It was very nice with the balcony that showed a nice view. The only issue I had was i couldn’t figure out how to control the heating, but i called and they tryed to help me. I didnt quite understand how to work it but overall it was amazing!!!

Excellent location, and nice interior design of the room and public spaces. Walking distance to major tourist attractions. Plenty of dining options in the area. Contactless check-in and check-out worked well. The balcony is very pleasant, and facing historical buildings.

The shower seems to have limited amounts of hot water, barely sustained for one person’s shower. You’ll have to wait for a while for the warm water to be ready again.

We loved the location of The Numa Roca , situated right next to underground which was very easy to navigate . The bed was very comfy, the air con was good & it was quiet at night . We loved the little balcony & had our breakfast box on their each morning , There were surprise pastries every morning , a nice sandwich Orange juice , fruit , biscuits & a yoghurt . Very good value & a really nice touch . Only negatives was the hanging space was tiny and only a couple of feet off ground ! The full length mirror was situated in the darkest part of room & would have been better placed next to window wall . Shower fine ! On the whole all good!

Great location, quiet but still close enough to the action if you want to eat out or shop. Was also near the metro. Place itself was beautiful - comfy bed, nice patio, and even stained glass windows for that extra touch of heaven. Just what you need for a holiday in Barcelona.

had a really good stay here and would happily recommend it. Great value for money and the location was spot on – easy to get around with good transport links, but also close enough to walk everywhere. There are plenty of restaurants and cafés nearby, plus a supermarket right on the same street which was super handy.

The place itself was clean and comfortable, and I was lucky enough to have a balcony which was lovely to sit out on. The area felt quiet and safe, so nice for relaxing.

Big shoutout to the company too – when my air-con stopped working I sent them a quick text and it was sorted really fast, which I really appreciated.

If you stay, definitely check out a café called Lato nearby – great spot for breakfast. Overall, I’d definitely stay here again if I came back to the area.

Great location! Two minute walk to the metro, nine minute walk to Casa Batllo, 17 minute walk to Sagrada Familia. I absolutely love the area and the street is perfect. Do NOT like housekeeping is only done every 7 days. I asked for a blanket and was told the room already had a duvet. So I asked for a blanket again after explaining that the duvet is very thin. It took two days to get. You have to empty your own trash cans, and you must go to another one of their properties down the street to do so. If you need more towels or toilet paper. You also have to go to the building down the street and get it yourself. The walls are very thin, so if you’re a light sleeper, you might have trouble sleeping. Overall, it’s a great location, but not the best service.

The code system was great, so easy. I had everything I needed, and fbe neighborhood was super convenient. The ambience of the common areas was so smooth, so welcoming. The cleaning woman was lovely, friendly, each time I bumped in to her. The rooms were gorgeous. The one little thing I wish was that it was possible to keep windows open or sit out back getting mosquitos biting me. That was disappointing. Why no window screens? Or those burning coil things? But really, it was wonderful.

Great area. Apartment in historic building. Comfy bed, clean bathroom with good shower. Beautiful vintage decor in the common area.
There is no lobby or reception. Self check-in/ checkout.
Communication through SMS or Watsup. It took forever to get answers to our texts. But eventually all issues were resolved, questions answered. I wish communication would be more efficient.

This was a great place to stay! It's on a quiet, pedestrian street so there was little noise. It was centrally located, and we walked everywhere. The management was great, all codes, etc. were delivered in a timely manner and the instructions were easy to understand. The room had everything we needed and our stay was seamless. I'd definitely stay here/recommend to others.

Nice rooms but...

Overall l had a nice stay apart from a hotel staff member entering my room (apparently instead of the room next door) and without knocking. I had a fright, I was in bed and they walked in then walked out without saying anything when they realised I was there. I contacted them via the WhatsApp group because I didn’t know who it was. Obviously thinking it was another hotel guest. They apologised saying they were supposed to enter the room next door but they should knock before entering and they didn’t.

Wonderful gem !

Wonderful hotel !
The staff is really friendly.
Room is spacious and furnished with real antiques from 50-70's (except bed).
All the fixtures and fittings are modern and of very high quality.
And modern comfort too: great wifi, Apple TV, espresso machine etc.
The cleaning was spotless.
And the buffet breakfast a real treat.
I wish my stay was longer and will definitely stay again when I visit Barcelona.

