Neither my television or my room phone were working. They were sorted out for me then, on my third night I was informed that neither of the restaurants were open at all!!! I had been with relative’s until then, luckily….i should have been told in booking, I was informed that if I’d come the weekend after they would have been open. Not much help when I live well over 200 miles away! I won’t be going back.

We booked the Orsett Hall as was travelling from Norfolk to visit family over the Xmas period. Very disappointed to find out that we was staying in an Annexe around the back of the hotel and not in the main building and in an Attic. Booked this hotel being a stately hotel and very disappointed to say the least.

This was our 3rd stay at the Orsett Hall Hotel we have never been disappointed. We booked a couples spa package, that included afternoon tea.massage, and then relaxing in the steam room jacuzzi and pool.
Our suite was so nice clean spacious with a four poster bed. We will be coming back for a 4th visit.

Wonderful staff, very accommodating and nice restaurants. Location was great for access. Gym is on the small side, but adequate facilities. In room AC didn't go below 19 degrees, so room was a warm. However still a great place to stay.

The rooms are old furniture held together by a rope. Carpets were dirty. Pillows were hard and so was the bed. The room for breakfast was filthy. I.e the table and chairs. The only thing that was move and clean was the bathroom. The entire hotel needs to be redone,

We stayed for a wedding which was wonderful. We booked an executive double which was huge, although my parents had the same category of room and it was much smaller, and had views of the gardens. The grounds are lovely, staff polite and dairy intolerance was well catered for. Two choices of places to eat and food selection of food. Breakfast was pricey at £16 each though. Especially if you only eat cereal! Would stay again though.

DON'T BOTHER GIVING REQUESTS, THEY WILL BE IGNORED
I booked 2 rooms, one for ourselves and 1 for my friends. I booked well in advance to ensure we got what we wanted. I entered a request for an accessible room due to my limited mobility. They ignored this request and put me in a room a long walk away from reception in a completely different building. I asked when booking in if our 2 rooms could be close to us and was assured they would be. That again was ignored and the other room was on a different floor altogether. Furthermore despite the fact they were aware of my limited capabilities, they gave us a room with a bath only, which i could not get in and out of so could not use. Very disappointed and would not rec omend to anyone.

We checked in and all good. At 12:30 AM called reception to report the loud noise of people having sex and chatting very loud from the room next to us.
The personnel at the reception mentioned that will do something about it.
As the noise didn’t stop at all tried to phone reception again and the noise have not stopped at all and no answer from reception.
This is terrible attitude from the staff member that don’t care about either the customer complaint and also the image of the hotel instead of being a high rating hotel now it will be advertised for the image that it has given us during our stay.

Spot staining on carpets in room clearly careless from other guests but cleaners could do more ,large gap under main door to room 30 could do with strip also shower controls in bathroom looks like bits missing eg,chrome covers etc ,wardrobe in room simply needs hand handy man to cut 2 inches off bottom and push up to wall under electricity box ,if all these small jobs are done in room 30 will be perfect ,my past job was quality controls in 5 star hotels so I can spot minor irritations easily and advise on all your rooms if you want any help regards Dave

I’ve used this hotel now on several business trips, good for parking. It’s a great place, lovely grounds, nice staff, good restaurants. Also has a small gym on site - which is ok. I’d definitely stay again, for me, its better than most other accommodation in the area.

We had a lovely 2 night stay at Orsett Hall. The grounds are lovely with an array of wild birds including green parakeets. The food was good with very generous portions. The room was clean. Bathroom was clean just had some sealant peeling off bottom of the bath. The bed was a bit too hard for me.
We used the swimming pool, sauna and steam room. We were the only ones using the pool so it was fine but it isn't that big so would have felt crowded if anyone else was in there. I did notice that some of the tiles around exposed edge needed cleaning.

I enjoyed my experience at the Orsett Hotel I was there for a family wedding the room was clean and a nice size. The reception staff was friendly and helpful by getting me soya milk for my tea both in my room and in the restaurant. The hotel also held luggage after checking out.
My only gripe was the deposit they had to take for my room I wasn't going to get any incidentals as I didn't need any and when I asked if I could use the deposit towards a late checkout they said I can't be used for it I would consider it an incidental.

