Good location.
There is only disadvantage that no WiFi service was provided as advertised during booking. Evening front desk service suppose to be more polite when travellers ask to fix the problem with WiFi.

I was surprised at the size of the room for the price I paid. In fact I was surprised at the quality of this hotel for the price I paid. It was amazing, especially being just across the road from the railway station, which I certainly appreciated. Mind you, it is still annoying when the staff speak English when I'm trying to communicate with them in German.

This is NOT a 4 star hotel at all ! This is a big lie !
This place is dirty, super basic, the beds are totally used, the equipment screwed everywhere to hold, the breakfast is worth a motel...
The pictures on the internet are many years old and a lie!
With a lot of optimism, this could be a 2 star place.

We booked this property with insurance through expedia. We attempted to cancel due to medical emergency 18 days prior to date booked. The hotel was non-responsive.
Expedia is not honoring the cancelation and has told us we have to make a claim with a third party.

Although very clean, it was very dated & was in need of decorating,it was very tired looking.Although we were on the 5th floor it was very very noisy at night as we were on the front & very hot & as there was NO air conditioning we had to have the window open, though even when it was closed it was still very noisy as belive it was only single glazed!!!Defo needs updating!!! Breakfast was fine.Didnt sleep the first night due to noise!!! Very convienent for the train station, handy location

Fine for a short stop near the main station. Room was large with a kitchenette and a large bed, window had been left open and the room was quite cold but warmed up with the window shut. TV wouldn't work but given I was there for last then eight hours didn't matter, decent breakfast too.

Convenient central Location

Hotel is very convenient for the station and many other Leipzig attractions eg art museum, Markt, churches and shopping centres. We stayed at the beginning and end of our weeks visit.Both rooms were very spacious but the first one at the front suffered from traffic noise. It was unusually hot so we would have appreciated a fan, The in room hot drink provisions were poor but the breakfast was sumptuous. Staff were polite and helpful. I would visit again and recommend to others.

Nice hotel and large room but no air conditioning and we stayed on a very hot night. There is alot of traffic noise so couldn’t have windows open during the night.
Parking costs 9 euros for cars and motorbikes.

Our flight from Munich to Leipzig has been cancelled, so we arrived to our hotel one day later.

We requested on the 9th June, when we arrived at the hotel from the reception staff, to issue a document showing the cost of the hotel & breakfast on the 8th/9th June. We've been told that this is not a problem. On our last day, we've been told in the morning that the document will be ready to be picked up in the afternoon, instead we did get a hand written letter of apology that they cannot provide such a document. We did find out that the hotel is a private property.

Regarding our room, the bed was terribly uncomfortable, with an uncovered wooden frame around - I did get few bruises as a result.
Our room on floor 5 was a converted loft, the heat was unbearable, it was a fan in the room, but made not much difference.
The standard of the hotel is very low, with an extremely small reception, no computer room, the only good thing was the breakfast.
We do not recommend this hotel.

Selected hotel on basis of comfort/ price and was very happy with the result. The building is perhaps a little lacking in character, but as a single traveller on a budget making a short stay, that wasn't a problem for me. Desk staff were excellent, unfailingly welcoming and patient with my lack of German language. Typically for Germany, the breakfast buffet provided a wide range of simple tasty food.
Very interesting city with rich musical and political history, which can be experienced through the superb Opera house and concert hall, several museums and historic houses. Fascinating mixture of buildings from the many stages in the city's development over the past 500 years. Try getting out of the centre into the more residential areas

Unprofessional hotel management!

The hotel is basically good, but we had a horrible problem with the front desk. I was leading a group of 15 students and there was no laundry price list in the rooms or at the front desk. When we asked about prices, the person at the desk told four of us that \"he thought\" it was priced by the bag and he quoted a rather reasonable per bag price to us. When the students got their laundry back, the price was anywhere from three to four to five times the price that was quoted! When I asked to speak with a manager, one was never available and none of them had the courtesy to call me as I had requested to try to find a solution. The young people running the front desk were of no help and one of them was incredibly rude. We never resolved the problem, so the poor students was held hostage and forced to pay the enhorbitant price - everyone was furious. One of the student could have purchased all new clothes for the price she paid to have her laundry cleaned! We had laundry lists in every hotel we stayed in before and after Leipzig. The management of this hotel is very unprofessional and this experience ruined our stay in Leipzig - we will never again return to this hotel and we strongly recommend you avoid it.

Do NOT have your laundry done at this hotel!

