Great small hotel in an ideal location near Campo D’Fiore. Short walk to Pantheon and Trastevere. Staff was super helpful. Breakfast was excellent. Amaro on the rooftop bar was a lovely way to end the day. Highly recommended.

Excellent location with walking distance to many attractions. Only downside for me was that the room was a little hot at night (we also were staying during a heat wave so I understand everyone was hot). Thermostat did not seem to be adjustable. I had staff take a look, and he reset it and told me it was central air for all rooms and at its lowest setting? I chalked it up to a language barrier issue and dealt with it. Of the two hotels we stayed at in Rome, this was the best one and we would be happy to return.

Excellent hotel in a great position for all of Rome attractions, staff very helpful and friendly. Very comfortable room but a bit small. Roof terrace/bar was an added bonus. Only problem was a noisy room clean above us at 7.45am on a Sunday morning.

Hotel Smeraldo is a hidden gem in a perfect
Location to all the major sites. Restaurants we’re just steps away from hotel. All the staff were very accommodating and went out of their way to assist you. I would highly recommend to anyone traveling to Rome to stay there. Another huge plus is the rooftop bar and restaurant. Very quaint and inviting.

We loved everything about Hotel Smeraldo (means Emerald!)… the breakfast was amazing, location was perfect for us, the room was clean and just the right size! Bonus was the roof top restaurant and the best pizza place in the city right across the street! Definitely would recommend and stay here again!

The hotel is located in a great location! Tons of shops and restaurants. Staff was helpful and kind. The only downside was how small the room was but I think for the area it was worth being squished for the 2 nights we were there. If you have a lot of luggage or need space maybe look elsewhere. The hotel is a little older but well kept. The rooftop is cute and has a full bar with snacks.

Room was well located…but very chaotic lobby. There were always a ton of people in front of the doors.

My room was small, but delightful. Very clean, and fabulous balcony with gorgeous views and jasmine growing and scenting the air.
I brought dinner back from the viral roscoli restaurant (straight across, which is why chaotic) and enjoyed on balcony with wine from grocery around the corner.

Staff was very courteous and breakfast was really good…they have a coffee bar that a barista makes your request.

I really liked the location, I walked everywhere, so can’t comment on proximity to public transportation. Took taxi from termini train, and it was 12 euros.

This is an excellent choice and will definitely stay here when in Rome. The rooms are quiet and temp was nice and cool. This boutique style hotel had all the amenities one could want: amazing staff, helpful in every way, the breakfast buffet was healthy with many options plus many coffee drink options. The breakfast staff were extremely busy but always kind and accommodating. The hotel staff were excellent!

It’s conveniently located to all touristy attractions 10-30 mins walk. This location allows for time to take a tour, walk back and get refreshed.

This is the best place to stay. It’s a boutique hotel feel. Amazing breakfast buffet with healthy options, and many coffee selections. The staff are exceptional and very helpful. We will always stay here when in Rome.

Conveniently located 10-25 minutes from all touristy spots, yet quaint and quiet location.

Rooftop bar is quaint & great as well.

Our room was small like most in historic districts but it was beautifully designed and immaculate. We were on a higher floor so didn’t hear street noise. Housekeeping was always prompt and the breakfast offered in this hotel is lovely. You also can’t get a more convenient location - we walked everywhere, all the main sites are within a 30 minute “stroll”.

We enjoyed drinks and appys on the rooftop bar one evening.

Was extremely happy with the room. The bed was wonderful super clean, beautiful detail. The stock was excellent made me feel so welcome especially Leonardo. I think his last name is Jones made me feel like I was at home with the breakfast were amazing. We unfortunately didn’t get to go to the bar upstairs checked it out. The atmosphere was beautiful. Bought lunch and had it on the outdoor terrace upstairs just extremely warm and welcoming from the staff at the breakfast getting your cappuccino every morning. It was amazing and the location is absolutely perfect to walk to everything when I’m not a walker so just love the place.

The hotel is in two parts separated by narrow cobbled street that has a wonderful bar, pizzeria and gelato shop, all within yards of the front doors. The elevator is a little slow and rather small in each building and the rooms have limited electrical outlets, but they are clean and very well sound proofed. On the roof they have a lovely little outside bar for snacks, drinks and light snacks, run by a charming manager, Francesca. The breakfast is a marvelous part of being at the hotel with lovely fresh fruits, juices, handmade savory items, hot breakfast items and personally made coffees - all a wonderful way to start the day. Maybe best of all, the Smeraldo Hotel is so close to all the major tourist destinations in Rome, and a large Farmers Market, that is open each day only a two minutes walk away.

