Unclean room, worn out furniture with dirt marks. King size bed is actually two adjacent beds. not worth the deluxe room upgrade…

Breakfast didn’t even have orange juice (the fancy computerized machine dispensed tainted water only because the OJ syrup (!) container was empty) When we notified staff, the eventually just turned off the option on the machine. I had to ask three times for orange juice, after they had been claiming twice that they had no other option than the syrup machine. we finally got good orange juice from the kitchen… Not worth paying $25 each for this experience.

The pool is nice and relatively warm.

It's in a nice quiet area but perhaps a little too quiet. It's not too far to the inner city but you do have to walk a fair bit or get a taxi to get to the local bars or if you wanted to eat out.

Old Towels and Bathrobe. Room was dusty, toiletries not enough for two. We asked for a small plate, utensils, cups and teaspoons they didn’t gave them to us for use, poor service! Website pictures of swimming pool looks very nice but in reality it not that nice, the water is too cold and we have to pay for using the pool. We were very disappointed! Sorry to say that this Hotel is not recommendable.

Dated hotel with hidden charges

Very dated hotel. Not up to standard for this top end brand. On check in was told that our room was next to the lift and was very noisy. They could upgrade us to a quiet room for only Euro 15. Twin beds in every room. No tea and coffee facilities in the room. Charged you Euro 5 for every individual visit to the pool. Picture of the hotel was taken with a very special lens as it was much smaller in reality. Many other nicer options.

The Westin is well located - just round the corner from the main station and close to the centre of Leipzig. The rooms are a good size and there is plenty of wardrobe space. You get free WiFi (although on our recent stay it was out of action for one day). The downside is that the rooms no longer have a fridge/mini bar - I've stayed there several times and a couple of years ago the fridges were removed and replaced by a area in reception that sells a limited range of drinks etc. Personally I'd much rather have a fridge in the room. There are also no facilities in the room to make tea/coffee - but it's still my favourite of the three Leipzig hotels I've stayed in.

Good value for money but no real queen bed

We were positively surprised about the room which looked much nicer on the inside than what you might think when looking at the hotel from the outside. Seems to have been renovated not that long ago. Just the bathroom door is a souvenir from the old days. Very friendly staff, easy check in and good location. The only minus is that we booked a room with a queen bed but it was actually a room with two single beds moved together. After asking at reception I was told that all of their beds are like this. So be aware of that since I would have not chosen this hotel if I would have known that before.

The location is excellent, within walking distance to major attractions. The room cost is very reasonable. However the room maintenance can be improved eg the glasses were not cleaned, and one was even cracked so could cut into the lip. The bed is extremely uncomfortable because of the rubberized pad on the mattress making it hot like an oven so I could not sleep until I removed it.

I enjoyed my stay at the Westin in Leipzig. The hotel is located in the city center. Many attractions like the zoo, the opera building, the Gewandhaus, the Thomas church are in walking distance. The room was very clean.
The view from our window over downtown Leipzig was marvelous.
On December 6th ( St.Nickolaus day in Germany) we had sweet surprise in front of our door.
I would definitely stay again at this hotel.

Stayed for three nights and room was fine but hotel is big with lots of rooms and floors. Used fitness room which was basic but some machines were broken and waiting for repair. Did not use bar or restaurant due to cheaper options nearby. Getting ice for the room required some work. Seems to be hotel for those that like to spend more money than me. Location is quite close to railway station but a bit farther than other hotels to old part of town. Got reasonable online rate. But they charge you to use pool and sauna which is weird. Basic wifi was fine for email. TV's have some English cable channels.

The hotel is centrally located and vast.
It also has the added benefit of A/C which was particularly helpful given the searingly hot temperatures in Leipzig.
The breakfast is very good but at 15 Euros quite expensive.
The only downside is a fee of 5 Euro to use the hotel pool

I've stayed at the Westin six times - the rooms are a good size but since the redecoration, they have less wardrobe space and they've also removed the mini bar from the rooms which I find a bit annoying - along with removing the mini bar, they've removed the unit which the mini bar used to be in, which included a useful mirror.

Convenient for train station

This is an average, characterless hotel that has no special qualities. There is a curious room cleaning policy which enables one to avoid having towels and bedding changed, but in our case meant that there was no room servicing at all for the first 3 nights. While one applauds the unnecessary daily towel and bedding replacement, it should not extend to a total failure to service the room.

Leipzig is vibrant centre of music for Germany the 2 churches are where Bach was Kantor and where most of his sacred music was first performed that is why the world is increasingly descending on the city and why we went there. The Xmas market lasts for 2 months and is quite an experience.

