Beautiful hotel I’ve stayed few time with family and friends , love the hotel breakfast is great but this morning we had to leave very early to catch a flight so was unable to enjoy the beautiful breakfast and surroundings in the room . My friend and I absolutely loved our stay at this hostel! We are two female travellers and were in a 6-bed mixed dorm, which didn't go so well the very first night we were there. We got pretty unlucky with one of our bunkmates who was causing problems with another person in the room in the middle of the night and started getting very verbally aggressive, screaming and swearing nonstop at this person. As two females, in a room with all men while this was happening, we were extremely scared and were trying to stay quiet the whole night. We were ready to ask for a refund and just check out at this point, so we went to reception the next morning to ask if we could do this. Since we had booked on a third party website, the hostel wasn't actually able to provide a refund. They also could not move us to another fully female room because there was no availability. However, the way they took care of the situation was something we had not expected. They showed immediate concern and apologized a lot for the experience we had. They offered us breakfast on the house and said that because they could not move us to another room or provide a refund, they would remove the guy from our room who was causing issues, which was done by the time we got back from our day. They asked us periodically throughout the day and the next day if everything is okay now and the hospitality showed by the staff was beyond our expectations. We are super grateful for this and would definitely come back again :)

People who want to talk or eat after the bar closes have no where to go they just talk on the hall way or on the stairs while people are asleep some tend to eat in the room since there there is no lounge besides the bar. The food smells in the rooms which makes it hard for others to sleep. I had roommate who just game the whole time making noise and he said there is no where else to go. The managers should leave the bar lounge open to the tenants even after the bar closes so people can continue their activities at night downstairs and not in the rooms.

We had a lovely stay. Very cute and cozy. Great bar and restaurant downstairs. Nice warm showers. Toilets being on the top floor was a little bit annoying but not a huge deal. Private rooms could do with tea and coffee facilities.

no privacy curtains as pictured/described. which as a solo female in a room with 7 men, uncomfortable as anything. huge wads of chewing gum on wall just painted over. 1 sink to 4 (disgusting pee covered) toilets. where are you supposed to brush your teeth etc. toilets also on different floor to rooms. Make you pay deposit for key, but then don't pay it back as promised despite emailing to chase up.

First off, they do not have towels (even the ones you can rent from them). There was also no clear ventilation/ac system in the room, so the window was open the whole night and the temperature in the room fluctuated a lot. The front desk is not 24hours, so when we had to checkout at 9am (they were supposedly open) they were still closed and there was no proper checkout system. We also checked out a day earlier and no one bothered

Poorly service due to lack of the breakfast. Kitchen & bathroom were empty to all facilities due to loss of the fixtures to all.

This place smelled so terrible I couldn't even sit inside while booking a new hotel. I refused to stay here. The place feels nasty & looks poorly cared for. No staff will be there until after 2pm. A cleaning lady saw me wondering the halls & offered no help other than, Hey what do you need.

Well it wasn't horrible, the staff is super nice and they were really welcoming. The windows in the double bed room I was staying in with my boyfriend did not want to close. The showers didn't really work well, either too warm or too cold. The toilets were a little dirty and didn't have toilet paper. Beds were clean and comfortable and the room overall did serve it's purpose. Don't think I will be coming back again though but I do think it's a decent place to stay at if you aren't staying for long.

My stay was okay. The bedroom was well kitted out,WIFI was great but the bed was uncomfortable and hard on my back. There is no entertainment at night unless you go to the bar. Food was great. The staff helpful to a point.. It was better than the rest but still requires improvement since a toilet was leaking for days without repair. It would be better if the bathrooms and toilets were not mixed. Men have nasty habits that women don't need to know about. Requires a lift for when you have heavy luggage.

I did not like the fact that you could not shower without getting your clothes wet, our reservation was not found when we got there, the water in the showers was cold, I got some kind of virus infection from the sheets and covers. So no, I won't ever be using this place or any other hostel either. We had to change to a hotel after the first two nights.

