renovating the place.
The renovated 8 beds dorm was fantastic.
The location is super!
It was relaxing. Unlike the “factory hostels/chains” this is great!

Great choice for wanderers and students!

Sure you dont have the privacy of normal rooms but the price itself really carries the weight for itself. While the hotel exactly isnt directly in the center you can easily get to center with only 5 minutes of walk and 10 minutes of metro. I think this is a great concept for people travelling around to see the city instead of living in a hotel the whole trip.

Fantastic Hostel for travelers

Service was superb. Cesar welcomed us with open arms and we were offered complimentary drinks. What a beginning to our stay. The rooms were outstanding and it was clearly recently furnished. Everything was great, from the price to the staff to the location. Keep up the great work. I fully intend to comeback and chat with Dario because he was really friendly. Limited internet, hard for uber to find

Limited internet that you have to go downstairs to get “refilled” despite you being a guest and obviously knowing the routine of how to get internet access.
Breakfast is delicious but very pricey.
We took maybe 8 uber rides while staying here and only ONE could find it, spent a lot of time walking corner to corner trying to find my driver. Hotels sign is 20 feet in the air-so hard to find.
Otherwise gets the job done for a leisurely stay.

Comfortable and clean hotel in a very good location. Room was backing on to the ubahn station, the market and a very busy junction. Overall noise level was pretty bad with fire engines, police and ambulances all with sirens wailing through the night. Shower base was smooth and very slippy when wet , hotel staff did not supply anti slip mats. Shower was lever operated instead of a bar shower and it was too easy to catch the lever and move it to a dangerously hot position. No kettle or tea/coffee supplied in the room.

Super loud area/street/hotel. Sirens non stop!

The biggest thing that stands out is that the hotel street is SUPER LOUD. I've stayed in a lot of European cities and this street by far has so many sirens non stop all day and night. In the night you can hear people shouting and yelling from the streets. This part of town never seems to sleep. I had to sleep with ear plugs and I could still hear a ton. The breakfast was the best part of the stay. Not the best location to stay at. The beds were very comfortable.

shady business - I would never ever go back.

The reception was incredibly rude on arrival.
Moreover, on check out the receptionist needed to get my credit card to 'check something with expedia' I needed to go and let him check but should have never and feel stupid for this... The next day 240 euros had disappeared from my creditcard. My bank blocked my creditcard as suspicious activity and the stolen money is luckily covered under my insurance but my credit card is now blocked and this is really fd up because I am supposed to pick up my rental car and this will not be possible without my credit card. And this money is now, unfortunately, lost.
I cannot prove anything and so will never know for sure, but to me, this is shady and rude business.

Unusual Situation with Great Customer Service

We were in sort of a unique situation because we are moving from apartment to apartment and needed a place to stay in between with our dogs and luggage. Unfortunately the luggage storage closet was already full when we checked out and we were unable to check in to our next place until 7pm. The people at the front desk were so nice and understanding and let us stay in the lobby with our suitcases and dogs. They even brought the dogs water. We really appreciated their compassion during this frustrating time for us.

Bed bugs and bad service

I woke up with bed bugs in my bed. Room 203. I took a picture. I went down to registration and a gentleman from 307 was already complaining about bed bugs in his room. The man at the counter was rude and assured us the hotel did not have bed bugs, when I showed him the picture he said I could have looked that up online. His fix was to move the man from 307 to 101. But obvisouly if they are on the 2nd and 3rd floor that are probally on the 1st. I was checking out and saw this argument was going nowhere, so I left. Also the location is sketchy. They keep the front door locked at all times and you need to be buzzed in. Also the key cards for the doors were not working so I was given a door key. However anytime I was to leave the hotel I had to drop it off at the desk. Last but not least is the shower, the stall is so tiny the cheap plastic curtain stuck to my back the entire time I showered, and the floor of the bathroom was soaked cause the curtain did not to stop the water. This is BY FAR the WORST hotel experience I have ever had. I am now trying to figure out how to cleanse my luggage of bed bugs while I still have 4 days of my Europe trip left. Absolutely unacceptable. I wish the attached pics were clearer of the bed bug my comforter blanket. Also the street is VERY noisy, cars, sirens, motorcycles etc etc.

Really can't fault this hotel the only points I think is the room could have a kettle and also the bottles in the room are both sparkling not everyone drinks sparkling water ans lastly tbey blankets for the bed are really small and thin nevertheless these are not massive issues and wouldn't prevent me from staying here again the location is so convenient with the U station being directly round the corner and there's also an Alidi and lidil about ten mins away which we found handy

The hotel is located in a great place. There's a bus stop right next to it that goes directly to the airport. Subway station very close by. The hotel in general is fine. Not the best hotel I've been in Europe but ok. It really depends if you're planing on being at the hotel a lot.

