It's a clean, well maintained hotel in a good location, staff on reception were very polite. We had breakfast on the second day that had a few problems, nothing too serious, but I'm not giving it a perfect mark mainly because I thought the rooms were a bit cold in style. Nice big windows to keep it bright, but a bit small and I know booked the cheapest room, but it wasn't that cheap, which means there are better out there at this price range.

Virgin Hotel, London**

My recent stay at [Hotel Name] in London was marked by a mix of experiences, both positive and negative, that are worth sharing.

**Check-In Experience**

Upon arrival, I encountered significant challenges during the check-in process. The procedure required me to sign in on a tablet, which posed difficulties due to my disability. Although I communicated my concerns to the reception staff, I initially felt embarrassed and frustrated while waiting at the main reception. Fortunately, after some time, a staff member stepped in to assist me, which alleviated some of the stress. However, this initial interaction set the tone for an experience that I found to be less than welcoming.

**Pool Facilities**

The hotel's pool area was another disappointment. Contrary to the promotional images that suggested a magnificent indoor setting, I discovered that the pool is, in fact, an outdoor facility. While it is heated, the reality fell short of my expectations. I was informed that I could attend the pool area in the dressing gown provided, only to find that an event was taking place, requiring me to walk past other guests to access the pool. This lack of privacy and the underwhelming ambiance of the pool area contributed to my dissatisfaction, leading me to return to my room without utilizing the facilities.

The room and amenities were excellent - we loved the heated rooftop pool (open even in Feb) and the in-room steam shower. However, we had terrible sleep due to being able to hear the music from the hotel’s bar until well past 2am, even with earplugs in and despite normally being easy sleepers. Very frustrating given how much they charge for rooms.

The staff service was excellent, having put birthday items in my room for a birthday trip on my part. Balloons, a card, slice of cake and \"happy birthday\" written on the mirror were lovely touches.
The room was lovely, and the steam room inside the shower an outstanding feature that should be sold more actively.

The room was lovely,and very comfortable bed.
Roof top bar was a bit disappointing,not a great choice of drinks and limited seating unless you are eating,we were told that it is run independently from Virgin.
Overall nice hotel but unfortunately during our stay there was a very bad smell,damp and musty in the corridoors and lift areas but not in the room.

We had a fantastic stay- everything was perfect, from the staff being friendly and endlessly helpful, gorgeous and comfortable room and incredible food, service and views from the 7th floor bar/restaurant. I was not able to try the pool but will next time. From now on we will only book Virgin hotels. The BEST!!!

Boutique hotel, King Chamber room was perfect for ok need. Standouts the incredible steam shower and water quality, my wife and I are sensitive to hard / treated water I suspect the hotel maybe using a water softener and filter system as it seemed very kind to put skin. I have stayed in hotels in the same designer-upscale-but-chic category repeatedly before. I had great expectations for this hotel. Especially coming from the Virgin products' strong reputation. But this time, the experience fell short.

From the moment of check-in the hospitality of the lady at the counter, offered no sense of welcome: not one smile, not even eye contact. I believe she didn't even know how to use the registering platform. The whole check-in felt 100% transactional.

Then, the room and amenities were not bad, not close to what I have seen in similar hotels in London. The shower had so low-pressure that made taking a shower a sad experience.

Other staff members were at least efficient -never amenable or friendly- but when I asked for additional water bottles, they were delivered instantly to my room.

Overall, the stay was not that bad, but my point is that they could do so much better, considering their competition is now bodies ahead of them in London. And they should make a better effort to better represent the Virgin Brand.

I would not stay in this hotel again. Money-wise, I know I can get much better attention and much better value in other hotels in this category in London.

I would rate the Virgin Hotel greater than 5 stars if I could! The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful, and every staff member we encountered was warm, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. Our room was cozy, thoughtfully designed, and perfectly appointed with everything we could need — proof that bigger isn’t always better!

A special shoutout to the hotel’s general manager, David, who went above and beyond to smooth our travels for the next day by arranging a car service to our next destination, 2.5 hours outside of London. We had naively assumed that black cabs would take us that far, but David’s quick assistance saved the day.

Everything about our stay exceeded expectations — from the comfort of the room to the exceptional hospitality. We can’t wait to return!

Moldy gym & cooking oil air pollution in lobby/bar

Could be great but we didn’t use the gym as the basement was moldy (classic Shoreditch mold problem) and the staff seemed blissfully unaware / unconcerned.

Also the bar is beautiful but you couldn’t be in there as the air was thick with oil fumes coming from the kitchen.

They seem really unconcerned with the health of their guests trying to minimise these issues and even gaslighting us into trying to make out they didn’t exist.