I had a group of 15 stay here for four days. This hotel is basically very good and, if all had gone well, I would have given them a high 4 star rating. But we had a major problem and it was due to the fact the hotel does not publish their laundry price list like ALL good hotels in Europe. We were told an incorrect approximate charge per bag by a very kind staff member who was trying to be helpful but should have never said anything about the price. When the laundry was delivered, the prices were outrageous and the most expensive I have ever seen for one bag of laundry - one bag was three figures! (unfortunately, we are not permitted to put specific prices in reviews!) The person charged the highest price, could have purchased new clothes for less money than the cost of the cleaning! I tired three time to see a manager to resolve the problem but they were always busy or not available; I requested they call me and I was never contacted. There was no manager on duty when we checked out. The night before I tired to speak with a manager and a very rude front desk employee told me there was no one available and there was nothing she could do - to my knowledge, she was the only one on duty and was representing the hotel. After I insisted, she called an assistant manager who told her to tell me there was noting that could be done. I found this very unprofessional. After this experience, hopefully they will provide a price list for laundry services in the future.

Not a 4* by a long way

The two key themes were a lack of facilities and poor service.

1. Unfriendly welcome on check in - dingy, small front reception. Had our details wrong.
2. Asked for an iron and ironing board. Thrice. Finally had to go down to reception and ask them to fetch me one while I waited. Got the iron but the ironing board was too much of an ask.
3. Booked a room with kitchenette. When we got there the kitchenette wasn't working. Asked three people over three days and got three different responses. Fourth response - \"Well, of course it isn't working, it's not installed.\" Was finally begrudgingly sorted on day 4 of our stay. Given this is why we booked this room in the first place, this was infuriating.
4. However no cooking utensils or cutlery was provided rendering it useless. We almost moved out at this point but had paid in advance.
5. Our room was supposed to come with a 'coffee/tea maker'. Turns out this was a kettle.
6. Our room was supposed to come with 'climate control'. Turns out this was opening the windows as there were no fans, no aircon, and it was 34 degrees all week. It was horribly unpleasant.
7. Breakfast wasn't of the quality one would expect at a 4* hotel. To be fair, nothing was.

All in all what should have been a relaxing family holiday was unnecessarily stressful. This is the worst 4* hotel we have ever stayed in. Needless to say we won't be coming back.

Hotel looks amazing on the outside, needs updating

Rooms information were not accurate. We needed one night stay for 6 people. We were given a Family Suite for 4 people and we had to request another room for the other 2 people. When we arrived to the rooms we realized the Suite was huge, it would have fit us all. Two separate rooms, 2 double beds and 1 sofa bed would have slept the 6 of us. The Hotel looks amazing on the outside, but needs updating in the rooms. Breakfast was ok. Location was amazing. We just needed to sleep there for one night.

Everybody made us feel very welcome. Staff were really friendly. We had a huge room with a very big, comfortable bed. Breakfast in the room on a Sunday morning was a real treat. We really enjoyed our stay. The location was perfect for day trips into other cities like Dessau. Great hotel, we would certainly book again.

The hotel was adequate but no more, 1 1/2 or 2 stars at most. Great view out the window of the loud street and street cars. Very friendly front desk staff, very stoic breakfast staff. Also the cover photo is very misleading, the hotel is more like a low priced motel in quality and comfort

Great location, but not a great bed

We liked the hotel all right, but were not aware there would be no AC, and it had been a very hot few days. The room was stuffy and too hot for comfort. Opening the window helped little due to the heat outside, and brought in the kitchen fumes. The room was very spacious and well laid-out, but the bed was old, soft and lumpy and we both got up with back and neck pains after a bad night's sleep. Otherwise, the room and hotel were very clean, and very well located. The parking provision was also convenient and close-by.

All of the history and architecture are compelling and the Stasi museum fascinating, chilling, very well presented and a testament to how the German people have freed themselves from their past.

Was given a room on the 2nd floor that had no wifi service. Asked front desk about the issue several times and was given different answers each time. Eventually had to threaten to cancel the remainder of my stay if the wifi was not working and I was given a new room.

The room had some marks on the walls and floors etc, but was pretty comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast selection was a little small but it was fine. I had a room facing the main road, and with the windows shut there was very little noise, so I slept very well. The hotel is very close to the main train station and the inner area of the city. There was free Wifi. I and my colleague had problems connecting to the Wifi automatically, but figured out the correct settings and set it manually, and it was fine. Considering the location of the hotel, I think it is good value for money.

The Hotel Royal Leipzig was excellent value for money. It was a friendly hotel and during our stay we were impressed by how quiet it was at night. The excellent breakfast included in the price was a real bonus. The location of the hotel close to the rail station and near to the centre of the old town was excellent .

The location of the hotel is excellent for seeing the inner city and easy to find driving into the city. Breakfast was very good. One drawback - If we discussed a problem with the desk personnel they would tell us to check back with them in the morning, but that person was usually not on duty for several more days, making it hard to resolve a problem.

No rooms as booked - moved to \"partner hotel\".\n

Arrived at hotel to be told they had double booked and that there were no rooms available for us. They could move us to a \"partner hotel\" 10 minutes walk away and upgrade the rooms. We had little choice but to agree. After a 15 minute taxi ride we arrived at our hotel and our \"upgraded\" rooms. The hotel was in a a remote and rather run-down part of Leipzig and a long way from the centre which is where I had booked. The rooms were OK at best but were certainly not an upgrade of any sort and the windows were next to a busy tram line so very little sleep!

