Good location and comfortable
Just be aware of the live music in the bar that is on until 11,30 at night on a Friday and Saturday...no good if you want an eatrly night...even tho the rooms are on the second floor!

Macheala booked us in, she’s so friendly and helpful, a great asset to this old pub with rooms, it’s not a hotel. The entrance door for guests is piled high with cigarette ends, not a good look. Our room at the top of a very narrow staircase was so small, the bed was a small double and we didn’t get much sleep. Not fit for two adults. The room was so hot but we couldn’t keep the window open as the pubs cellar cooling system ran all night long with the system just under our window. They don’t offer breakfast which is not included, until 10 am, too late as we had a bus to catch at that time. Real hotels offer breakfast from much earlier. Very disappointed and not worth the money paid.

Friendly staff, comfortable and very clean room. Was able to park close by with help of hotel, who provided on street parking permit for smallcharge £4 for 2 nights. Would definetely recommend and will use again

Brilliant place to stay in, parking close by if you want to pay! Although they do give you a parking permit for the zones near by if you can find a space. Really convenient for a walk down to the harbour/beach

The pub itself was fantastic and the staff were helpful and the food was great and well priced. The room itself had a strong smell like a damp carpet or drain as we opened the door. We left the window open while we walked around the town but the smell remained...it was even stronger in the wee bathroom which had no ventilation and a notice advising to keep the bathroom door and window open while showering to prevent steam build up. Speaking of which, there were no toiletries in the shower. For the price we paid for the room i dont think it was value for money.

Room was okay, but only that. The room was clean and tidy, however the bed was very creaky, not ideal if you were planning to have a romantic weekend!!
Shower wasn’t the most powerful and the shower head was fixed in position with a cable tie, so no adjustment.
On a positive note, the pub food was good and the Theakston ales on the bar are very well kept

Nice place, great location but noisy from 7am

Friendly staff and lovely bar. Ok room for price. We expected there to be some noise from the street down below with it being a central location and midweek but not at 7am also they dont have double glazing on 1 window in room 1 so was very noisy. Would recommend to stay here but only if you are an early riser and dont mind on your trip away. Unfortunately the noise has put us off staying here again.

Our wonderful stay

Just right for what we wanted it for clean comfy beds slept well no noise from bar below but we was on top floor and breakfast was good and tasty which u pay seperate for but for 6 pound u got your moneys worth only down side was it wasnt served till 10am but if u av a early start there is other places to go but will defo be staying again really enjoyed

The hotel was clean.The food was okay and the bedrooms
clean and tidy. Raining hard when we arrived,so happy to
pay only £2.00 to park that Bar man filled in for us(new to this parking concept) Problem was he didnt mention \"Zones\" and we got a £25.00 fine that came on Sunday 4th. Saturday evening being tired we stayed in bar and opened a TAB and booked Sunday Breakfast,retired early.Greated by this \"Bar Man\" who came over saying (in front of everyone having Breakfast, that we had not paid our Tab.Embarrased I said that in \"Normal Hotels you pay before you leave...but not hear...they don't trust you !!.That night we went back in the bar for dinner and a drink and was refussed a tab because it was not allowed.then a couple came beside us to eat and were given a Tab.We ate up went to bed and left before breakfast, prefering a friendly welcome in Pickering on the way home. If that Bar man was the Owner - I would think about how to improve his cutomer service techniques.

Very nice staff. Bit noisy from people below us . But then it is a pub. Very nice decor but could do with a new bed as it was very creeky . Brilliant location as long as you don’t want total silence all the time. But in general a good stay

We booked 2 rooms at very short notice and we didn't expect anything more than adequate, however on arrival we found the property to be very clean and a lot more than just adequate. The pub/restaurant was very popular with both residents and locals alike and was in a very central area

Close to town centre up a hill but the majority of b&b's in the town are, no breakfast but we new this, very busy town with our visit being Monday and Tuesday we pre booked restaurants because of eat out to help out, would mark our room down for one important item the bed was not comfortable.

Lovely place for a short break.

The hotel room was small, as to be expected for an establishment like this, but very well decorated and clean throughout. It’s above a pub, so it got a little noisy at night, but in general, a brilliant place to stay Nd or a short break in Whitby.

Fantastic location, just a few minutes walk from the harbour, comfy rooms, clean, nice shower. Can't fault The Granby at all! There is live music some nights (Friday and Saturday I think), but it finishes about 11ish, not a big deal for us, but could be for some. Would highly recommend and will be going back ourselves.
