This hotel although a little dated had excellent facilities and good food.
Be careful if you like an early night as we were in a junior suite which was right on top of the bar. The noise went on a little too late for us on a few nights. The entertainment stopped at 11.45 but the people didn't 😊

The staff was great at this hotel. They were helpful and friendly. The breakfast was really good and had a lot of options. The pool is really nice, and this hotel is right on the beach! The beach was amazing, and we walked back and forth between the pool & beach all day long. Also - Stephanie at the spa gives great massages! We took a taxi from the train station for $31 (Euro).

Very disappointed, the hotel was extremely noisy late into the early hours of the morning throughout or stay, due to a Salsa event being hosted by the hotel, which we were not made aware of at the time of booking.

The event also took over the MS Tropicana Beach Club during the entire time of our stay, which made it impossible for us to enjoy this facility, due the the sheer numbers of people attending the event and the noise being created.

This 4 day break was meant to be a relaxing time for my wife, who has recently lost her father, quite to the contrary we hardly slept due the the noise and were not able to make use the hotel facilities. During the day we sort to move well away from the hotel and spend time on the beach some distance from the Hotel MS Amaragua, so as to get some peaceful relaxation.

Could I suggest that when accepting a booking, that you make people aware of this type of event would be taking place during their stay and that they may be inconvenienced or impacted by it in some way.

I look forward to your response.

Great location, lovely hotel

The hotel is beautiful with a real spa sense from the minute you walk in. The facilities and location are excellent and the cleanliness is amazing. The beach and surrounding area is also very clean and there is loads to do. Great location for anyone with mobility issues as everything is flat.

My only fault is with the staff around the pool, who leave little notes on sun loungers if you leave them for any length of time. We were sitting at a table 6ft behind our loungers having a cup of coffee at the pool bar, and came back to a note on the bed saying not to reserve beds. This was very cheeky as we hadn’t left the pool area at all. This would actually put me off staying in the hotel as this is no way to treat guests who are not abusing the facilities. The pool lifeguard seemed to take great pleasure in walking around issuing these little cards.

We loved all the amenities such as the pool, sauna, breakfast buffet, restaurants, and lounge. It was nice to be so close to the beach and there was lots to see and do close by. The only negatives were that it was very loud from our room as we were right by the stairs and elevator. Also, the hot tub was not very hot. Aside from that everything was great!

Rooms need upgrading. Requested a walk in shower due to mobility issues & on check in Man laughed at me. Very rude. My husband’s Birthday and our anniversary the only hotel we have stayed in that did not acknowledge it. Very convenient to promenade. Bar staff at pool ignored me for 10 minutes and I just walked away 3 other people in Queue.

The hotel is getting a bit dated the breakfast was not hot and the coffee machine are useless . There is a lot of choice if you like cake cheese and large lumps of fruit . Didn’t like the balcony in the room felt dangerous and a long way down .

The Hotel is Beautiful, Our room had partial view but we could see the beach very well. Our Bed was massive abd very comfy. some off the older morning staff were very Grumpy, Breakfast was Wonderful with a huge selection, The pool area looks over the beach which is on the door step. lovely potion to walk along the sea front . will Definitely stay there again.
NEGATIVE no iron or Board (they have a laundry service which isnt cheap) and no Tea/coffee facilities other wise we would absolutely Recommend!!!

A typical 70s hotel and was probely ok in the 70s , but is not up to modern standards, the room was exceptionally clean but very dated and in need of refreshment. The pool area was poor with uneven Brocken tiles and steps every where, the pool was not big enough to serve the two hotels that it does and there were insufficient sun beds. The pool bar was extortionate expensive and full of our friends from the farther land! . If you want style, comfort , and relaxation - look elsewhere.

Smelly, dark dingy room. Uncomfortable bed. One night stay which was enough. Arrived at 1100 and not an inch to spare around the pool. It’s far too small for the size of the hotel. Can’t imagine how awful would have been in the height of summer. Much safer by the beach. However, when choosing a hotel you go for the amenities and don’t therefore expect to have to go elsewhere and pay.

We were at Amaragua during the second half of January when things are quiet and the guests are mostly retired Scandinavians. We were most satisfied with all aspects of the hotel service. Good buss connections to towns on the coast.

This is an old hotel full of quaint furnishings in main areas. Our room had a fabulous side sea and mountain view but the decor was dark and drab, although spotlessly clean, maid service everyday.
Agree with previous reviews about the food being cold in the restaurant, I spoke with the restaurant manager and they are well aware that this is a problem for some guests, but the food was excellent, and the restaurant was always busy.
Excellent position on seafront, we would like to return but would stay bed and breakfast, not half board.

