This is my hotel of choice in London, mainly due to its location in the City and the excellent customer relations and staff. Being a converted historical property the hotel has a unique character and the rooms vary in size and style. The rooms are clean and any problems there may be with the room facilities are soon sorted by the very attentive staff. The hotel serves a first class breakfast and there are many great restaurants and coffee shops in the vicinity. The most pleasing thing about staying at the hotel is without doubt the staff who are, in my experience, the best in London - all well trained, knowledgeable, friendly and dedicated to making their guests stays a pleasing and memorable experience.

Staff were efficient in main hotel. Not sure this hotel should be described as 5 star. Room was small but adequate for 1 night. Fire alarm went off twice in the night - 12am and 3am!!! No proper answer on why. Breakfast service very slow. No residents lounge or bar in hotel itself which is a shame. Reception directed us to pub bar joined to hotel. That bar is also open to public and was packed with hardly any seating in bar area.

Due to its location I have stayed at the hotel several times with varying degrees of satisfaction. Due to the nature of the converted building the rooms and bathrooms are all configured and furnished differently and so it is luck of the draw getting a room that meets all of ones preferences. In my experience the rooms are also getting rather tired and there is always some defect present. On this occasion the lighting in the room was very poor and the lightbulb in the hallway was not working making the entrance very dark. The door lock did not work. The water temperature in the shower was difficult to control and one day it was impossible to obtain hot water. The room was also very cold as I could not get the heating system to work. Rather than guests having to constantly complain and request maintenance to visit, it would be better if rooms were throughly checked for defects before being let to guests.

The staff were very welcoming. My room was upgraded from a single to a double which was so lovely. The room was big, clean and the bed was comfy. Slept great. I'm still waiting for my £50 refundable deposit to go back on my card.

The staff were courteous and on the whole efficient. The rooms however need attention from requiring, we were moved as there were numerous problems with the heating and lighting. The furniture was pretty rickety. If the staff hadn’t been so helpful we would have been thoroughly dissatisfied.

Firstly, the welcome at reception from the staff was very friendly and efficient! Check-in was around 2 minutes. The ambience was very welcoming and the smell was beautiful! I forgot to ask what fragrance they were using for the reception area! 🙄 I would love this for my home X
The room was very nice and the bed was so comfy. The only thing I would say is the coffee choice in the room could've been better, rather than just Nescafé sachets, maybe some nicer coffee bags or even a coffee pod machine would be great.
The hotel is located in a lovely area and is nice and quiet on an evening, and even quieter in a morning for London haha!
Overall, I would highly recommended this hotel!

We arrived 2 hours early before check in but were lucky enough to be offered a room. It was an accessible room which we dont strictly need. I dont think the room is had been used for a while as bathroom drain stink and small sin was laeking. The do not disturb button did not workneither. Staff were beey good though.

Room 236 ruined my stay. Loud generator noise, rattling AC and no USB sockets meant no sleep before a day of meetings.
I checked in late after travelling for business. Check-in was smooth and the concierge was great, but the room itself was a real disappointment. Room 236 is across a courtyard, through a back door and up to the second floor. Inside, the two small windows had reflective glass and were held shut with a metal bracket. They weren’t soundproof, and the constant noise from a generator outside filled the room.

The air-conditioning unit rattled all night, so between that and the generator, sleep was almost impossible. There were also no USB sockets, meaning I couldn’t charge my phone overnight, which caused avoidable issues the next day during meetings.

When I checked out, I reported everything, but was asked why I didn’t mention it during the night. Given the late arrival and an early start, I just tried to sleep. My concern is that rooms are cleaned daily, so staff would have known about these problems before I arrived. It feels like poor management to hand over a room in that condition, especially to someone travelling for work.

This stay left me tired, inconvenienced and frustrated. Travellers should be aware of Room 236, and I truly hope management takes this feedback seriously and reaches out, as this experience isn’t what anyone expects from a hotel of this standard.

Room was nice enough, if a little tired and dark (looked nothing like photos on website though!). However, it was an absolutely freezing - maybe 16 degrees at best - notwithstanding the thermostat being set to 26 degrees. Single glazed windows on a cold day meant tons of noice (including overnight) and, of course, cold room. But more fundamentally, there just appeared to be no heating in the room. Not what I wanted when I returned from a dinner late at night. Was told on check out the manager would investigate and contact me but no contact made. Person in front of me at check out was also complaining of same issue... Not what you expect from a relatively expensive hotel in London.

I cannot commend the staff highly enough. I booked this room for my sister and brother in law who were visiting for a special birthday. The hotel were wonderful and made a fuss of my brother in law. They were so accommodating and friendly. It made the weekend so special. I would live to stay again!

A very nice hotel with great character.

From the initial interaction from the reception staff, to the final good bye from the gentleman on the door as we left, every single member of staff was courteous, polite, and accommodating.

We stayed in the WOW Suit which had a lot of space. We found that there were a lack of plug sockets near the bed. If I was going to suggest an improvement, it would be for a bigger TV to be installed.

The breakfast was very nice. A good selection of different items, and they were all fresh. No old fruit in this fruit salad. :)
I prefer poached eggs over scrambled, but this isn't easy in a buffet style breakfast.

