This is a cosy traditionally Spanish hotel with a warm cosy atmosphere. Everything is spotlessly clean, staff are friendly, the pool is great as is the breakfast. Will not hesitate to return.

Pool nice and quiet and relaxing. But hotel needs a major renovation compared to the sister hotel next-door. My room had a lot of wasted space and the bathroom was so condensed. Staff very friendly and nice.

I was a bit concerned about the hotel having read previous feedback. However I found the hotel location was excellent and although the building was a bit dated I found the staff to be very helpful, the room was clean and specious, the breakfast was very good and our evening meals where excellent. I will definitely be back and would recommend it to friends and family.

Stayed for 2 nights,felt very relaxed at the hotel especially with a bright and cheerful reception from the lady on the desk as we checked in.Breakfast was a good selection of hot and cold foods.I ate the typical English breakfast,cereal,toast,eggs,bacon etc.My wife chose smoked salmon with a variety of cheeses and quality fruit,all food was replenished when needed.We ate in a part of the restaurant which I believe some guests were not aware of,a glass fronted dining room overlooking the sea with beautiful views of the sunrise,absolutely brilliant! Our room was spacious,clean,great bathroom and balcony,huge TV with a massive selection of UK channels.The hotel is a good example of a 4 star.We could have used the spa but chose to spend our stay enjoying the autumn sun.
The only negative was the evening meal served in the sister hotel the 4 star MS Amaragua.Incredibly opulent entrance and reception area gave us high expectations,escalator into the restaurant showing a bright and roomy area.The starter,huge mixed salad was great,it was 4 star.The main course was where it fell apart,many options were missing from the servery with little effort to replenish.Worse was all the hot food was at best luke warm.A low 3 star for this course.Dessert was abysmal,all the items ended up in a small heap on 1 small chilled section,ice cream and a tiny selection of chilled cake,no creams,all the fresh fruit had gone,we were not late diners! Stay here again,YES,but forget the evening meal!

We stayed in the MS TROPICANNA - nice staff, clean but room very dated and no coffee making facilities. Room in my opinion let the rest of the hotel down as everything else was really lovely. We had the option to use the hotel facilities connected next door which were excellent, so our stay was really nice. Excellent food and lovely staff. Just the room needs updating

The hotel was clean, if a little dated which didn't bother us.
The location is perfect close to the beach, less than 50m, and right on the paseo.
The use of the facilities at the Amaragua hotel (sister hotel), next door was excellent.
We have booked to stay in 2024.

This hotel was clean and comfortable but would have been greatly improved if the lovely little bar had been open serving food and drinks. We did have access to the ‘sister’ hotel next door which did have a functioning bar and restaurant but having this in our own hotel would have made the holiday much more enjoyable.

This hotel was ideal for our short holiday. The staff were excellent and the room was spacious and clean. The bed was very firm which may not suit everyone. The breakfast options were extensive though we noticed the hot food items were not always being refilled quickly.

Great location but too expensive

Close to the beach and to the strip, but overall hotel was far too expensive for what it was. Some drawers were already broken in the wardrobe which meant we couldn't use them. TV so big it took up majority of large mirror. Beds were definitely \"hotel\" standard, good for a few days but you get a bad back after anything more than that. Didn't even want to try breakfast as we'd heard from several accounts of other people staying there saying that it wasn't great. Apart from that, staff were lovely and the hotel was clean.

Close to Beach but....

Fairly pleasant stay. No problem getting a sunbed by the pool. Buffet breakfast was ok, and staff ok too. Really noisy though... our room was just opposite the hotel next door and you can hear all the night events they put on. We were in a room next to the band staging area- just unlucky I guess - but didn't need that at midnight.
They offered to move us to another room which was good of them, but it was our last night so no point....

Nice hotel more for adults rather than family's.

We had a nice stay. We found the beds very uncomfortable . The room was clean and tidy. They was no tea or coffee or kettle in the room. So you couldn't make a hot drink if you wanted one. We also had 2 towels taken of our sun beds while we had lunch .

We've stayed here a few times now as its conveniently placed for family we meet nearby. It has definitely gone downhill recently though and we probably won't stay again. The staff, although not unpleasant, are not welcoming or friendly. The room, although clean, had one socket which had a three socket extension in it, all being used, was very dark because even though we booked 'partial sea view' we looked onto the side of the hotel next door which blocked all light. The bed creaked everytime we moved so had disturbed night. Finally, the breakfast was decidedly scaled back. Having stayed before the choice was much less than before. The place needs a bit of upgrading and, unlike before, the staff don't make up for this shortfall so we'd definitely look for an alternative

Great Location - but needs some improvements.

