If one is looking for a healthy continental breakfast such as is now found in many hotels in Italy, this breakfast is probably not for you. It was strong on chocolate and sweet cakes but short on fresh salads.
The hotel location is very good, on a bus route from the station. Hotel staff were excellent with advice on how to reach the old city and they sell the bus tickets.

Breakfast was interesting but not healthy. Parking was great. Bus service was right outside the door connecting to escalator in the old town. Bed was very hard and pillows were flat terrible sleep. Room was quiet.

We were excited for the theme of the hotel, and the breakfast in the mornings were incredible! Massive buffet with huge assortment of foods, many chocolate themed. Also lots of space for everyone to sit, not cramped at all.

The decor in the rooms was fine, but a bit dated.

We ate at the restaurant for supper on the first night (we were there two nights), and while the food was excellent, the service was a disaster!

The dining room was only open from 7:30pm-9:30pm so it was a flurry of guests to be seated and served all in that time and only two servers were working. I have to assume that they were short-staffed due to illness or someone not showing because there was no way this was enough staff for the number of people. I applaud the efforts of the staff for trying hard but it was pure chaos.

We found the front desk staff to be okay, but the few times we approached them (asking for information etc) we felt we were inconveniencing them. They were polite thought.

My kids enjoyed the “choco” experience!

The place was a bit run down, but I thought my kids would enjoy the “chocolate” experience - and they did! It would have been nice for the pool to be open longer hours and the upper deck was a bit dirty (it was the only place I could practice yoga). Seemed like a lot of good waste, too. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

AMAZING breakfast buffet and great service

less than a kilometer from the train station and flixbus station (up the hill!). Room wsa very comfortable and actually pretty nice with the chocolate theme light fixtures and bedding. Our checkin agent Anil was a wealth of information and found us a room a bit earlier than normal checkin after our long train/bus trip in the morning.

The theme of Chocohotel continues throughout - rooms have lights with shades that look like chocolate squares, as does the headboard. The bedspread repeats the word chocolate in multiple languages. The best - the breakfast buffet is a phenomenal array of chocolate in many forms of desserts like croissants, cakes, cannolo, etc. You will not believe your eyes ! Other items like juices and yogurts and fruits are top notch. It is an amazing array !

It’s called the Chocohotel for a reason. Don’t worry about the rooms because it’s all about the chocolate theme and the breakfast buffet is unlike anything I’ve ever seen or eaten for breakfast, maybe 30 different chocolate tarts, cakes, croissants, biscuits, fondue, drinks it just goes on. They also have a very good restaurant for dinner as well.

Nice small rooftop swimming pool although other amenities are fairly basic. Courteous staff. The hotel is not strictly in the city centre although it is only a 15 minute uphill walk to arrive at the main strip. Ample parking if you are driving. Clean and tidy rooms.

Good hotel on the perimeter of Perugia, perfect for those who have a car but not if you are making use of public transport. Perugia as a whole can be explored in 48hrs. Assisi is a short train distance and then up by bus. Firenze is a 2hr train journey bur worth a visit.

I booked this place because I thought my son would like it but I ended up enjoying it too. The property itself is a basic three star older hotel. Rooms are small and simple and beds are not very comfortable especially if you don't like firm beds. But it was very clean and I actually like having a bathtub. But obviously nobody stays here for the room. The chocolate design touches were cute and fun. But the biggest surprise was the breakfast. I expected it to be full of cheap products and more about quantity than quality but it was much better than I expected. The chocolate items were exactly like the pictures, a really impressive array. And the quality was quite good, bettee than the four star hotels we stayed at in our week in Umbria. I had a very good chocolate covered canollo, sone fudge pie, some little treats and the dark chocolate sauce. What was nice was that they also had a good selection of savory items. The fresh focaccia, ricotta and tomatoes as well as fruit and yogurt and the usual croissants and baked items. I only ate a tiny fraction of what was on offer but I give the breakfast five stars for both quality and selection. Parking was tight but manageable and location was not charming but convenient to drive up to the old city. Their shop has lots of interesting and reasonably priced itens. Overall I wouldn't want to stay here long term but for a night or two it's a unique and enjoyable place that really lives up to its theme

Top the courtesy and the style, looks very great.

A bit of negligence in the maintainence in the bathroom: the hand shower was unstable (very bad for such a hotel...) and the wc flush had a little leak.

The hotel is along a very crowded road and the rooms on the front side suffer a bit of the car traffic noise.

The breakfast was very good and parking was also very good. The staff was courteous, helpful, efficient and friendly. Unfortunately, the rooms are lacking. I felt like I walked into 1985 and perhaps the mattress are from that era, too. Not a place for a comfortable, restful sleep. The carpets in the hallways are stained and discoloured, so are their decorations. There are no extras in the room like an espresso machine, ice bucket, and certainly no computer jacks for charging electronics. Time for an overhaul of every room.

