The rooms are spacious and clean, and although the balconies are small, they do provide a lovely view.

Nice hotel, and staff. I think it could do with an update, looking tied in areas! As you walk into the hotel it had weird smell, which is not a 1st good impression! Breakfast was lovely. Overall a nice hotel but not sure about its 4 star rating?

My husband and I visit Benalmadena often, but have never stayed at this hotel. We are not traveling with children so we liked the \"adults only\" option. The room and hotel were very clean and the staff was very nice. Since we have never stayed at the marina, we asked the front desk a few basic questions about the ferry and cycle rentals. The front desk did not have any basic knowledge of anything around the marina. We asked more than one person basic questions and no one could answer our questions. (in fact, they didn't even know there was a ferry).
They had a dancing performance one night that I thought was entertaining. I would recommend seeing it.
The only real complaint I have about this location is our view. We paid extra to have sea view. Our room was facing the sea, but it was so low to the ground and just above the pool slightly that we could barely see the sea above the pool. We didn't feel there was any privacy or much of a view. They told us at the desk that we would have had to specifically ask when booked that we wanted a higher level. I guess we just assumed \"sea view\" meant \"sea view\". We would have done better getting partial view of sea and being higher up and saved the money. We did like the gym and breakfast was good, but I doubt we would spend the money to stay here again.

Great place!
Had a great time. Although we were only there 1 night. We were able to check in early and given access to our room! The man on reception was lovely and welcoming! hotel was spotless and all staff were friendly. Cant fault anything.
Check out was 12 but were able to book a time slot for a room to have a shower which included towels and toiletries free of charge which was fabulous as we had a late evening flight! Would definitely recommend this hotel!

It was in a great location. Close to tons of bars and restaurants. Close to the beach and marina.
Staff were all lovely and very helpful.
Rueben at the front desk was extremely polite and helpful.
The bartender and servers were all professional.

Clean modern hotel. Great location. Refreshing to stay in a hotel where sun beds were readily available whatever the time of day! Only slight problem was lack of storage space in the rooms. There were no drawers and limited shelf space. Friendly staff, good food and a pleasant snack bar. The nightly discos were held outside and were great fun. We would not hesitate to return.

Very brief one night visit. The room was clean. Nice selection of toiletries. We were on the very top (12th) floor which had a good view over the harbour. The guys on reception were very helpful!

It looks like either a hotel or apartments are being built next door. Visitors who booked directly with the hotel were notified of the building work prior to check in.

Great location but needs work
We stayed for 11 nights for a relaxing holiday. The hotel was comfy and the reception staff very friendly. The bedrooms were modern however had little storage which made hanging up clothes difficult when staying for longer than 5 nights.
The bathroom and shower were ok however there was mould on the silicone and on both shower heads. I cleaned the shower with a towel however I believe this should be done by the hotel daily.
The pools were good and there were enough beds over the 3 levels. The pools however also were mouldy and require attention.

Abusive stag group.Managment wouldn't do anything about it!!! Told me to move instead. Bathrooms not clean or cleaned well through our stay. Towels wripped and frayed.

There was an awful smell of drainage from the bathroom and main bedroom area. The smell was toxic!!!! Nothing was done to eliminate this!!! Also pool are had food and drink left out for 3 to 4 days. Very windy the glass was smashed!!! Not goog for pool areas

Had a room to start off with straight on to the street at the front of the hotel, noise was awful couldn’t sleep. Asked for higher room told would have to pay. Was more than happy to for the sea view. Instead offered room 460 overlooking hotel entrance. Gotta say beautiful quite, huge room, nice and quite and chilled. Great rest! Will defo ask for this room again if I stay. Good recharge for a week and chilled time.

Fantastic location near beach and marina complex. Yes, room decor was dated but everything was clean and the shower was powerful despite its looks. Great breakfast selection. I was worried about it being a dog friendly hotel as am not a fan of dogs but only saw one during our stay and it was leashed and quiet.

The hotel looks to have had a recent refurb in some of the rooms but unfortunately we had a more dated room (not an issue for us) still very clean and had everything we needed. Also blessed with the most beautiful sea view. Staff were lovely, great service, throughly enjoyed our stay here.