The Hotel Tropicana is in a great location, a stones throw away from the beach and seafront and 15 minutes walk from Benalmadena harbour and 25 minutes to Torremolinos town.

Although very clean, the decor in the Tropicana reception and its rooms is dark and dated. Whilst the bathroom appeared to have been modernised it's worth noting that the shower is situated in a bath tub and there are no handles to hold on to when stepping out of the bath.

Rooms have a fan, air con and a small fridge. The fridge is big enough to squeeze in a bottle of wine or two! ;)

There's no Wifi in the rooms and only a single English news channel available on the TV.

I found my mattress uncomfortable as did my partner. However, this could have been a one off as my parents didn't find theirs to be a problem.

Finally I need to warn you about the pool area. It's small and the loungers are limited (about 18 in total).
As a result of this we spent most of our sun bathing time on the beach opposite the hotel. €5 to rent a bed for the day or €4.50 for Tropicana residents.

Overall an enjoyable stay.

1980's HOTEL!!!!!! ¡!

The hotel is a throw back to the 1980's.very dark ,a musty smell, air fresheners plugged in everywhere. The bar area is closed nearly all-day. Not to mention the noisy room.You can hear people next door turn the lights on, toilet noise, etc etc .Book a different hotel,!!!!!!!

Have stayed at many hotels .. While hotels location is excellent .. Everything stops right there .. No wifi in rooms .. Lobby wifi lowest signal .. NoN working business center .. Staff with a bad attitude .. Our ac didn't work and we were offered no apologies .. Breakfast .. Well well .. Hair on exposed fruit .. Croissants stuck like Siamese Twins had to be pulled like an operation that's how stale they were .. Breakfast staff took everything down while we were eating .. No offer of last attempt made .. Very poor and untrained staff .. not sure if anyone from the hotel will read this and learn from the above review .. There are much better hotels along the beach .. Skip this one ..

Poor quality food; hotel needs reburbishment

The food at The Tropicana borders on appalling. Most evening meals are Chicken and/or Pork, and every meal is with soggy chips and peas. The soup is usually bland and lukewarm and the bread rolls are stale. The breakfast is equally terrible. Complaints to reception were met with a shrug of the shoulders. The resulted in having to eat out most evenings even though I paid for half-board. The hotel itself is desperately in need of reburbishment. The official rating is 4 star, which is totally missleading. I would rate it as a mid-level 3 star. It is right next door to a true 4 star hotel: The Amaragua, which by comparison shows how rundown The Tropicana has become over the years. It doesn't look like any money has been spent since the 70s when it was built. Yes, the hotel is in an excellent position right on the front, but I would guess it needs about 1 million Euros spent to bring it back to true 4 star standard. The chances of that happening are probably about zero in the economic climate. On the positive side the hotel and rooms are kept very clean, though the our room wasn't cleaned until late afternoon each day as the hotel is clearly understaffed. If you are looking for a 4 star hotel pass on this one.

DISAPPOINTING STAY AT THE TROPICANA HOTEL

very disappointing that we never felt that the staff cared to be pleasent around us ,didnt like to ask for anything.food was dreadful cold veg ect:no eggs and bacon.make sure when you have drinks with your meal that all of the staff see that you have signed the reciept or like us they ran after you! no apologies given.If you want a lovely day on the beach we would recommend to buy a sunbed at playa maguel end of la carihuela lovely people always pleased to see you unlike the hotel beach/sunbed ect: We would always recommend La Carihuela beautiful location but not the Tropicana hotel.

Exactly what we expected

We stayed in a studio apartment behind the hotel. The room was basic and clean, exactly as we had expected. Our studio room overlooked a busy road but earplugs and black out curtains ensured we had a good nights sleep. Located a few minutes from the hotel and from the beach it was perfect. We chose to have the hotel breakfast buffet each day as there was a plentiful selection of good food on offer. Take slip-on sandals to walk across the sand to the sea - the sand is so hot in the afternoons it feels as if it's burning your feet. One day the sea wasn't very clean but we could have used the pool instead. No nightclubs or noisy bars near to our hotel - but plenty of restaurants and beach bars to choose from. Would recommend this hotal for a quiet beach break.

Hotel Tropicana - the A|C doesn't work

The area is nice, but look at other hotels nearby unless you're OK with not having A/C in your room. Also, no ice and no parking. There is a restaurant on the premises but we didn't eat there because the only option is buffet (so forget about eating in your room).