The chocolate theme is great from room decor to the breakfast buffet to the dozens of different trumped of chocolate for sale in the lobby. A bus stop is across the street which goes up to Perugia’s old hilltop town. Train station is 5 minutes by taxi.

I loved the “Chocolate theme”!
The whole hotel is inspired by it and it is amusing to enter the main hall finding there a bathtub full of big chunks of chocolate and then discovering that the “chocoreception” has assigned to you a room at the “bitter chocolate floor”...
Great buffet breakfast with lot of chocolate of course!
The only flaw was the hard mattress.

Perugia's Unique Etruscan Chocohotel

Etruscan Chocohotel is unique with a chocolate theme and incidentally I am a chocoholic. Next to its lobby, guests can purchase locally manufactured chocolates with 10% discount. In the coffee shop, there is table laden with chocolate bread spread, bits and pieces of chocolate even white chocolates by Perugina and Nutella with its hazelnut spread, as well. Croissants and breakfast pastries have chocolate fillings, too. My room is clean and spacious with a nice view of an Umbrian landscape at the distant. From the hotel, the Stazione Perugia and main bus station are a 10-minute leisure walk.

OK for the price

The breakfast buffet is wonderful but the restaurant food was average at best.( and expensive) The people we interacted with were very courteous, especially the breakfast servers. It was nice to have easily accessible parking But this hotel needs an update. While the rooms and public areas were clean, they had a worn look to them. Especially the bathrooms. The bed was very hard and the air conditioning struggled to keep up. Also it was completely turned off during the day so by the time we got back after a long, hot day it was like a sauna and our room never could quite cool down.

I got there late and the staff, were friendly and helpful. It was a real chocolate lover's dream. Got free chocolate when I got there. Food was wonderful and had a lot of variety. Ideal setting,great views,very spacious, clean and comfortable. The only shame, was, I could not stay longer. Would go again

Location isn't that accessible but we knew that, but maybe not quite how far from town it was. Room was adequate, but air-con was very noisy and hardly adjustable, more or less just on or off. Desk staff weren't especially welcoming and I swear one almost sighed when I asked if they could call a taxi for us! The chocolate thing is just a gimmick and perhaps hides a less than great hotel behind it.

Hotel theme, lobby, and check in/out process were great. Amazing chocolate breakfast buffet! The room was comfortable and had everything we needed, but walls were very thin. We heard the family next door throughout the night with a screaming baby. Also, it's a little out of the way from the main city center, so I'd recommend taking a cab rather than walking or bus if you can. I'd stay here again.

Swimming pool closed. It would of been nicdvto know this because I would of taken another hotel in the centre. The double bed was in fact two singles pushed together. The mattress was rock hard and I couldn't sleep. I left with a bad back

Etruscan Chochotel is our place to stay in Perguia

We always stay here when we are in Perugia. There is parking for the car, and the bus stop is across the street. Staff is always helpful in both English and Italian. The value is terrific.

The hotel is very accessible from the main roads and is not far from the center of Perugia. Staff is all friendly and helpful and the chocolate theme is fun for the whole family. The decor is perfectly fine and the rooms are comfortable, but the hotel is a bit worn. For the price, however, it is definitely a good value.

The hotel was very nice and clean. Staff members were very approachable and had no problems at all staying at the hotel. The hotel is not too far from the city center, however, if you have a car it might be easier to get to it. The hotel had plenty of car park spaces. Breakfast was very good, normal breakfast food and also some more chocolatey pleasures. We have also received a free bar of chocolate while checking in which we thought was a great add value to the check in process. We would highly recommend the hotel to stay in Perugia.

This hotel has chocolate as a theme for all its decoration - the owner organizes a yearly chocolate festival in Perugia. Dark brown is the dominant color, lamps look like chocolate containers out of which the brown liquid pours. It is really surprising to see the many ways this theme is used. If chocolate is your thing this is the hotel for you!
The rooms seem a little run down and the hotel is due for a mayor renovation. To visit the city centre is a brisk 20 minute walk uphill. We expected more from this hotel.

This is such a cute hotel! The chocolate theme is so fun and makes the stay so enjoyable. The breakfast every morning was incredible. Excellent choices of sweet and savory foods and plenty of choices for vegetarians. This hotel is a short drive from the Perugia airport and very close to the city center. We had a rental car and drove up to the city in about 8 minutes. The hotel is also close to Asissi for a quick day trip and then Perugina chocolate factory! I would totally come back here!

