The spa area felt quite cold particularly around the pool so not very conducive to relaxing on the sun beds.
The temperature of the pool was quite cool. Best to go in before using any of the thermal journey!
Rooms starting to need redecorating in places and my air conditioning unit in Room 313 was leaking water onto the carpet below.
Breakfast choice was really good and food was hot.
WiFi was very good.
Plenty of free parking at the hotel

We booked this hotel and saw some of the reviews and were really anxious about what it was going to be like BUT and a big BUT we could not fault the stay whatsoever. Spa area was impressive with lots to offer well kept and clean. We had breakfast and the food was spot on. Staff were all super friendly and polite. The mini fridge was broken but still fully stocked with a vast array of drinks. Honestly you will not be disappointed if you go. I read the pool was could etc and for us it was beautifully warm maybe the other guests came when something was broken who knows but the place is amazing ❤️

Have stayed twice before and both times rooms were immaculate but this time was little disappointed as there was dust on top of head board which fell on to pillows. Floor boards were extremely creaky and made lot of noise every where we walked around the room. Then in early hours f morning people n room above ours were shouting loudly and sounded like were fighting and throwing things around making a lot of noise which was very disturbing and seemed to take a very long time for hotel staff to deal with so did not sleep well at all.

Nice hotel. Very nice room and an excellent large bathroom. Two minus points though. Room was freezing cold when I arrived. Got told to turn on the air conditioning but that took nearly two hours to warm the room. Then got charged £7.20 for a pint of Moretti. A bit excessive.

Our room was changed from Room 306 to Room 314 due to several cleanliness issues, including a white pill, a broken nail, scum on the bed frame, and a dirty sheet found under the bed.

I brought these concerns to the attention of the morning receptionist on 1 February, who offered us complimentary breakfast and a room change before we left for the day. However, upon our return, the afternoon receptionist was unaware of this arrangement, which resulted in a delay while the issue was resolved.

Could do with an update, scruffy paint work, tired decor, it was clean so did what we needed it to do.Had a gorgeous braised lamb dish for dinner but wouldn’t book breakfast again, the hot breakfast wasn’t even warm and i think the pastry option had been there all week, I took one bite of a pain du chocolate and nearly broke my tooth. Not all the pillows had pillow cases on and the pillows were so uncomfortable, it was like laying on a brick. Do not think I would stay again.

The corridors smelt of sweat the room was of no quality for the price paid we didn’t get not even a hot drinks in the room or any kettle to make it the tea or coffee when asked we were told to pay extra the room had no heating we were frozen had a bad sleep the TV only had
one channel working the staff were not helpful I would not recommend this hotel to anyone it’s a scam with the pictures posted online & waste of money

Clean room good size and all amenities except a room safe. Staff courteous and fast efficient check in. Good breakfast selection but closed at 930. Check out 1200 so no rush to clear room. Good gym facilities but did not have chance to use this time. One slight issue was tbe extremly hard pillows. Othetwise all goodd.

The room was cosy and spacious, the beds were comfy. Overall lovely room and lovely hotel, a bit dated but that reflects in the price and although could do with a revamp it was pristine.
Breakfast was lovely, good coffee lots of options for English or continental breakfast lovers equally. We had dinner in the restaurant the first night and it was delicious.
Good sized pool which again was a bit basic HOWEVER the spa was surprisingly nice! 2 different steam rooms, 2 different dry saunas, an ice room and jacuzzi plus swim outside pool. Well equipped gym as well. Absolute treat for the price cannot complain. We’ll visit again!

Not the best weekend for a family wedding. Booked 2 nights and on the second day was told to leave my room at 12.00! Room was cold, hot water took 5 mins to come though not instant. Dirty cups for a brew. Some stains on headboard. In all no attention to detail. No one at the bar to get a drink, other people was waiting too. Don't think i would stay again unless things improved.

The room was cold and felt damp. I had to turn the radiator on, then decided to have a hot drink where i found two dirty cups, one i had to wash. Then i had a phone call from reception at 12 to tell me to keave the room asap. But i had booked for 2 nights. The shower took 5 mins to warm up andbthe dan wascnitvwitking in the bathroom so everything ws wet. All little things but does need attention to detail. Also when attending the wedding party, no mone was at the bar i had to wait around but then they came from the back room. This happened twice and some other guests went to the other wedding bar to get served. All not good. I wouldn't recommend to friends.

This is a beautiful hotel but the Spa was closed for refurbishment and this was not listed on the details on hotel.com. This was a defining feature that we selected this hotel upon so we were really disappointed as it looked lovely. Other than that, the room was ok, small but perfectly appointed and comfortable. The service was a little off at the restaurant; friendly but patchy. Good vfm though.

When I checked in it was early hours of the morning due to travel. The property doors were open, no one was on the desk and the 24hr number wasn’t working. I could see my check in card over the desk so I had to fish it to me to be able to get in my room. I could’ve been anyone. There were plus sockets behind to hanging off the wall in my room and a dirty mug. The hotel staff were not as knowledgeable as they used to be and it all felt robotic. Lost its old charm. I tried to get a drink, which was a painful process because my card wasn’t linked to my room. The price of the drink was ridiculous. I’m from the south and am used to it, but London prices in Rochdale?? City centre I get. I have family nearby so have visited many many times over the years. All looks smart on face of it but behind the scenes it’s totally lost its local out of the city charm. Wasn’t awful and was pretty clean but soulless! Shame. Lift also not great. Main concern the security side!

The breakfast we payed for and were very pleased with , it had all that we needed (sausage , bacon, egg , hash brown, beans etc )and juice , coffee and im sure if you looked (which i didn't) there were vegetarian and vegan options also. We visited the spa while there and was very impressed with the amenities and also we had massages ...excellant we thought .

