The photos shown in Expedia looked nothing like the room we actually stayed in.
There was also a hidden charge the hotel charged me and when I called to ask about it, they told me to contact Expedia and when I called Expedia, they told me to call the hotel.
A classic bait and switch deal.

Love the hotel however, our fireplace was not working properly. Had to call maintenance twice and once the maintenance guy turned on, pilot went out. Ambiance was gone just like that. 😌

Booked 2 rooms and requested adjoining rooms as we were 6 gals celebrating a 60th birthday…but could not be accommodated.
Given 2 rooms next to each other but 2nd room was a walk down the hallway. Asked in we could get 2 rooms opposite each other…again no luck.

I love this place ! We have been over a handful of times . We live close , but sometimes we want a change of venue . The rooms are clean and safe and the staff is stellar . It’s a big of a boutique hotel and it’s on the water but I really love this hotel . My hat is off to the staff ! They are superb!

Endless wait

I arrived to check-in approx 5pm after the stated 4pm check-in time. I was told that housekeeping was behind and the room wouldn't be ready for a couple of hours and the front desk suggested that I go out and have dinner. I came back at approc 7.30pm and was told the room wouldn't be ready until sometime after 10pm. I asked them for a more specific time and they didn't know and one staff said it might be closer to midnight and I could wait in the lobby area. They told me I could check into another hotel and they would walk me there. I said this wasn't acceptable. At approx 11.30pm a large group of airline staff checked in and were given rooms. I had to stand at the desk and until they finally found an available room. The room itself was a bit worn (carpet stains and scuffed walls). The location is good, but wouldn't recommend a stay there.

Place has potential, but ot sure I would recommend

Check in was awful! Arrived at 10 pm, and our room was not ready! We had to wait for a half hour for them to clean the room and then the front desk personnel made us feel like we were lucky because the maids put our room before a few others. What if we e had arrived for 4 pm check-in!!??

Other than that, it was a decent stay, and we were grateful for the short walking distance to the Oakland-Alameda-SF ferry.

I did like or realize until we were there was not self-parking, and hence you essentially had to pay for valet-parking.

Great location

Overall good experience. I was in town to watch the Mariners play their final series in Oakland.

The hotel was a great location. 10 minute drive from stadium, 15 minute drive to airport and the ferry into San Francisco was next door to the hotel.

Pros: location, pool was nice, several restaurants within walking distance, great views of the marina.

Cons: $40 a night for parking, no in room coffee and not a lot of options close by.

Overall it was great and would not hesitate to recommend to others.

The hotel is conveniently located surrounded with great restaurants, not much shops around though. Was warned how some Oakland areas would be dangerous, but the hotel's location made us feel safe. Walking distance from Amtrak station & we took it to get to Oakland Stadium to see our team play. Staff were mediocre but won't really complain about them. Overall we truly love the ambiance & location is fantastic!

Pleasantly Surprised

I was worried because I’ve heard how bad Oakland has gotten . We booked the room with balcony overlooking the marina and I would go many times over. There was easy access to restaurants, ice cream and a cool little place called the Fat Lady. My favorite part was sitting on the balcony. We walked to get ice cream after 10 pm and we felt safe in the area and staff were very nice . The hotel is dated but nice, and honestly , the view made you forget about it. I would 100% recommend!

The check in process was fraught with issues and multiple attempts to get my credit card in their system. The hotel advertises a coffee cafe, but it no longer exists. No notice, and it felt deceptive as it shows it is available on their website, internal literature and on the TV info. Pool condition is poor. Pool felt slimy. The valet service is poorly understaffed. I waited over a half and hour to repark my car after my first night. The hotel staff tried, but overall a very disappointing experience. I will not return to this hotel.

Overnight Getaway

The hotel was very clean. No vending machines so that was a bummer. I like to have bottle water close by. The hotel charges $4 for a 16oz that’s in your room but it’s not cold. It may be for the little sad coffee that is “complimentary” but not really if you are being charged for the water. The location is great! So many restaurants at the Jack London square and most importantly, a coffee shop that opens at 6am!

My favorite place to stay in the bay area

My favorite hotel to stay at when I’m in the bay area. Right by the water with beautiful views. Right across from Yoshis live music club. Parking is a bit expensive so cheaper to Uber. Front desk service is always friendly. Rooms are maintained well. Could use a bit of a remodel, but still very comfortable. I hope that the Jack London Square area rebounds after Covid really diminished the area.

The front desk and valet were constantly helpful: just extraordinary people.

The pool is perfect and uncrowded: super kid-friendly (we have two rambunctious and adept swimmers ages 6 & 8, and a newbie who at age 3 loved it too).

The location couldn’t be better: Jack London Square with great places to eat and explore, including inches from the ferry to SF.

Will return at a regular clip in the future!

Ok, so the Waterfront as a hotel was lovely.
The room was spacious, clean and very comfortable.
Jack London Square was safe and clearly an effort Is made for the area to be safe and secure.
I would absolutely recommend this hotel if you are looking to stay in Oakland. We were in town to watch the Jays play.
Be warned, you do have to drive through some “tent city” areas that are dirty, and if you’re small town, very intimidating.
But once in the JL square there were no issues and it was beautiful.

On the website it’s states complimentary breakfast which was not the case.

I paid 10 dollars at their cafe for an apple juice and pocky sticks. Thought that was a bit excessive also parking was included

We upgraded to a room with a water view and a large balcony. An added bonus is the hotel’s proximity to the neighboring ferry. Within 25 minutes we were in San Francisco.

Tired looking, but a great location

Have a discrepancy on my bill and cannot reach acctg. Mailbox is full, no way to contact. Room a little tired, but the location is what it is about. People generally nice. But I'd like to be able to talk to someone. Small $ amount but it's a discrepancy nevertheless. If they did that to all guests it would be huge. Probably never noticed but I'd like to point it out.

Very nice staff. The hotel was very dated and just old. The walls were cracking, the wallpaper was peeling and the bathroom had visible mold on the wall. Would not stay here again.

The front desk and valet were amazing and kind. The one restaurant is very limited on food and half closed. The bartender was beyond rude and disrespectful. I had brought a bottle of wine from a vineyard in Napa. Wouldn’t allow me to enjoy it with the VERY limited menu.. told me “i had to order my food to go and eat in my room” and said I had to go to BevMo to get an opener.
The restaurant is not waterfront as they have that portion closed down.
