The room was well maintained and excetionaly clean. Parking was good and the wi-fi reliable. The staff did not know the wrd no, everything was yes and attended to. The staff should be commended, they are an example of the service of the past that is seldom seen today. I can not say enough about them. We had a stay that most properties only dream of providing.

My wife and I do not recommend staying here and won't be back. The accommodations felt less like a hotel, and more like a hostel. Small room with 2 beds barely fitting in a room and a very small bathroom. It was stuffy in the room, and we had to run 3 fans in order to cool it off. There we no amenities in the room that was too small. There is no air conditioner. Air temp outside was 75-85 in the afternoon. One of the inexpensive fans had a broken stand that needed to be replaced. We did not have a container for ice. They provided us 2 plastic sandwich bags when asked for a container. We used the rooms small garbage bucket for ice. We could not open window blinds because the lights from the road shined into the room The corner room was closest to the road noise on Hwy 89. The resort does not charge to park at the hotel but charges $12 for parking near the beach even though the hotel is a part of the resort property. The pictures of the bar in the advertising give the impression of beach access from the hotel but the bar is a long walk from the hotel across the property. Rather than pay the additional $12, i carried my inflatable kayak to the beach area. We did not feel comfortable asking the staff to change the room even though the hotel was half empty. We feel this resort hotel is a misleading ripoff and hope this review dissuades some from visiting or for the property to upgrade their rooms and ammenities.

My experience here was really well. The staff there were great and greeted me and my wife happily, even though it was late. They made sure we had everything to get settled in. Parking was good and we like that we can just walk down to the shore from the hotel. It was a really great stay.

Rooms and property are very clean. Seems like “staff parking” is larger than the guest parking so could be tricky getting a space near the actual hotel. Keep in mind walls are thin, so if you’re looking for a quiet night just know you’re at the mercy of your neighbor. Wifi was great, nice and fast, no buffering. Complementary ice water available all day, coffee in the morning and an ice machine was a great touch! Walking distance to the general store, ice cream shop and coffee shop. The lake is about a 7 minute walk, and has a nice paved path for bikes and walkers.

The standard room with the queen sized bed is VERY small, and does not contain a microwave or mini fridge or any means of storing food. We were a little disappointed to realize that breakfast is not included, you will have to eat out with every single meal. I’ve stayed at Super 8s for much cheaper that included breakfast!

The property itself is lovely, the beach area is awesome and the main lobby has a nice fireplace. The hottub needed some maintenance— it foamed up like crazy when I turned the jets on.

Overall the stay was nice but not awesome. I wish breakfast was included.

The super-friendly staff went way out of their way to make sure I knew how to get into my room, as I was arriving very late.
Large property with many different accomodations options. I stayed in the historic Hotel, a beautifully furnished old lodge building with a big stone fireplace radiating warmth and flickering firelight. The hotel room itself was simple (who actually needs a tv or refrigerator?), but charming, perfectly clean, well-maintained, and cozy warm. (The photos of the room online don't do it justice!)
Parking is right next to the Hotel buliding--very convenient!

The check in process was so easy so I appreciate that. But I felt like the room was a little dirty. There was chewed up gum on our door knob to the bathroom and the side of the wall so that was a little gross. And it was a little off putting that you could hear the other room going to the bathroom. I would definitely stay in the cabin part of the camp but not the motel part.

The location was great, it was in front of the lake, very beautiful. The room itself was one that none of us wanted to stay in again. The bed was shaky, and it barely had amenities, such as no microwave. Plus staff was too busy to accommodate the kids Camp, and always had to wait. When we asked new towel, the staff told me come back in another hour, but we were about to go to the hot tub, so we needed them at that moment, plus the front desk was far, so we needed to drive there… if they are so busy with the camp, why don't they hire extra stuff to deal with…

The room was clean and comfortable and check in was friendly. I loved the lobby! There's a fireplace and it feels like a cozy ski lodge. The only downside was that it was a bit loud because all the hallways are wood, so sound echoes. The other guests were not too loud, but I could hear people coming and going.

The place was immaculate. We arrived to check in just before 6 pm. Nobody was at the front desk and there was a note that someone would return at 6:15. When the girl arrived, she was rushed, made excuses for not being there and did not have a pleasant attitude. I didnt even have to express my annoyance that we had to wait because she was already making excuses.

Probably the best part of the stay was the friendly staff and the Big Bear breakfast burritos. I stayed at the Beachside Inn which was nice since I had easy access to the long dock, which allowed me to get on the water without being in the water. Staying right on the lakeshore provided amazing photo opportunities in the early morning.

Ive been coming to Camp Rich for 68 years. Ive stayed in many cabins from Nash to Fleetwood. to the Marina Duplex and my favorite, Buick, to camping and the lodge. Im not happy about the new registration policy, as we'd been coming the last 2 weeks in July as a family with a group. This year we came in August. (Which is fine with me- i like being in Tahoe in August), but nexr year its around July 4th. Not thrilled with that. However, Camp Rich is a very special place fir my family. Our group is now on the 4th generation (in my family it is the 5th generation), so it is a tradition. And this year i had a blast. I have no complaints about the service or accommodations. I know what im getting when i come here. I stayed in Nash with my son's family for 2 days and despite the small shower, i spent so little time inside, i was just happy to be here. And this year my sister, who lives in Maine, and i havent seen her in 24 years, plus the 50 year anniversary of our Margaritta party, made this an especialkt epic summer at Camp Rich.

