Loved the outside ambiance of Berkeley Marina and Caesar Chavez Park; as well as the inside ambiance of the hotel. Nice pool and hot tub and fire pits by restaurant. Would like fires in them to go past 10 pm. Nice spacious king room but pull out sofa bed was not at all comfortable. Restaurant food is wonderful but too expensive, as is food in the large 24 hr deli. Staff is very friendly and helpful!

Nice property for a few days near Oakland/ Berkeley. We enjoyed that we could open the balcony door for fresh air.

Tip: A bunch of people park across the street from the hotel to avoid the overnight parking fee. It's just a long strip of space that has a whole bunch of no parking signs, but it was absolutely filled with people who parked there. Park at your own risk!

Double Tree Hilton in Berkeley Marina was amazing and the total experience with all the perks and aminities you can ever need! I enjoyed the view from our balcony and also took advantage of strolling along the path along the marina. I was able to resume the routines away from home with the fitness center. I also enjoyed breakfast from the food mart by the lobby. Stayed warm and cozy by the fire pit. I will be coming back:)

Overcharging for everything. Parking cost not mentioned (or hidden) during booking, later got email that parking is 40+tax, but on property was charged 45+tax=52. One day later they charged another 3, even though we didn't use any of their bottled water or other things in the room. No complimentary b-fast. Elevator smelled terrible. Similar smell in some hallways.

The shower head pipe was coming out of the wall and looked like a run down flea bag cheap motel. Embarrased. Hilton can do better. Charging $45 to park car was ridiculous as was providing coffee and then expecting me to pay for the water. Have stayed all over the world and always receive complimentary water for coffee.

This hotel is located in a wonderful bay setting but the property is old and tired. Since it is secluded from the city the dining was quite limited and the prices were outrageous. I felt I was being held hostage for a $45 breakfast which consisted of two coffees, one English muffin and an order of sausage. We walked 15 minutes to Skates and we had a lovely lunch that was value for money. One of my San Francisco friends suggested that I should have carried my own coffee and ordered hot water but that defeats the concept of hospitality.

I was unfortunately in a room that shared a wall with the elevator. The machinery was not insulated so I heard it all night or whenever anyone would use to go up or down. I don't think the hotel was sold out so not sure why they placed me in this location. Room was just OK anyway, felt old and the floor was sloped pretty significantly. Loud elevator noise was a dealbreaker though.

The back yard area is beautiful with Marina. There is a beautiful Walking trail next to the hotel ifron where you can have view of the Golden Gate Bridge and sunset.

Your on the ground staff is excellent. Every interaction we had was kind and welcoming. However, your building and amenities are falling apart and the poor staff can’t seem to do much about it. It seems like things are in a shabbier condition than the price tier and advert claims for the kind of hotel you’re trying to be; which is sad and too bad.

I paid for a room with a balcony. The first room they gave me did not have one. I was assured that the new one would have a balcony. It had a small ledge that, I suppose, passed as a balcony. I was very disappointed with the outcome. The rest of the room was nice.

From the beginning, the staff could greet you with a smile. It's not just business. The room we stayed at looked worn out. It appeared to be clean but had a smell of a mental health hospital. The next morning, I saw a bed bug crawling on the pillow. I didn't call anyone because I would have been forced to move if my wife found out about it. It looks like this will be the last time I stay at this property.

The rooms are very confusing to find and the staff wasn’t very helpful. I ended up driving around the parking lot trying to find building 4, but only seeing buildings 2 & 5! It turns out, if you go through building 5, or 3, you get to 4! Why didn’t the front desk make that clear?

The bed and room were comfortable but there were only 2 bath towels which wasn’t enough for the 3 of us in the room.

The hotel itself seems a little older but it has updated their rooms. The bed was very comfortable. Nice strong shower. And everything was very clean. The main issue I had was the front desk. The line was a bit long, which I get, it was after 3 and check in time, I didn’t mind waiting. Maybe the front desk personal was just having a long day but she did not seem like she wanted to be there. Not saying she had to be overly friendly, but maybe something more than just a few words and going through the motions. Or smile would have been nice.

Hotel room was clean, quiet and very nice. However, we did smell marijuana in the hallway one evening. We checked in late around 10pm. At the front desk, I stood in front of two women clerks who were conversing with each other while looking at a computer screen. Rather than acknowledging a customer and attending to their needs right away, they continued conversing for some time before one of them checked us in. She was not very friendly or welcoming. We had breakfast at the hotel restaurant and both the service and food were excellent.

There was a kid birthday party happening so there were 20+ kids in the pool. Didn't use it. The property is dog friendly. I had to call the front desk to quiet the incessantly barking dog in the room next door.

The shower was clogged. Had breakfast the next morning in the restaurant, a waiter didn’t inform me of the kind of potatoes that came with my order. I asked about country style potatoes then he acted as if I couldn’t make a change. Wasn’t pleased with the service.

Evertime I come here the staff is exceptionally efficient and welcoming.
Since my daughter started going to UC Berkeley, we've stayed here five or six times. The more often we stay, the more it feels like home.

!!!Sometimes I expect a problem.
(that's becoming more normal these days as customer service diminishes before our eyes.)
Even at other Hilton locations!

I don't think the hotel knows how often I frequent their establishment, or who I am, other than a being Hilton honors member. They simply treat me with the same respect and service consistently.

The building is very old and so dark; the hallway smells. They need to change the carpet in the hallway and the room. Staff is not friendly at all they don't even say hello if you see them in a hallway, house keeper keep coming in to my room even I put up a sign.

Having stayed in other DoubleTree properties, I expected more. I first noticed a musty smell in the hallways, which I had to pull my suitcase through for a considerable distance as I wound my way through building after building.

I stayed in two different rooms on this stay. The first bed was great. The second bed sagged. The tub in the second room was chipped all over and was much past its expiration date. Not what I wanted to soak in after a tiring day.

This is an older property that has gone through partial upgrades, more are required.

I booked on Expedia and chose this hotel because breakfast was included. When I went to breakfast, it turned out I was not on the breakfast list. It is not clear how to confirm breakfast when booking on the site. I ended up paying full price, and there was nothing front desk could do.

When checking out, my room card stopped working and I was caught in a downpour between buildings.

As mentioned, you must wind your way through connecting buildings to get to and from your room and the lobby. If you are doing so on the ground floor, you must exit one building and connect to the next one outside.

I ended up hauling my luggage through the pouring rain as I circled the property to get to the lobby.

I will book more carefully next time to avoid the issues described.

Positive points: the staff were nice and the restaurant served good food.

I had a package delivered that they didn't find the time to look for the first time and had to return with the name of the person who received it before they made an effort. To be honest, the package should have just gone to my room as it was included in the address along with my name as a registered guest.
Breakfast (eggs Benedict) was a little under $50 dollars and they forgot to serve it with the bacon that it came with. It was also served with a barely cooked under-ripe tomato and the waiter tried to take my plate before I was done.
