This property is listed as a hotel. It has hotel in the name. I booked a room with a queen bed. I arrive to find out it’s a hostel operating under the guise of being a hotel. Kids under 16 years old running around everywhere, bunk bed shared rooms loud at all hours, but for some reason I had reception come to my room twice for noise complaints because of music playing on my phone? Not sure how you can have a private room but not actually be private at all. This was the worst experience I’ve had at a “hotel” in all my years of travel. If their name was space “hostel” I wouldn’t have stayed here. This feel fraudulent and I was conned into a terrible experience in Melbourne. Please take this property off of Expedia, leave it on Hostelworld

Everything works perfectly as always. Best set up. The silly young groups difficult und messy at times. My Medical Restrictions were completely forgotten this time, which led to unpleasant event. I've Always written them up front in the requests. And I had to tell a \"supervisor\" who came and stood over my head and started quarreling with guy trying to work, that she could do it outside the room. An experienced Manager has left, and things a little erratic & unprotected since. Unfortunate.

J’ai passé plusieurs nuits dans une chambre de 6 lits (filles seulement). La chambre n’était pas trop petite, on avait des grands casiers pour y mettre nos affaires. Les salles de bain sont semi-privatives et ça c’est super cool. À chaque étage il y avait des pièces avec soit juste un toilette, soit juste une douche, soit les deux. À part que tout l’étage y a accès, tu as la pièce pour toi seul lorsque tu y es et ça ça change des salles de bain partagées. Tu peux avoir et changer ta service tous les jours sans devoir payer. La cuisine avait tous les équipements nécessaires ! Première fois qu’il y a 2 fours dans une cuisine d’hostel. Il y a avait un accès en terrasse pour manger dehors ou en intérieur. Au 8ème étage le rooftop donne une vue incroyable sur les buildings et il y a même un jacuzzi. L’hostel propose le samedi des bbc gratuits et le dimanche un petit dej. Vraiment sympa. Le personnel est tres accueillant et aidant. Très bien localisé près des transports en commun, il est facile de se déplacer depuis l’hostel. Je recommande à 100% et lors de mon prochain passage à Melbourne je sais déjà que je reviendrais ici.

This is one of the best hostels I stayed in Australia. I’d recommend to anyone who comes to Melbourne. The bunk beds were so comfortable and private. The washrooms were so clean. The cinema area was so so amazing. I also loved the Sunday breakfast.

Overall stay was fine. Nothing was over the top amazing, but also everything met my expectations. Rooms and bathrooms were clean. Wifi was slow at times. Barely used any other facilities or participated in any events, just used it as a place to sleep. Was a little loud on Friday night, but expected since it was the weekend.

I mean this hostel is a solid open. Although dormitories are alot more basic than I would expect for the price. For this price I would expect Pod beds, duvets, with ensuite bathrooms and personal reading light. Not the most social hostel, but staff were really nice, unlike other hostels I have stayed at in Melbourne. Would prefer if we didn't have to make the bed ourselves, and if we could adjust the temperature of the Aircon, because it was good in the day, but too cold at night, and everyone in my room got sick because of it. That being said the location is great, less than 10 minutes from Central station. The werid thing was they had a movie room, with no movies, no Netflix or anything, that seems like an easy thing to improve. I would probably stay here again.

If the proprietors of this hotel wanted to actually improve the experience of their guests, they would pay for the installation of a couple of these cameras on the road in front of the hotel and start reporting offenders to the police.
The idiots who drive or ride deliberately noisy vehicles would soon see the advantage of taking a different route and the guests at this hotel would actually be able to get some sleep.
But I guess as the hotel is aimed at backpackers, they don't care about people who actually value sleep.

Very convenient location, right next to Chinatown so there is amazing food right around the corner! Facilities were good - kitchen and rooftop shared space to relax and meet new people. We stayed in a single room with private bathroom, very nice, with private balcony. It was really great!

Perfect for a solo trip with single room. The bathrooms are cleaned many times a day and the water is always hot. However, the hand dryers should be automatically switched off after 10pm as it is very loud and can wake you up during the night. Great location and very close to the essentials. The single room accommodation was perfect (just what you need nothing fancy). The staff were all very friendly, approachable and helpful. Definitely a home away from home!!

I wanted a 10 am check-in with full day payment, and still they just threw in the policy card. They cannot allow check-in before 2 pm. Even though, I was ready to make a payment for a 10 am check-in. Had to book another hotel, as my situation was quite extraordinary. What a terrible ordeal, where is the never say no to your guests, and this guest was ready to pay even for a full yes. Nopp, silly policy enforcement cost them a customer never to book with them again.

I’ve been at the Space hotel in the past, when it was brand new, and I’ve always loved it.
However, coming back after a few years has not been the same. Probably due to Covid, the staff shortage has affected the level of cleanness and of safety in this place.
Compared to other hostel it’s still a very good quality, but over the years I can tell the difference.
But I’m pretty sure they will get soon on track and raise the standards again! 🙂

Firstly, what I liked most about SPACE was their efforts at eco friendly initiatives, the fitness space, movie screen and the comfy pillows/beds. However couldn't find the worm farm used for food scraps that was mentioned on the info board or anywhere suitable to dispose of food scraps for that matter. And would have preferred a reuseable cups option instead of the mass amount of styrofoam ones. Other than that any effort at being eco friendly is good.
Unfortunately the free wi-fi connection was very slow and some sites wouldn't load. If there was a higher speed connection that would have been great, one included in the cost considering even a single room can cost hundreds for a few days. Also it was rather odd Cutlery came at a $10 rental cost.
All in all, Space has lots of great things about it and the interior design was excellent (except the toilets didn't look very appealing). Location wise it was near the State Library of Victoria, Le Monde St where lots of Trams go that connect to Flinders St station and the Melbourne Central Mall which had Coles.

Staffs are very helpful and friendly. When the air-conditioner is not working in our room, they let us change another room until we find the best one that suited for us when the city is 40℃. One suggestion is that they it wil be better if the bathroom is a separated totally from the toilet. Or just have the ladies' s bathroom separated from the men's.
