This is a 1 Star hotel charging 5 Star+ prices. Beware Expedia ratings are misleading.
- no coffee or tea in room - you pay for everything including slumming it,
- no hot water in the room for 2 days,
- Gekko in the thatched roof disturbing all night (no sleep!!) with droppings from the thatched roof falling on you,
- small irritants like charging for extra drinking water in your room (2 bottles provided) in a very hot climate,
- asking for a top up for any small item… feels like a money grab,
- charging automatically 15% gratuity without asking for everything - even in the included breakfast package,
- service staff were very nice and hospitable,
- front office has a lousy attitude,
- ambiance of Forest + Beach very nice

We just returned from our third stay at Be Tulum this February, and once again, it delivered a beautiful and memorable experience.
There was some seasonal seagrass, as expected this time of year, but noticeably less than we’ve seen in April. The team does a great job keeping the beach directly in front of the resort clean and enjoyable. Beach service stands out — attentive, prompt, and seamless without ever interrupting the relaxed atmosphere.
The service overall is impeccable. The staff is warm, professional, and consistently accommodating - when bikes weren’t available one day, they quickly arranged for us to use bikes at a neighboring resort.
Breakfast, which was included, was lovely each morning — fresh, well-presented, and a perfect start to the day. We typically dine out in town for lunch and dinner, so we can’t speak to the other on-property dining options.
Be Tulum remains one of our favorite romantic destinations. The atmosphere is intimate, peaceful, and effortlessly beautiful — the perfect place to disconnect and reconnect. We look forward to returning again.

The hotel was very unique. Check-in experience was good... the drive to the hotel was a bit nerve wracking but, that is probably any resort in Tulum.
Food while we were there at the resort was good, not amazing, but a solid breakfast. Service could probably be improved on, but they were busy and I could have learned the language.

It’s a nice hotel with beautiful rooms, but I don’t think it should be rated as a 5-star property. They lacked some basic amenities that most hotels provide, such as slippers, and we had to ask for toothbrushes and toothpaste twice before receiving them. Except for Aylin, I didn’t find the other staff to be well-trained or particularly pleasant. They have two nice outdoor pools, but the water is so cold that you can’t get into them. The food was 8/10 — I enjoyed it. Overall, it’s okay, but I wouldn’t stay here again.

The location is absolutely stunning, surrounded by nature and right on a beautiful stretch of beach, perfect for a quiet morning walk or watching the sunset. The food was amazing as well, breakfast, lunch, and dinner were all impressive, generous, and full of fresh local flavors. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive, always making sure everything was perfect. The room had that perfect “wild luxury” vibe: stylish yet close to nature, with thoughtful details everywhere. I would love to come back and stay here again; it’s truly one of the best places I’ve ever stayed.

I’m so happy I found this resort. The Air Suite we booked was a dream come true and felt like a treehouse. It was private, surrounded by palm trees and the concrete and wood gave it a soothing minimalist feel that was so relaxing and comforting. The dual shower…exquisite. The best part was the private rooftop deck and plunge pool. We had total privacy and felt surrounded in beauty. The free breakfast was delicious with good options and the hotel restaurant was unbelievable. Their breakfast and dinner service was outstanding. You must try the squid and shrimp empanadas. Our room steward, Raquel, was so kind and accommodating whether it was restaurant suggestions or helping us navigate the area to even making sure we were comfortable. The front desk is also so friendly and helpful. I cannot recommend this resort highly enough. It was truly a dream come true experience and we cannot wait to return, the staff made us feel like we are family.

The resort and the rooms are beautiful. But the service was pretty awful from our experience. Staff ks friendly but pointless when it came to basic things. We had a broken light outside of our room entrance and we repeatedly asked them to fix it daily and it was not fixed until our last night after my husband had a stern talk with them. It was dangerous to walk in and out of our room in the darkness, a total safety hazard. Basic things like face clothes were not replenished during cleaning and housekeeping kept the doors opened during service which welcomed a a swarm of mosquitos into our room. If you like a beautiful jungle setting and don’t mind getting eaten alive by mosquitos, then this is your spot!

