Convenient location south of the city with regular busses to railway station and city centre.
Walking distance from Addenbrooks Hospital.
Free parking at the Lodge, spacious room with private facilities. Use of Dining room with fridge, microwave and crockery. Friendly staff who are happy to assist with any queries.

ThiS is a superb lodge. 20 minutes walk from Addenbrooks. The décor is fresh and Impressive. The room had a high standard ensuite. Anna the proprietor was friendly and inviting, giving us details of the nearest fish shop, breakfast cafe, shop and pub. As I was booked in to Addenbrooks at 7am in the morning we were given a key for the room and ppne for the front door so we were able to come and go freely. We will use the lodige whren I visit Addenbrooks

We spent one night in the Aylesbray Lodge GH while visiting our grandson en route to a Portsmouth Ferry. Our hostess Anna contacted us while we battled through the Bank Holiday weekend traffic on the A1 to check our progress. Her welcome was warm, health security measures were excellent, the en suite twin room was comfortable and very clean and the location ideal for access to relatively nearby Co-Op supermarket. We had an excellent breakfast at The Robin Hood Pub which was a short drive away. Only small issue was the awkwardness of the parking on the premises but that seems to be a feature of Cambridge itself. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Aylesbray Lodge, would have no hesitation in returning and can recommend it to fellow travellers.

Amazing, warm and welcoming staff. Truly lovely. A tiny distance from Addenbrooke’s even on high heels. Quiet rooms. Easy check in, super easy check out. Lots of towels and pillows. Will go again next time I’m there for work.

The host was extremely helpful and approachable. The room was perfectly adequate for our needs and clean and tidy with plenty of storage space. Tea and coffee making facilities good. Hot water every day for a lovely shower. You can come and go as you please too which is always a bonus.
We would stay here again.

Comfy bed and quiet, close to the hospital I was visiting, bad points was the ensuite was like a broom cupboard, tight squeeze to get in shower as sink in way plus no hot water and tight squeeze to sit on loo as sink virtually on your lap.

Room 6 is a small fusty front room too noisy to open a window. Getting onto the loo with a loose seat needed some contortion, basin taps had long lost their plating . Furniture worn and chipped. Mattress pretty basic. Reminiscent of my first digs 60 years ago. Not recommended

Holiday makers beware

In my opinion this place is not suitable for a family on holiday, it might suit a tradesman. It is too far from the city center, does not provide breakfast, which is OK, but no restaurant close by just a Pub with so-so menu. We found the room dreary and depressing. Bathroom toilet seat very mobile, toiletries just very old and sticky bottles. The bathroom window is only lightly frosted so at night when light on you give a show to the neighbors so make sure you shower in the dark. Bed full of hard coils and at night there is a chorus of snoring from the walls. The kettle doesn't work so no tea possible. There is no refund with this place so be absolutely sure the location is where you want to be before you book.

I liked the welcome and warmth of Anna and her husband. The area has a lot of greenery, very quiet and good location for Addenbrookes hospital and the city centre. The room is very clean and an adequate bathroom. Lot's of information at the reception from both Anna about local buses, amentities and shops aswell as cards for taxi companies, takeaways and restaurants and entertainment in Cambridge. I would highly recommend a stay here.

Comfortable and clean little room in a leafy suburb and only a couple of miles from the city centre. Ideal if you want a budget stay in Cambridge. The landlady, Anna, was helpful and friendly. Would recommend.

4 out of 5 stars.

It was a good experience, well maintained house converted into a lodge, excellent wifi, good tv, friendly support by Anna. Only issue is there is no complimentary dinner or breakfast, which must be compulsory for properties asking north of 50 pounds per night. Here we paid 91 pounds, moreover there is no nearby kitchen or store or restaurants, one has to walk a couple of miles to get access to modern facilities.

We had an excellent stay at Aylesbray lodge. Anna (one of the owners) made sure she would be there on our arrival, she even phoned me before we got there to make sure we were still on target for the time we'd said. Anna was very helpful and even showed us on a map places to go nearby and made sure we had a cool room as i'd asked for a fan in our room due to the very hot weather. The room was beautiful, the wifi was brilliant!! We had everything we needed. The front of the house had a cute bench and table which had an umbrella with coloured fairy lights on it which i thought was very very cute!!! It was next to a bus stop which goes right into the centre of Cambridge too so the location was very good!

