The room was fine, but the first night we couldn’t sleep at all. The walls are insanely thin, and our neighbors were all noisy which made sleep hard. But other than that the location was great, very close to bus stops and within walking distance of campus, downtown, and Telegraph. Parking was also super easy.

The rooms were spacious and nice. The parking lot had limited capacity. I arrived around 9pm and there was only one space left. Cost of the room was under $150. Downtown Berkeley before you get to campus is underwhelming, with plenty of homeless folks seen on my morning run up to campus, but they didn't seem threatening. And you could probably pay a lot more for a hotel room in some parts of SF with the same experience.
Summarizing, if you want to economize, consider staying there. If the downsides are an issue, stay closer to campus but expect to pay $70-150 more.

Atrocious place. Waited at the door in the cold with heavy bags ringing bell until someone came and asked why I hadn't rung. Room was no more than a place to rest head during an extremely high pressure and stressful trip resolving personal business. Check out was aggressive and no accommodation was allowed nor offered (even for pay). The beds squeak and springy; bugs aroudn the open drains on first floow. Management staff act like deer in the headlights, totally unable to hear or understand whatever good/bad/urgent/funny thing is being said. I felt like an inconvenience the mgmt resented having there the whole time, in between reminders of how ripped off I was has just been suckered

The room was like a motel which I didn't realize, so you open the door and it leads to the parking lot. I was travelling alone so it felt unsafe. The neighbourhood is a bit rough with homeless people around. I didn't feel safe leaving at night. There was a small hole in the floor of the bathroom. One of the walls was very dusty and hadn't been cleaned in a long time. Breakfast was very small and in the tiny room that you check in at.

The property doesn't live up to the pictures, It is a much cheaper option that other downtown hotels and the free parking is a really nice perk. But it's a basic 2* motel with a light renovation. Bathroom was nicely redone with tile shower walls and tile floors. But there were a few hairs easily spotted on the toilet, 2 of 3 toiletries had fallen off the wall, a giant drywall problem on the ceiling, and both the hotel and street were very noisy. Breakfast was pretty modest and provided for takeout in the lobby which is a tiny area - only hot breakfast option was plain oatmeal packets - who provides plain? I guess that's all that was left at the bottom of the box. Cereals, 1 cup of yogurt, milk, pastry, and apples rounded out the small selection. Staff was helpful and friendly, and the bed was comfy with lots of nice pillows.

We stayed there three nights and they never permanently fixed it. We already reached out to Expedia but there was no response. Not good customer service by hotel or Expedia.

The Sather tries too hard to be cool. The bathroom has a barn door that isn't the right size, and offers no privacy. The floor boards were coming up in one spot, there was drywall damage that was poorly repaired, and paint was peeling in the bathroom. Then, the free WiFi keeps booting us out, and the TV loses signal every half hour or so. Not worth another stay.

Front desk staff were incredibly nice and helpful. Parking lot is small and they allowed us to use their staff spot instead of parking on the street. Rooms are a little dated but clean. Beds are too firm for my liking and the room ac’s cycle on and off all night, making it warm in the rooms when they aren’t running. Overall I felt like I got what we paid for

Filthy, stinky, disgusting room! I had room #207 upstairs and it was so bad -- the walls had holes in them that were patched and not painted. The floors visually had spills on them. The comforter had a disgusting yellow stain on it. The bathroom had no ventilation and the window needed to be opened to get out the moisture; however there was no screen on the window, letting in bugs. When I arrived there was a dirty rag on the floor. The hotel has a no smoking and no weed smoking policy but #207 reeked of ciggie smoke and it smelled like someone just lit a weed pipe. It was gross and my allergies started getting bad as soon as I went in and closed the door. This hotel is one of the worst that I've ever stayed in.

This is a very good location, and with parking! (near campus), the staff is nice and right there. It's a pretty good second rate motel. My main complaint is super strong smell of cleaners they use but I went over the floor with a towel and opened my window and it dissipated over time. Also, the AC/heat blows on your when you sleep.

I also witnesses someone driving a black Tesla back her vehicle into a customers vehicle and prepare to drive away until I spoke up to suggest leaving a note on the persons windshield. The guest near my room argued loudly. Daily. Communicating with staff was horribly, not willing to resolve guest issues. The rooms were smaller than advertised, continually I would bumb into room furnishings. No space to setup iron board safely. There was no hand soap in the bathrooms hand soap dispenser, I had to request from housekeeper. The bathroom window was left open by housekeeper after she stated that she cleaned the inside of my room. Mind you, I am on the first floor. (Second room) my first room; the bathroom window lock is broken. (Room 212) did not feel safe. On June 25, 2025 after returning to my first floor room I was unable to access entry to my room. I had to sleep inside of my daughters car parked on the motels parking lot. (Not a Hotel.) Although I received a telephone call regarding room change and key activation the guest clerk did not acti activate my card for usage unknown to me until returning to room after having had been off of property from Tuesday morning 06:30a.m. ; 6/24/25-06/25/25; Wednesday morning at 01:55. I made repeated calls as well as repeated visits to the motels office up until 06:15 a.m. at which time I was able to connect in person to a live person as he entered the office. (Can be viewed on the Motels ring camera) There seemed to be no care/concern that I was unable to access my room at such a late hour. Seeking reimbursement of Wednesday 06/25/2025 cost of stay which I reported to the Motels checkin clerk at 06:15 this morning.

The staff was friendly and accommodating. But i must say the hotel is in terrible condition. Bathroom was dirty, the floor was so slippery, there was water damage all over the door frames and the cabinet where the fridge was. The bed sheet was stained, which let me to believe they dont change the bed after each guest, luckily i caught the cleaning service before they left an did change it out for me so i appreciated that. All in all i wouldn't stay there again for the price that i payed.

Overall, it’s simply an ok place to stay nothing fancy. Hotel rooms were recently being renovated but in a budget. Good location in downtown and walking distance to shops and restaurants. I was woken up by a strange beeping noise coming from the attic at 2am. It kept beeping every 10 seconds and never stopped. Parking feels unsafe because it’s so close to the street and has no fence/wall. I didn’t have any expectation but hotel breakfast was a joke more like a snack protein bar.