The location is PERFECT. You are STEPS away from a great cafe and one of the best bakeries in Rome! The staff was kind, attentive and extremely helpful!
The breakfast was also a HUGE plus. There is a generous buffet and a wait staff that will take a coffee order for you. All included!
Finally, you are really in the center of Rome and can walk to all of the major attractions in 10-30 minutes.
If you're American like us, the room may be smaller than you're accustomed to, but it was well maintained and got the job done!
HIGHLY recommend that you stay here!!! Being in that area was one of the highlights of our trip!

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Smeraldo. We arrived before noon. The hotel offered to hold our luggage until the room was ready. Staff offered us coffee during the check in process. They gave us a map and circled the areas we were interested in. The hotel is centrally located in the historical center. Everything is in walking distance. We booked a small room and it was small. The room was clean and looked newly renovated. The bathroom was modern and luxurious. Everything about this hotel was elevated. The breakfast buffet was amazing. Hot and cold foods, fresh fruit, eggs, meats, fresh bakery, etc. They had breakfast staff that took our coffee orders. The front lobby was always manned by several friendly helpful staff. We stayed 4 nights and would not hesitate to return.

Comfort Room was a good size but a little bit tired and could do with a paint... Bathroom was small but nice - although shower leaked everytime it was used... Bed was huge and comfy.. Towels, mini safe, kettle all suplied.
Room was \"cleaned\" every day, but floor was never swept..just bed made and towel change, bathroom tidied.. Breakfast was fantastic, and front desk staff were very helpful and approachable.. requested late checkout and was given an extra hour which was really appreciated.. 2-3* Hotel in the best location and to just sleep and shower was ideal...

Giorgio from the front desk was awesome! He was always ready to assist w/ anything we needed, from dinner recommendations, assistance w/ directions & arranging our ride to the airport. The specialty coffee w/ breakfast was a treat in the morning. We eat savory breakfast, w/c they did have, but we also loved the breakfast pastries from Roscioli. We were ready to start the day after each breakfast. It does help to not worry of where & what to eat first thing in the morning, although there are lots to choose from as you walk out of the hotel. We love to walk, we chose the hotel as its in the middle of everything we wanted to see & do. We walked to all the famous sites, except for our day trips to Florence & Venice where we took cabs to the Termini & Tiburtina stations, we walked everyday. Its less than 30min walk to the Colosseum, Piazza del Popolo, & the Vatican, 10mins to the Pantheon, less than 20 mins to the Trevi Fountain and less than 25 mins to the Spanish Steps. We didn't get to enjoy the rooftop bar as we were tired most nights that were back @ the hotel. We had 2 coupons for free Aperol but didnt get to use them, we left it on our hotel table, but couldnt find them when we were ready to use them on our last night. We think housekeeping may have accidentally discarded them.
Overall, a nice hotel thats centrally located, but not in a very crowded noisy area.

This is a clean, well appointed and centrally located hotel. While the rooms could be a little bigger, the location near the Pantheon, Piazza Navona and Campo dei Fiori makes it an excellent choice for a visit to Rome. The staff was uniformly helpful, and the breakfast was included within the room rate. I would book a stay in this hotel again.

I really enjoyed my hotel stay. I was in a single bed room and though it was small it was the perfect size for one person. It was clean and the staff was very kind and helpful. The only thing that may be a problem for others is you could hear everything going on outside and through the walls. I am heavy sleeper so it wasn’t an issue for me. The location is great. I was able to walk everywhere I needed to go easily and there are great food options near the hotel. I would stay here again when I visit Rome again.

Incredible stay at this property. From the moment I arrived I was enthusiastically greeted by the front desk, given all of the information I needed and was given a room. The room was clean, and spacious with very comfortable bedding. The breakfast in the morning was top notch with an excellent selection of tasty food. The front desk staff greeted me by name when I came down and asked how my stay was. While walking out of my room even the house keeping staff asked how I slept, if I ate breakfast and how my overall stay was. Truly felt like a family and not a business.

My second time staying here - the staff are incredible, nothing is too much trouble, I was even personally escorted to a nearby restaurant on my first night as it was late. I had a “solo traveler” room with a balcony and it was perfect, the bed was comfy (a queen size) the shower was fantastic and the balcony was the perfect spot to chill. The breakfast buffet is very extensive and caters to all tastes, the pastries from Riscioli are so good and the coffee cannot be beaten. The location is superb with Campo di Fiori, Piazza Navona and The Pantheon within 15 minutes (maximum) walking distance, beautiful side streets, restaurants on the doorstep and everywhere felt safe and welcoming - can’t wait to return here and to the beautiful city of Roma

The hotel location was central for our needs. Although the room was small it had enough space to not feel too cramped for two of us. The breakfast assortment was fantastic and the overall staff is very friendly and helpful. Roscioli is just a few steps across the hotel and they have good pizza. I would stay here again.
