This place looks great and good value! I personally never experienced that ! I was left outside in cold and rain unable to gain access as I should have been sent a code or instructions on how to enter. Dispute several calls a pacing around the property i had no response. I was left cold wet and stranded. Left no choice than to find another hotel as close as possible to get a room for the night which I did at twice the cost and another taxi to the new hotel! Further insult, after communicating to hotels.com for over 40mins to cancel this arrangement I received a call from someone at the property who offered no apology advice or support given the circumstances of my situation now being 21:30 in the cold wet night! Telling me I had the information from them to gain access! I told them I can assure you I would not of put myself through that situation if that’s was the case ! Insult to injury.. no needed at this point! I dare say this is a nice place to stay .. just make sure you have access before you arrive.

I arrived at Avidon at 1 pm which was early compared to the check-in time. I wanted to have a business meeting with 1 other person but most of the public space is unsuitable for that. The staff offered us to use the bar which was unoccupied. We took the large table on the raised area right of the bar. We plugged in over the bar and worked all day. Ordered the Thai curry bar food which is prepared in a microwave. It arrived piping hot on one side and frozen on the other. They reheated it for us and it was ok. We used the same space next day which was very convenient and presented the same lunch. Same problem again.

Good business stay.

Good stay. Very friendly service. Close to the airport. Breakfast was a little expensive at 18 Euros, but it was also delicious.

The only small downside was the shower was a little cramped for a large American. :-) Would recommend.

This is a fantastic Hotel, Small Quiet and very much a Boutique style property. the Staff are great the size of the bedroom was amazing. the General outside appearance doesn't do the Interior justice, DONT BE PUT OFF. I cant say anything bad about it, and to boot the best Whiskey Bar for a hotel.

Room took time to warm up and never really got comfortable.. couple that with kiddies style duvets & a tram that runs right outside and you’ll understand my frustration....

Ok for airport if only 2 Adults

Return stay was slightly better than on outward journey. Pull out bed for 3rd person was made up (hadn't been on outward). However it was very hard and my daughter couldn't sleep on it, so once again she had to sleep in the same bed as her parents. Room was large and clean. Backed onto tram area so a little noise but not too much. Reception staff were friendly and advised on best route onto centre. I would stay here again if needed if there was only 2 adults but would opt for somewhere else if there are 3 Adults.

Might be okay for 2 people.

Booked for 3 Adults but when we arrived very late at night reception were expecting 3 Adults. He added our room for one with a chair that turned into a bed that would just need pulling out. On arrival on room we turned the chair into a bed but there wasn't any legs to hold up bottom. There wasn't any bedding for it either. As it was now past midnight and we had an early flight get morning we all just slept in the one bed. Luckily it was big enough but I don't think my 22 year old daughter expected to start her holiday by sharing a bed with her parents. On visiting the toilet we realised there was no toilet paper. We did have a few tissues so managed. As we had booked to stay on our return flight I mentioned the bed situation to reception who assured me they would be prepared for 3 of us.On the plus side it's not far from the airport 1 stop and a short walk on train or taxi for around €10

Dirty and dated room to top off a miserable night

I stayed at this hotel for one night due to a cancelled flight. When I arrived in my room the temperature was extremely hot - it was far from comfortable. Upon turning on the air conditioning unit I discovered that it sounded like a jet plane taking off and therefore would get no sleep if I left it on - therefore being left with a choice between stifling heat or ridiculous noise levels through the night. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, and the bedding looked unclean. The general condition of the room was poor and looked dated and worn out. The bathroom was the one saving grace as it was relatively clean, though after seeing the state of the bedding I was cautious of the towels.

Overall it made a very dissapointing night due to the cancellation even worse, and I would not stay here ever again unless I was in a similar pinch and it was the only remaining hotel. Had the airport remained open overnight I would’ve rather slept there.

We only stayed one night but the hotel was very comfortable and clean, the staff were welcoming and friendly. The breakfast was really good with a great selection on offer and freshly cooked eggs to order. Not far from the airport. We would use this hotel again.

It is a great hotel for a layover in Düsseldorf. Very clean and well maintained property and administration. Staff is very nice / friendly and helpful. Hotel room has all what you need for a layover , complementary bottle of sparkling water was great. Very easy to access city Centre with the S Bahn (1 or 11) and U 78/79.