Hotel Tropicana - 4 star or not 4 star

This hotel has a good location adjacent to the promenade/beach. It's clean and the staff are friendly. Our stay was on a bed and breakfast basis. The buffet style breakfast was definitely not 4 star, in fact I'd find it hard to give it 1 star. The cooked breakfast was always cold. The bacon and sausages were poor quality as were the cereals and fruit salad. Our room in itself was OK. Clean and a reasonable size. However, June is quite warm, especially for brits, and the air conditioning only worked as an additional fan - no cooling - in conjunction with the ceiling fan. Opening the balcony door might have helped but the noise from an extractor outlet below our room (203) made it impossible to sleep.

A Nice Beachfront Experience

The location was perfect--just a few steps to the beach. The staff was very helpful and helped us overcome any language barriers. Our room was spacious and had a great view of the beach. We would definitely stay here again. The Tropicana seemed to be a little smaller that some of the other beachfront hotels, and we liked that.

My recommendation of this hotel to others would be qualified. Location is lovely, on the beach. I have stayed there many times but this last visit I was given rooms at the entrance to the restaurant. The noise and the smells were not pleasant, Especially with the wedding on Saturday night. Breakfast has deteriorated from good fresh choice to a buffet down one end of the restaurant with stale cereal and tinned fruit. Not good enough. Dont think it warrents a 4 star anymore

The city is beautiful. Our stay was nice. there staff was very helpful. They were having trouble with English but really tried their best to help us.

Not happy with internet connection as it was intermittent.

I wish they has a coffee pot or kettle for heating water for tea and coffee. Resturant opened too late for us - 8:00am. S/B atleast 6 or 6:30 am.

Studios are great!

We opted to stay at the Tropicana again because of location and the fact we would have a kitchen. We were there during a really rainy period and were so glad that we had the ability to stay in at night and fix fresh shrimp, artichokes, tomatoes, strawberries, well, you get the picture! Close to supermarket, train station (even though it is uphill all the way), restaurants, shopping. We will stay there again!

Studio apartments are only 1 or 2 star at the best

The hotel is superbly located in a quiet position adjacent to all amenities.
The hotel itself is definitely 4 star but the annex with the studio apartments
is only 1 or 2 star and this should be made clear on any information
regarding the hotel.
The studio apartments are lacking in equipment with only a refrigerator
and 2 hob cooker top. There is no kettle, toaster or microwave oven which
for self catering purposes are essential even if only to make a cup of tea
or coffee.

Hotel Tropicana Torremolinos

I stayed at the Hotel Tropicana last weekend (Nov09) for 4 nights. The hotel is well located next to the beach and within walking distance of many bars and restaurants.

I had a studio room which was across the road from the main hotel. The room was very basic, a good size but basic in terms of amenities. The price is very good though, but don't expect a 4 star hotel it you take the cheapest room option. Free wireless internet was a bonus in the bar area.

The Tropicana has a great location on the beach wih its own beach bar and grill; these are real pluses. THe surrounding area is so-so with little good shopping or eating options.The hotel restaurant has a very good breakfast buffet that was included in our room rate and the one dinner we had in the hotel was good; we found the restaurant staff (especially Fernando) to be helpful and friendly.

The only minor knock I would have on the hotel is it is a little tired and several areas including the rooms could do with a fresh coat of paint, a some new furniture, etc,.

Would I stay there again,,,yes if my travels took me back to Torremolinas I would certainly go back as we spent so little time in the hotel itself the pluses of beach access etc far out weigh any some improvement opportunities they have.

Studio apartment was a total waste of money and time. Worst holiday we have had in Spain.

Apartments were away from the Hotel in an old V-shaped building with almost continual noise from the busy roads each side. Our first room was most depressing with dirty curtains trailing on the floor and hanging off the rods at the top. It was so small the dining table and chairs were on the north-facing balcony. Wardrobe doors looked as though they had been made of varnished firewood. We requested a better room and were given one which seemed to have been more recently refurbished. Even so the armchair had a leg broken off (which my husband repaired), two shall lamps which were insufficient to read by, a shower curtain which didn't reach the tray - consequently the floor was flooded each time we showered, and no chairs on the patio.

Dont book a studio room

This hotel is located on te beach and is a small walk to the main night life of the area. If you want to stay at the hotel book a room in the hotel and not a studio room as its a seperate building around the corner with no view what so ever. Room was only cleaned and Towls changed 3 times in 9 days which is very poor considering its classed as a 4 star. So for location to beach and nightlife its good but for comfort and view from the room its poor.