Decent hotel in a great location

This hotel is really wonderfully located in the heart of vibrant Neukolln, near many interesting eateries and attractions. It's decently priced, the rooms are clean and the wifi is fast and free. The staff is really attentive: when we arrived in our room, we found an infant crib already installed and furnished for our baby. Highly recommended!

Cheap and Cheerful Hotel for a City Break

Stayed for four nights in Berlin with a group of friends. The hotel is very conveniently situated next to a major tube station and bus links. The rooms are small-ish but well decorated and clean, bed was comfortable.

I didn't use the restaurant on my stay but some in my party did and they reported a positive experience. Bar was OK, with good beer. WiFi was also working as intendec

The room was of good size, as they don't have many twin-bedded rooms, we were given a double. They could do with twin beds in their rooms which could serve as a double when put together. 2 mins from underground station and a Mcdonald round the corner. The bus to Schonefield airport stops just round the corner. The staff at the reception were helpful. Has a good buffet breakfast spread but you've to be there early as food are not replenished. About 500m from hotel on Kotbusser Dam, there's a good german pastry shop called Thoben - most of the pastries are less than 1 euro/pc. In Bopp Str off Kotbusser Dam, about 300m from hotel - there's good quality and fairly cheap Turkish kebab & shawerma - eat in or takeaway. Most of the customers are locals.

Hotel had a good location as it was next to the U-Bahn and at the end of the bus route from the airport. Staff were very friendly. Rooms were clean and had sufficient space for our short stay. Sadly our room was extremely noisy with traffic as it was next to the major crossroads which were very busy day and night. Friday and Saturday night, like most cities had it's fair share of 'party revellers' which added to the night noise. Pleasantly surprised at the 'hot' and 'cold' breakfast buffet. It offered a reasonable choice, cereal, fruit, meats etc and there was plenty of it. Tables were cleared quickly and efficiently by the staff. All in all a very pleasant stay which I would recommend and visit again.

Decent Hotel with a few quibbles

It was a nice hotel convieniently located to the Huxley's Neue Welt where we were going to a concert that weekend. Staff are friendly enough and were considerate enough to give us a larger room for a disabled guest with ample space. I have two major grieviences though:
1) We checked in early Saturday Afternoon. By about 5pm the electricity in our room refused to work. We were not able to use our electronic items or watch TV- however, oddly, the lights still worked. When I mentioned this to the receptionist she mentioned that she will not be able to do anything as she is the only person on reception and they can only call in someone on Monday- redundant as we were leaving 6am on Monday morning. We had to travel to our friends room down the hall to charge phones, use hairdryers, etc which was HIGHLY inconvienient. I am a bit annoyed as the receptionist at the time didn't seem sympathetic to our predicament
2) Show curtain- the bath/shower combi was wonderful but the curtain was poorly designed to the point that water was streaming out the back of the unit and onto the floor. And even though there was a drain, where the water was ending up it couldn't reach the drain! We had to use excess towels to mop up- which, may I Point out, was not replaced in our two days staying there.

However, it was a nice enough stay, good for the two nights. It wasn't noisy like other people mentioned- perhaps keep your window shut at night when sleeping as to not hear the cars?

They moved me to a different hotel on my arrival
This was very inconvenient as I had selected this location for a reason. There were no emails warning me about this change.

I would stay again

This was my first stay in Berlin and my second stay at a Days Inn. The hotel was in great condition and the staff were very friendly. The hotel is six stops/10-15 minutes away from Alexanderplatz which was great and is in a decent area across from a shopping centre. The room was clean and had a great view of the square (I think I was in room 607) and I was quite comfortable. The only issue I had was with the shower possibly having a clog in the drain, as the water tended to go down slowly. Overall, I was satisfied with the hotel, location and service.

The Hotel near where you want to be

So after reading reviews, I was extremely surprised to find the hotel was SO clean. On arrival, we were allowed to check in VERY early which was a massive plus- BUT the reception staff were very rude.... and when I say rude, I mean rude. They weren't helpful or polite.

The cleaners where friendly, and even folded my Pajamas (which was sweet)...... I spoke to them a bit (but they couldnt speak english

Other than that I really liked the hotel,we had access to the sauna and gym (across the road).... and was 2 mins from the train station.

Great location, great price, Very CLEAN and I would go back again..... this hotels a GEM (just ignore the rude reception staff)

Nice hotel very convenient for seeing the city

Clean and comfortable hotel with handy bus to airport and underground station very close.
I had a nice single room on the 4th floor with en suite and very quiet.
Buffet breakfast was excellent with lots of choice - juice, cereals, fresh fruit, yogurt, cold platter, hot food, bread, jam etc
I thought it was brilliant value for money.
There was free wifi and a computer for the use of guests.

Fantastic experience

Great location with easy connectivity to all tourist destinations and airport. Excellent wholesome breakfast. Rooms clean. Only wished they had a high chair in the restaurant for our toddler.