Staff were mostly friendly, except one rather abrupt front desk receptionist, but Rafa, also at front desk, was FANTASTIC. As someone also in the hotel business is happily try to steal him for my small hotel if I could! We had a couple of minor issues but he went beyond the call to sort it out.
The pools always had loungers available, no need to stress! Rooftop pool is very shallow but the water temperature very pleasant. Food at the pool bar was only ok. Smoothies didn’t seem to be fresh fruit.
There was a bit of noise from roadworks but it wasn’t terrible though it did ruin the peace at the rooftop pool a couple of days.
Overall a nice enough hotel if a little characterless.

In the restaurant at breakfast and evenings we experience great attention to detail from a man called William. He is top of his game and is a great advocate for the hotel. I would promote him if an opportunity comes his way. Loved the way he engaged with us about his travels and how much he enjoyed his work.

You have got to love a hotel that allows dogs but not children! The area that dogs were allowed was restricted so they did not impact other guests. Also great that sunbeds could not be reserved and this was enforced. Great location. Great rooms. Good breakfast

This hotel is nicely situated right across the Marina. Rooms and especially bathrooms somewhat outdated. However, the most disappointing was that the beach adjacent to the property was closed. The beach closure information should have been available at the time of booking or later prior to the arrival. If I have known about the closure of the beach, I would look for another accommodations.

This is not a 4* hotel must be their family that wrote excellent reviews bathroom filthy, dirty towels from previous people, rooms SO basic not even a pen and i paid for upgrade, lights not workong in the room and parties till 3 am management ignoring the situation, people shouting be quient, honestly i went for 4 days to rest.. couldn't wait to get home!!

Booked a premium room with sea view. Room 608 was very spacious as was balcony. Unfortunately from inside the apartment we looked into buildings and only had sea view from balcony - not great if raining! I would say it was a side sea view- see photos. I realise I could have asked to move rooms but as there were barking dogs in , probably the best sea view room, it wasn’t worth the risk. Unfortunately the food is very mediocre. Excellent location.

We stayed in a sea view suite on the 5th floor for 3 nights. Lovely spacious room and bathroom. Great view and balcony. Furniture and bathroom a little tired and would definitely benefit from a bit of tlc/upgrading. However everything was very clean. There was a bit of a ‘drain’ smell from the bathroom too, don’t know if that was caused by the rain that coincided with our stay.
The shared areas in the hotel were very nice and bright. I love the fittings and the bright paintings on the walls too!
Breakfast was fine, and had something for everyone.

My stay was good, all the hotel workers are friendly and smile does not leave their faces, services around the clock, the rooms are comfortable, my room overlooked the sea and the view was more than wonderful, the breakfast was wonderful and varied, I did not try dinner because we are often outside the hotel, and we enjoyed seafood meals Grilled on the coast.

Great location, lovely hotel two great swimming pools and a lot of bathing space. Nice gym and lovely relaxing receptions. The hotel is easily walkable to marina. Lots of amenities very close by. Special thank you to staff Mario and Javier, attentive and knowledgeable. The lift buttons were perplexing for everyone and need changing. The food although nice could be improved. Excellent holiday well worth the visit and we will be back.

The room needed some differed maintenance. The bed sheets had stains, the paint was peeling off in the bathroom and the balcony, the tub was in need of some TLC, etc.... We decided to cancel our stay and went somewhere else. The only positive was that the staff were very nice and had no issues canceling our reservation.

Pleasant stay. If you are looking for a beach experience this is a good place. Right off the beach and a main promenade. Not the most elegant area but perfect for relaxing. Was very clean and had no qualms about staying there. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful.

staff were very friendly. I like to swim all year round but couldn't here. The long pool you see in the brochure is too shallow. the pool outside the restaurant is very small and the bigger pool by the apartments was filthy and not cleaned in ages.

Just returned from an excellent 4 night stay at the Alay. Perfect location - close to beach, marina, promenade, shops and restaurants. Room was spacious, spotless and light. Public areas stylishly decorated and designed. Over 16s only meant a relaxing adult break - perfect!

Loved the location at the marina and the sea views exceptional. Swimming pools could have been warmer especially the top one. Could have been more entertainment in the evening, would have been more productive for the bar. The female staff were lovely but one of the males needs to realise he is in the “hospitality” industry and learn to acknowledge customers and even crack a smile. Only on room only but had one breakfast and that was enough really, lukewarm food. Tasty though. But because evening meal was also buffet we decided not to eat as didn’t want lukewarm food again. Would we go back....definitely.
