Good free parking, a bit dated but ok, there was a fan provided but the room was still extremely warm. The bed was comfortable but the mattress was smaller than the bed frame. Staff were pleasant from the little interaction we had as didn’t make breakfast! Great location for what we wanted!

We didn't take up our booking because we were advised by our friends and relatives (one is a member of the local constabulary) who live locally that the hotel is filthy, poorly managed and used more as a hostel for undesirables. We were advised not to stay there, consequently we didn't even see the establishment so cannot confirm whether that is the case.

I liked the big sink in the bathroom, but the toilet roll was very thin and there were only about 100 sheets on each toilet roll. They gave us three rolls, and I had to ask for a fourth. I had blocked sinuses so used about a full toilet roll to blow my nose.

The shower was awful. Drippy and scalding hot. In fact, it took me about ten minutes to get it to a temperature where I could step in without burning my skin. The bath fills up very fast, but the water is extremely hot. The floor is also very slippy so I had to use towels just to make it safe during shower or bath time.

Now onto the beds. They were terrible. Very lumpy and uncomfortable. I wonder if it was memory foam as memory foam makes me sweat, and I hate it.

The bathroom needs some new grouting.

It was annoying that we could hear the doors banging at all hours. Invest in some doors that close quietly, so as to be considerate of other guests.

You would think at the prices this hotel is charging that they could renovate the rooms. If this was a room via airbnb, it is doubtful that they would even be booked.

Although the breakfast was “free”, they seemed to make an effort on the first morning as the full english breakfast appeared hot and fresh, but the second day the beans were very vinegary, the bacon rock hard, and the sausage and hashbrown okay. I didn’t bother going down for breakfast on the last morning.

They need to invest in new mattresses for their beds because a good nights sleep is important.

I don't usually write negative hotel reviews, especially after a one-night stay, but after spending four nights at Broadfield Park Hotel in Rochdale, I feel it's important to share my experience.
My husband and I were initially given a room with a very odd layout, where the TV was positioned away from the bed, making it uncomfortable to watch. Reception advised us to return the next morning, and to their credit, we were offered a choice of alternative rooms.
Unfortunately, the second room had extremely poor shower pressure throughout our stay, with the water sometimes coming out in little more than droplets. Despite reporting the issue, it continued.
Housekeeping was virtually non-existent. During our four-night stay, our towels were never changed, the bed was never made, the bin was never emptied, and toiletries and toilet roll were not replenished.
The mattresses in both rooms were very worn and uncomfortable, leaving both of us with aches and pains. The hotel feels dated and in need of refurbishment and, in my opinion, does not meet the standard expected of a three-star hotel.
There were also occasions when reception was unattended. At one point, I had to find a member of staff elsewhere in the hotel to locate the receptionist, while another guest was waiting to check out.
The only positives were the convenient location, free parking, and an acceptable breakfast with a halal option available.

Really pleasant and helpful staff. Great breakfast and very helpful when enquiring about gluten free options. Great price for our stay. However, the hotel has seen better days. In need of a refurbishment. Tired fixings and fittings. The worst was the mattress. Well past its life. Although clean, it provided no support at all. The springs are so weak, I felt the hard bed base through the mattress. The bathroom sink plug didn't hold water. Bathroom light was so dim as was the shaving mirror, I had to use my phone's torch to shave. The TV remote was not compatible with the TV in the room and did not work. TV in need of updates, which require the proper remote. Channels available were very limited. The TV was difficult to operate with no remote and one function button on the TV itself. This could be a beautiful hotel if it received the proper maintenance and updated fittings and fixtures. New mattress urgently.

This hotel is a victoria aged building with impressive architecture. It beats Premier Inn and Travel Lodge prices with free parking and free breakfast, from limited menu plus tea,coffee and orange juice, free WiFi and hotel TV plan offers extra free stations to plow through. BBC I PLAYER AND NETFLIX ect.. Both my wife and I enjoyed our five night stay

Mattress on the bed was ruined, no springs at all, asked to move room and was given a new room very quickly. Mattress was the same condition. Church bells ringing all evening which I’m shocked no one has mentioned in the reviews and there’s no mention of this when booking. Bathroom floor tiles were broke, another layer had been laid on top of broken floor which were also broke. Very poor room overall, will never stay here again - worst nights sleep I’ve ever had

we wanted somewhere for an overnight stay after flying back from Greece to Manchester before driving back to the north east.
I'll start with the pros. beds were clean and very comfy.
tea/facilities in the room were welcome.
staff lovely.
good and safe parking.
very quiet hotel.
breakfast was delicious and just what we needed before a 2 hour plus journey.
5 minutes walk to wetherspoons where we went for tea and couple of drinks.
cons. yes it was a little dirty in places ie main passageways etc.
new flooring, some decor etc will make it a lovely place.
a bit nippy because the heating was off.
we paid £120 for 2 adults and a child for a room and lovely breakfast..
we wouldn't hesitate to return if we fly from Manchester again.
you expect 5 star you'll pay 5 star prices.