This is a place where people will sleep in their clothes during the day, make a ton of noise in the night and the so-called \"Common Room\" held the same six people every evening and no room for more. The pub below it was over priced, ayed ear splitting music, was a hang out for locals with kids running around screaming and shouting, the arguments every night on the street outside it were distinctly audible I'm the dorms - gan not working, room hot and overcrowded and window wouldn't close anyway.

The key thing: Bedbugs. I came back first one evening, and switched on the light to see a bug crawling across my bed. I ended up crushing it, and had blood on my hand. Its appearance matched a engorged adult bed bug
The bad:Staff was less than helpful, probably not well enough paid. Room was tiny, with one florescent tube on the ceiling for light. One window, hidden behind one of the bunks. No ventilation. It wasn't 90 degrees and it was still hot and stuffy. There were four toilets on my floor, and four showers on the floor below. There were fifteen rooms with an average of six beds each. Everything was Coed. The common space was very small, with worn out chairs,a tiny microwave, and kettle. When I wanted to do some planning, it was so dirty I couldn't set anything down. The surfaces were grimy everywhere. In my room, I had a loose electrical outlet. It popped when I shifted it to plug in. The place felt like A fire trap. The plaster in the bathroom was falling apart, there was a sink door hanging by a single hinge, and a toilet hanging Loose. Depford is not a nice area. The high Street is functional, and safe during the day. But it's rough, and not pleasant.
The place needs to be fumagated. The spaces repaired, ventilation improved. It needs a larger and better equipped common space, a fridge and space for food at the least.

insects in my beds! They kind I know from Asia, never met them in Europe. The toilets are disgusting … the staff is unbelievably rude .... the cleaning person for instance is sweeping the floor among the guests in the public area while all along making mean and discriminating jokes about some of the guests … no wonder the place is dirty … can someone send in hygiene control, please! The internet is not working properly either.

Pretty clean hostel, a little ways from the road but close to the New Cross train station and a few buses. The area is cool with a lot of cheap food shops. Didn´t find it dangerous or have any problems at all- very friendly people. Only suggestions are a little improvement to the breakfast, maybe offer fruit or soy options for those who are lactose intolerant.... all make sure theres only one person per bed, there was a couple below me that made things really uncomfortable, and a diagram of where the bed letters are in the room! I came in very late and had a hard time finding my bed because I did not want to wake anyone. Staff is friendly, especially the girl from Lativa!

There Are Better Places Than This
The staff is wonderful, caring, and eager to please, but the actual rooms are more drabby than dirty, the mattress needs replacing, and -the strangest of all- once the owner collects your money and sends you off to your room, he doesn't want to see you hanging or relaxing in his pub/restaurant unless you're going to BUY something, it regardless of how much you spent the previous night or a few hours ago. It's obvious that the staff is uncomfortable with this rule and it's not like a horde of people are coming into this place to eat. Most hostels market to the groups they take in, turning their food/bev accommodations into something that might attract the existing clientele, but this group goes to the other extreme. There are plenty of other hostels in the area (and certainly closer to the City) to put up with this. I spent good money there but when I stopped to relax briefly I was kicked out and told to use the 'common room' upstairs (about an 8×8 room with kettle and microwave). It was so rude and...stupid.

To begin, it is not in a pleasant area, about an 8 minute walk from the nearest station (which is a DLR) and for two young girls, it definitely wasn't safe.
We had planned to stay three nights but after the first night, we left.
The one night we were there, the place was swarming with police who were actually arresting someone. As someone with anxiety, this upset me greatly so my friend asked one of the staff what was happening and all they said was 'this doesn't always happen.' (Although we found out that the same thing had happened a week before) And when he heard me say that I didn't want to be there, he said 'leave then, I'm not making you stay.' Well, considering that they wouldn't give us our money back, yeah, we felt forced to stay. I ended up having to shell out £160 to move to a Travelodge and the staff didn't care at all.
The room is also very loud and the night we did actually sleep here, we only got an hour sleep and the male we were sharing with had been touching my friend's feet.
Although lockers are provided, you have to buy a lock from them for £2.50 if you want to use them.
I would NEVER stay here again, nor recommend it to anyone.

