Second time staying at The Hoxton, Shoreditch and I have to say it’s ok. Rooms are small and don’t have that luxury feel you’d expect.
We had a problem with our room door not locking when we went out, informed reception who contacted their maintenance person, received a msg from them about an hour later saying there was nothing wrong with the door and we must have closed it incorrectly! There was clearly a problem with the door which they managed to fix, why not just admit there was a problem?? Makes no sense!
Also had an issue with room above moving furniture around til 1am, my partner called reception who said they would send someone up, 5 mins later we received a call saying they’d sent security up and had advised them to stop moving furniture, luckily this worked (thank you!) and we didn’t hear them moving furniture til around 10am the next morning.
Staff were friendly, the lobby is lovely, location is perfect you can easily get anywhere across London from Old Street or Liverpool St.
Would we stay again? Only if it’s the cheapest (not basic budget) option.

The room and staff were fantastic. Building work was happening on the 1st and 2nd floors while I was there and I wasn’t informed either before booking or on check in. This was quite disruptive since it starts quite early and goes on all day. I was also informed afterwards that this is due to go on for the rest of the year so plan accordingly. I raised this with management and their idea of rectifying this issue was to offer an undisclosed preferential rate on a future stay.

They are doing construction work in the hotel from 10 am till 4 pm. I was trying/hoping to get quiet work done in my room. The sound peaked at 85 db which, bless them, is just below the level you should wear hearing protection…
I enquired at reception and they consoled me by agreeing it was loud and it had been going on for 6 months. 6 months! How about accepting you can’t provide the basics of a hotel at full capacity while you’re doing renovations. At least mention it on the listings.

We loved the hotel. Ticket all the boxes for us. We didn’t take a pic of the bathroom , which is unusual. But it was very nice. No sound of the exhaust but no steam after showering and the tilt of the floor in the showers were just right that the water drained away quickly with no risk of water leaving the shower cubicle.

For the money, just not good enough. This is a great hotel…. Except for the awful we-work community that congregates all day every day in the what is otherwise a lovely lobby. Totally killed my holiday vibe. Felt like I was in a Google office. When I made a comment about that the hotel staff sternly said ‘we are trying to encourage it’. That brings me to the hotel staff - not the best. No going out of their way. Very big apple monitors shield them from their obviously unwanted guests. Contrast the staff of the Hoxton Grill which shares the lobby who were amazing, welcoming, kind. The hotel could take a lesson!

Hoxton Delivers Again
We had a fantastic stay here. The staff were excellent, as we have come to expect from Hoxton Hotels (this is our fourth of there properties), very friendly and chatty. We love Hoxtons as they have a very relaxed feel to them whilst still being excellent when it comes to hospitality and service. Our room was very comfortable and quiet. The food was excellent and the whole bar/restaurant was buzzing. At the weekends they have a DJ in the evening and it was great seeing it was busy. We are a bit older so after a three course meal and a show we nipped off to bed before 11pm and didn't hear a peep. The location is great and just a 5 minute walk from Old Street Underground. We can't recommend it enough.

The room was gorgeous and so clean! Unfortunately it was a very noisy room, the property opposite had a delivery lorry arrive around 11:30pm and it was so loud. There were also people shouting in the corridor. The mattress wasn’t comfortable at all so not the best for a restful sleep. I would have loved to relax in the lobby but it was absolutely crammed full of people on laptops every time I went down there. The front desk staff were really lovely though and the breakfast bag was great value and a nice touch.
