Bathroom not clean in the corner and skirting board of shower area and shower was dripping constantly when switched off..
Worst was that drilling and hammering sound like from builders working started very early..

Location was excellent. So close to the beach. The room was clean and the view of the beach was gorgeous. The only thing I would mention is that it is an older crowd and the staff seemed to cater to them. They weren’t as friendly or receptive when we asked questions. The cleaning staff was super friendly. Otherwise I would highly recommend this hotel. Room was comfortable and very clean. We had a car and parking was not included but you could park on the street for free. Buffet was included and it was great with a lot of choices. Pool area was large, clean and not short of loungers. Pool was not heated so water was cold this time of year. Loved our stay.

The property location and access to the beach is great. The rooftop is fantastic for the views, pool and bar service. There is a lot of food options in walking distance of the hotel.
The negatives of my stay were the air conditioner in my room was not working right, there was no remote for the ceiling fan, the toilet in our bathroom ran all the time and even the room telephone was not working. For the price of a stay here, these problems should not exist. Also, expect long waits for the elevators when the hotel is busy. The lifts are small and work by order of who pressed the call button first.

Good location across the street from the beach. Rooftop pool/bar nice as well. Not in downtown Malaga so you'd have to cab into old town area. Was perfect for our last night in the area and quick drive to airport next morning.

We were three adults in an junior executive suite, which was spacious and we loved the large balcony with great views of the sea. Property was modernised, food at breakfast was good, and the beach area was great.

Two things that were very annoying though: 1) the elevators in the main building! They were terrible. Very tiny, one wasn't working correctly, and they took forever. It comes across as an older building that was redone, but the elevators definitely need work. And the stairwell, which many people resort to, has carpet that's seen better days and looked terrible. And, 2) you have to pay €1 every time you want to exchange your beach towel for a clean one. I get being ecofriendly and eliminating people leaving towels around and constantly getting new ones. But, not automatically having a clean one for each day at the beach was rediculous and felt cheap. I'd much rather pay €5 more on the room then being charged every day for a clean towel that should be standard at a beach hotel. They don't dry overnight when they've been wet with saltwater. Yuck.

I think they need to update their hair dryers in the rooms. They are the worst and they destroy your hair. Also, eventhough we bought the meal package, they still charge $4.00 euros for water. The hotel itself is very nice. Not sure why they have to nickel and dime you.

Check for building works before you book

Mixed stay at the Melia. I have stayed at multiple Melia's and usually have a great time. I think if we'd just been there a couple of nights it would have been fine but a whole week was too long.
We stayed in May 2025 and there was renovation work going on, they are refurbishing the whole hotel. This is great but it's happening during the day, starting at 8am! So the Monday and Friday parts of our week were early starts, especially as we were right next to the rooms they were working on. So check with the hotel before you book as it's noisy and not relaxing in the slightest
On the plus side we were in a renovated room and it was very nice. Paper thin walls but this is a 1960's hotel that they've done up so to be expected. The other parts of the hotel are good too.
We upgraded to the LEVEL when we got there, I wouldn't really recommend this unless you get a good deal. Do not do it when you get there, it's not worth it. The LEVEL lounge and pool are very nice but that's all you really get. I don't think the upgraded room is worth it if you have a renovated room and the free snacks and drinks etc are definitely not worth the amount they charge each day unless you can drink EUR100 of spirits in 2 hours or lots of not very nice cava during the day. One very nice thing about the lounge was the breakfast, the main dining room was bedlam so to have a quiet space in the morning was good. All in all not my best Melia experience and I wouldn't go back

Great stay with sea view, some improvements needed

We stayed at the hotel for three nights as a couple, and overall, it was a good experience. The room was clean, and we had an amazing view from the balcony, especially since we were upgraded to a higher floor after requesting it. The mini fridge worked perfectly, and the beverage prices were reasonable. The reception staff was consistently friendly and polite, which made us feel welcome.