I've been a regular business traveller at Orsett for the past 18 months. I think it offers very good quality and value for money, certainly when compared to the somewhat tired Premier Inn properties around Basildon that are generally more expensive.
One area I've been less impressed with is the \"buffet breakfast experiment\" which has recently been introduced on certain days. It has a noticeable impact on the quality of the hot breakfast items, compared to the normal table services, so not a good idea in my opinion.

Lovely venue and gardens. Breakfast was a bit of a shame. They had run out of most items in the buffet and we had to wait for a table. They should also have proper hot water for drinks and not flasks.

Paid for an executive room, bed was terrible, AKA Hostel quality, the primary reason of staying is the bed, to sleep, double but 2 singles zipped together, but that poor was like a wall in the middle, dosed in like fabreeze, overpowering , had to sleep on a towel to dull the pillow smell.

The hotel is situated in a quiet location and hosted within a Large Manor House on very well kept grounds. The price of the room was not much more thank a premier inn which is why I booked the venue. The only reason I have not provided a top score is that the pillows on the bed were uncomfortable and the walls are thin. I could hear my neighbours tv and speaking until 12 midnight which wasn’t great. Also the bar was quite a distance from the main hotel and based in a newer section right at the back.

Orsett hall 4 star hotel.
On arrival the night receptionist greeted us by putting out the cigarette he was smoking by the reception door. Then could not find our booking as it had not been printed out.
When asked about our car we informed him it was in a ‘disabled bay’. We were allocated our room number 56 given the keys and told to follow the signs. Little did I know it was going to be a route march to the other end of the hotel up and down lots of stairs. Not good if you are disabled although there are lifts if you look for them. The room was reasonably clean but not as any of the advertised ones on the website. It had restricted head height with chairs underneath. The bed mattress was old lumpy and had springs “digging in’. The pillows were lumpy. The fitted wardrobe was dangerously loose and fell forward when you opened the door. The bed side lamp only turned off via the plug behind the bed side unit. The shower was cold the toilet was running water all the time. And the bathroom light fan was noisy & ran for twenty mins every time the door opened with no ‘night switch’ and had a light was hanging from the ceiling. The receptionist when we pointed out the problems was polite stating that she would inform her manager and that they would be in touch. (Still waiting at time of writing this.)

We stayed for the Christmas period while visiting family in London. The hotel was easy to find and the grounds were lovely. Unfortunately our trip was ruined slightly by an extremely noisy room next to ours. The staff were incredibly understanding and moved us to another room without question. However you can still clearly hear other rooms, so if you are sensitive to noise keep that in mind.

They need to maintain their standards for all customers without exception. The menu options available very critical as well. But generally exceptional.

Stayed overnight on business. Had booked on Expedia as saw property had pool, sauna. On arrival was informed that it's £10 per hour, per person to use the leisure facilities! Won't be booking again on this basis, as it had not been advertised as such on Expedia. Breakfast was good and staff nice.

At first I couldn’t find a way out to road. No sign ‘Exit’ enable me to drive out easily especially when it was dark.
It was almost impossible to close the blind in bathroom. I couldn’t dare to stand in bath naked in front of window where residents or staff could see me. I just managed to reach blind cord using my finger tips as the the cord was 2/3rd way up the window in Room 5. Short people, like my partner, couldn’t reach it at all unless he climbed onto window sill - no way as he was 85 years old. Blind should be left diwn at our arrival.
Bathroom apart from blind was good but poor designed and not good for safety as there was no grab handle in bath area. My partner again couldn’t use bath/shower as due to his age he has poor balance. I found it uncomfortable to use the shower as my face had to be close to wall at bath end because the shower head was too short to wall so I was unable to relax under the shower due to curved bath end.
Apart from these problems our stay was enjoyable. Staff were so lovely with very good attitude to Deaf people like us. We enjoyed the stay.

The hotel could be like every other hotel and take a ‘swipe’ of you me card and charge anything directly to that. Now, I am £200 out of pocket (for up to 2 weeks according to the staff) until the hotel decides to return this money to me. Completely unnecessary.

