Our room was spacious and spotlessly clean. The beds were comfortable. We made good use of the swimming pool, sauna and steam room. The breakfast, which we prebooked, was excellent, there was a wide menu and very good buffet too. My daughter had Eggs Royale which was cooked perfectly. All staff were polite and friendly. The hotel is well positioned for the NEC. Good value for money.

Room was a cozy room so small with a king size bed and compact clean bathroom.
Good for rhe price.
For me it was the staff that made my stay special. Lynette the manager at breakfast and all of her super friendly attentive staff could not do enough. I was staying on my own and they made me feel so comfortable and treated me so wonderfully explaning what was available and were attentive. Lynette made the stay so memorable and is an asset to the hotel which is in a convenient location for what i was in Birmingham for.

Good location close to the centre and train station. Friendly staff throughout the hotel and leisure centre. Really nice brand of soaps and hair care provided in the en suite. Very comfortable bed.

Did feel catfished by photographs of the swimming pool. Changing rooms in poor condition; hot tub not working (they’re sourcing quotes to get it fixed according to the A4 sign) and tiles underfoot in pool moved about. Children still had fun in the pool thankfully.

We had to switch rooms twice because one had a window that wouldn't shut, and the other's heating didn't work. During the first switch the staff member was apologetic and offered something to compensate as well asking if we needed help with our luggage. However, during the second, there was no acknowledgement that we had been inconvenienced a second time nor was there offer to help move our luggage - we had to move all our luggage across the hotel at midnight ourselves.

Heating in the room would not kick in in the morning. Turned it off overnight but it was so cold, the duvet was rubbish and hollow in the middle. Beds not comfy and pillows very small.
Not an enjoyable stay at all, I’d probably rate it one lower than a premier inn

The location is convenient for shopping. Our main purpose was to visit family. The hotel is clean. The staff are helpful and efficient. We only stayed one night. Our breakfast was added to the room price. The carpark charge of £10.00 was a surprise.
The breakfast was buffet style with a nice variety of good quality items and plenty of additional options. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would return.
The young lady on Sunday breakast restaurant reception deserves a special mention she was very welcoming and professional.

Not a brilliant stay. Very, very long wait at check in with the explanation ‘everyone arrived at once’ — funny that when it’s the start of check-in!

Breakfast a little disorganised and long wait for requested fried eggs, lukewarm coffee and pale bacon with congealed fat.

Staff very polite and friendly which is always lovely. Parking stressful in packed car park.

The hotel is in a very convenient location, within walking distance of several shops and restaurants, which made it easy to find anything I needed during my stay. The room itself was spacious and comfortable, offering plenty of space to relax.

However, I found the hotel amenities to be quite limited compared to what I expected. While the basics were provided, there weren’t many additional facilities or services that usually enhance the overall experience.

On a positive note, the breakfast was enjoyable with a good variety of options. Still, I was disappointed with the parking charges. For the price of the stay, I feel that parking should have been included.

Overall, it was a decent stay, but a few improvements could make it much better. If the amenities were expanded and parking included, the experience would be significantly improved.

Inside the bath there was an ugly looking mark. It looked like something like an insect or poop. I tried to run run water over it. It did not come off. When I went inside the bath to take a shower. I saw it was a rust mark. The whole of the bath was worn out. In a very unsafe condition.
I mention to the receptionist that I am shocked. It is an area really cleaned. Do the motel not care about public safety. A hotel bathroom should not look like this

The stay was excellent,very handy stop over for NEC, staff were great and the breakfast was plentiful, we had bed breakfast and evening meal but my only gripe was the £17 each we had been allocated for use in the restaurant/bar area we weren’t allowed to buy alcoholic drinks with it so basically waved goodbye to £34 as we had already booked elsewhere to eat out

Spent one night here, so not a lot to go on, but had a good stay. Comfortable, nice breakfast, luxury room with amenities. My only complaint is that it rained the night before and the day of my stay. There must've been a leak somewhere, as the carpet in one area was soaked. Gave me wet feet! As it was only one night, I didn't complain, but it does affect the score I'm giving.