Our stay included breakfast, and it was great. We particularly liked that the coffee was served to the table. Some improvement could be done with the scrambled eggs, which was overly wet all mornings, and the sweet pastries were quite dry.

One issue we noticed was that the room doors could use better insulation. We could hear everything happening in the corridor, and the light from outside came through the door in the evening and at night, which disturbed the overall comfort.

Unfortunately, we also had a disappointing experience at the hotel’s other restaurant, The Beach, located across the road. On our first night, the waitress left our table mid-sentence twice when we were trying to ask something or just engage in friendly small talk. This made us feel unwelcome, which was disheartening, especially at the start of our holiday. Of course we understand when it’s busy but there was barely anyone there that night.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the hotel and would recommend it, but we suggest improving the room insulation and working on customer service at The Beach.

From day one we had problems, key wouldn’t work to get into room had 5 different keys reception gave the same excuse everyday in the end just gave up as was fed up with , balcony door was broken so you couldn’t lock it, outside light didn’t work for the first week and also ants in the bathroom waste of my money this place was £2700 spent I would expect a lot more and one member of staff on reception called Victoria was not a nice person when I tried to complain about the door key for the 8th day in a row, she talks down to you and try’s to play it out. Will not be pay this much again to stay at a place that’s over priced for what you get.

We booked 5 nights in the Melia for our Mini Moon.
I had advised the hotel this was the reason for our stay, thus I felt a welcome drink or congratulations would have been given on arrival.
I was a bit disappointed that the occasion didn't seem that special. I had booked the hotel based on feedback from family and also friends who said the staff were so friendly and had given complimentary drinks for an anniversary and birthday.
We are going on our main Honeymoon to Dubai and Thailand and I really hope we are greeted with a more welcoming reception than what we received at the Melia.

Amazing location to the beach. The room vas on top of the hotel garbage collection entrance so every morning you heard the beeping sound of the trucks. Was impossible to leave the window open sleeping. It's a very busy hotel, when I tried to feedback to staff I needed to wait in line in the reception so I gave up. My friend forgot the credit card in the hotel bar, next day got it safely, amazing hotel stuff. Amazing walkable distance to the beach. Don't rely on the pool, it is very small. Great cleaning team, always spotless results. Good breakfast buffet.

Mostly good for our short winter break.

There was a problem when we first arrived to check-in - our booking did not appear to be in their system - however this was eventually sorted out (took about 20 minutes) and we were given an upgraded room. After that all was mostly good. Room and bathroom were good size, with comfortable bed - though air conditioning didn’t seem to work well / at all for cooling, so it was uncomfortably hot at night (and this was January). Restaurant had good choice for breakfast & dinner (buffet), though food was not always very warm. On-site parking (we pre-booked) was easy & reasonably priced. Lounge bar had nightly entertainment (though didn’t begin until 9.30pm). Spa massage treatment was great, but does need to be booked a day or so ahead. Staff friendly & helpful.

Property was very clean, foyer and level nicely decorated and presented, room dated bathroom and bedroom could do with being refurbished. The level was not manned on a regular basis, tv in bedroom did not work no signal reported this to staff on numerous occassions. Food at lunch time in main menu always cold not a great variety to choose from either. The snacks on the level very basic not much to choose from. Entertainment very good, staff at main reception, bar and food staff very pleasant and helpful, found one member off staff on the level very unhelpful quite dismissive and could not get away from you quick enough. This is the third Melia hotel i have stayed in and would have to say it does not compare to the others.

Decent hotel however we came for a spa break. The spa is only open Wednesday-Sunday which we didn’t know. Also it closes at 2pm until 4pm. You are unable to use the spa facilities for the whole day which when you go out of season would have been nice considering the outside pools are not heated. Breakfast had plenty of choice. Dinner time was disappointing as was also a buffet and the food quality was not great. We ate out for dinner. Bar was nice however it was very cold throughout the days and nights with heating only going on one night in the bar. Staff however were lovely and room was good. Would look at staying somewhere else next time due to some of these reasons.
