I was very underwhelmed by this hotel. We just ate in the bar and my pizza was covered in garlic mayonnaise which was disgusting to be honest. One of the mattress in the room (we stayed in a twin) was very noisy, old and mobile and kept us awake when moving at night. The staff were nice but the hotel is basic

Fabulous stay - the rooms are a great size and very modern. Was great to have the room for a small extra cost till 4 pm.
I do think if you are staying in the hotel you shouldn’t be charged for car parking - this should be complimentary as a guest.

Our stay at this hotel was extremely disappointing. We checked in at 4:02 p.m., and from that moment the experience went downhill. The receptionist who checked us in told us that we had to book a time slot to use the swimming pool. Since it was already 4:02, she said we couldn’t use the pool right away and had to book the next available slot at 5:30 p.m.
When we went to the pool at 5:30, we were told to come back later at 6:15, and then again at 9:00 a.m. the next day, which made no sense — especially with young children. Every time we tried to go, the staff kept changing our booking or canceling it without a proper explanation. When I finally took a photo of our confirmed 6:15 booking to prove our slot, they still refused to let us in, claiming it wasn’t possible because our booking was “only for four kids and one adult.” This was completely unfair, as we followed all their booking rules.
It honestly felt like they were making fun of us and simply didn’t want to let us use the facilities. To make things worse, the gym receptionist told us directly that we were not allowed to go there and that it was up to him whether anyone could use the gym or pool. He even said that the gym and pool “belong to him,” which was shocking and completely unprofessional.
Overall, we paid for facilities that we were repeatedly denied access to, and the staff’s behavior was unacceptable. The whole experience was frustrating, disrespectful, and disappointing. I would not recommend this hotel to any

Don't expect to have fun in the pool with Kids, it's a fun free zone! I understand for healthclub type visitors but if you book thinking, 'great the kids will enjoy the pool' it's not worth it, too many rules. (No Jump, No Dive, No under 16 in Jacuzzi etc)

Car charging not hotel owned, it was my first charge away from home, required online payment by card (no apple pay) and one charge was out of order, but I did charge fine overnight once I navigated the issues.

The night manager was particularly helpful to us providing us with room service as the bar was closed before 11pm.
Disappointing for us was that there was no shuttle bus available up to the main hotel where we were dining.

I like the Coldra Court, convenient location when visiting Wales as just off the M4, great restaurant onsite and the rooms are always good. Staff are always helpful and friendly and although expensive there is EV charging available in the car park.

Room was really large and bed was comfy - ground floor room so not able to open the window, felt safe with nice toiletries and tea/coffee

Getting served at the bar was difficult, only one person working and although she was aware we were waiting she continued to clean the other area - probably not a good person to serve customers

Parking was easy and great that we could charge our electric car

Would stay again as great price and close to where we wanted to go for Chepstow race course

Stayed for 2 nights. Left the sign outside the door for cleaning the room in the morning, returned in the evening to find the work not done. The phone in the room was not working to call reception. There was no response on the live web chat. Had to go to reception to ask for towels and shower gel

One issue…a jobsworth at the grill restaurant…empty restaurant at 6.30pm (not a single person there) I walk up and say table for one , he looks at me, looks at his list, sucks his teeth and after a pause says could you come back at 9.30pm! His manner was rude and full of himself rather than explaining there was a part of Yanks in and it would be full in 20 mins. So went to the bar and they were great and had the same food without the ego!

Bed was close to door/corridor leading to a fair amount of noise when people were going to bed or waking up in the morning.

Room was a good size. Roome set up was odd with a small TV on a cabinet to the left of the bed.

Check in and check out was slow with only one staff member on the desk.

Gym and pool had good facilities with latest technogym equipment.

If a pool and extensive gym is not important, I would suggest staying in the Ty Newport next door for a quieter night and a more modern hotel.

Suite. Carpets were not very clean, as was not the bathroom floor. Bog standard normal pillows. No complimentary water in room. Side lights only in bedroom with only 1 make to turn on and you had to get out of bed to turn it off at wall then back to bed in porch darkness. If you want the curtains open to bring in daylight, you are in clear view of people in the pool (4134) with no inner curtain/ cover!
Manager managed to look busy when walking to check out when passing so didn’t have to say good morning and when checking out wasn’t even asked how our stay was - which was a total underwhelming experience especially for the best part of £270 for the night.
I would not recommend.

Our stay was welcoming at the start, room was a good size for a family of 4. Only had a rainfall shower which did not suit two young children and extremely slippery with no shower mat!(we asked but they didnt have any).
After first night we realised springs and loud creaky noises everytime we turned on the mattress! Not a good nights sleep at all. Made front declsk aware, said they would have room serllrv into it! On return to room later that evening, nothing had changed.

