The hotel was very basic- which was to be expected- but on arrival (21:00) there were a robust group of men drinking tin beers in the lobby area- it smelt of body odour and stale alcohol. Whilst the receptionist was pleasant and allowed us to have our two caching with us for free (instead of charging us £5 per dog). The room was ‘fine’- no frills but that’s okay- we only needed it to rest after our journey. The trouble started when the fire alarm went off at 23:00-ish. We hurtled out of bed , dogs barking- but it went off. We settled back to sleep thinking it must have been a one off and it can just happen- but it kept happening throughout the night- disrupting and ruining our Christmas Eve. I eventually couldn’t take it any longer and went down to the reception who was already arguing with other guests saying it was an electrical fault- but we could see and smell smoke coming from the breakfast oven in the lobby- clearly the drunken guests and reception staff who had been with them had burnt something and were being irresponsible. It didn’t happen again after 01:00am and I asked for a full refund in the morning when we checked out at 8:30am- god awful experience. Avoid at all costs.

My Breakfast was not taken at Ibis Budget. But it is usually good continental. The warm was really warm and my wet clothes dried easily.The bed was comfortable . The wifi good speed and the TV had BBC 1.

On arrival our room had a broken flush on the toilet, excrement on the toilet seat and hairs on the bed. It was 10pm when we arrived. My son was tired and upset. We were moved to another room, thankfully not unpacked. The toilet in this room stank of drains, and then floor under the beds had dirt and crumbs on it. No hand towel, just bath towel. Breakfast was tasty, and beds were comfy,,although my son’s mattress protector had a stain on it, so he removed it.

I understand that the hotel is right next to the M4 motorway but the road noise was pretty intrusive. I could also hear the lift ping when it arrived on my floor (my room was next to the lift). I tried using ear plugs that I often take away in trips but I could still hear the road noise.

This is very much a budget hotel: you can tell because there are no carpets or mats next to the beds to brush your feet off when you climb in bed, you get one towel each (no hand-towel), there is a little plastic stool in front of the small desk but no chairs and no luggage rack for your bag. The shower has gel but no creams, there is a heater but no air-con, the usb ports do not work, you get a single pillow each. On the plus side the beds are clean and there are fancy down-lighters. But our biggest beef was the hot water which failed totally by the morning: no showering. At least we were offered free b/fast as compensation (not English, continental only but not bad). And the staff were friendly and trying their best. Well, it is called a budget hotel....

Spotlessly clean. You’d want to be a dwarf to sit on toilet. It’s a wall mounted toilet which is way too low. Mattress on bed was comfortable Except!!!!! There’s like a rubber sheet or something on it which makes you sweat like mad. BUDGET it definitely is but sorry not for older people. Staff were lovely they did offer to change rooms for us but I was already in the bed.

Really excellent budget hotel

The room was clean, comfortable and very well designed. Only two very mild criticism. You had to put the card in \"head first\" to open the door but a member of staff appeared as if by magic to let me in.
Secondly I brought my own kettle because you said you didn't provide one but I'm fact a kettle was there

Friendly welcome. Room was clean but bedside shelves were missing on both beds, had to use plastic stool as a table or the floor.
Breakfast was plentiful and all you can eat buffet from a selection of cold choices. Croissant, toast, pastries, toast, jam, cheese ham, yoghurt, cereals and fruit.
Car park once again full of commercial vans even though there is a sign that they should use other car park area.
I've stayed a few times and it's always the same, arrive after 6 and have to park up near church. Dark and alone with luggage is not good. That's my only gripe and I don't think it will change.

Its a budget, basic hotel that serves a purpose for convenience for me.
Good comfortable beds. Basic rooms. You get what you pay for. But lovely friendly staff.

Very full car park, lot of contractor vans, I'm a woman on my own and had quite a dark walk to entrance with luggage.
Receptionist very friendly and helpful. On entering room there was a strange musty drainage smell. Basic room with plastic stool(very uncomfortable) Bed linen very clean and bed comfortable. However it was quite warm in the room and the aircon had been switched to heating mode as it's October. Being on top of a very busy motorway, it's quite, in fact very noisy to have the window open. So I had an uncomfortable night. I did ask for a fan the following day and it was then no problem.
Also I had a problem connecting to WiFi, don't know why maybe it was my fault, just kept saying can't connect.
Breakfast continental, ham, cheese, yoghurt,,croissants, plenty there to help yourself. But pay separately.
Its convenient for me as family live nearby, it's budget, caters mainly to contractors through the week. I wish it was a bit more comfortable.

The accommodation was basic but clean. The staff were very helpful. The receptionist gave me a downstairs room because I'd just had a knee treatment. Only downsides were the lack of toilet paper, only a bit of a roll was left and no spares. Also, it was a wet room and the water didn't drain away. It ended up by the toilet and the door and I was paddling in it.

Excellent value and Immaculate

I stayed for 2 nights for a convention at the ICC in August 2025. The location was really convenient - just a 5 minute drive on the M4 and was excellent value.
Free on site parking when I arrived.
Staff were very helpful and friendly. Extra tea and coffee provided as soon as I asked etc.
My room was small but had everything I needed and it was absolutely immaculate.
I was very impressed overall and would definitely stay here again.

This is definitely a BUDGET hotel ! It's true that you get what you pay for, so do not expect too much. I've stayed in several Ibis hotels before, admittedly in France, but I won't be staying in this one again. Staff are great though.

It’s extremely basic, but that’s what you pay for. It’s very clean, compact, they provide you with shower gel and shampoo which I thought was good. Beds were very clean and comfortable. It’s very loud next to a motorway. Staff are friendly. Shower had good water pressure, towels nice and fresh.

Housekeeping is a let down

Overall ok, but the cleaning/housekeeping leaves alot to be desired. Bedding wasnt freshened up, left with no toilet roll midweek, floor wasn't swept once and tea & coffee wasnt restocked from 2nd day

Great welcome, room as expected for price, comfortable bed. This is a good choice hotel for those arriving into Wales and heading further West the next day. I was surprised at the choice for breakfast which included fresh bread, fruit compote and yoghurts not to mention a decent coffee machine. I noticed that someone is looking after the plants in the eating area which is always a nice thing to see and inspires confidence that you are staying in a worthwhile place.

Ome of the worst hotels I have stayed, very tiny rooms fkr the amount tou pay, paid about £75.
To top this, they insult you with their breakfast, just cereals and toast, call this continental, no fried eggs or sausages etc. Charge you £8.50

The modern room was comfortable and clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I slept well, not disturbed by any other guests.
The biggest win for me was the fantastic value for money which meant I could afford a 5 night stay. Buses into the city were frequent though I could walk to town centre in 15-20 minutes.

First try at an IBIS. Was very run down, door cards stopped working and this is a common issue, the machine to attach a key card to a room number and spare cards are left on the desk and night staff sat out the back so this didn’t give me great confidence. Cleaners do a fantastic job, can’t be easy when it needs a complete overhaul. Staff helpful and polite