In general hotel out of date. No central heating. Electric heaters in the room. In a bath in 2 taps hot water - no cold 🙄😀There was at least 3 inches of dirt on the window ledges on the stars. Breakfast mini portions and one glass of juice. Max 1 star hotel. 1 star for clean room. Never again.

This seems to be a once great hotel fallen on harder times. I think I expected that, having read the reviews. However it suited my needs for the night and the price including parking and breakfast was extremely competitive.

The staff were friendly and helpful. I arrived early, didn't want to pay an early check in fee, especially on such a nice day to take in the surroundings, but they let me register my car to avoid parking fines.

I had a much better nights sleep than the night before in a chain hotel, the bed was comfier. However I did get woken early by the bells chiming every 15 minutes on the nearby church tower.

lol when I told my staff where I’d booked they said your staying in the murder hotel (no murders have actually taken place btw) but is there was a hotel you could be murdered in this is the place !!!!
I had to share my room with about 25 silver fish insects running around my bathroom and when I showed videos of the rather massive insects I was told we will get pest control out lol ! Course you will ;) the school next door means if you leave for work at anytime between 8-9 am you are not going anywhere ! The parents are quite adamant you have no right being on the same road as them !!! I had to join the school drop off line just to get out!!!! My children are 26, 21 and 19 and I didn’t have them with me to drop off to school ! This place needs some serious looking at and some honest on the booking page

The dilapidated room looked like a movie scene from the Bottom TV program. Firstly the very tired and literally held together with string approach was too much. The paint is mismatched in the room. The blinds dont cover the windows, the toilet area had en-grimed filth at the base. The shower rail was not attached to its own fixing and some terrible makeshift thing held it to the ceiling. Over the decades there are still bits of shower attachments spread around the wall not in use and on the theme of this screw holes scattered around the walls like bullet holes.

Breakfast was a let down with a single sausage, bacon, egg no heat and not enjoyable...

The inconsiderate guests were up at 12am- 5am holding court loudly on their phones, banging around on the doors and generally scaring my 7 year old child who didnt understand why people could be so loud.

Reception were informed by phone but failed to address the concerns.

Dont stay here if you want a to stay in or around rochdale with any sense of what standards are.

Nothing went well, You need to remove this hotel from you listing its terrible, stayed in better hostels. It NOT good for your business or guests.
The pictures for the hotel are nothing like the hotel inside or out, its being used as emergency . If we hadn't arrived so late and already paid would have gone to the Hilton or Toby. or if I had a way of contacting you I would have asked for an alternative.
The rooms are nothing like the pictures; the facilities are not as listed, Bathroom and decor are terrible. We got upgraded to room 110 a 4 poster bed with pillows so thin you could do without, with no drapes or curtain, just blinds that don't blackout.
Service is none existant, breakfast waited over 10 minutes before I could find anyone in the kitchen, reception not manned. Breakfast deep fried even the bacon, egg swimming in oil, toast cold.

This use to be a brilliant hotel, like the pictures, thought it might be a little tired but what a SHOCK.

Plus Point - the heating in the room worked.

There is so much wrong with this place that it need a total revamp and re-decor.

Bathroom is a health hazard and looked dirty, mould, broken towel rail, no bath towels, no shampoo, no hairdryer, bath robes, no radio etc.

If fact they should be sued under the Trade descriptions act and mis-selling of goods act.

Thats as well as breaking health & safety rules like propping an automatic fire door open with a fire extinguisher.

It would have been a good stay except for one thing...the bed mattress was terrible and I spent the night tossing and turning and only managed 3 hours sleep and I was speaking at a funeral the next day so it wasnt good. Eveything else was great so if they could just provide mattresses where the springs dont bite into your back, shoulders and thighs it would be a great place to stay

Staff were doing their best but the hotel need some TLC and money spent to get it up to standard. Not the worst place but the previous write ups are obvious outdated and their haydays are in the past.
Without the staff Luke and Carl i would not have stayed an extra night. They were the hotel. Carls food was spot on great. Lukes attention was also great. Hotel itself not so. Motel stroke canteen but potential is there ,just needs a lot of attention.

Let's start with, this is the modern day and the kids wanted WiFi to watch their programmes. WiFi was not working all weekend. The downstairs bar area toilets had broken cubicle door locks and one of the toilets didn't even flush. The water pressure in the shower and bath was garbage on 201. There was no plug for the bath and I had to ask for one. Great when you have a toddler who won't stay put. The food want brilliant, deep fried mushrooms, who does that? No kids menu but they did get my youngest what he wanted but no price was given. Considering they sell to attract families, there was nothing for the kids to do. The windows in the room were sealed shut so I couldn't open them for air. They've attempted to make an effort downstairs with the decor but the rooms and service need a massive overhaul. And do something for the little ones.

Rochdale's a nice town but this hotel was not,

I would not stay here again, some of the staff were rude and not very helpful, their door swipe system was not working so a member of staff had to escort you to the room to let you in, At breakfast you were hurried to vacate your table as there was a queue and the area was not big enough to cater for the guests. The whole place did not give off any good vibes.

Turned up at 10.30pm to find no heating, no hot water and the room keys didn't work. Staff tried their best but we had a terrible first night. Situation got no better for the second night and we ended up checking out and going home to the Isle of Wight a 250 trip over night. Really not happy with this hotel.

