Not only is the General Gordon in a super convenient and quit location, the pub and beer garden below go off. Aside from the location and vibes, the rooms are spacious, quaintly styled, and the bathrooms are stunning with a fresh renovation. On-top of it all the beds are consistently comfy and the process for checking in and out couldnt be easier. Will definitely be staying again.

This property was very clean. Location was very close to the train station and international airport terminal. Guest should know that there is no one on duty before 10am. We needed to call a taxi and no one to help as we were from the states and did not have service. This was the only down fall but overall it was excellent

While this is outside of their control, they are directly under the flight path to Sydney airports major runway. There is a curfew in place from 11 pm to 6 am but at 6:01 you will hear planes landing, being so close to the runway, and they will wake you up. Ended up buying ear plugs to sleep past 6am.

There is no one at check-in counter, no bell or no phone to catch the staff. We just needed to wait until someone notice.

It was in a perfect location for us to fly in from country NSW, $30 cab fare between airport & motel, walk to and from a concert at the Factory Theatre, then fly home in the morning. A quick trip but everything was well up to standard and we'll definitely stay again.

Staff were helpful, and there is a restaurant on site. Parking is limited, but there are options available that don't mean moving your car too often. Booked because I wanted a non-chain hotel. The General Gordon packs a lot of charm and service into its walls. Sydenham train station is directly across the street, and it was a direct line to Circular Quay - just a great location. Quiet residential street otherwise. I would stay again and again if ever back in Sydney.

The room was not the layout of what I had booked. Felt like a run of house small economy room rather than a deluxe queen, noting the bathroom was tiny obscure shaped wedged into the corner, and no shower door meant water was sprayed onto the toilet. Really disappointed noting there are no pictures of this room configuration, so it was not expected. The other reviews were deceiving, I won't stay here again.