The management has changed since we last stayed and everything seemed very inconvenient. There was prebookong and limited times for spa and gym use. The dining room was fully booked when we arrived after a 4 hour journey. The staff would not us allow us to eat or drink our own food in lobby. And rooms were not ready till 4pm. The staff were not warm and happy around the bar and dining area. We would not stay here again

The check in host was friendly but the speed to check in with a young family felt like it took along time. This was just a stop over for a night. £50 deposit and £12 parking which i must of missed in the advertising and still can’t see it.

Don’t take this away from the property though. We didn’t get to experience much. The restaurant looked exceptional. The room was spotless when we arrived. Would have liked a hot bath but the water only ran warm. Perfect for my 4 year old son. Didn’t have breakfast as it was a lot for 1 adult and 2 kids with a £10 buffet breakfast with kids eating free 2 minutes down the road. They didn’t need anything fancy.

We have stayed here may times. Its a beautiful hotel (starting to look a little tired in places)and the staff are wonderful. This visit we noticed a lot more young families than we have before. For us it was a little noisy in the pool and at breakfast. The stay was still lovely.

STAFF WOULDNT LISTEN. booked hot tub slot but people in wouldn’t move out so never got my time. You get what you pay for. Better hotels in the area with better customer service. Keep away

Disappointing, pretentious , PARKING £12 a night

Stayed for 1st time visiting family. It says 4 stars but it really isn't. The lobby looks good with grand piano and open fire, looks impressive. However, the room I was in on ground floor, no view, a brick wall and some service entrance. Big windows, rather dirty and no privacy, workers coming and going outside they could see straight into my room! Maybe a privacy blind?
Beds were comfortable, although mine had a noisy spring. Plenty of room and a sofa for comfort.
Carpet was stained by the bed, a spill of some kind.Also a stain on the chair seat.
Big chip out of bottom of bathroom door and rust around bath taps. Bathroom sink cracked. So I didn't consider it 4 stars.
Parking is charged per night at £12:00! I was absolutely appalled! I think this should be more publicised before booking. It's in terms and conditions but I wasn't aware until I got there.
Didn't have dinner there couldn't afford it after paying £48 for parking.
Breakfast was the usual continental and hot buffet style.Nothing special, very hard bacon and sausages, I couldn't cut through them, not impressed. No one around to tell me where to sit. In fact the only member of staff who spoke to me was a lady housekeeper called aimee, very nice lady.
It wants to be posh but it isn't. I have photos but they won't load. was disappointed and won't say there again. Holiday Inn is so much nicer.

There is a £12 parking charge at the property. In 25 YEARS of frequently staying at hotels for work, I have NEVER paid for for parking as a resident. English Breakfast was warmish & sausages tasteless. Flat white coffee was all froth & cool.

Bedroom was spacious & there was a sofa. Carpet stained. Z cars was on TV. Odd bathroom configuration, apparently convenient sink separate from loo & bath/shower was confounded by a door that was difficult to close if you were stood by the loo which was just inside the door, you had to step around the door to close it.

Average & somewhat disappointing- we won’t return unless desperate.

Really good hotel, great facilities including the pool and Spa. Staff were exceptional. The room itself was lovely, very comfortable, we had a family room with a shower for accessibility for my disabled wife and the rooms were really quiet. No banging doors all night !!!! Worth noting g that you gave to pay for parking, but the rates are fair. Location is very convenient and you cannot hear the motorway! A really great place go stay and woukd happily do so again.

Good hotel but marred by insect bites

We stayed here about a year ago and we all thought the hotel was slightly worn this time around. However, staff were helpful if not always in evidence. Food was good in restaurant and bar. However, I personally had an issue with insect bites. We stayed Wednesday to Friday. On Thursday I stayed in the hotel until late afternoon and had lunch in the bar. After lunch I went back to the room and almost immediately was bitten on my leg although wearing thick jeans. I spoke with the housekeeping staff who thought it was a ‘mosquito’ bite. But they insisted they hadn’t experienced any issues in the hotel. We dined in the hotel restaurant and then went back to our rooms. On Friday morning I had another 20 or so bites. I discussed with the receptionists at checkout and they apologised! They also provided me with an email address so I could email the hotel. At that time I thought they perhaps should deep clean our room. However, I emailed at around midday on Friday and 24 hours later have not received a reply. I was the only person in our group affected.

The hotel was cold including our room. There was dust on the lamps and mirrors in our room. £50 taken from my card rather than put a hold on it as i was informed.
The pool was absolutely freezing and everyone was saying the same thing, i complained and nothing done.
No spare pillows in he room and no suitcase rack in room

Its not even close to being 4 star in my opinion oh and no lift to 1st floor

Pretty poor to be honest for a really good hotel and company we espected more. The dinner was lovely we had room service. But we had not much sleep there was a lot of noise in the corridor until 2am because of parties. Why we was put there near them is a joke. We have 3 kids who all needed sleep but that is what we didnt get. Not happy one bit. The breakfast was average and the staff were not helpful at all. They were just standing around chatting. We have stayed in better hotels for cheaper and much nicer. Sorry not worth the money.