A little oasis

The hotel is stiuated in the middle of the promenade between Deportivo Benelmadena (Benelmadena's port) and the rocky area jutting out into the sea, each direction being a 10-15mins stroll. The centre of Torremolinos is about a 30min stroll from the hotel, just beyond the rocks. And then a hell of a lot of steps.

The hotel itself is excellent. The pool is clean and large. There aren't a great number of sun loungers and they all seemed to be all gone from about 9am onwards. That said, you're not meant to reserve them with a towel, but most were 'reserved' when we got down there.

We stayed in the apartments just behind the hotel (seperate building). They are big; seperate kitchen and bathroom, and have air conditioning (€20 refundable deposit). Our room had a balcony. Couldn't fault the rooms, though it's only serviced once a week so you'll run out of loo roll and towels.

The hotel seems popular with the Spanish. At 28yrs old, we were by far the youngest there, but it didn't matter as the hotel is situated only 5mins walk from the Irish Pubs etc.

The hotel and surroundings are quiet and secure. The pool is surrounded by a high wall, separating it from the road and the promenade, but the palm trees, the colourful foliage and general decor doesn't give the feeling you're in a walled garden. With the low flying, tropical looking birds, it's a little gem of a place!

Nice clean and friendly hotel. Food was fresh and plentiful with a good choice to choose from. Has a relaxing lounge area to chill out whilst looking over the pool and gardens. A good place to stay for couples wanting a break away from the \"madding croud\" but right on the beach!!

Perfect location by the sea.
The bed is very hard and missing a top madress. The cleaning was good in the room but please use cleaning soap without so much smell due allergy. The reception staff was sitting and looking the computer screen. Morning chef did not say hello. Big greetings to the morning Waiter, she was smiling and very friendly always.
No Wine glas in the room, neither at reception to borrow. The Walls are like paper and you Can hear your neighbour. Good transport service to airport. 22 e. Pool clean. Not 4 star comfort, more like 3. But we enjoyed our 4 days.

Hotel que fico todos os anos para o evento de kizomba, afro festival, e que eu e meus amigos ficamos nesse hotel precisamente por ser ao lado do hotel do evento, o Ms Amaragua, e ter passagem direta por uma porta de um hotel para o outro, mas que este ano fecharam esse acesso durante a noite a quem ficou no hotel, o que foi muito desagradável e deixou as pessoas que ficaram nesse hotel muito chateadas. Acho que não se faz. Assim perde o interesse se ficar nesse hotel em eventos futuros.

A destacar la ubicación en pleno paseo marítimo, motivo por el cual deberían cuidar un poco más las instalaciones que a pesar de conservar antigüedades que me encantan, en ciertos aspectos y servicios se han quedado muy obsoletos.
El personal de cocina y comedor en general bastante simpáticos y atentos, de recepción no puedo decir lo mismo.
La limpieza deja mucho que desear, a habido días que a las 14:00 horas seguía la habitación sin hacer, no digo que hagan limpieza a fondo, pero por el precio que se paga tendrían que esmerarse un poquito más, he pasado cinco días y desde el primero ha estado una patata debajo de las camas....
El desayuno está bastante bien, y la cena que es en el hotel amaragua genial, la diferencia de un hotel a otro es bastante notable.
La piscina es bastante tranquila, pero suele estar sucia y poco cuidada, es casi imposible encontrar hamaca libre porque la gente planta la toalla temprano y se va, cosa que no está permitida pero tampoco controlada, eso sin contar que la mitad de los que disfrutan de la piscina no son clientes del hotel, ya que la seguridad es totalmente pésima,las puertas de entrada están todo el día abiertas, no hay ningún tipo de control de las personas externas que entran en el recinto, lo que confiere muy poca seguridad en general, y más si vas con niños pequeños.
Mi opinión es que podían mejorar bastante, porque en relación calidad precio van muy raspados y se salva algo más gracias al hotel amaragua.

Nice hotel, near the beach. Hotel room not optional with a door between another room so you can hear the other quests in that room talking. I wanted the hotel room in a quiet are since my sister has problem with noisy places, but that was not noticed although I wrote to the hotel before arriving.

Hotel muy bonito pero un tanto antiguo tanto de aspecto como de mobiliario, el colchón fatal para un buen descanso... La limpieza regulera... Lo mejor que tiene que puedes acceder a las instalaciones del Amaragua y el personal de recepción amables. Aunque en el spa en mi opinión deberían de estar un poco más pendientes y dar vueltecitas de vez en cuando, te resbalas y allí no aparece ni dios, un niño jugando a la pelota con su madre en la piscina y las chavalas ni se coscaron.
Pero esta en un sitio espectacular... Volvería, porque todas esas cositas se pueden solucionar.