Yes, it really is a chocolate-themed hotel! The theme is carried throughout, from the chocolate-bar door jams and headboards to the lamps that look like chocolate being poured from a glass. One even received a bag of foil-covered chocolate coins on arrival. Staff are friendly, and hotel amenities are good. Room was comfortable and spacious, though the bed mattress wasn't the most comfortable. Breakfast is good, as is the hotel restaurant. The area around the hotel is pretty ordinary; there are a few shops/supermarkets close by, but walking anywhere is difficult as footpaths are haphazard or non-existent. On the other hard the hotel is on a main road next to a petrol station which I imagine would be convenient if you're by car. Easiest way to get to \"centro storico\" Perugia is to get a bus (which stops outside the hotel) to the main train station, then hop on the Minimetro.

One night stay by a solo traveller

Overnight stop in Perugia on my way from the Amalfi Coast to Munich, Germany. The hotel looks very unassuming on the outside but it's perfectly fine inside. My room was cool and comfortable which was a huge relief from the Italian summer heat. Bonus points to the hotel for the rooftop garden and pool. It's situated in a rather quiet part of town but not really an issue for me.

Hotel is super far away from the center but has buses that run (A & G) and stop outside but you don't really figure that out until youve walked forever trying to find it. Staff weren't particularly helpful with giving directions or in general and the TV only had a few English channels. The room was clean and the beds were fine but I wouldn't stay here again just bc it is so far removed from the city center. There's nothing around it. We didn't eat breakfast or try the restaurant. The chocolate theme was cute and we were given chocolate coins on arrival. The exterior isn't very attractive but the interior carries the chocolate theme throughout.

If you're a chocolate lover who doesn't mind being a bit far off the town centre, this is the ideal place for you. There's chocolate literally around every corner - and it is so delicious! Staff are pleasant and professional; the rooms are clean and quiet - everything is absolutely spot on! The only disadvantage is the hotel's location - as someone who hadn't been in Perugia before, I found it very difficult to get to the city centre in time for important events, and I found the taxis to and from the hotel quite expensive. But if you're planning to be there as a tourist and don't mind getting lost among the beautiful historic buildings and scenic steep hills of Perugia, then I'd highly recommend staying at the Etruscan.

Nice hotel, location questionable

This is a good cheap hotel with plenty of free parking. But you would only stay here for an overnight stop with easy access to the superstrada and Perugina / Baci chocolate factory. For any stays in Perugia longer than one night I would recommend paying a bit more and staying up in the historical centre of Perugia which is such a lovely city with beautiful open air dining in the main piazza. This hotel is located at the bottom of the hill as a quick stop off the highway with nothing to offer in the surrounding area. Nevertheless we had a good night's sleep and the wifi works well downstairs, it's a bit hit and miss in your room. If going into the old town (and you should), I would recommend getting the hotel to arrange a taxi as it's cheap and there is virtually nowhere to park in the centro storico.

the location is awful. it's in no-where land - a 20 minute walk from the Perugia train station, past a series of sketchy stores and pitch darkness after sunset.the train station has lots of people panhandling for money, and it gets scary after dark, and i was with my wife. the hotel rooms were alright, if not on the bare side - but only because we landed on a view towards the hills and not the condominium behind the hotel. places to eat are nowhere to be found, except the lobby - which is very expensive (15 euros for a dish of simple pasta??). there is a great chinese restuarant right behind the hotel, which we found on our own. the staff speaks very limited English. and no chocolate welcome tray, unlike the picture - just one bar of chocolate. there's a bus - the A bus - that stops right in front of the hotel, but don't count on it - one bus every half hour. and the reception desk doesn't even have the bus schedule. they just told us to go outside and look for the schedule on the bus stop.

We booked this hotel because my wife is a chocoholic and we thought it would be fun to experience this chocolate themed hotel. The location is right off the main street so it was easy to find and had free parking. The room was large, the hotel on the rooftop was great and the breakfast was substantial. It is a good half hour walk uphill to the center of the town, so we would have liked to have been closer. Overall, we would recommend this hotel.

Good value for money, though a bit far from railway station

I stayed in this hotel with my wife. The hotel is ca. 20 min to walk uphill from the central rayway station (taxi is about 8 EUR).
The rooms are clean and \"no frills\" style, TV is small. Breakfast is good for a 3-star hotel, there is also a small swimming pool on the room. Every guest gets a very tasty local chocolate bar, lots of chocolate available for breakfast.
All-in-all, very good hotel for travelers who spend the whole day outside and need a hotel for a good sleep.
Also: free 24h wi-fi internet

The hotel is very unique and the all-chocolate presentation one of a kind. We were overall very satisfied with our room and the meals (variety of breakfast choices at the buffet, typical menu for dinner). It felt safe and clean throughout. The free wifi was definitely a plus. A bit noisy outside - our room was on the main road - but overall recommended.

