On the downside restaurant food I had the fish and chips which the batter wasn’t cooked properly and at breakfast a relatively limited choice the fried eggs were cold and the cheap lower quality sausage

The staff were great, one of the radiators didn’t work and was fixed by staff quickly. We stayed 3 nights and on Saturday evening we found that the restaurant wasn’t open, we had to find somewhere locally, we found when we came back there was a notice in reception to say it was not open but we didn’t pass they fly our room

Cleanliness Concerns Due to Recurring Insects

During my stay, I encountered an issue with insects in the room, including a spider and multiple ladybugs. I promptly informed reception, and while the staff attended swiftly and courteously to remove them, the matter persisted, as more ladybugs appeared shortly afterwards.

Although I appreciated the prompt response from the team, the recurrence of this issue significantly impacted the overall comfort of my stay and raises concerns regarding the room’s upkeep and preventative maintenance.

Best Western review.

Great hotel near local transportation just a few pounds to the tram allowing excellent connections to the city centre. A relatively old building but clean and perfectly serviceable. Great staff who are polite and respectful. Restaurant was a typical limited menu but the two meals we had were perfectly acceptable. Reasonably priced. Overall I’d definitely stay there again.

Hotel is very run down. Our Room was very tired. Bathroom had a lot of mould around the mastic sealant in the bath etc. Wanted a cup of tea in the morning, only to find the tea bag wrappers were covered in mould!
I use B.W quite a lot, and this was probably the most run down B.W I've stayed in.

Great staff.

Really noisy room, had window open to let air in and was kept awake by noise of people leaving restaurant and noise in hotel corridor. Corridors and room were in a sorry state, TV remote was absolutely vile, covered in hand grime. Overall cleanliness of bedding, towels and fixtures was spotless. Staff at reception were great, happy and informative. It appears the staff are doing a great job with a run down establishment.

What disappointed us greatly is that now the sports centre is not free to hotel residents. Therefore we missed out on our daily swim !!! We refused to pay extra for the convenience ....

Overall the property was great for a short stay (we stayed 1 night). However, it was really hot in the room and there was no AC. Fan was provided but it wouldn't have done the trick if it was any hotter that day. The fan was also very dusty. It needs some modernisation. I would still recommend this hotel for a short stay.

The garden is beautiful with a variety of birds and wild life. The spa and gym club is excellent. Avoid room 2

Room two has no window and the toilet is so close to the bath that you have to sit with your legs closed. Your bum touches the wall on one side and the bath on the other.

When I was talking to the staff I said I don't have a window they said your in room 2 it's the worst room.

The staff are all very nice but room 2 has the worst bathroom that I have ever had in any hotel. I stay away a lot.
This room should be offered at a cheaper rate. My colleague also stayed and his room and bathroom were fine.

Disappointing Stay at the Dated Hotel

I recently stayed at this hotel and was quite disappointed with my experience. From the moment I entered the room, it was clear that the place was in desperate need of renovation. The decor was very dated, making it feel stuck in another era.

To make matters worse, there was a strong smell of smoke lingering in the room, despite being a non-smoking area. This was particularly off-putting and made it difficult to relax. Additionally, I noticed mold appearing in several corners, which is concerning for both cleanliness and health.

The bed sheets were another letdown; they were visibly dirty and didn’t give off a sense of comfort or hygiene. Overall, my stay was far from pleasant, and I would not recommend this hotel to others until significant improvements are made. I didnt stay I checked out early

The bathroom was clean and enjoyed the light in the mirror. I was not very pleased with the room tho, it smelled very old and not fresh.

Dated unclean room

We were staying at this hotel as we had been invited there for an evening doo for my friends wedding. We were quite disappointed from the start.
On arrival we were told that we had to pay extra for the use of the pool, which we were unaware of, as online it states the hotel has 2 pools. Turns out these are not site, so are at an extra cost.
When we arrived at our room, it was the furthest away and quite a walk from reception. The room was very dated & smelt damp when we entered.
The furniture was very well worn, The carpet was very old and dirty, including rubbish left on the floor.
The pillows were very thin, we had to ask for extra, meaning I slept with 4 pillows. The radiators didn’t work so no way of drying our towels if we had wanted more than one shower. The toilet paper was extremely thin, meaning more than normal was needed to be used.
The shower leaked all over the floor every time it was used, due to the shower screen not fitting correctly. The bath panel was also very dirty and not fitted correctly.
There was snot left on the wall, which is disgusting & the bathroom door handle was also dirty and not even cleaned after house keeping had been in on the 2nd day.
My friends were in rooms further down the corridor and they were very modern, unlike ours.