Wonderful overnight stay for my sons 17th birthday. Room was lovely very clean with various tea, coffe and hot chocolate sachets with kettle in the room. Iron, ironing board and hairdryer in the room. Shower was amazing with lovely shampoo conditioner and bodywash available. Comfy beds and pillows. Staff were lovely. Lucy receptionist was amazing. I had a birthday banner and balloons for my sons birthday on the sunday. Lucy stayed after her shift and set these up in the restaurant reserved a table for breakfast for us. Above and beyond customer service. Breakfast was amazing with huge amounts of choice. We were late up in the morning and should have checked out by 11am. I asked if we could extend the room as my son needed to shower, no problem. Pool was lovely. Definitely would go vack.

Hotel clean & in good condition, room spotless and comfortable check in very friendly and efficient( checked in an hour early and parking complimentary).We were on the breakfast & evening meal included,evening meal was 3 course with several choices per course, we had french onion soup and spicy breaded prawns (both of which were delicious)and we both chose a spicy jamaican pizza which was enormous and I dont think I have ever had as much topping on a pizza neither of us could finish it and we couldnt manage dessert!.breakfast was really good too.The pool was good and a really nice temperature too!.All the staff we encountered in every department, reception, pool, bar, restaurant and housekeeping were all brilliant. Its a long time since I have stayed in a hotel where I could not fault anything.We were also impressed with Solihull and the area around the hotel.

Nice hotel, nice room. Functional business type hotel. Paid £25 extra for the privelege of parking and bringing our dog with us (nothing provided for the dog and she didn't create any extra cleaning at all!!) Feel its just a hidden extra to bump the price up a bit more! Pool and jacuzzi were very heavily chlorinated to the point it was difficult to breathe and our eyes are still sore the next day.

Bed sheets was dirty, carpets was stained with bright red stains in 2 rooms. Was told it was red wine but not sure. Staff was very rude and tried to accuse us of having 4 people in a 1 double room. Apparently they seen it on cctv but nothing and no apologies given and no compensation given or offered.

My room was very clean and comfortable with a good variety of teas and coffee. There was a hair dryer, iron and ironing board and a safe if required.
The hotel overall was spotless, or meals were fantastic, the braised beef was the best I've ever eaten! Staff were polite and extremely helpful. I would stay here again in a flash. Thank you

I would have given a 5 star review as the pillows were flat and uncomfortable with no choice of alternatives. Bed was comfy though.

Generally very friendly and helpful staff, who went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our stay. We were also given a room upgrade for our silver wedding anniversary and staff had organised prosecco and chocolates as a present from our family, with which we were greeted as we entered the room. The hotel has been refurbished to a high standard and it would be good if the same could be done to the pool area, which is nice, but looking rather tired after years of being left as it is. Only a very minor point, though, which didn't impact on the enjoyment of our stay. We have visited this hotel several times before and always enjoyed our stays. It is ideally situated for exploring Solihull and the Touchwood shopping centre and only half an hour from Birmingham too.

The Voco st John's was a lovely hotel located near the heart of Solihull town center.Our one night stay was fabulous and the room was very spacious with a modern bathroom. The pool area was slightly outdated with slight mould growing in some areas however there were convinient sunlounders spaced carefully around the area perfect if you want a break during your swim. In addition to this , there was a steam room and a jacuzzi. We had a restful nights sleep however the air conditioning was failing to work and noise could be heard from above. Breakfast was brilliant with welcoming and kind staff. The breakfast options catered every need with vegetarian ,vegan, and gluten free options. We recieved complimentary late checkout as an IHG member

£200 for a camp bed

Hotel had overbooked and given incorrect details on use of the pool.

When we arrived we were told the room we had booked was no longer available and we only had the option of a smaller room and the hotel would then drag in a camp bed.

These things happen, and the staff in the hotel did the best they could with limited options.

My frustration is the hotel have refused to refund the difference in price between the room we were given and the room we booked.

£200 to sleep on a camp bed isn’t ok, and the hotel managers refusal to recognise this isn’t good enough.

Hotel is good and location great. Bathrooms however need better trays. The plastic tray with its terrible anti slip is not good for hotel usage. The cleaners just cannot get that rubbish clean. But the room was comfortable and quiet.