The one night we were there, the place was swarming with police who were actually arresting someone. As someone with anxiety, this upset me greatly so my friend asked one of the staff what was happening and all they said was 'this doesn't always happen.' (Although we found out that the same thing had happened a week before) And when he heard me say that I didn't want to be there, he said 'leave then, I'm not making you stay.' Well, considering that they wouldn't give us our money back, yeah, we felt forced to stay. I ended up having to shell out £160 to move to a Travelodge and the staff didn't care at all.
The room is also very loud and the night we did actually sleep here, we only got an hour sleep and the male we were sharing with had been touching my friend's feet.
Although lockers are provided, you have to buy a lock from them for £2.50 if you want to use them.
I would NEVER stay here again, nor recommend it to anyone.

Is far away from London, so that means that you´ll spend quite some time and money going back and forth,. The neighborhood is not nice, actually is kind of creepy, and it doesn´t look very safe. The bar downstairs looks really nice. Part of the staff is really friendly and helpful but there is one guy who is actually rude and SO loud. The kitchen/common room was a former bedroom with tables, chairs and a microwave, that´s all. Not even comfortable to chill out. There were 4 toilettes on 2nd floor and 4 showers on the 1st, FOR THE ENTIRE HOSTEL. I do not recommend it, specially because you can find better hostels near the city (which means less money & time spent on transportation) for the same money or even cheaper!!!

A hostel above a pub might sound like chaos but Venture was a hostel first. The Pub winds down at time guests would head to bed and you don't hear it upstairs. Complimentary breakfast everyday in a hostel is unheard of and yet 7:30 to 9:00 each day there it is; cereals, toast, spreads and yoghurt even on weekends! Really convenient before you zip off for the day. Having the Royal Standard downstairs means access to fresh coffee relatively cheap (discount for guests), beverages like the three ciders and many lagers as well as a range of meals rather than preparing food yourself. Straight off the Deptford highstreet, there's supermarkets and convenience stores a well as takeaways. Docklands Light Railway station 2 streets away takes you to Bank in half an hour or Lewisham shopping centre in 5 minutes. Rooms are large with a locker available to each guest free of charge if you BYO lock otherwise pay to borrow. Laundry is the only challenge as access available for a few hours in morning. Comfy bed, clean linen and toilet and showers close but not on top or in rooms maintains comfort. A very pleasant hostel otherwise I wouldn't have stayed a fortnight.

Higher discounts should be applied for the people who live in the hostel. Showers are amazing. very large space to room in the shower cabin. Toilets are generally clean.

Hostel was interesting, it seemed like some people actually lived there. The hostel itself was very priceyes for what you got. Showers were actually stalls (co-ed), and the toilets were on a separate floor. No air-conditioning or air flow and I was afraid to turn the fan on because it was covered in dust. The only thing that made this location worth while was the bar located below and the staff which were very helpful. Transportation was very close, 5 min walk.

My time at venture Hostel has been great- friendly staff and great value for money- a quick trip on the overgroud train gets you straight to london bridge station and quickly into the city. The rooms have everything you need and are kept really clean. The bunks are a bit wobbly but nothing that kept me up at night. If I could suggest one thing- it would be great to have a communal fridge that you could put fresh/cold food in. Thank-you!

Disappointing experience
I spent 3 days in this hostel a year ago and I had a real good experience with it, that's why I chose it for the second time for my stay (for 3 days again). But it was disappointing. They closed the bar and we couldn't go there and we had to spend our breakfast in a tiny tiny room, which was also called the Community room. The chairs were disguisting to sit on and they gave us one tiny butter to the two slices of bread for breakfast and when I asked for another one, because it clearly wasn't enough, a really rude staff member was arguing with me, although I gave back my yogurt in exchange for a little more butter. It was insane. He even started shouting in front of everyone with a guest to finish his coffee, because others were waiting for a free space (I must say, no one was waiting, he was just simply rude). In my opinion, any service should make progress in time and not doing the opposite. I think I won't go there in the near future. And not to say that the downtown area is 50 minutes away from the hostel...