We were invited to use their joining pub for an evening meal, but the pub staff say they are always busy on Sundays which results on many hotel guests not being able to the pub restaurant; something they have told the hotel but they do not tell the guests. The concierge was able to suggest other local services to use.

Water went off and when back on trickled out so couldn’t even enjoy a bath our room was underground and next to some sort of generator or noisy something out the window meaning we barely slept in the tiniest double bed. Still poor after the refurb - cheaply done

This hotel has had a refurbishment so the bathrooms have been done, however the rest of the room is really poor the television you will not use if you found it in a skip, and there is a bedside table which is so old that you wouldn’t use it if you were homeless. Somworn out. The general cleanliness of the hotel is low and the beds are very soft very old mattresses. Alos why at this expensive price point can you not have cotton sheets cotton pillows cases and decent bedding? The bedding is nylon it’s cheap it’s very poor so from my opinion Best Avoid.

Nice big room

Great location, friendly staff - good breakfast.

Great location in London. Staff were welcoming and the room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was buffet style and had a good selection of both hot English breakfast and cold items like cheeses, fruits or cereals. If I'd change one thing, I'd say the room itself felt a bit dated and we weren't convinced the air con was doing much. Still was a plesent stay!

The beds were comfortable , the room was quite warm but within minutes 2 fans were brought to the room which were great, the evening meal we had there was lovely and the service was great.
The staff are so polite and professional, the Piano player on an evening was amazing. Would highly recommend this hotel a little off the beaten tourist track but well worth it and easy to get to every where . Loved it

Absolutely brilliant from start to finish staff were absolutely amazing, had a double rather than a booked twin but changed the room instantly without any issues. Concierge was really pleasant, couldn't fault it apart from didn't have a 24hr bar which admittedly is few and far between now. Raissa was so welcoming and genuine, will definitely be coming back

The hotel is tired and certainly not 5* (though I understand it is about to be refurbished). A key reason I chose the hotel was for air conditioning and it wasn’t working. I complained and was told that an engineer would fix it whilst we were out, I later found out they already knew about the problem and it was never going to be fixed so I was annoyed about the lack of honesty. On the second night we were told we would be moved to a room with ac but when we can back we found it was a double and we had clearly required a twin.They did find a twin in the end but after another 30 min wait at 10pm. The second night was better but it is a really expensive hotel to not have ac and to have to move twice - really we hardly had any use of a suitable room. Overall I was really disappointed. Many staff did try to help though. In saying all that the location is really handy and perhaps the refurb will transform it.

An odd mixture of hotel experience: super friendly helpful staff, and modern fittings in room. But, room smelt stuffy (had previous guests been smoking?), windows were closed and although we opened then, the room remained hot, even though cool outside. We could not switch off bathroom fan, despite trying everything except phoning reception (wish I had)

I booked this hotel for my daughter, who was there to watch a show as her 21st birthday present from us. I let the hotel know that this was the case and to our surprise they arranged balloons in the room and a bottle of prosecco. This was such a nice touch and really made it feel special for her, so I am both really impressed and very grateful to the staff that did this and went the extra mile. My daughter loved the hotel and had a great time thank you!

As a 5 star hotel you have an expectation of a 5 star and not 2 star. This was so far one of my worst experiences, room was very small and extremely noisy, we couldn’t even rest. The room had a very poor design and feels like that we are in a cage.
We didn’t even shower.

Great room but lock faults and below par breakfast

The Room was insecure, a Caretaker had to fix the card reader/lock fault.
The room itself and hotel interior was of a very good standard.
Breakfast was disappointing - no bread/toast option to go with the cooked egg/bacon/beans items; and the food wasn't hot. In contrast, the fruit juices were warm.
Then the Room's card reader had the opposite fault of not unlocking and we needed assistance again.

Give This Hotel A Wide Berth

The hotel looks amazing but there are buts......

1. The AC didn't work in the room - a small fan was given but did not cool the room

2. Becase of the AC issues the hotel offered a free breakfast as way of an apology- very nice i thought but i was charged for it!
The hotel doesnt reply to any emails which is disappointing

Because of the very poor lack of communication from the hotel, I definitely would not stay at this hotel again, which is a real same because the building is beautiful

Looks impressive, but too many issues.

On first impressions this hotel looks impressive. The location is good on a quiet street, with two tube stations within a 5 min walk. The staff are very freindly and helpful.
Unfortunately the decore needs looking at. From a distance it looks fine but upon closer inspection there are a few areas that need tidying up. In my room there was what looks like mold on the wall beteen the twin beds. An air vent in the ceiling was missing so I could see shoddy plaster work and a big hole. The lights above the wardrobe were broken making it very dark when finding clothes. The curtains needs to be washed as they had marks and stains on them.
The room I was given initially had broken aircon and was unbearably hot. I asked for a room change and was shown another room which I was happy with, but when I gathered my bags I was then told the room had been given to somebody else, this made me slightly angry as it was 8.30pm and I wanted to relax. I then had to sit in reception for 20 mins and was eventually shown two more rooms. One was a double, no good as I'd booked a single, the other room wasn't to the same standard as I was expecting. Eventually they put me in the first room they had shown me, this was fine and had working aircon.
I would have stayed here again, but after these issues I would choose somewhere else to stay.