An amazing little gem.

Well what an absolute treat this place was. My son and I travel for his sport and to be honest we tend to just book the cheapest place we can find as we’re hardly there. However, this time he asked for a pool to relax after his race. Norton Grange was only £20 more than the budget hotel I was going to book so I booked it. And I am so glad I did. Not one thing I could complain about. Yes it’s a little tired in places but it’s an older hotel, and to be expected but it’s easily the cleanest hotel I’ve stayed in. The room was absolutely amazing. Spacious and comfortable with everything we could possibly need. The pool was a tad chilly but we stumbled upon the Jacuzzi and WOW!! What an amazing facility. So relaxing and absolutely stunning to be open to the outside. Beautiful. We loved it. I was truly floored by how amazing the facilities are with prices so reasonable. We didn’t eat in the restaurant but could tell that it serves delectable food, it was packed. Staff are so friendly and helpful and when we asked if my son’s race bike could be kept inside for safety they didn’t bat an eyelid. They took it and stored it safely for us. We have since booked 3 more visits and will be our go to hotel when ever we race in Manchester in future. The option to pay for early check-in or even use of the facilities early would be great as what with practice and early starts we were so sad to not have more time to enjoy your beautiful hotel. We will be spreading the word.

Room was worn out. Floorboards creaked so badly we just laughed every time we had to move. Every aspect of the room needs a refurbishment. Couldn’t change the temp on the shower which is set at lukewarm and the pressure from it was like a watering can.

Lovely hotel with nice greenery and surroundings. Very friendly and helpful staff in reception.

Only negative i have is that we had some guests opposite us making a racket at 11pm, closing doors very loudly and shouting from outside their door. I had a young baby with me sleeping. When i came out to ask them to quieten down, there was a hotel staff member providing them room service and smiling. I thought this staff member shouldve been asking them to quieten down herself. The noise levels did reduce after speaking to them, but this was the only inconvenience. Otherwise a pleasant stay.

Nice Hotel, but Avoid Ground Floor & Adjoining Roo

The hotel was very clean and well-maintained, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay. Unfortunately, my experience was impacted by the noise levels. I stayed on the ground floor and found it extremely noisy, both from outside and from the adjoining room. The walls are thin, and it felt like I could hear every sound from next door, making it difficult to get much sleep.

If you plan to stay here, I’d recommend avoiding the ground floor and requesting a room that isn’t adjoining to another.

Reserved two twin rooms ,given one twin and a double with foldaway cot .Also given rooms on different floors even though they were booked together nine months ago ,told we couldn’t change as hotel was fully booked .When we complained about the room with the cot bed they suddenly weren’t full and found us another room on the same floor as the other one.Tv remote didn’t work but they sorted at once.Had to request two room keys for twin rooms !

The hotel has a lovely setting and our room was spacious and clean. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Some negative points- one of the bars had problems with accepting card payments meaning you had to use alternative bar in general area (we were at a private function).
The ladies toilets had 5 cubicles and only 2 of the doors locked which is poor.
Breakfast was ok but limited choice and it could have been warmer

THIS IS NOT A 4* HOTEL

This is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in - it is dirty, rundown, and not good value for money.

Noise
We were allocated room 101 and told as we were handed the key that there was a wedding on and we may hear some noise as our room was opposite the wedding. This was an understatement and the hotel made it clear they would not deal with noise complaints. Our room was directly opposite the wedding function room, separated by a corridor no more than 1.5 metres wide. When the evening reception started we may as well have been part of the party. It was bad enough when the door to the function room was closed but when opened by guests it was like we were in a nightclub. My husband had to go and close the door numerous times. This went on until 1am. After that, until 3am we had the noise of the staff cleaning up the room, moving furniture etc as well as being able to hear word for word the conversation and activities of the room next door.

We booked this hotel for a relaxing night away while I was recovering from illness - yet it was far from that. When the function room is being used the hotel should not be booking out this room to guests - a warning about noise after booking is not acceptable.

The room
Smelly, rundown and no soundproofing. No complimentary water etc. only one towel for two of us. Door to bathroom rotten because of water.

The spa
Nothing special. Slimy & slippy pool, unclean.

We were DBB, food was ok.

There were no staff manning the reception at night waited over 30. There was a message that read dial 2424 for attention and when dialed u get straight message saying this mail box is full. Really good stay here at Mecure Norton Grange. Great hotel and spa with a spectacular gym. Rooms nice and clean modern with nice big Smart TV. Friendly Staff and the Breakfast was excellent. Sadly let down by breakfast on the second day, it seems the hotel are unable to cope when at full capacity. I went down to breakfast with ample time left, no hot food was left due to large amounts of people and long queues were forming as food was not being replaced fast enough. Plates were also so hot that I burnt my hand. A refund was not provided for breakfast although the hotel failed to deliver the agreed services.

Stayed on a sunday so the hotel was pretty quiet. Room 303 was a twin i asked for. Was lovely. Had air con. Nice bath with really hot water..beds were comfy too.

The pool and spa was great and it was included in the price. Steam room, sauna, ice room, big jacuzzi that opens up outside.

I've stayed here a few times whilst working in the area, great hotel and super helpful reception staff. Beautiful spa facilities that are included in the room rate. Nice bar area. Room 335 could do with a new mattress is my only gripe.👍👍

Fantastic Hotel

This Mercure is one of the best. Usually come here 2/3 times a year and every time the staff are so welcoming and kind. Privilege rooms are fantastic and worth the extra coin. Gym and Spa facilities are excellent and from my experience not over crowded.
