On his way to the area, my husband hit a deer which damaged his vehicle, making it necessary for him to return home. Although he had made his reservation a nonrefundable one, I believe an accident should have made the management more considerate of the situation, and allowed a refund. They didn't, making my husband's accident all the more expensive for us and more troubling for my husband. Not being kinder makes us feel negatively towards this establishment, which will now lose years of business, as my hubby often goes down to play golf in the area.

Turns out 1/2 the tvs have cable and streaming services and 1/2 only have streaming. I wanted to watch current news and was disappointed to learn I had a streaming room only. Hotel was average on everything else. Night auditor or evening staff was very nice.

The door to the first room we were assigned was literally open, and the room pitch black, when we walked up. Major Dexter vibes. So we requested a new room but the key didn’t work. We were given a second new key which didn’t work either. All faith lost in room security at this point. We were assigned a third room which was right he the outside entrance and very noisy, day and night. Alas, we finally the enter the room, and to our unwelcomed surprise, a huge tinted mirrored lined the entire wall behind the bed, begging the question why? It was 100% giving two way surveillance mirror vibes. Creepy, again. Another mirror in front of the bed where a respectable hotel would place a nice tv. But there was a small tv at ceiling height off on the corner which gave the impression of a hospital room. Grungy carpet so we left our socks on. The shower was clean but you had to scale the shower wall to be under the water bc it is angled as such so as to not spray out of the shower which has a crop top curtain that doesn’t reach the rim of the tub. Housekeeping did not clean our to on day 2 which I decided was fine afterall, for privacy. Continental breakfast is all microwaveable food rather than proper hot options so we took a pass and spent what we should have on a better hotel room, on breakfast elsewhere. Staff was very nice but will never stay here again.

The room smelled musty. It was dingy and very outdated. Rusty around door frames. And a tissue was stuffed in the peep hole. There was also a dead mouse on the sidewalk right outside the room which was visible looking out the window.

The room was clean, the staff friendly. But it is obvious that maintenance on the facility has declined significantly since it was a microtel. Lights out in the room, bath fan out, and lights out in the elevator. Not a bad experience, I just hate to see the decline in a hotel ive used in the past.

Continental breakfast was kind of sparce.

Did not like the room as it was just inside the door to the outside which was continually slammed as people went in and out. Had stayed at this same hotel just days ago and were on a higher floor which was much quieter.

The room was super clean and up-to/date, the bed was very comfy and the staff were all so nice. The shower had excellent water pressure and the fan worked well. The heating/cooling system was also great - we could adjust it ourselves and it worked wonderfully. We enjoyed the breakfast (basic but good) and I loved how there was tea/coffee available all day. We loved our stay here and would definitely stay again! Excellent location, too!

I come from NJ a few times a year to see my son at VT. I was here this weekend, 2 nights, for a football game. I have stayed at hotels in Blacksburg and Christiansburg the last 2 years. I will not be staying at this hotel again for the following reasons- you can hear people through the walls, people walking in the room above you, the heater in the room is a bit loud, the bed was just ok, I took a shower and because the shower curtain is too short for the tub, when I was done there was water on the floor that I had to clean up, there is only a small pack of soap in the bathroom to use for washing your hands and taking a shower. There is no free breakfast like other hotels. The hotel seems a bit older, especially in regard to the furniture and the mirror behind the bed

Staff was very good and helpful. Only thing was that I had a leaky faucet in my room. Wish I had a refrigerator as I did not notice that there was not one when I booked. There was no coffee maker in the room but they had some barely warm coffee in the wee hours of the am. Good price and good place to stay for an overnight. Did not have breakfast as we were gone too early but I think it is only a cold breakfast.

Overall this hotel was average. I reserved a double queen room. Upon checkin I told the front desk attendant I wanted a quiet room. After driving eight hours we were tired and needed to sleep. She said since I booked online they cannot change the room. So we ended up with a room right by the interstate. Instead of getting some good sleep, we heard the traffic going by all night long. Make sure do your research before booking a room at this property!

Toilet not working

Our toilet would not flush properly. We called the front desk about the issue and they wanted us to come down to the desk and get a plunger to fix the problem. We asked if someone could fix the problem and that was the solution. When we asked about moving to another room, they wanted to have us pay an upcharge since there were no rooms left like ours, only an upgraded room. We refused and sat in disbelief that they were not willing to take care of a guest with this type of problem. They came up to plunge the toilet themselves, but the toilet still did not work properly. We saw another guest in the elevator with a plunger in his hands, so we were not the only ones experiencing this problem. We will never stay here again because of the poor management, not caring about the guests, and having to stay in a room with a non-functioning toilet.

The front desk was very helpful and pleasant. The room was clean enough, but just old. The bathroom also had some rust but it wasn’t dirty.

Since it’s a pet friendly hotel, they could use some more outside areas to walk them (on leash).

The breakfast, while free, wasn’t good. All processed junk basically.

While the property is a little dated, it does the trick if you need a place to sleep and shower. The staff were very friendly and the continental breakfast was convenient. Because the backside of the building faces route 460, there's a lot of vehicle noise that penetrates the air conditioners. I would highly recommend a unit on the front side of the building.

I stayed for a football weekend. The hotel decor in the rooms is quite dated but the beds were comfortable. I did not eat the free breakfast but they had hot tea available all day. The room seemed to be well insulated from hallway noise. We were in the back of the hotel which is adjacent to the highway, there was some noise from that.

Probably need to check the acoustics of the tvs. 131 had a buzz.

I know we live in a capitalist country but paying almost 700 bucks for this dirt hole for 2 days just because it's move in week at Virginia Tech is absolutely criminal! The room stunk like a greesy turd, it was dated and falling apart, the rug was damp and the room was lit up like a strobe light when all the lights were turned off! Listen, for 80 to 100 bucks a night it's what you expect and I wouldn't be so hard on the review! But to gouge people like they did you have to at least be able to justify it a little bit.. And they really aren't close to justifying anything! If it's the only place left on the list and it's \"normal rates\" maybe you can get through it? Otherwise stay away! The location was good and the young lady at the front desk was nice! The breakfast was a joke so don't count that into your saved expenses.. You'll be eating breakfast out for sure.

The hair dryer went on fire when I turned it on. And it was uncomfortable in the parking lot. There were 3 cops in the back corner with a women. There were homeless hanging around. I was quite nervous leaving my car overnight.
I have stayed there before and no issues.
Need to have cops or some security take care of whatever is going on outside.

Located close to the main road but not loud, staffs are absolutely friendly and warm, the room is spacious, bed is soft and have functional ac in the room(a little loud for sleep). The most important part is the free breakfast and coffee in the morning, very recommended for limited budget!

The breakfast bar was very minimal, no cooked or warm foods. Bed slept fine, a lot of room noise from others there during the night. I would say it was just an average room with no extra amenities. Clean but not extra clean. No real complaints other that breakfast was very disappointing. It served the purpose of our one night.

Nice affordable place to stay. Breakfast was weak ...peanut butter was old as was jelly. Jist flat options. Apples were like tasteless the muffins with egg,cheese, and bread were the same. The room was clean and the bath was ok. Beds were acceptable the layout was tight. You get a reasonable place for reasonable price. I actually would stay again and know i was living on the cheap. A few hours awake and most hours elsewhere.