Bed extremely comfortable but a few things could be better!! The plug was too small for the bath, one of the plug sockets didn’t work, the doors are a pain to open as the key cards need a little jiggle before they open. The door didn’t close properly and you had to use the key card on the way out before it would shut properly.

Have reported the Hotel to rochdale environmental health dept as I have received extensive bite marks on my body from Bed Bugs.
I am still waiting for them to reply as was only there 1 night ago.
This is the first time I have ever had this from my many nights in hotels over the last 20 years.
I have been advised to see my Doctor due to the severity of the bites (over 20).

An old building but we'll-maintained over the years. The place would benefit from a little modernisation (for example, an elevator as the staircases between floors are very narrow, especially when carrying a large suitcase). However, this is just a minor thing and those narrow staircases are all original to the building and part of its charm
Cleanliness is generally very good, although there is a little room for improvement.
The one thing that set The Broadfield apart was its staff! Every member of staff I spoke to was very friendly and personable. Nothing was too much trouble. Overall, an excellent experience.

Parking was easy and safe and the room was compact but clean, comfortable and modern with a nice en-suite shower room. Definitely recommended and I will stay here again if I am in the area.

The hotel itself is in need of some upgrades to the fabric of the old building, but otherwise happy with it.
There is a good sized bar with food.
Everyone went out of their way to be helpful. They organised taxis for us to get to a wedding and advised local transport information .

The price of a room is unbeatable at £40 per night, and the building itself is interesting - late Victorian/ Edwardian with a stunning huge stained and leaded glass window in the centre. In the middle of Broadfield Park and at the top of a hill, it is very quiet, but only 5 minutes' walk from Rochdale town centre. The food was very good and reasonably priced, and the staff kind and helpful. The bed was very comfortable, the room and bathroom contained everything you would need, and everything was impeccably clean. The furniture and fixtures are not ultra-modern, but serve their purpose perfectly well. Some minor points need attention, such as a couple of missing light bulbs (but several that worked), and a curtain rail which definitely needing replacing. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel, which would need only a small amount of spending to eliminate any defects.

DON’T STAY HERE!

The room was very dated and grubby snd smelt of smoke. The carpet was threadbare and stained, light switches were filthy, curtains shabby, hot water dangerously hot with no warning sign, shower worst I’d ever had with weak power and kept going from boiling to cold. Heating was on throughout hotel all night on midsummers day making it unbearable and difficult to sleep. Everything in room very dated. Card keys never worked and involved a long walk back to reception each time, staff said it was an ongoing problem and the system was being looked at. Corridors smelt horrible. We couldn’t wait to escape the next morning and skipped breakfast. Absolutely dreadful hotel.

I booked the bridal suite specifically for the reason that it had a bath with jets. The bath did not work. And when reported to reception, wasnt given an apology. Was told maintainance would be informed. I paid extra for a room and the one reason didnt work

Nice hotel with friendly staff.

Nice old building with character. The ground floor has been refurbished and they will start on the other 2 floors soon.
Our room on the first floor was well presented. I appreciated the mirrors and 2 plug sockets each side of the bed. The bed was comfortable. The room had character and a nice view over the park, even though it rained the whole time we were there.
I also liked the fact that we could turn the radiators to whatever temperature we liked. Useful for drying wet coats. There was a nice lamp on the work desk and individual reading lights by the bed as well as the overall room light. It was nice to be able to control the lighting and temperature in the room and was much better than standard ‘one size fits all’ hotel rooms.
The only negative for the room was the fact that the shower over the bath was lukewarm but the water in the sink was hot. Perhaps this will be sorted when the en-suites are modernised.
We didn’t have evening meal as we were visiting family but the prices seemed very reasonable. The choice at breakfast was limited- no pastries or fruit but there was yoghurt and cooked breakfast on offer. I had an omelette which was cooked to perfection and my husband declared the full English very good.
The breakfast waiter was very friendly and helpful.
We only stayed one night but would definitely go back.

Stayed in room 117 which is in desperate need of renovations. The bed wasn't the best and there was no cold water which made the shower/bath a painful experience. Not sure when the last time it had a good clean either as there was tree bark and leaves all over the windowsill and dresser. You get what you pay for i suppose. The lady on reception was lovely and made sure we were well looked after. Thank you very much!

Good value

Room was clean and comfortable (if a little dated, but not really an issue), staff were friendly and helpful. Easy enough to find and within walking distance of town and the train station. The room was quite stuffy and warm even with the fan on and the window open, not sure if that was just because of the position of our room!

Room very hot with a small window that opened.
Bath had big chips in the enamel.
Staff did not seem happy and made no attempt to check whether and earlier than 3pm was possible.

Would not stay again, friends who also stayed had the same experience.

Beautiful old place.

Nice old listed building. We had a midweek stay so it was very quiet but the staff were helpful even when they couldn’t always help with our requests. Room was small but nice and clean. Bed not particularly comfy but again for the price no complaints.

Had issues with door cards so didn't av card to get in our room ad 2 b let in off staff cleaning not done proper found peanuts under bed staff r great John night staff was very helpful