Tarvittavat hygieniatarvikkeet (hammasharja ja tahna, partakone, suihkumyssy, saippua, hiusharja) Rauhallinen sijainti. Muutaman metrin päässä rannasta. Siellä on uima-allas, koska hotelli on yhteydessä toiseen hotelliin, voit mennä toiselle uima-altaalle ja myös baariin tai ravintolaan. Haittoja on myös, esimerkiksi silitysrauta ja -lauta puuttuvat, mutta palvelua voi käyttää yhdistetyn hotellin kautta maksua vastaan vain klo 7.00-15.00, myös erittäin hidas WIFI. Alueen ja hotelliin baarit, ravintolat ja kaupat sulkeutuvat klo 00.00

El alojamiento, en general, bien, aunque es una pena que la parte de bar del MS Tropicana estuviese cerrada, teniendo que acudir a la del MS Amaragua. Los desayunos, servidos en el MS Tropicana, muy buenos y completos. Sin embargo, las cenas, que eran en el MS Amaragua, dejaban un poco que desear.

Gammelt og slitt hotell med \"verdens minste\" balkong på rom 412,var nok ikke 1,5 kvadrat engang!!!!!!Og ikke minst,det var fugler som dreit overalt,fytti rakker'n. Frokosten var helt grei \"hotellfrokost\" og middagen ble inntatt på nabohotellet Amaragua ettersom jeg hadde halvpensjon og buffeen der var mer enn \"godkjent\".Trivelige folk i resepsjonen som snakket engelsk,men ingen av\"stuepikene\"kunne et ord engelsk,bare \"abla espanol\",men sånn er det stort sett over alt i Spania,de later som ikke kan engelsk,bare for å unngå diskusjoner,det kaller jeg dårlig service!Blir ikke flere opphold på dette hotellet nei!!!!

Vi koste oss, og drar gjerne tilbake.

Hyggelig og hjelpsom betjening. Koselig hotell. Nydelig utsikt og god balkong. God frokost og herlig basseng. Lytt mellom rommene og bassenget kan være vanskelig å komme ut av for noen, da det har stiger. Vi kunne benytte fasilitetene på nabohotellet, som også er et MS hotell, og der var det trapper med gelender i bassenget. Så ikke noe stort problem. Og der er det og underholdning om kveldene. Kort vei til stranden og spisesteder, og veldig kort til den lille butikken.

Hotellet var stengt denne perioden e.l så vi fikk overnattet på et annet hotell i nærheten istedenfor (hotel ms amaragua). Veldig fint hotell, fint uteområde m/basseng, solsenger, 3 spiseområder tilsammen (super mat!), spa inkl. Husk 1€ til skapoppbevaring om du går på spa. Behagelige senger og ordentlige dyner (ikke bare laken). Hyggelig personale

Nu är det så att Hotell Tropicana är stängt och det borde ni veta. Vid ankomsten möts man av en lapp att man ska gå tio Hotell MS Amaragua som ligger bredvid. Vår taxi var kvar så vi slapp gå runt med väskorna.
Vi behövde inte betala extra sa kvinnan i receptionen och det är ju självklart vi inte skulle.
Vi hade beställt uhavsutsikt och mot poolen . Vi bodde på vån 4 och såg lite av havet. Allt var bra det är ett fint hotell men stort och lite opersonligt. Jätte fin frukostbuffé. Poolen var också fin och välskött.Men var kom alla dessa flugor ifrån.
Vi tyckte Tropicana såg fint ut när vi beställde , det är säkert samma ägare. Sista kvällen åt vi middag och såg på Flamenco show som var bra. 4 dagar med bara sol och bad det är väl Torremolinos recept. Tycker inte man skulle betala 6 EU för solstol på Beach platsen som hörde till hotellet.

Blev uppgraderad till det större hotellet bredvid utan extra kostnad. Troligen pga pandemin. Tropicana var stängt. Enda nackdelen var väl att vi inte fick veta det förrän vi var där, en lapp på ingången till Tropicana med anvisning till det andra hotellet och hur man skulle gå (nära).

Ej fyrstjärnigt hotell utan trestjärnigt

Perfekt läge, fint rum, balkong med fin utsikt. Frukosten bra. Vi hade halvpension och middagen var under all kritik. Kall överkokt och överstekt mat. Tips, ta inte halvpension. Generellt dålig service i restaurangen både vid frukost och middag. Personalen gjorde så gott de kunde men var alldeles för få, hann inte med, var superstressade.