I would never book at the Hotel Royal International in Leipzig - they are liars and cheats. Stay away.

Other than the really ugly red and green furniture and brocade things and putting green carpet, the hotel room is very large includes a full kitchen, has a modern clean look and comfy beds and great pillows. Excellent quality standard European breakfast with egg dishes, meat cheese muscli yogurt and a large WHOLE pot of decent coffee per person! Great location in easy walk of sights in old city and new museums. Wifi works great and fast!! Visit the history of DDR musuem downtown a few minutes walk from hotel.

the room is very big but using the light bulk like a tiny small room. the living room is terribly dark, can't read, can't see things clearly...the kettle is full of dust inside like no one had ever use it for years....the corridors are very old. There is no air condition in the room, living room is not too bad, but bedroom is terribly hot...even open the window....the hotel really don't deserve four stars. reception is very small, suppose there is free wifi, but when i try to use it, there is no connection, when i ask, the reception lady said, the wireless system had problem....breakfast is ok.

The room advert here is wrong, we expected 2 rooms with 2 double beds and a kitchenette. We got one couch and one double bed, a kettle and a fridge that didn't work. We we asked about this nothing was done. It's a good location but it definitely isn't a 4 star hotel.

Close to the railway station, which was what we wanted. Decor is a little dated, but our room was excellent, with plenty of space, a small kitchenette, and very comfortable. We asked for a quiet room and we were pleased to find that we could not hear the sound of traffic even with the windows open. Breakfasts were excellent, with plenty of choice of both hot and cold food. We did breakfast fairly early except on one morning when there were a lot more people and some things were no longer available, so we would advise getting down to the breakfast room before the rush! We did not take laptop so cannot comment on wifi availability. We would definitely stay there again.

Gepäckaufbewahrung wurde angeboten, als wir unserem koffer abhilen wollten stand er unbeaufsichtigt neben der Rezeption. Ihn hätte jeder nehmen können. Nach ein paar minuten kam die Dame von der Rezeption und erwiderte sehr schnippisch wir hätten ihn ja bei der bahn ins Schließfach bringen können.

Das Besteck zum Eindecken der Tische kommt vom gleiche Tablett auf dem eingesammeltes benutztes Geschirr steht. Mehrmals würde fallen gelassenes Besteck vom Fußboden aufgehoben und weiter zum Eindecken verwendet. Auch die Flure wurden in den 3 Tagen Aufenthalt nicht gereinigt. Der Bereich vor dem Fahrstuhl verschmutzte Täglich mehr. Auch die Zimmer Ausstattung war bereits in die Jahre gekommen. Auf keinen Fall zu empfehlen.

Das Zimmer war eine Katastrophe. In einem angeblichem 4 Sterne Hotel steht eine Küchenzeile!?
Das Bad war schlecht! Das Waschbecken war kaputt, der Lüfter war so laut, als ob ein Hubschrauber landet.
Das wenige Personal beim Frühstück war völlig überfordert!! Der gesamte Aufenthalt war das Geld nicht Wert !!!
Starker unangenehmer Geruch im Fahrstuhl kam auch noch hinzu. Und und und

Zimmer sind gut und das Personal zuvorkommend.
Haben uns familiär getroffen und im Zills-Tunnel gespeist.
Heute besuchten wir das Völkerschlachtdenkmal in Leipzig! Sehr sehenswert!

Das Zimmer hatte Blick auf die Straße in der 1. Etage und war sehr laut, auch nachts. Die Betten waren hart. Die Sauberkeit ließ zu Wünschen übrig. Das Mobiliar war lieblos im Raum verteilt. Der Kühlschrank machte laute Geräusche. Das Bad hatte schon im Punkto Sauberkeit bessere Tage gesehen, vor allem der Boden. Das Waschbecken verlor Wasser aus dem Ablauf. Für 2 Gäste gab es 1 Glas. Der Service im Frühstücksraum war unfreundlich und überfordert.
Das Essensangebot war ausreichend und auch gut angerichtet sowie lecker.
WLAN gab es keins, trotz mehrfacher Bemängelung. Die Parkmöglichkeiten waren überteuert und nicht wirklich Hotelnah.
Vorteilhaft die Nähe zur Innenstadt, den öff. Verkehrsmitteln und dem Zoo.
Dreieinhalb Sterne hat das Hotel jedoch nicht verdient.

Ich verstehe einen Punkt nicht: Man darf ins Zimmer erst 15 Uhr. Aber man muss das Zimmer spätestens um 11 Uhr verlassen. Mein Vorschlag ist: Wenn das Zimmer frei steht, dann sollte es möglich sein auch früher Schlüßel für Zimmer zu bekommen. Das Verlassen von Zimmer könnte eventuell bis 12 Uhr verlängert werden.

Mein Aufenthalt war rundum angenehm und sehr bequem. Das Frühstück war super. Jederzeit würde ich das Hotel weiterempfehlen und selbst wieder nutzen.