Another great stay at a perfect position for a hotel right on the sea front. Excellent staff and service in all areas of the hotel from the reception staff to the bar staff especially Sara who was spot. We went for a short break the room we had was a good size but a little dated it was spotless. The bathroom had all the toiletries we needed and the towels were luxurious. The restaurant had a perfect position over looking the sea.We will definitely be returning

We asked for the air con to be fixed as 1,2,& 3 strength we’re all the same, it didn’t get done. Then one evening after 8pm while we were out for some reason our shower had been changed no explanation but it wasn’t fixed to the wall & we had to hold it, 3 days we waited after 2 days complaining it wasn’t on, we were in a delux room. Fantastic location, biggest decision each day - pool or beach? Three of us stayed for a long weekend in a triple room at front of hotel. No noise from road, room spotlessly clean and plenty big enough for the three of us, plenty of storage space and hangers.
Staff all very accommodating and helpful even if appearing a little brusque at times.
Breakfast selection was vast and really offers something for everyone including sugar and gluten free.

The property is nice. It’s in a good location to the beach and about 15 minute from the airport. Rooms are a bit dated but do the job. Didn’t try the food. Drinks were nice. Gym is extremely limited, with a very long unnecessary process for using the it. It’s also VERY warm in the gym and no water available.

We were there for 9 nights starting on June 2nd. Overall a nice hotel with a very good location. We had the half board option for meals which was convenient but slightly repetitious during our stay. We found there was no \"special\" meals offered at any point, just the same usual choices. Another odd aspect of the dining room was the drink options at dinner time with wine being strongly suggested, but sometimes we didn't want to have any alcohol, but were still forced to pay for a bottle of water if we wanted just a glass of that. We had also paid extra for a front sea view room, which we received and the view was very good. However, our room (#524) had a very foul sewage smell to it every time you turned on the air conditioner. I could only guess that the air intake on the roof was mounted too close to a sewer vent and was sucking it into the HVAC system. We decided to forgo the AC and avoid it, rather than shuffle rooms. Besides, it was so bad, the housekeeping personnel were aware of it and I'm sure previous guests must have mentioned it as well to the front desk. The ocean breeze and the ambient temperatures were comfortable anyways. Overall, we would still recommend the Amaragua as a convenient hotel to stay at.

Hotel when you walk in very glamorous but grounds dated sunbeds so uncomfortable they need cushions on if you could get a bed people were
putting towels on beds as early as 4.30 am going down to breakfast was madness we couldn't find a table empty tables not being cleared quick
queuing to get a cup of tea or coffee your best to wait till after 10.00am
service in outside bar bad and some staff miserable and rude one evening we had our drinks slammed on the table but then the entertainments fellow came along CARLOS and he did cheer the place up we payed a lot of money to stay here but sadly will not be going back

We had a short notice 2 night stay at the Amaragua to attend a funeral in the area. The hotel was very clean and comfortable and extremely good value. Breakfast was buffet style with a good range of choice. Service was excellent with friendly and helpful staff. I left my phone in the room upon checkout which was retrieved by staff and passed to a friend shortly afterwards. Very good service indeed. I'd recommend the hotel unreservedly.

Great location, really nice staff, the only negatives were the room stank of smoke (we had requested non smoking) and the bed was rock hard. Hotel was mainly much older people which we didn't mind but if you are below 35 this may put you off. The only other thing to be aware of is that people smoke everywhere and for non smokers it's really unpleasant having a meal with smokers all around you.

What I like about the property is the reception, gym, sunna, jacuzzi, pool at the back of the hotel which is facing the beach and light out side at night, changes the whole atmosphere at night; also the weekend music

What I do not like was the stand of the bed were single mental which was not firm on the floor therefore making lots of movement.
The bath was too short small, never a thing like it. I guess it was meant to fit in just a baby. I could not have a bubble bath or soak myself in it.

Comfortable, good location but little 'WOW' factor

Seems to be an older clientele. Rooms clean and fresh towels almost daily. Limited gym and male and female saunas separate. Lack of staff in dining hall at breakfast and dinner so queues which was annoying.

Range of food but they cater for gluten free and sugar free. Though limited.

The pizza looked charcoalled and depends on chef as to what the eggs were like.

Good central location to explore Torremolinos (an olde world type of town though very gay orientated) and nearby Benalmedena. Fuengirola and Malaga easy by train. Approx 4.10 euros. Bus about the same.

In short, comfortable but little 'wow' factor.

Standards have definitely slipped at the Amaragua since our last stay. Charged a €10 deposit for a towel at the spa and was advised that a fee of €1 would be applied for a towel change. The bed was very hard and the standard of food rather poor and repetitive. Reception staff were excellent however, there were several inexperienced bartenders who struggled to prepare basic cocktails and the waiting staff in the restaurant appeared to be constantly under pressure. The Amaragua’s location is ideal, particularly for people with enhanced mobility needs. Sadly, based on our most recent experience it is unlikely that we will return to the Amaragua.

Perfect location, bedrooms need updating!

We stayed at The Amaragua for three nights and overall had a great time. The location is perfect, the hotel pool area was spotlessly clean and gardens well maintained. Also couldn’t fault breakfast - so much choice and good quality too. We had hot stone massages in the spa - also perfect.