Memorable stay at the fun and quirky Retrome

We loved Retrome! It’s a really fun, charming, quirky hotel full of personality. The staff were super helpful and friendly, and we appreciated the common space with coffee, fridge, etc. Gorgeous building, cool furnishings, clean and spacious room, adjacent outdoor space — we loved it all. Excellent hotel, lovely quirky retro theme. Staff so friendly and helpful. Great buffet breakfast. We had an apartment room for 3 of us, which had small kitchen area. Great size room and comfortable. Brilliant location for metro, and walking to lots of the ‘hot spots’ is easy, about 15 minutes to sagrada familia in one direction and cathedral in the other.

A wonderful stay in Barcelona!

My mother and I stayed in Retrome for 3 nights B&B and we loved every minute of it. The staff were very welcoming on our arrival and were very helpful with our checkin. The room was spotless and very comfortable. The continental breakfast was great - fresh fruit, cereal, meats, cheese, bread and juice. The hotel is a 15-20 minute walk from Sagrada Família, and a 15 minute walk to Plaça de Catalunya. The metro system is very easy. The staff at the hotel recommended for us to get a T10 ticket for the metro which made travel easy and fast as there is a metro stop right next to the hotel. We would recommend this hotel to couples or small families. We will definitely be staying here again!

This hotel is just 1 min walk from the L4 metro line Girona station and has many restaurants and grocery stores nearby. The common area of this hotel has interesting design.The staffs were very friendly, helpful and responsive in fulfilling guest's requests. This is a nice hotel for short stay.A different type of period hotel.The staff are very kind and friendly.My stay was pleasant, the studio is so nice and loved the balcony.There is a espresso maker and enough dishes in the kitchen.Cleanly maintained.They allowed me to checkin midnight.Had a staff waiting to check me in.The only problem was not having enough wardrobe or shelves to hold clothes especially if you are travelling with kids and need some extra space.Otherwise, the location is perfect, downloaded the viggo app and was able to communicate with the staff easily.They promptly responded to any issues.The cafe is next door.I won't say there were many breakfast options and was the same thing everyday.However, we were happy to just eat something and leave for our site seeing.A wonderful and memorable stay.

Conveniently located hotel right in El Ensanche in Barcelona. Underground on the corner, many restaurants and shops nearby. Friendly and helpful staff specially Liisi and the great Irish lady. Practical and comfortable rooms with a small balcony overlooking Girona street. I had some issues with the hot water system. WiFi didn’t work well at all. Shower screen leaked and wet the floor. Liisi tried really hard to accommodate all my needs. The Irish lady very helpful, friendly, talkative and kind. Somehow it felt like my little homely retreat for my stay in Barcelona.

The hotel was very quaint and the service was wonderful. The room was small, but clean and comfortable. Unfortunately the hotels.com website indicated that the hotel served a complementary breakfast and provided shuttle service to the airport; however, when we arrived we were informed that the complementary breakfast was only provided if we booked 3 nights (we only booked 2) and the shuttle service to the airport was not provided, but that the hotel would arrange a taxi for us. These two factors were disappointing because it was because of these two factors that we chose to stay at this hotel. This did not appear to be a problem with the hotel, but instead appeared to be a problem with the hotels.com website .

Charming and Chique Retreat

I could not say enough about our time at Retrome! The staff members were absolutely amazing in assuring that we knew our way around the area, always had a full pint as we sat in the small bar downstairs and stayed safe during a bit of a tumultuous time in the city. The space embodied a local feel, while providing the amenites many would associate with an upscale chain of hotels, with the added benefit of personalization and friendliness.

We would absolutely stay again and recommend the space to family and friends!

The staff at Retrome goes above & beyond to make you comfy. You get to store luggage two or three days before you check in, get free drinks, choice of music, great food prices & selection, steps from subway, and submerge I to a funky, safe neighborhood very near major sightseeing venues. We were very pleased with thus value.

Retrome Barcelona was a nice hotel. The staff will welcome you and go over the major spots in Barcelona and how to get there. The hotel itself is beside Retrome cafe. The only thing is that they do not have a 24 hour reception. The room was really nice and clean. You also have a balcony where you can enjoy an illy espresso on the house. Overall, i love this hotel and i will definitely stay here again when i come back to Barcelona!

I came as a solo traveler and was treated with the sincerest care and guidance. The hotel staff is super friendly, always helpful with a smiley disposition. The hotel is historic home converted into boutique hotel suites , ideal for the designer or decorator that appreciates Catalan modern design. Location is central to all the must see's, the metro is around the corner. Highly recommended!!!

Nice urban retreat

The hotel is nicely located in the Exaimple district, in close proximity from the old part of Barcelona and from the Sagrada Familia, and yet is away from the touristic crowds. There are numerous restaurants nearby. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Our room was comfortable and we enjoyed its modern decoration.