This hotel was awesome. The room was clean, and you can tell that the furnishings and amenities were thoughtfully chosen. There were a lot of nice upgrades, like a radio, nice cold minifridge, heated towel bar, and really pleasant smelling toiletries. They also offered free wifi and a free bottle of water...basically everything I need! :)

I was given a room with an awesome outdoor balcony--it was huge--and it had a view of the street and a little bit of the airport tower (a bonus for me!). The street noise/airport noise wasn't an issue and I didn't hear any other guests while I was there either.

Needed a place near the Dusseldorf Airport for a long lay-over. This place had the best ratings and was reasonably priced. Did not disappoint! Wonderful check-in experience considering my overnight flight and the time when I booked. Am grateful to the hotel for that. Very clean room in great condition. Recommended.

Great place to stay near airport

This hotel was right next to the S bahn so it was easy to get to the airport. (1 stop) That said, the windows in our room were really good so we could barely hear any street or train noise. Very clean and modern room, the beds felt fresh and were comfortable, I liked the towels in the bathroom. The young woman at Check in was very helpful, made sure we were comfortable and provided information on the transit. She also ran the small bar in the lobby. We did not eat breakfast here so cannot comment on the food.

The outside of this hotel and the neighborhood is not very aesthetically appealing . . . but the hotel interior, from the lobby (although small) to the halls, elevator (small), etc. . . were very nice.

The room though, was the real stand out and much better than I expected. It was quite large, had a nice seating area, a valet for your clothes, lots of closet space, a nice working desk, wired and wifi service (free), and the room even had it's own balcony, which they all appear to have. The bed was large - queen or king?

The staff was great, spoke enough english for it to not be an issue (for us single language speaking Americans!), and were very courteous.

Ten minute taxi ride to the airport (at 8 am).

Nice hotel for business

My room was nice and apacious, bedding was very nice but the beds were waaaaay too firm. My room on the second floor was in front of the tracks which made for a loud noise everytime a train went by. Also, the hearing system wasn't working so my room stayed cold throughout the night. The taxi from DUS to the hotel was 11 euro for a 5-minute ride, while the taxi ride back to DUS was 10.50 euro. There is a nice bar inside the hotel with several brands of whiskey, scotch, brandy, and the like. Also, a full breakfast available for an additional cost. All in all, a good hotel since its nearby to the exhibition center and easy access to the airport. Hope this helps.

Great sleep over spot for an early flight

The train station is a quick walk and the Italian Restuarant above the station is the best meal Restaurant meal I've had in a couple of months. The pillows in the room are feather so if you have allergies you might need to request hyper allergic. The restaurant is the green cat or Verde Chat...or something like that.

Great boutique hotel close to Düsseldorf Airport

I booked 5 rooms for me and my colleagues who were flying out of Düsseldorf Airport next morning. This is a great little boutique hotel which offers an enjoyable stay to travelers. My room was spacious, well furnished and clean; bed was cosy for a good night's sleep. The large window offered a view of the tram station next to the hotel.

The lady at the front desk was very friendly and provided valuable guidance on how to spend the evening in the city. They arranged for a cab to the airport next morning.

Breakfast was pricey (18 Euros per person) so we did not opt for it.

This hotel was a pleasant surprise. It was reasonably priced, and turned out to be an excellent choice for my overnight stay prior to a long-distance flight from the Duesseldorf airport. The facilities are excellent, and the hotel is modern/recently renovated. The only downside compared to other hotels is that there is no shuttle to the airport, but the airport is actually within 15-20 minute walking distance from the airport.

Great little hotel not far from the airport. The outside is deceiving in that it isn't much to look at, but the room was spacious and very comfortable. It is about 7 minutes from the airport and has onsite parking -- two big advantages from our point of view.

Very cool hotel in a nice outlying \"village\" of Dusseldorf very near to the airport, but with all of the feel of a small village (e.g., local restaurants, parks, etc.) and public transport to Dusseldorf. Excellent base for exploring Dusseldorf or the airport. Also, yes, the hotel is like an art gallery!

The hotel is located next to the tram stop which is very convenient. No coffee maker or hot water available during the day unless you pay, TV channels very limited without movies option. Hotel is very clean and quiet. Beds are made \"German way\" fitted sheet and two separate comforters for a queen size bed no top sheet. Very convenient is the safe in the room.