I just feel let down by a few small details - there were cigarette butts in our balcony when we arrived and the room wasn’t very clean which was disappointing. Also the wardrobe was falling apart inside (could see the brick and pipes behind!). This was promptly ‘fixed’ but didn’t last long. Our biggest concern was the beds. They were so firm - in fact they were rock hard! I genuinely couldn’t have slept there more than three nights! If you suffer any sort of back problems, please avoid!

Oh - and you’ll have to get up really early if you want a sunbed in a good spot - towels ‘reserving’ them for hours before anyone appears - big pet peeve of mine!

The reception staff were extremely helpful and accommodating. The hotel overall has a lovely ambiance. My only critique is that the breakfast could do with more variety. It was big on carbs, processed meats and cheese. There were also several containers of cereal. The fruit selection was relatively limited. Otherwise it was made to order omelets. I would have preferred Iberian ham, more fruit and things like cottage cheese. After four days it got fairly boring. Also, the hotel needs to be aware of problems with the coffee machines. One morning I gave up trying to get coffee because several of the machines weren't working. It created long lines.

A Fantastic hotel

This was my second stay in the hotel. Check in was efficient despite being busy. Our room was ready for us at midday.
The breakfast was great - plenty of choice and chefs were on hand to cook eggs to your preference. It was also calm - unlike other large hotels in the area.
The rooms were spacious also and the hotel was spotless.

BUT the room was extremely loud on the top floor as I think it was next to the main air conditioning unit. The indoor pool was supposed to have massage jets and none were working. Why are the sauna and Turkish baths separated by gender, surely if you're on a couple break, you would want to spend the time together?

Very noisy hotel, rude reception staff

The hotel is in a great location, close to the beach, restaurants and within walking distance of Benalmadena and Torremolinos.

Unfortunately the hotel was extremely noisy and I was unable to sleep and relax during my 11 nights stay. There was very loud and poor quality live music every each single night from 9pm-midnight. There was also a lot of noise coming from the hotel's restaurant and from the vans which were loading/unloading deliveries very early in the morning. The reception staff were very rude, miserable and unhelpful. This was a disappointing experience and so I will not return to this hotel.

Easy access to promenade and beach

My grand daughter and I arrived at approx 10pm on Monday evening, and after a short wait were checked in by a male receptionist. I decided to purchase the use of the room safe, and after signing a slip was given a gadget to go into the safe to make it usable. Besides the daily rate, I paid a 10 euro deposit. unfortunately, when checking out and to hand in the safe gadget and reclaim my deposit I was asked to hand over the slip of paper I signed. I WAS NOT GIVEN A COPY!! The female receptionist was very haughty, and after a cursory look for the hotels pink copy, she couldn't find one for our room and all but called us liars. Why would I, a seventy year old grandma and my 15 year old granddaughter try and swindle the hotel out of ten euros? Rather than look at our integrity I would have thought it more apt to question the integrity of the night receptionist. Our stay was marred by this incident and I will certainly not return.

Lovely Location

We decided to spend Christmas in the Hotel Amaragua, what a fantastic location, easy walk to Belamadena and right on the beach. The hotel is very clean and the staff very helpful. To be honest there was no faults with the location or hotel. The weather was very warm so spending christmas day on the beach was a bonus. Easy transfer from the airport would highly recommend this hotel.

very average

We were not given the room type we booked which were double room for single occupancy so had to sleep in single beds. The sideview of the sea is was obscured by a huge brick wall in the room first offered which I refused.

The buffet meals were so self service the staff would bring nothing to the table for you - not even fresh cutlery - but simply directed you to the open drawer where the clean cutlery was.

I would not rate this hotel above a very average 3 star. Disappointing. If you have an option - stay somewhere else!

The only thing I can fault with this hotel is the WiFi. low speed best I saw was 54meg and 2 bars. very intermittent, dropped out regularly.
Would this stop me from coming back here. absolutely not, excellent location, Staff, Facilities.
On 2nd day we had our grandaughter stay over so Mum and Dad could celebrate their wedding anniversary.
Bed all made up with her own towel, soap, shower gel etc on the day ready for her stay. all removed the following day when we were at the pool..
Hotel own space on beach with sunbeds, but we stayed around the pool.

Foul smelling bedroom and communal toilets

Extremely rude and unhelpful reception staff. Manager was professional and helpful. Air conditioning was inefficient and foul smelling.
Breakfast good. Pool good. These did not compensate for the front line staff attitude which was especially shocking and disappointing. I hope these comments will lead to training of front line reception staff in basic hospitality skills and attitude. I have never experienced such rudeness in a hotel before, having travelled widely (Ireland, UK, Spain, Portugal, France, Holland, USA, Canada).

First rate but with deficiencies

Classy hotel with good restaurant facilities, pool, terrace etc. Small grumbles: my room had no carpet, no view, no coffee machine, no kettle, no suitcase stand, minimal pillow, hard bed, no wall art, and the wifi didn't work the whole time I was there.