Good location, but not worth the money

Retrome is too expensive for what you get; you are essentially just paying to be close to La Pedrera and other tourist sites. The wifi is good and the little patio area was a nice touch, but it is in need of some repair and just felt like it wasn't worth the amount of money we paid to stay there. Public transit is so good in Barcelona that it's better to stay a bit further (even just a few blocks), pay less, and take the bus or metro to tourist sites. All that being said, the service was really terrific; reception helped us book train tickets and check-in was simple.

Quirky and convenient.

Quirky 60's retro decor and bags of space including small kitchen and balcony. Very comfortable and a nice retreat after the sight seeing. Central location means you can easily walk to the Sagrada Familia, Las Ramblas and the old town. Staff were friendly and helpful and I would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

This is really nice hotel apartment. The staff are helpful and knowledgable. This is a great location if you know the area and have been to Barcelona before. Only negative was the wifi was poor and as I was there on business it was a real pain to do anything as due to be like old fashioned dial up. There is an offer for breakfast at 9 Euros 50 but just not worth it when you can get something more Spanish out for less. Rooms are Fantastic and the communial area is amazing. If you like Spanish football there is even the Real Madrid and then Barca football channnels to watch.

Awesome Downtown Location

The staff was extremely helpful from the moment arrived to the morning I left. They gave me more than enough information to enjoy my stay while observing my right to privacy at all times. Even though each day was packed with activities, I really liked how beautifully the hotel was designed and decorated in retro-style and how incredibly clean my room was. I will definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants a reasonable but beautiful local location to stay in Barcelona!

Very interesting and cosy hotel. The rooms are distributed across two buildings and they have an amazing retro decoration. Everything was so clean and set up with care. The location is perfect, nice neighborhood full of services and next to the subway station.

The main drawback of this hotel is the lack of a proper communication channel with the lobby. There are no phones and the reception is not available after 10pm. There is a mobile app that you can use for that but it doesn't have an easy setup.

Cleaning was only before 2pm. Something to think about if you want to wake up late.

Overall it's a very different and cosy hotel in a great area.

My wife and I stayed in this hotel in the suite for 3 nights and we enjoyed our stay. It has very friendly and helpful staff. Conveniently located - 3-5 min walk to metro station and 10-15 min to a couple attractions. The room is quiet and clean, and has a kitchen. I enjoyed the espresso made from the coffee machine every morning.

We were made to feel welcome and the staff were very helpful, with tea and coffee made on arrival. Access to rooms was 15:00 but we were able to have access to our room sooner. They gave us a map and told us the best places to visit and good places to eat. The room was clean and comfortable with a powerful shower. The balcony was an added bonus.The room had tea and coffee making facilities a Smart TV and there was free WiFi. The hotel is in two parts with one section two doors down from reception which is where our room was located.
Overall this was a lovely hotel with a retro feel. It was nice to pop across the road for breakfast in a local cafe that the hotel had a deal with, so you could buy as many or as few breakfasts as you wanted. If We go to Barcelona again I would certainly use this hotel.

Felt like I was visiting an old friend

Budget hotel, yes, kinda felt like an upgraded hostel. Super hip, yes, retro decor everywhere. Overall great time. clean, across the street from the metro, within walking distance of everything. Awesome restaurant across the street. My only negative is the bed, super stiff, and the temperature of the room. Hot for me with no way to cool it other then opening the window, which due to the fact the hotel is on a busy street was not an option if I wanted to sleep. Staff did provide me with a fan to help this situation though. Welcome glass of cava upon arrival and free use of the espresso machine. Definitely would stay again.

Great small B&B with great location

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights to visit Barcelona for the first time. Reception was very friendly and welcoming. Our room was facing street in the separate building. Room is very clean and small but had very comfortable firm foam bed. I liked it better than my top brand foam bed at home. Location is perfect to get around the city, 2 min walk to Metro and 10 min walk to train station. This is where locals live and there are plenty restaurants and cafes nearby. AC did not have a lot of power to cool and opening window is faster but can be noisy from small street below. I like the area very much with fewer tourists and would use it again for our return trip in Barcelona.

Not a hotel--operates in apartment buildings

This \"hotel\" was not as advertised--it is not a hotel at all but more like a pensione, operating on several floors of two different apartment buildings on the same block, not in its own building. It looks like they converted entire floors of what were apartments into hotel rooms/suites. Only one building has a reception area with receptionist; ours had a small common sitting area/foyer after entering from the outside hallway. Our suite was comfortable enough, had a decent bathroom, small patio and \"kitchen\" (small frig, sink, dishes/silverware, but no way warm food) but the \"smart TV\" didn't really offer anything except TV. There was an apartment above us with a noisy child, bouncing something heavy on the floor. The location was quite convenient, as advertised. Very light breakfast offered at cafe across the street.