The room was quiet and confortable, the staff were extremely helpful helping us with local transport into the city and tothe airport the next day. Highly recommended based on service alone.

A Great Choice Near The Airport

Hotel staff was accomodating and friendly. The night clerk went our of his way to make us feel welcome, and was attentive to all of our needs. He was very knowlegable about the city attractions, restaurants and transportation. Addressed all of our needs and concerns. The room was well decorated, elegant modern and spacious. Beds, were hard, and pillows were extreamly soft. Prepare to pay additional charge for extra pillows.

Stayed for 2 nights on business found the hotel location convenient only an €8 from the airport and has a mainline station 5 mins walk. The staff were very attentive and the breakfast I found to be very good, nice mix of choices.

The only negative comments are that the hotel is next to a tram terminus which is active between 5am and midnight. Fine if you have to be up early for a flight, but disturbing otherwise. The other minor point is that there is no restaurant at the hotel. Some of the local eating spots are not open on Monday, meaning that a hot bar snack is all that is on offer.

Our second visit...we'll be back!

This is the second time we chose to stay at the Avidon because our first stay was so pleasant. The atmosphere is wonderful, modern and artsy and the rooms have every convenience and comfort...I LOVE the beds and bedding especially! We were on a layover for only 1 night so we didn't do much sightseeing, but it is 5 minutes from the airport and there is a nice little Italian restaurant within walking distance. Receptionists are lovely and the bar is full of a variety of whiskies from all over the world.

Biggest rooms I've seen in European hotels. Checkin was easy. Neighborhood pub next door with local flavor. Didn't try the breakfast for 18 Euro, since it seemed expensive to me, but I didn't see it either, maybe it was awesome.

The Avidon Art & Design Hotel lived up to the good reviews. Helpful staff, large comfortable room, bounteous breakfast, and--as I'd hoped--art & design in every detail! Our room was next to the tracks but the noise was not an issue. The location might not be exactly hoppin', but it's not a bad neighborhood, either, and it's convenient to the airport.

Situated in adjacent town, too far to walk, but short taxi, street car or bus ride. Be sure to get clear instructions if you take bus to avoid going the wrong way (which I did). Gorgeous art work on first floor. Extremely spacious room with window that opens.

So great and easy to get to from the airport

It was very inexpensive to get to the hotel from the airport (low enough that the taxi drivers didn't want to accept a credit card for payment!). The room was phenomenal, and there is complimentary sparkling water in the room when you check in. The front desk arranged our taxi back to the airport, which was also helpful. The bed was wonderful.

We had a great staying in this hotel, close to Dusseldorf airport when returning to Miami from Hamburg; easily accessible from airport via taxi (only 8 euros in 5 minutes drive) or taking bus #179 (8 stops in 15 minutes) ...modern small hotel in a quiet area...I will recommend it!

An Absolute Gem!

What a great hotel! A very short cab ride from Dusseldorf Airport (around €10) it would be easy to drive past this hotel without knowing it was there but I urge you to search it out! It's not soul-less like the airport hotels, inside it is modern, elegant and the service is fantastic, caring and thorough. There are nice touches too...like a fruit bowl in the room and bottles of mineral water. Thoroughly recommended!

Great Rooms and convenient to Airport

We stayed only one night but room was great. Very roomy and clean. Bed was very comfortable. Would highly recommend if you need to be close to airport. The tram /train stops here as first stop from airport and takes only 3 -4 minutes.

Gem near airport with huge whisky bar

Lovers of single malts will be in their element. Huge choice, and great bar area to sit. Nicely done out hotel generally. Not too much around to walk to (couple of bars and restaurants) but then again it's right near the airport.

Perfect hotel to recover from a long transatlantic flight as the bed was comfortable, room was quiet and hot shower was great. Very nice breakfast too.

good location for airport

Plus points - Hotel is clean, rooms above average size (only small shower in mine though, no bath), staff were excellent. Location is great for airport (5 mins in taxi or 3 mins on S-Bahn from station around the corner direct to Terminal).
Minus points - hotel bar only does snacks so you need to venture out for food. Tram line loops around front and rear of building so no escape from tram noise. Only 1 english speaking channel on TV.