The wonderfully wide beachfront property sprinkled with pools and organically designed rooms and cabins nestled in the jungle still steal the show. While the rooms smell a bit moldy, the front desk is not well trained or responsive, and the beach/restaurant employees focus more on talking with themselves than the guests, it’s a wonderful experience.

For years I have stayed in this hotels (Nomade and Be) and it’s a shame they treat you so poorly. The reason I always stay is because of the location and beautiful facilities. They always have people in training, and poorly trained.

If I could give Be Tulum a higher rating, I would. This hotel is so special and unique. We stayed in the alcove suite with a plunge pool. It was like we were tucked away in the jungle. On the main strip in Tulum however pretty far down so expect to shell out for taxis. They drag the beach for the seaweed multiple times a day which was nice. Across all of the area we had moments with servers forgetting items we ordered etc. we borrowed bikes and the first few had issues like flat tires before we got a pair to use. Be was fantastic. The service & staff, room & amenities, property & layout – all of it just top notch. We stayed in the Premium Beachfront Suite and were blown away with the view, the plunge pool, the space, design and confort.
We dined at 4 Fuegos, Maresais, Kuu (sister property next door) and Macondo (sister property next door); everything was delicious.
Also loved the Mayan Clay Massage on the beach deck overlooking the water.
Overall a stellar stay and everything was above our expectations. We will definitely come back.

Be Tulum is a solid 3 or 4 star property. The food was excellent and the staff was friendly and welcoming. It’s a more off the beaten path type of hotel which is not necessarily my type of vibe. The rooms need to be updated for the price they are charging (water temp fluctuates and wifi is ok). Trying this hotel one time was enough for us. I also wouldn’t stay there more than two nights. Overall, an OK hotel.

Throughout the 8 years many things changed - some for the better but also for the worse 1.) prices have increased a lot (which is probably due to the increasing popularity of Tulum and inflation) but at the same time amenities have decreased notably. Usual things you would expect from a hotel in this price range disappeared over the years e.g. slippers, speakers, nespresso machines in the Aire suites. Additionally, this year for the first time there is no more turndown service which used to be provided after your evening shower in the past years. 2.) service at the reception has increased, they now have a concierge service 3.) many activities have been added that can be booked by guests from BeTulum and Nomad 4.) Breakfast hasn’t changed much in options but is as delicious as always 5.) overall service is very friendly 6.) it seemed that they only use copal at night now (used to be in the morning as well) which is very sad if you enjoy the scent :) 7.) updated cocktail options, notably the Condesa

Exquisite location & hotel. Everything was overpriced in the hotel but staff was kind and nice during stay. I will never stay here again because 3 weeks after our stay we received a suspicious charge on our credit card from this hotel. Bill was fully settled when we left and on reaching out no one got back to us. It is unsettling to know they still have our credit card information. Still no one reached out I emailed 4 times and reached out to 5 different hotel people on WhatsApp and still nothing.

Wonderful resort. Friendly staff. Some areas of our rooms needed attention. One section of Shower ceiling was peeling off and falling down. Not that big of a deal for us , but for the amount of money we spent this shouldn’t have been the case. Same thing was happening on our roof top pool, the shaded wood area was collapsing so we were afraid to lay down and relax there as intended. But the common area environment and the vibe of the resort compensated for the little flaws.

Have stayed her several times…service has declined…we have stayed here and there sister hotel Nomade…a total of 5 times. It’s been 3 years since we visited. The service is NOT what is used to be. On top of that, I left a diamond ring in the room and messaged them to retrieve it..and they literally have ghosted me since they first responded. I told them exactly where I left it. I have reached out to the concierge another two times day, zero response. Unacceptable. The overall service isn’t what it used to be at all but the lack of responsiveness is really INSANE. I am happy to edit this review WHEN I get A RESPONSE and help with going ring back.