Great hotel - unhelpful management

The hotel in itself is great, a beautifully decorated treasure in a nice area.The metro is just around the corner & many famous places within walking distance. We stayed 6 days in a suite which had a big bed, a terrace & the room was very fresh & clean. Reception felt like someone's apartment which gave a genuine feeling.
However, during our stay there was construction work in the groundfloor situated below our room with walls being torn down, drilling & hammering from early morning until evening. This was ofc out of the hotel's hands (the groundfloor isn't owned by the hotel) but this was annoying to us & we got no sleep-in-mornings or siesta during our longed-for vacation & we couldn't use the terrace as we wanted as it was covered in dust from the construction, & a construction worker constantly passing by our terrace. We received no info this was going on, not in the emails we got before our arrival, no info straight to our faces upon arrival & when we went to the staff about it they were clearly aware of this & they hadn't said a word about it. Staff was careless about the situation, compensation we got was cava & not very good breakfast. We asked about changing hotel & they wouldn't let us go without paying for 2 nights. We felt very cheated, honestly they shouldn't rent out the room when they know this is going on. A notice before our arrival would've helped alot. All in all a great beautiful hotel great area but don't expect any help from the staff in case of trouble

Great hotel with a very individual character, not formulaic. This hotel will make you feel like a local. Bed very comfortable, bathrooms very modern, and so nice to be able to open a window. Great coffee machine to help yourself. Lots of bars and restaurants in the area, never had a bad meal. An easy walk into the Gothic quarter.

Good place to go everywhere on foot and nice staff

We stayed for 4days in Barcelona, the hotel was just perfect for us. We could go everywhere on foot, even it was very close to go to subway station. The staffs are very kind and nice. I am going to stay in the furture if I am goint to Spain again.

Funky little oasis in bustling Barcelona

We loved our 2-night stay at Retrome. It was interesting, quirky, entertaining and has such a lovely feel about it. It's comfortable and welcoming and provdes an oasis of calm away from the bustle of Barcelona. We especially loved the illy coffee machine in our room. Great attention to detail and love, love, love what they're doing to preserve the historic features of their buildings while adding their own particluar flair and perspective to the interiors. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Second time in the hotel

I loved my time with this staff. For the staff alone, I want to come back. Still haven't convinced myself that I love the bedding accommodations (aloe Vera modern style) though I think extra pillows would have singularly made the experience better. This is only though in hindsight of course.

So cool, retro, and unique. Never have I stayed in such a place that you just want to tell people about!

Comfortable home away from home

Had a wonderful stay in this cool retro designed space. Not quite a hotel, and much more comfortable, safe and sheik than a hostel. It offers the community of a hostel with a comfortable sitting room and high end appliances with the privacy and comforts of a hotel.

Will surely return to see the ladies next time I'm in town!

Quirky hotel in a great location

The hotel is in a great location near girona underground station and only 10 minutes walk to sagrada familia. The room was basic but clean and tidy upon arrival with a very comfortable bed. We were greater upon arrival by a fantastic receptionist who showed us around and recommended places to visit etc. There is a free coffee machine in reception and some quirky retro facilities. I would go back and I would recommend to others

A Jewel in the Middle of Everything!

We LOVED the Retrome Barcelona from the moment we stepped in the door. We were warmly welcomed by Cora (all of the staff were friendly and very helpful) upon arrival, provided local info for a brief tour of the neighborhood & were able to leave our luggage in a safe spot until checkin. The hotel is furnished in vintage coolness from top to bottom, from the reception area to every room done up in unique, interesting decor. Ours was an apartment in a separate building a couple of doors down from the main hotel. It was spacious & comfortable for the 3 of us (1 adult/2 teens) w/ a queen size bed (very comfy) & a double sofa bed. There was a compact yet functional kitchenette we didn't use (we ate all of our meals out) but if you were so inclined, you could do some basic meal prep. The bathroom was a dramatic black & white (very cool), a decent size with a great shower. The only slight drawback is that the water could have been a couple of degrees warmer. There was a large, inviting patio on the courtyard side of the building, quiet & relaxing. Since it was rainy for most of our stay we didn't use it as much as we would have otherwise. But in nice weather it would be a fabulous place to relax with a glass of wine after a busy day of exploring the city. Last but not least is that the Retrome is in an absolutely perfect location. Half a block from the nearest metro stop & about 10 min. walk to one of the busiest avenues in the city for shopping, sightseeing & restaurants.