La colazione da favola merita il soggiorno in questo hotel. Gli ambienti sono puliti; la camera standard è sobria ed essenziale; gli arredi un po' retrò ma in buono stato. Unica pecca: ci è stata assegnata una camera al secondo piano, lato strada: i rumori del traffico si sentivano in maniera distinta, anche a tarda notte. Il parcheggio è gratuito, non è custodito e mi è sembrato facilmente accessibile anche da persone estranee; in ogni caso, la nostra esperienza è stata positiva.
Non escludo in futuro di rialloggiarci, ma chiederò in maniera esplicita una camera non posizionata lato strada.

Escolhi o ChocoHotel porque queria conhecer o café da manhã chamado \"Isola dei Golosi\". Foi além das minhas expectativas, eram tantas as opções maravilhosas que foi difícil decidir quais experimentar! A equipe muito gentil e atenciosa, inclusive me ajudaram a tirar várias fotos. E a cereja do bolo foi ter ganhado um \"Attestato di Golosità\", junto com um sacchetto de guloseimas.
Com certeza, voltaria a me hospedar no hotel.

Molto veloce il check in tramite un link inviato qualche giorno prima per registrare i componenti della nostra famiglia. Ben accettato il cane pagando il supplemento. Camera pulita, curata nei particolari a tema, bagno un pò datato con vasca non accessibile a un disabile. Il materasso per noi è ststo un pò scomodo. Colazione super variegata, ottima qualità sia per il dolce che per il salato. Comoda la posizione vicino al centro e la piscina al quinto piano per una pausa relax. Non usufruito del ristorante e del servizio massaggi. Esperienza positiva, da ripetere.

Leuk hotel om er 1 nacht te verblijven vanwege het ontbijt , dat is wel echt iets leuks om mee te maken. Kamer was schoon en netjes, personeel is aardig. Ligging is alleen niet zo handig voor als je het centrum in wilt. Er is een zwembad op het dak en er liggen ook bedjes om te zonnen alleen geen schaduw en er is geen bar om iets te kunnen drinken of eten.

Quando veniamo a Perugia per Umbria Jazz, è d'obbligo soggiornare al Chocolat per via della navetta gratuita in città alta, della fantastica colazione (in Italia per me la migliore) e dell'ottimo rapporto qualità/prezzo

L'albergo è a tema cioccolato ed è molto particolare. Il personale alla reception è gentile e ti da tutte le indicazioni. Ci sono molti posti auto ma non sono prenotabili quindi si parcheggia dove si trova posto. Ad ogni modo il centro è raggiungibile comodamente con l'autobus. La fermata è di fronte all'hotel e i biglietti si possono comprare alla reception. La colazione è spettacolare! Non si può chiedere di meglio... Forse potrebbero mettere un dispenser di amuchina all'ingresso... il posto è frequentato anche da chi non alloggia in hotel e dubito si lavino le mani prima di entrare... ( le pinze per prendere i cornetti crostate ecc vengono toccate da tutti.. e anche i pulsanti delle varie macchinette) In sala le ragazze sono gentilissime e preparano waffle al momento su richiesta... La camera è molto bella. Sempre a tema cioccolato. C'è anche la macchinetta del caffè e il frigobar. Il materasso però non è matrimoniale... (sono due singoli attaccati) questo potrebbe essere scomodo per le coppie... la pulizia non è proprio top.. ho trovato qualche peletto in bagno e purtroppo non c'è insonorizzazione... Si sente tutto come se avessi gente in camera...Diciamo che non ho dormito benissimo.... mia figlia però ci vuole tornare per l'eurochocccolate😅... vediamo.... comunque una colazione così non la si trova in nessun albergo... quindi la tentazione c'è 😁😁😅😅

Ho scelto questo hotel sicuramente per il servizio navetta gratuita che mettevano a disposizione per il concerto di Lionel Richie rimanendo molto soddisfatta inoltre per provare la loro colazione all'isola dei golosi....non posso dare che un 10 con lode.
La struttura carina e pulita ma in un contesto che non mi è piaciuto.

Lo si sceglie per la colazione ed effettivamente non credo esista una colazione migliore in nessun altro hotel; una sola parola: stratosferica!!!
Pulizia ottima, camere un po' datate ma carine vista la tematizzazione, reception attenta e cortese. Un po' distante dal centro (circa 20 minuti a piedi in salita) ma per smaltire una colazione del genere sono più che giustificato!
Tornerò? Sicuramente

Il soggiorno è stato molto proficuo e bello_; iniziando la mattina con la colazione mai vista prima per abbondanza, molteplicità e varietà di dolci e salumi. Tutto molto buono e fresco. L'efficienza del personale addetto è stata, come sempre, esemplare ed efficace.
