Staff were excellent. Sadly let down by the room. Specifically on the rear side of the hotel (facing the main road). Large vents to let in cool freezing air which made the room cold and a small, ineffective electric heater in tge room. Used hairdryer to heat up. Also, lack of space in ensuite to put clean clothes, so placed these on floor... only to find fluff and dust on the clothing once on. Noise of road traffic was DOMINANT throughout the night. Im sure the car park side of the building would be better. Staff were very accommodating

3 disable parking spaces all full for cars with no blue badages. Told reception and they said they would have them moved, on my return after 3 hours the same 3 cars park in them. As a disabled war veteran with 30 years servers in the Royal Navy. This is the worst experience iv have. I through the best western hotel in Weymouth was bad which i stayed in a few months ago, but this place was disgusting.
I will no be staying in a best western again and i will be spreading the word across the military net work.. extremely disappointed 😞

Sofa bed was not made up, when I asked reception she was polite but said they don’t do that. The duvet was scrunched up on a shelf with a dirty cover on. The receptionist did bring new clean one to my room. The hotel room was comfortable and clean and I always appreciate having plenty of tea, coffee and milk. However, it was a very hot stay! The cleaning staff had left the window and curtains open on one of the hottest days and so it was like an oven in the room. The only air-con is in the lobby & there was a fan but all it did was move hot air around. I couldn't leave the window open at night because of its proximity to the main road. Regrettably not a great stay.

I was really impressed by this hotel, it was only really a bed for a night so I had low expectations but I was absolutely happy with how clean and comfy the room was. I wasn’t expecting a bar either or the secure free parking so this was all a nice surprise. Will definitely be using this hotel again.

The staff were very helpful and friendly but were missing from front desk quite often and for extended periods so we had to wait to get issues resolved. It is in a convenient location, near several places to eat but it's not easy to walk into Pontypool as the main route is a dual carriageway. We had a room for three and my daughter said the pull out sofabed was very uncomfortable, it did appear to be collapsing. I'd stay again as a couple though.

Friendly staff. Quiet for a hotel, bar the door into the lobby which seemed to slam with some people coming in. Any issue resolved quickly. Couldn’t get hot water to the basin, but in the end figured you turn the mixer tap to the left and on fully for a few minutes or had to use a glass from the bath tap. Bath tap seemed to have oil in as bath was getting a ring of black when filling it. But overall good budget hotel, basic amenities, but close to eateries including KFC, McDonalds and Harvester. Breakfast was alright and convenient. Just off the main roads so good to get to Newport and Cardiff etc.
