Good things :The security of the door is good, the electrical system is very nice, it feels very comfortable, the temperature of the apartment is very comfortable.
Bad: The wall that separates bedroom from living room does not reach the ceiling there is no privacy, one area or the other is used. They cannot be used separately, the noise is very uncomfortable. In addition, it does not have a door between the areas, it is like a single area, it is uncomfortable if there are 2 or 3 people, separate areas cannot be used if someone cannot sleep without a door and with a low wall. The sofa bed is very dirty and it is very hard, very uncomfortable to sleep on. We had a bad experience of receiving only 2 rolls of toilet paper for 3 people 5 days. It's not enough. And there are instructions not to give more.

This place is basically a motel 6. The area is very very loud by traffic you have big rigs driving around the area at all time of the day and you only 40 50 feet fron the trucks. If you are paying around $50 its ok. Driving time to the angel de la inde around 45min.

only one thing to say about this place... STAY AWAYYY!!!!!

I wanted to take the risk of staying at this place even tho for the reviews , because the convenience price and for the location... SERIOUS MISTAKE! When I got to my room, to my surprise, there were many imperfections. The light in the closet did not work, the stove did not work as well, the window that faced the bedroom did not close 100 percent and the kitchen light was ON all the time, which meant that every night I had to remove the key to turn off the light so I could rest, but when I removed it, the entire apartment turned off, which meant that every night if I wanted to go to the bathroom I had to use my cell phone flashlight to see.

I reported the situation many times and they just ignored me. Another small detail cleaning service is not included. which seems outrageous to me. So I limited myself to cleaning the room when those services came included in the reservation... the same with the trash if you as a guest not pick it up, they will never do... Towels and toilet paper you have to ask downstairs to get them, if not, you will never have them.

Thanks to ENUE the security guy. beyond and above!

It’s a great hotel but it’s very loud if you’re looking for a quiet place to stay I don’t recommend it plus there’s a problem communicating with the property. The phone numbers are not the right ones overall it’s a nice place, but I will not recommend it for the communication.

Property is poorly kept. I have stayed here before and it’s declined. Balcony door knob broken, no lights in hallway so I can’t see stairs, body wash smells like floor cleaning soap, cooling unit heats and makes lots of noise. Light controls are only in central panel, no more tablet to manage them. If you need tissue or other there is no one to help you.

The property looked great overall. Our room had a portable air conditioner, but it only blew hot air which made the room incredibly hot. Outside was nice and cool at night, but the handle to our patio was broken off completely and we could not open it to allow cool air flow into our room. We contacted the lobby several times about it, but they did not fix it or move us to another room. They provided an extra fan, but sadly, it wasn’t enough to cook us down as the air in the room was hot. We stayed a week and it would’ve been nice if we weren’t constantly sweating while in our room.

Our stay was disappointing. There was no air conditioning, only cheap fans. The room was over 35°C, making it impossible to sleep. With the sliding door open, the street noise from traffic was unbearable. Despite claiming 24/7 response, we had to wait until the next day for any reply. I strongly advise finding accommodation elsewhere in the city with proper cooling. Additionally, our request for a partial refund was ignored by the owner.

The stay was nice until I wanted to extend my stay there. The property manager was so rude and forced and pushed me to move out when the new room was not ready for me to move in at all. He even threatened me on WhatsApp in all ways, including they had to enter my room. Unfortunately, I forgot his name but I think he is in charge of and manage all the rooms in different buildings. This horrible and awful experience gave me a lot of trauma. I can't believe that the manager can be so rude to customers who has been living there for 10 days and was going to extend for a long stay. Also, I have to mention, be ready for the noise by the street, the traffic is very busy and the noise can let you up all night. If you don't belive in me try some of their rooms by the street and you will know what I'm saying. It's not just the normal noise, I'm not sensitive with noise and sound at all, but I still can't stand it and can't sleep at all. Be careful when you book.

This place is under a new management and its bad.i was there 9 days and my towels were the same, cleaning lady said every 7days.. i never had clean towels called the main office, same thing. If you have company, they have to leave by 10 pm , if you go out , you must knock at the door to get in.. I won't be back , and its not cheap either.