This is a modern, well-maintained hotel almost next door to the Hauptbahnhof and just outside the city's old town. It has no faults at all, except that the breakfast they offer is so expensive I wonder anyone takes it. 25 euros they ask for, when you can get a perfectly good breakfast in the Hauptbahnhof for well under 5 euros.

Hotel is near the main train station, Leipzig Hbf. It is about a 10mins walk although the town Center is about 15-20mins walk. Room was fantastic especially the bed. Didn't try the breakfast or facilities. I heard there is a charge to use the pool.

I stayed here two years in a row for the supercomputing conference. The hotel is clean and the rooms are very nice. Nice lobby bar is an added plus. A week of WiFi costs 25 euros and the speed is quite good.

I had a good experience.Staff are excellent and helpful .one thing interesting for sport lovers you can rent sport clothes and shoes for 5 euros only so no need to pack any extra clothes or shoes. Location to City Centre and train station is great.Taxis are available all the time.

Avoid, avoid, avoid.

This hotel's business model is to rip off customers they'll presumably never see again, rather than building lasting relationships and a positive reputation through customer satisfaction. Unlike every other hotel in Europe, at least that I've been to, there is no free internet available, even in a public area. Wi-Fi, wired, quick emergencies, it doesn't matter - it's all for a fee, and fees aren't just a token charge but staggeringly high rates, knowing that, well, people need internet, especially while traveling. What's more, I found that the bill was even far in access of what I had agreed to and carefully tallied up on my own according to their promised rates, but had no way to dispute it. My friends stayed at two other hotels around the area at this time and they were shocked when they saw what I had to deal with; the rest are just ordinary hotels. I tried another hotel in the same neighborhood and was much better taken care of there. There is also room service available at prices that are high, but admittedly comparable to what I have paid at luxury hotels, which is what the Westin seems to want to pass itself off as. Unfortunately the quality and quantity of the food is not comparable. We're talking low-grade meat and potato chips out of a bag. It's all very meticulously constructed to maximize profit while minimizing value for the customer and if you prepay for a hotel for a vacation, this is exactly what you don't want to have to worry about once you arrive.

The Westin Leipzig is a nice place with very friendly staff, a beautiful lobby, and with an efficient business air to it.

I immediately wasn't crazy about the fact that no Internet access was available for anything less than 15 euros a day, but this is an unfortunately common staple of \"high end\" hotels, so I wasn't overly surprised. The fact that the advertised pool amenity also has a special pay per use surchage did surprise me though, and not in a good way. Give it another five years and this hotel will be charging for use of in-room towels.

Its location is a rock solid B. It's quite close to the central train station, which is very convenient, but getting to anything interesting from it generally requires crossing some busy and not-particularly-pedestrian-friendly roads. Its immediate vicinity is fairly sterile and mostly devoid of anything interesting.

The rooms were clean, but small. They had a \"master switch\" near the entrance instead of the more European-typical key card slot, which was nice, because at least I could charge my laptop while I was out of the room.

Leipzig is quite a beautiful city, so I'd very much recommend staying at something a little lively and inside the city center (which is possible at similar price points to the Westin). That said, if you're just looking for a bed with reasonable cleanliness and helpful staff, the Westin isn't a bad choice.

The Westin Leipzig is a beautiful hotel. Staff were great and spoke English which was nice. We had drinks in the lobby bar and the service staff were very attentive. Room was very tasteful with a big bath tub.
Within 3-4 blocks of the hotel is tons of shopping, museums, restaurants and cafés.

The Westin is a quality hotel. I got a good discount for early booking, and, on arriving, a free upgrade to a Deluxe room on the 26th floor (the top, apart from the restaurant, I think). This had a great view over the city, and fortunately the lifts were very fast! The room was very clean with quality fixtures and a good, firm mattress, the air con was near silent and I heard no noise from other rooms. I was at a music festival and often sleeping past midday, which was easy as the curtains completely blocked out the daylight, and the cleaning staff observed the \"do not disturb\" sign and didn't bother me (not always the case with hotels in Leipzig, I have found). They simply cleaned the room at other times (sometimes I was leaving the hotel as late as 3pm). If I have a criticism, it would be that pretty much all \"extras\" are chargeable - for example, don't expect free wi-fi. On booking, in a reservation was made against my credit card for this reason, despite me informing the staff that I wasn't interested in any \"extras\". I wasn't charged, of course, and perhaps the card reservation is fair enough, but it does slightly imply that the hotel doesn't trust their guests not to run off with the contents of the mini-bar. Overall, I would certainly stay there again, although there are one or two other quality hotels in Leipzig that I personally prefer as I have found them slightly less stiff / formal.

The staff at the hotel are the friendliest German hotel staff that I have ever met! I travel in Germany relatively often for work and vacation and most hotel staff are not that friendly nor helpful. The staff at the Westin were warm, pleasant, and very helpful.