I had a pretty good stay at Venture Tanner's hill, however, the pub down stairs was undergoing a renovation and was therefore out of service. This also mean that the reception was crammed into a corner of a landing in the building. Because of this renovation the place felt a bit uncomfortable. But I understand why.
The rooms, toilets, and showers were cleaned every day! Which is incredible. I never felt like the place was dirty or unclean in anyway.
Overall I did have a good stay, and once the pub is finished down stairs I would happily return to stay again!

Great value for Money
I came for a 7 days course in London and I needed a place to stay at night. I think the hostel was perfect for my requirements: - A clean, nice place to sleep at night - Really good value for money - Nice breakfast - Toilets and bathroom always clean - Over ground is 5 min walking distance and bus stop 3 mins. I didn't like the fact that no clear description of bed types in rooms. For example, I booked for a room with 3 beds, but the actual thing was only triple bunk bed in a very tiny room while 4 bed rooms contained 2 double bunk beds, which would have been better for me if I know it from booking information. Otherwise, it was a great experience and I will definitely come back in case I went to London for a similar purpose.

Solid choice for a cheap evening
Great hostel, nice vibe, cool bar and cheap - even on the RWC final weekend. Handy for the DLR at Deptford or rail links at New Cross - easily get to London Bridge/Canary Wharf quickly. Markets were cool too. I don't think anyone is going to call this area upmarket, quite the opposite perhaps, but the hostel is a secure oasis in the middle of a rough around the edges area. Take caution at night as you would in any area of London.

My Experience with Venture Hostel
Well, I believe for providing such a feed-back what should be taken into account is what you paid and what in return you got. In this case, It was my first experience with hostel, and I was a bit worry how it goes, but I have to confess that they didn't disappoint me. Besides, the staffs are friendly and cooperative (especially Natalie and Tom). To summarize, I would say this hostel would be an option if I go to London again, and I might suggest it to my friends, in case they are just looking somewhere to sleep over at nights and spend their time exploring London's attractions.

I'll start by saying I picked this place based on price alone, and for what you pay for it's fine if you're planning to be out and about most of the day and just crashing there at night (and being a hostel, I imagine that's what most of you will be doing).

Very very cheap - get what you pay for
We stayed in a 9 bed shared dorm. The room was tiny. It had 3 triple bunk beds which can make things very claustrophobic. Someone tossing about in the bed below or above yours can ruin your sleep for the night. The common shower and toilet areas are clean and well maintained. The bar below serves a decent complimentary breakfast in the morning (cereal, eggs, toast, juice, yoghurt) and is open till reasonably late. The WiFi quality is good in the bar but reduces as you go up. The hostel ensures that you spend most of your time in the city as there is little comfort to return home to. This is a very spartan accommodation and is best suited for those who have very little privacy or luxury requirements.

So it being so cheap u really can't complain much. Pretty clean, nice helpful staff, comfortable beds, did I say cheap.. Only downsides is it's a rough neibourhood so coming back to late is not the best thing and also a little far from central London about 45 mins by bus. Otherwise good value for what u pay.

As I enter in hotel, the first thing I noticed was darkness in lobby. Not enough lightning. Room were okay. But when I went for breakfast I noticed, cup and glasses weren't washed properly and stink but people still use it without any complain to staff. No food and hygiene care.
I would recommend this hotel for one night stay only because it's cheap. But not for food and hygiene. Although toilet and bathroom were clean enough to use.
And they charge me twice. I paid them cash so I thought they won't charge my bank but they did! Now I am waiting for my refund.