This is the first property I’ve ever stayed at that charges you to use the in-room coffee maker.

Don’t fall prey like I did to their generous shelling of Nespresso pods only to receive a steeply upmarked bill upon checkout ($4 per pod).

In-room telephones connecting you to the front desk don’t work, nor their elevators’ room key sensors. Rooms don’t have light switches — illumination is controlled by an overly-complicated monitor that, again, you’re left to figure out on your own since the in-house phones don’t work.

The air conditioning unit was extremely noisy and only cooled off the room briefly every 30 minutes, blowing lukewarm air throughout the room.

Perhaps the only bright side to my stay was how warm and welcoming are the maintenance and front desk staff.

I have stayed at Stara, now owned by Capitalia, for many years for business. Note that the sign outside still remains to be Stara to avoid any confusion. All rooms are nice, we had the top floor and these two rooms are large and very nice. There used to be breakfast, lunch and Dinner served on the roof top patio. Breakfast included in the room fee and this made life easy instead of having to walk to the city center of San Angel which is about a 15 minute walk each way. The staff is always great, but missing amenities are in need of being addressed. Capitalia can't expect people to eat an overpriced snickers bar and an 11 dollar bottle of water for breakfast or dinner and be happy about it. If improvements are made, then I'd recommend this place, but I can tell you I will take my business elsewhere in the future if some thing as simple as food service cannot be addressed. 4 months ago at least they had a small kitchen downstairs that could cook a simple breakfast but that is now gone too. This is a disappointment as I have been staying here for almost 10 years for business and have spent tens of thousands of US dollars to stay here.

I stayed at Stara San Angel Inn for 4 nights with my partner, and we were absolutely floored with how stunning the suite we reserved was. The entire hotel was modernized, had smart controls for lighting in rooms in the form of an iPad, room entry was tap to enter, as was the elevator, and the service at the desk , house keeping, and restaurant were outstanding. We had an excellent balcony view into the patio area, which provided privacy from the main road outside the hotel. There was a convenience store, a fuel station, a bakery, a pharmacy all within a 10 minute walk from the hotel, so you never were left with the want for anything for a very long time. And the price couldn't be beat, this will absolutely be our go-to hotel whenever we visit Mexico city again.

Outstanding value for top tier boutique hotel

An outstanding value for an excellent boutique hotel. Everything is ultra modern, clean and comfortable. A roof-top terrace, restaurant, and library only sweeten the deal.

Two caveats: For whatever reason, many cabbies still don't use GPS to locate unfamiliar addresses, and you sometimes have to ask two or three before finding one who knows this hotel's location, even though the name of the street appears prominently off a major thoroughfare.

Second, the hotel is situated close enough to the major thoroughfare that street noise can be an issue. But hey, this is Mexico City, so noise comes with the territory. I recommend asking for room as far away from the street as may be available and packing ear plugs just in case. HTH.

The room is like a studio apartment, it's outfitted with kitchen pots and utensils, notably a water jug with glasses. It has room service which is convenient, but the food itself was hit or miss. The chocolate cake is amazing for example. I loved the fresh fruit and ingredients and the beautiful presentation but often the food would end up sticking to the plate or just tasting bland. Speaking of service, the cleaning staff ignored the Do Not Disturb sign, to the point where the front desk called and asked if I wanted the room cleaned, but they left me alone when I told them no.

New hotel with modern rooms that should have been great but its not:
- No Airconditioning in the rooms! Very hot...hotel says open sliders but noise from traffic is really loud. They brought a \"cooler\" to the room but it was just a fancy fan.
- Car service...when asking for them to call you a cab...they direct you to one of their workers with a car....five times the cost of cab and they do not mention the price before hand

Arrived at Hotel in the middle of the night, does not feel like a welcoming hotel for out of town guests. Surrounding area is dark and would not recommend to anyone. Decided to lose my fully paid reservation and stayed somewhere I felt SAFE and welcomed.
Room cleanliness and comfort could not be rated or verified because I got as far as lobby and felt scared off.