For that reason we don’t be going back.

Room was ok. Bed leaves little room to get past, for the person sleeping on the far side. Staff in bar were really good, breakfast on the rooftop was a bit slow, and one thing from the order got missed. Overall, a bit disappointing compared to the Edinburgh hotel

Loved everything about the Virgin Hotel. It has a warm welcoming feel and the staff are exceptionally helpful, friendly and professional. Rooms are lovely, super clean and well equipped. Amenities are fabulous, Hidden Grooves bar is fabulous & roof top pool a bonus. Location is brilliant, within walking distance to everything. Shoreditch is a great place to stay and I would not hesitate to return to the Virgin Hotel. Kudos to your staff they are an asset to your business.

Bit disappointing

I really have mixed feelings about this place. The room was great, super comfortable and the steam shower was a great addition. However, the on site nightclub meant it was VERY noisy with people coming and going into the wee small hours and kept us awake half the night.

The rooftop bar and pool was one of the main reasons we booked but I was really disappointed. The staff were incredibly standoffish and on one occasion we were ignored for over 10 minutes when booking into the pool and so we left. On another occasion it was too busy and we couldn’t get access. However if you’re looking for somewhere with staff that take forever to serve you, a DJ that blasts out music to a ridiculous volume and caters mainly for Love Island reflects who all vape in the pool, this is your kind of place.

Similar experience in the ground floor bar. Very poor level of service from the staff.


Shame because it not what I expected from a Virgin hotel and very different from my experience at their Edinburgh hotel , which is fabulous.

However there was an incident with our room within 30 minutes of us checking in where we were inside and staff unlocked the door and were about to come in until I shouted out. I was undressed at the time. It was an error on their part. After we complained they explained and apologised and gave us free drinks but it was a bit scary when it happened and we felt unsettled during our stay. Overall really nice room and great location but the staff didn’t feel as warm, friendly or with an overall good vibe, even at the bar on the ground floor, as other hotels nearby like Nobu and The Hoxton.

Roof top pool but don’t eat there

Arrived to stay as an 18th birthday present for my daughter. Booked the hotel for location, outdoor roof top pool and gym. At reception told the gym was shut for our stay. Went to the outdoor rooftop pool to find a private work party so no access to the pool. The room itself was great. Lovely beds, good aircon and great bathroom. Very sound proofed. Mange your expectations of the view as it’s Shoreditch…. You might get bins and in our case a drain cleaning truck revving at 7am… The location is great for eating out.
Next day we had access to the pool. Go changed in a robe otherwise the changing room is the loo. The pool was great with a view of the city.
Breakfast back in the adjacent roof top restaurant. Seemed understaffed. Coffee was excellent. The breakfast was awful. £17 for a full English. Ordered poached eggs that were boiled until they crumbled. Dry brittle bacon and from frozen hash brown. My daughters yoghurt and fruit came with bran flakes not granola. That was £7. Fresh orange juice was watered down. None of the smoothies available. Guest next to us ordered eggs florentine… was told no spinach.. ‘would he like mushrooms instead…?’
I’d recommend the hotel for the location and the roof top pool when accessible. Just don’t eat there and call to see if any of the facilities aren’t available.

A truly phenomenal experience! Virgin Hotels has redefined what a perfect stay looks like. The staff's attentiveness and warmth were unparalleled, making every moment effortless, making us feel utterly pampered. And the beds? Pure cloud-like bliss! I genuinely had the best sleep I've ever experienced in a hotel. We've been so incredibly spoilt that I honestly don't think we'll ever be able to stay anywhere but a Virgin Hotel again. This isn't just the best hotel we've stayed at; it's a new benchmark for hospitality! We would have booked a second night if we didn't have to get back to the doggo. Now we know we can bring the dog for free, he'll be coming with us next time. Thank you for the lovely stay.

My first time at this hotel and I had a wonderful stay. The room was very stylish, everything you could ask including a steam shower! Had the best sleep ever in the bed. The roof top terrace is lovely. The staff were very attentive, the food was delicious and I will bring my swimming costume for the pool next time! Fantastic Stay!

We stayed for a 60th birthday and booked 5 rooms for 5 couples. Our stay was absolutely amazing I couldn’t fault it. The room was spotless, the service was fantastic and a bottle of champagne was left in the birthday room. The staff were wonderful and the bar area was stunning. The guests we stayed with had stayed before but this was my first time and will most definitely be back!

They were very accommodating in providing us with an early check in, as we had travelled with an infant. Also when the steam shower in our room didn't work, they changed our room.
The location was ideal too, walking distance from Liverpool st.station and quite central.