Great, but a booking glitch

I was looking on Expedia for a room to suit my wife, small child and I for our visit to Leipzig. When I saw a \"Classic Room\" with a double bed and a twin bed offered at an attractive rate, I leapt at it, as it ideally met our needs and I have spent many nights in Westin hotels around the world over the years and know the hotel will be a pleasant place to stay. The hotel is also located close to the Hauptbahnhof and an easy walk to the centre of town.

However, when I got to the hotel, I was told that no such room existed (despite the fact I had a hard copy of the Expedia page which described it). I was later told that this page was just an \"offer\" and that the booking confirmation showed just a double bed (which is what we got; well, two twin beds pushed together as one often sees in Europe). I must also admit that I've never seen a Westin room with this \"Classic\" configuration, but the offer was clear.

So, we didn't get either the room we thought we had booked or a clear explanation as to why not. However, we otherwise did have a very pleasant stay, topped off by the presentation of a beautiful tiger teddy to our 2 year old on departure.

20 Eur for 24 Hours Wifi...

Hotel staff and cleanliness first class. Location okay, but nearer hotels to the centre. Decor in rooms now a little dated when compared to hotels built in last 5 years or so but acceptable. main gripe, like alot of chains still, the internet rate for 24 hours was 20 Eur. I pay less than this for a month's internet at the office. This should be inclusive in the room, would have got a score of 4 otherwise.

I'm confused...

I was NOT convinced that this was a 4.5 star hotel. At least not by North American standards. I paid too much money for what it was actually worth. Apart from the location (which is super close to the centre, but surrounded by strange abandoned buildings), the hotel staff were super nice, the room-service food was AMAZING, the room itself sort of sucked. Our window was broken (it didn't tilt), and the shower head handle was broken (the showerhead would flop around and make a wet mess on the floor), the whole room was a heinous beige colour. The view from the 20th floor overlooking downtown was great. But it just wasn't 4.5 stars. I've stayed in 4star hotels that have been way nicer. The rooms were just a little worn and shabby. The TV was small, and the BED. or should I say BEDS. I ordered a room for 2ppl (a double room), which in NA would mean a queen or king size bed...but not here apparently. It was just two single beds pushed together. It was weird.

ThThe Hotel fits with the great character of the city.

The hotel staff is very nice and helpful and the hotel itself is superb. worth the money. My only major gripe is that the hotel main doors face opposite from the main railway station (Hauptbahnhoff), which means that one has to walk around the building to enter. This is nuts, when there is a perfectly good entrace (to the lunge / hotel bar) on the side facing the main station, but for some reason the hotel \"locks\" that door quite often.

I never tried the breakfast buffet: There are plenty of nifty restaurants within a few minutes walk of the hotel.

Provide Free Internet

Polite and professional staff. However, the hotel chain need to come up to speed in providing what their North American counterparts provide in rooms. Iron and ironing boards, alarm clocks, 110-240 volts, round and flat pins are necessities and not luxury. Come on this is the information age, provide 1-5 computers with internet access to your clientele for free. Its good business.

Excellent hotel in Leipzig

We stayed at the Westin for the WGT weekend & were very impressed. It's about a 5 minute walk from the train station & the view we had of the city from our room was amazing. Rooms are nicely sized & very clean.

Leipzig luxury

Well appointed hotel in the centre of the city. 500 metres from the old centre of town and 300 m from the train station. Comfortable rooms with great bed, room safe, mini bar and all you would expect, but there was no iron in the room. Staff were very friendly and spoke good English.

Westin Leipzig

Centrally located within easy walking distance of the Hauptbahnhof - the main train station. The city's streetcar hub is right at the main station, also, so you can easily get to just about anywhere in Leipzig. It's important to note that the train station is nothing like what might come to mind if you think of main train stations in the U.S. It is clean, safe, and has two sublevels of bright, attractive shops and clean, comfortable, and affordable food stores and restaurants. It even has a post office!

\"Very impressed despite the exterior look\"

The hotel was very pleasant, very plush looking with an extremely welcoming feeling. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful. We took the option to upgrade our room to the 24th floor and found the novel glass shower a lot of fun. The room was very clean with all the modern facilities you would expect to find in a 4-5 star hotel. The hotel food is expensive but very nice. We eat in the Japanese YAMATO restaurant, what a fantastic meal! Great atmosphere with a personal touch if you want to impress someone this is a real special treat. Amazing sushi!

Our only disappointment was not having enough time to experience the Spa and rooftop restaurant. Maybe next time. To improve a nearly perfect hotel would be for them to include tea and coffee in the rooms.