Great hotel

The hotel is set in lovely grounds, very quiet, the rooms are a good size but was very hot woth both radiators on full and took a couple of hours to cool down with the windows open. The bed could be bigger and is quite firm so not very comfortable unless you like that. The room was clean, plenty of towels and loo roll would definitely stay again

Well worth the stay

My stay was amazing, the staff were friendly and willing to help whenever asked. My daughter is in hospital in North Manchester General so i didnt actually spend much time at the hotel, however breakfast and evening meal consumed, the sea bass and king prawn linguine was amazing tho it did need seasoning, breakfast was ok, though i like my black pudding sliced thicker that way its crispy on the outside but still soft in the middle allowing you to actually taste it. Servers very friendly and polite and took comments back to the chef.
My daughter is up here for a while so will be a weekly 3 nightly stop for me

Very disappointing 3-day stay for a business trip. Experience is totally dependent on occupancy. The kitchen does not open if low occupancy, expect a basic, bland offering of soup and sandwiches. Limited menu other days (3 options). Maintenance don’t bother to respond to maintenance requests, so cold shower two days running. Room desk/dressing table far too high to be usable as a work desk. The executive room has a good standard of decor but the bathroom is tired and worn.

Great value for money hotel

Great hotel at a good price. The hotel has excellent amenities such as Spa, Gym, Restaurant etc which we used during our stay. The spa is a good size with a nice pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna which we enjoyed. We ate food in the restaurant and it was really nice. The bedrooms are a little dated and they did get abit hot during the night but we slept ok. Would definitely use this hotel again

Nice hotel with good facilities

Lovely hotel, rooms were comfortable and clean and the staff were polite and helpful the spa facilities were a great bonus and were easy to access, clean and well maintained. We ate in the bar and the food was good too. The only thing extra would have been a hairdryer in the room but its not an issue, would recommend and would stay again.

Clean basic but not my idea of a country hotel

Description is decidedly deceiving. Not my idea of a country park hotel! Decor basic and tired. Rooms were small, bathrooms basic and water not overly hot in shower, water stains on ceiling. Tv hung on wall had cables hanging down. The bar was awful sofas and chairs have seen better days and you were practically sitting on the floor. In dire need of refurbishment. Meals on Sunday stopped at 8 and we had been travelling for 4 hours menu choice limited to burger or wraps, etc. The room was clean just basic. Would be okay for a brief overnight stay but not my idea of a relaxing country break hotel.

The night staff when i checked in.was very nice and pleasant but the condition of the property itself is not the best room not cleaned thoroughly the condition around appears to be deteriorating and the pipes were making a lot.of noise in the bathroom freaking out our cats.

Excellent hotel. Dinner In The restaurant was outstanding and rather large portions. Good choice of items at breakfast. All staff friendly and attentiv. Bedroom and bathroom spacious very clean and comfortable. Free use of spa/leisure facilities. Hotel set in beautiful peaceful grounds.

Beautiful hotel

Everything was great, can’t fault the staff and the service, can’t fault the hotel as it’s beautiful, the only problem i had was i was staying in room 65 and the hallway door woke me up numerous times throughout my stay with people coming and going which made it difficult to sleep well. With this being said, i will definitely be returning on my next visit but hope i get a quieter room next time

Very good parking area. Receptionist at check in and check out were excellent and professional and friendly. Room was extremely small.
Beds were comfortable.
Bathroom would have been better with a shelf inside.
Disappointed at breakfast after having stayed previously which had been excellent. Bar prices seem to have doubled in 6 months

Really dissapointed with our stay. I know people say it’s only a bed for the night, u don’t spend much time in the room but we were really disappointed. We checked in early evening but was very slow check in barely any staff. Very dirty, very basic and dated and room wasn’t clean. Dirty floors, bins hadn’t been emptied, uncomfortable beds and cold damp room. Certainly wouldn’t recommend and wouldn’t stay again. Swimming pool was lovely, I can’t believe how the hotel can be so dated and dirty when the pool was totally different