Very nice hotel, even better staff!

The hotel was very nice and in a great location. The staff were the best hotel staff I have ever had! Everything in the hotel was perfect with exception to the lack of hot water in the shower. The hot water only lasted for a little bit which would have been fine if there weren't two of us there. There was only enough hot water for one two minute shower. Still, this is a very minor issue and the staff and overall excellence of the hotel more than make up for it!

The apartments were quite comfortable and attractive. Fully equipped kitchen! Excellent wifi connection, very helpful staff. Very convenient access to the Metro. The only issue we had was with hot water in showers. For 4 people, the last one will take a cold one but we worked around it.

A quirky hotel in a great location

We stayed 5 nights at the Retrome. From there we walked to all the sights that we wanted to see. It's 10 minutes walk from the Sagrada Familia, the same from La Pedrera and Casa Battló, and 20 minutes from the centre of the Gothic Quarter and the seafront. We walked everywhere we wanted to visit, including Park Güell and the Miró Museum. We didn't have breakfast in the hotel, as there are cafés and patisseries on just about every street corner. For a coffee and a pastry for two people, we paid €3.85! And it was good too.

When we wanted advice on visits, or tickets printed out, the staff were wonderful. They wanted us to have a good time in their city.

Quirky in a Good Way

Our taxi driver didn't know the hotel by name and needed the address. It's just a wooden door with a buzzer in a residential building. Up one flight of stairs, or an elevator ride, there's a lobby decorated like 1950, and a friendly reception from the manager. I had a much-needed espresso, on the house. They stored our luggage until check-in time and gave us help with our plans.

The manager was not there when we returned, but she returned shortly from attending to another guest. Check-in was swift and personal. The have a relationship with a nearby restaurant, but we had other plans. The rooms are spread over at least two buildings with access by key-card.

With a helpful email before we arrived with advice on transport from the airport to the hotel.
The Staff were very calm and friendly and kept our bags until our room was ready (we arrived at 9.30am, rooms are ready at 2pm). The style of the hotel is great with retro stuff around but not over done. The room was large and the bed very comfy. We had a balcony over the street to watch the comings and goings of local life. Once you get your bearings it is easy to walk to the sites or get the metro which is very close. Thoroughly recommend this Hotel.

Rocking retrome

We loved this hotel. Loved the simple retro feel. The beds were great and good coffee to hand in the room (although could have done with a few more capsules!-) even though we turned up at 1am we were greeted with a smile and full of care. To paraphrase Arnie.....we'll be back!!!!

With 35 celsius degrees in Barcelona i stay for a night and the ac just not work, when we arrived receptionist told us that later that day somebody will come to sork it out, when we return to the room the ac didnt work yet and the night with Barcelonas heat was a nightmare.

Charming stay in Barcelona

We enjoyed our stay. We decided to upgrade to the room with a balcony. I loved the huge window that opened to our courtyard patio. I enjoyed some time laying out in the sun there. The room was clean. The staff were very helpful with recommendations about things to do, restaurants to eat at, maps, tips to save money, etc. They had free water (which was much appreciated in the heat), tea and coffee in the shared kitchenette area. Also two free drinks at their bar across the street. Our bathroom was very modern with a lovely rainfall shower head. There was also a smart tv in our room, which was incredible since all TV shows were in Spanish. We spent our downtime playing angry birds and streaming TV shows. I would definitely stay here again!

Great staff, location, room...everything!

We had a wonderful stay here! The room was just as beautiful and quirky as the pictures, and we had a great little view from our balcony. It was also nice to have a kitchenette fully stocked with a little fridge, stove, sink, utensils, plates, espresso machine, etc. The hotel itself is in more of a residential neighborhood, so it's quiet and also very centrally located- about 15 min. walk to La Sagrada Familia, and 15 min to La Rambla, and right by a metro stop. If you're looking for a place that is close to everything but not in the middle of all the tourist madness, this place is great!

When we arrived there was a woman there to greet us and show me a map and explain all the happenings in detail. She was also very kind to happily answer all my questions, give tips, and where to go in the neighborhood. One of the best things about staying here was that my birthday fell on one of the days, and a family member had had trouble trying to get a bottle of wine delivered for me. So they were so sweet to send up a bottle of local Cava for my birthday from the hotel staff. I would 100% recommend Retrome to anyone!