Got given room 12a. Very noisy heating pipes by the headboard. Knocking noise from the pipes every minute or so. Reading through some reviews this problem has been going on for a while but the hotel is still giving this room to guests. After complaining they did change my room but never should have been given this room as there has been complaints about this in the past. Otherwise the hotel is nice enough. Staff friendly enough.

Overall, I really appreciated my stay at Orsett Hall Hotel.I was in the Sartoria building above the cafe - which meant that I wasn’t disturbed by any wedding events. There was a bit of a distance between my room and the car park so I made several trips to move my stuff up to where I needed.
The room was very good - clean and with one or two nice touches, the bed was clean and good, there was a nice TV with Netflix, and a nicely fitted bathroom.
Upon reading the ‘Guest Welcome Info’ it became clear that the estate has a great 300 year local Orsett village heritage, which includes accommodating King George VI and Elizabeth (the late Queen’s) Mother.
The grumbles - the skylight in my room, intended to offer choices for daylight and ventilation was damaged and allowed some cold air and traffic noise in to the room at night while you were sleeping. I did tell reception and members of staff but it was never sorted out. Also the motion-activated lights in the bathroom tended to plunge the guest in to darkness when you didn’t need it to….as I mentioned - minor things only.

I used to live in Orsett and knew the old Orsett Hall. I like how the rebuild has remained faithful to the original. As the new hotel it is clean and reasonably comfortable, with nice sized rooms and two dining options. The grounds are nicely laid out and pleasant to walk in, and it is fairly quiet, except for when there’s a wedding, though the noise did not go on too late. It is unfortunate that the bath/shower combinations are so deep, as that makes it a little dangerous for the short and less mobile to get in and out. The pillows could be plumper. Also a more comfortable armchair and a mini fridge would have been nice in this four star hotel. However, I would still recommend it for a few days stay.

No advance warning of noisy party - very unhappy.
I am a regular visitor to Orsett Hall Hotel. This is the worst experience by a mile. I was placed in an upstairs room very close to a function room. I arrived around 4pm and the car park/reception/ foyer was full of people attending a wedding. The wedding had very loud music until 23:30 that evening, followed by people being very merry until nearly 1am in the morning. I had complained around 22:30 and the duty manager came to my room to explain that there was nothing he could do, and tried to fob be off with some made up story about the noise being below the upper decibel level so was ok!?! I work as an H&S professional, so I informed him to stop making up drivel and sort the problem. The hotel phoned me and emailed me prior to my visit to ask if I was still checking in (which is their normal procedure), and at no point did anybody explain to me that a large wedding party would be going on that night. There are plenty of hotels in the area that I would have gone to. Poor by the hotel on all fronts Im afraid.

We booked 2 rooms as we were attending a family wedding nearby. Our room (12a) was dark with a small window, but the bed was comfortable. After unpacking we went out so didn’t notice the issues to come.
We got back late & went to bed. It’s an old building so the windows can’t be opened which is understandable. Halfway through the night woke up very hot as the aircon had failed. The rest of the night was restless as the aircon kept failing with a fault code so the room was hot and stuffy. Also behind the headboard there was an intermittent knocking throughout the night with different levels of noise & duration. As my wife is a very light sleeper this interrupted her sleep.
In the morning reported it to reception & was told it would be looked. Later we returned to the room & noticed that the noise was still there & the aircon failed with a fault code. We rang reception & the Duty Manager came & we moved rooms. The DM was very apologetic, I appreciate that things can go wrong but its how it is dealt with that counts.

The location is nice, lovely for weddings. Staff were friendly. Unfortunataly our room didnt meet our expectations, many cracks in the walls, some lights broken, bed wasnt too comfortable.
The breakfast area is really lovely and it wasnt too bad overall. However, on Saturdays coffee cost extra money and on sunday its buffet style. This wasnt indicated prior to our stay or at the hotel.

Upon arrival the receptionist asked me to login to the wifi and check myself in!! That’s just what I needed after a 5 hour journey! Once I had done my part and paid for the room in full and also £50 per night for any charges to the room, she issued the key card.
Room was nice, fresh and clean. Only gripe was that there were only two towels in the bathroom, one hand (hair) and one bath. I’d have expected an extra hand one.