Very nice hotel and great service. The bed is a queen size platform bed and it is not too comfortable for two people used to sleeping on a king with a box spring. The only two chairs are very narrow. The chairs are very uncomfortable when trying to work at my computer. The food selection is limited.

Out of the way hotel but still marvelous

Location is out of the way in San Angel. We wanted to stay for a week in the south of the city so the location served our needs. Ironically, it's easier to catch a cab outside the hotel than it is downtown or in Polanco or Condesa.
Facilities are terrific, spacious and super-modern. Staff was amazingly helpful day and night. Rooftop terrace for excellent American breakfast daily.

The Staras is a beautiful, boutique hotel near Televisa and the periferico. Convenient to Coyoacan and the south of Mexico City. If you are looking to be in the Condesa or Roma area, this is not for you. Still it's close to Xochimilo, the UNAM, etc. Plenty of room and light. Terrace restaurant for breakfast.

Great hotel for accomodation but bad for Breakfast

Nice hotel...breakfast not served at 7 am as listed. I am on a business schedule and can't wait until 8 am for breakfast. Not sure why you would say 7 am. The café attached to hotel and says it is open until 10 pm but closed before 9 pm. Street noise very loud next to the hotel. Other than that the hotel is very clean.

Great stay!

There are not much options in the south part of the city and this apartments/hotel is superb! Located only 2 blocks from Periferico (main highway).
Rooms are clean, very spacious and comfortable. Service is amazing.
So new that all the lights are controlled from an ipad, which for me is what I didn't like that much, you have to go through too much trouble to turn the room light on at middle of the night! Other than that, best hotel in south part of Mexico if you like boutique hotels.

Para una noche la estancia fué buena. No había estacionamiento disponible en el alojamiento, la reserva no indicaba que habia que reservarlo o que había una hora límite para la llegada, afortunadamente me permitieron estacionarme junto a la puerta de entrada, con la condición de que si había qu emover el carro me avisarían...

Otro comentario es que no hay comunicación con la recepción, entonces para arreglar cualquier detalle hay que bajar a comentarlo, pues no se puede hacer desde la habitación.

Por último, aunque me gustó el apartamento, cuando yo busqué HOTELES en expedia, apareció el suyo, no indicaba que rea un airbnb, yo llegué pensando que era un hotel. Fué buen descubrimiento, pero no es lo que yo tenía pensado para una noche.

La experiencia estuvo muy por debajo de lo esperado para el precio que cobra este lugar. El personal fue siempre amable, pero no volvería a hospedarme aquí por la constante sensación de inseguridad.

El principal problema fue la cerradura eléctrica de la suite. Al hacer check-in no pude ingresar por fallas en la chapa y tardaron más de una hora en darme acceso. Después desarmaron la cerradura, lo que me impidió salir de la habitación. Al día siguiente volvió a fallar y no pude entrar nuevamente; para darme acceso, el personal de limpieza tuvo que pasar de un balcón a otro por fuera del edificio para abrir desde dentro, una situación extremadamente peligrosa. No tenían llave manual de respaldo y dependían totalmente de una cerradura eléctrica que falló varias veces.

El departamento tenía problemas de mantenimiento: no podía apagar las luces porque la consola estaba fuera de línea, la manija del balcón estaba rota y no se podía asegurar, y el balcón da directamente a la calle. Además, la habitación da a una vía con muchísimo tráfico; el ruido nocturno era constante y muy fuerte. Solo pude dormir gracias a que llevaba tapones para los oídos.

La cocina estaba mal equipada (utensilios sucios y un sartén muy maltratado) y durante los tres días de estancia no hubo limpieza. He estado en alojamientos mucho más baratos en mejores condiciones. El personal hizo lo posible por ayudar, pero las fallas en las instalaciones no justifican en absoluto el precio.

Expedia publica características falsas de los lugares , de especifica que el lugar tiene estacionamiento y me lo negaron , eso provocó que mi estancia cambiara por completo y me retire un día antes ! Pésimo expedía y pésimo lugar

La habitación en gral, muy bien. La cama cómoda y la limpieza muy bien. Como sugerencia, mejoraría la iluminación del baño, ya que es muy ténue y para maquillarse o verse bien es un problema.