Convenient location for working at Addenbrookes

I had to wait 20 minutes before I was let into the guest house. I was then taken to another building only to find that the room was not made up so had to return to the original building (only 100m but with luggage is an inconvenience). The double room was small (luckily I was on my own otherwise you would have to take turns to move around the room) and has not been decorated for a long time, the bed was uncomfortable, the carpet was very worn and the spiders were unwelcome visitors.

A bit too far and small for the price

Nothing offensively bad at Aylesbray, it's a nice old place with a pleasant polite owner. But only after arriving did we realise it wasn't convenient for non-drivers like us. Bed was too soft, as well. Also, the room and bathroom were tiny. It didn't seem worth the money.

Terribly dirty and filthy

Horrible experience. Can not believe someone can rent out such a dirty place . Mouldy bathroom. Very dusty dirty stinking carpet. The pillows were stinking and the curtains dirty and torn. Never in my life have I ever seen such a horrid lodge.

Close to Addenbrooke hospital

I booked this hotel online based on it's proximity to the hospital (it's a 15 minute walk). The staff were very accommodating for check in timing (I didn't arrive until 6am due to flight delays). Unfortunately the condition of the rooms is not great. I'm rather surprised it averaged 2.7 stars. No bed bugs at least!

the guesthouse was very expensive for the quality of the room. the double bed was so close to the wardrobe that I couldnt open the door all the way or walk past the bed without pushing against the wardrobe. the decor was very dated and the bathroom had seen better days. the one good thing was the bed was comfortable

Awful place to stay!!!!

The shower cubicle was disgusting! it had mold all over it and probably hadn't been cleaned properly in over a year. The bed was lumpy, uncomfortable and it was hard to sleep due to the extractor fan coming on in the bathroom every time another guest used their bathroom.The owner said it would be £10 extra for breakfast even though its advertised as a BnB. The place is still stuck in the 70's and needs a big update. I would never stay here again and wouldn't wish it upon anyone!!

The room was musty and stale smelling the little mat infront of the bed looked dirty. The wallpaper in the bathroom was peeling and made the place look dirty and untidy. The room was cold. The general appearance of the room made me question the cleanliness of the sheets.

complete waste of my time

Booked through hotels.com. Hotel owner never received the confirmation.
No one was there when I was dropped off by taxi. Waited for 2 hrs knocking on the main front door as well as windows with lights on without success.
Ended up calling Cambridge Police Station who then found another phone number for the owner. They called him and he arrived 20 minutes later. Very apologetic but still insisted on a cash payment even though I had already paid through PayPal with hotels.com.
Don't know if I was reimbursed yet... Enjoying my vacation elsewhere right now... Will deal with it soon... Just see this email and couldn't resist but to interrupt my vacation in Barbados I did not use Hotels.com for!

HOTELS.COM hidden charges when booking

Hotel ok, however, HOTELS.COM charged me extra on the credit card after I booked it (which I did not agree to) and Hotels.com will not refund me the difference or explain what the charge is for/give me a receipt or it. They mentioned something about city tax (which I had no idea applied to England) and all I asked for was a receipt but have still yet to receive it. Emailed them about 7 times no response.

A Flying Visit

Hotel location was very convenient for Addenbrooke's but a bit of a way from city centre.

The staff was very friendly and helpful and the customer service was very good.

Unfortunately, the hotel was very tired looking and needs some attention.

As soon as I opened the door to my room I could smell damp and it was cold despite the radiator being on. The unsuite bathroom had mould on the ceiling, and tiles and wallpaper was coming away from the wall and it was not very clean. It just generally needed some work and updating.

This is a shame as the staff were very helpful and welcoming.

Anti Allergy

The establishment really need to look at ensuring that anti allergy methods are used in the preparation and up keep of their rooms. I spent the first two nights sneezing...nightmare.