The area is beautiful and provides easy access to the lake and mountain activities. The issue is with the facility itself. Four night stay with only one of those providing hot water. Cold showers aren’t the end of the world but I expected more. The hotel has no a/c services so you hope having wide open windows would bring in some cool air. Unfortunately, the room would get really hot during the day and didn’t really cool down until after 10 pm each night. Perhaps the idea was hot rooms and cold showers would balance each other out. If that’s not your idea of a good time then definitely look elsewhere.

1st of all, there are no air conditioner in the room , they provide small fan which is hard to get in straight, Wi-Fi sucks, no hot water, no phone line to connect with employees, no room cleaner. It’s a terrible experienced in the hotel.

The carpet in our unit 103 was so filthy that my feet or socks were black if I dared walk like that. It’s next to the housekeepers closet and for 5 days we had to hear them open and slam the door at 6 am plus yapping loudly! This morning we woke up at 5 am with some kind of varmit crawling thur our bags. No idea how it got in or out. And $900 for a dump like this is insane. The parking lot is dangerous with big holes and uneven service on the entire thing. Anyone over 55 should not stay here. I let the front desk know about the room and she’s a college kid most likely so that went nowhere. I’ve been a therapist for 3O yrs and would go to companies, homes and businesses to evaluate their safety standard and this place would rate needing serious changes. I’d be surprised if someone hasn’t been hurt and sued them!!

Camp Richardson is a true historic Lake Tahoe treasure. The property is very family friendly from the beautiful beachfront to rustic cabins to walkable paths to bike rentals to a sweet ice cream coffee parlor as well as a well equipped General Store with convenient eatery. The cabins are truly no frills rustic, but equipped with the basics. The Historic Hotel is comfortable with clean rooms and a cozy lodge lobby. This was our families fourth summer enjoying a Lake Tahoe vacation. The kids love Camp Richardson for beach and proximity to exploring outdoors, so looks like we’ll be booking our 5th soon.

We had a good stay at Camp Richardson hotel. The hotel has a great history and a beautiful common area as part of the hotel. The rooms are small and because it’s very old, the hallway upstairs is narrow and the doors have a knob lock and slider lock from the inside. There are rooms downstairs accessible by a ramp. There is good storage in the room but the bathroom had no counter storage and shower pressure was not good. No TV. Hot tub is nice. Hotel is just a short walk to the beach and The Grove Restaurant. The general store, coffee shop and ice cream store are all next door or across the street.

As a solo traveler, I felt completely safe during my stay. The location was great, the staff was friendly, my room at the hotel was decently sized with a big closet, and private bathroom. The bed was a little too firm for my liking but it was acceptable. I had a street facing room and had my windows open at night. I did wake up quite a bit due to traffic noise. Other than that, it was a comfortable stay and I would stay here again.

I was looking forward to staying here because it was very close to the lake. However the facility was very disappointing. The carpet all over the facility including the bedrooms is beyond filthy. I had to make sure my family had sandals at all times. The bedding had blood stains and were not very white or clean looking. However what was most disappointing is that they had no power outlets in the bathroom for a blow dryer or hot tools. Every morning I had to go downstairs to do my hair in the lobby bathroom. Not to mention no TV, no iron or board. Extremely disappointed with this Hotel especially the cleaning and lack of basics.We booked for 3 nights and we could only bare to stay there for 2, so we left only. I truly do not recommend this place unless they spend time on renovations on some basic necessities.

We stayed here 3 nights and the location is amazing. It is quiet and walking distance to beach. There is a cute ice cream shop across street and lots of eating options down the road as well as the grove on the beach property. I am from Texas and when I found out the hotel does not have air conditioning that was a little shock. But the lady at the front gave us an extra fan to put in window ( which helped a lot)
We would definitely go back and try one of the cabins on property next time! Also they have free coffee (no breakfast) and a nice hot tub!

We had a room down by the beach. We stayed from Friday - Monday. There was live music in the afternoons on Friday-Sunday. You are right next to the beach and as such, we had a lot of traffic to/from the beach. It was very quiet overnight, but traffic started to the beach as soon as the sun came up. The room was OK. Bedding was clean, but the floors were very dirty. Like keep your shoes on dirty…. Check-in was great. Front desk was professional and helpful. If you want a room RIGHT ON THE BEACH, with with live music during the day, this is a good option. If you want clean floors and room amenities,

The property is great, it is secluded and in a beautiful part of Lake Tahoe. The lakefront is stunning, great views.
The staff at the resort are a bit lacklustre. In the two days we were there we asked for a hair dryer, did not receive one. Also, the towels weren't changed and the bed was not made up when we came back in the evening on the second day.
Overall nice, clean place to stay. Service leaves a lot to be desired.

The Historic Camp Richardson Hotel provided a no frills single room with simple rustic decor. The bedroom was clean, had newly updated bathroom essentials, new floors, and zero musty smells.

The great room was definitely inviting with it’s large fireplace, rich colors, large furniture great for lounging, playing board games or reading a book.

The lake shore was an easy walk from the hotel as was the restaurant with good food, an incredible view and great service. The general store was just steps away with a small cafe serving yummy snacks, small meals, and was stocked with touristy gifts, some food essentials, and toiletries.

Every staff member was pleasant and helpful.

My friends and I paid the same price for a single room, but their rooms came with a mini fridge, a desk, a chair, and noticeably more space. Ours had none of those. More importantly, our room DO NOT have hot water for bathing, which was extremely inconvenient and unacceptable. we have to get cleaning using bathroom sink. That alone is the main reason I’m leaving this review. We expected basic amenities and were let down.

Cabin like feel in a hotel. No tv in rooms which was refreshing. You can hear people walking around and showers starting up from other rooms but the building is 100 years old so that’s to be expected. Bed was comfortable and rooms were warm. We loved it and got what we were looking for. Everyone was so kind and the beautiful fireplace in the lobby is a great feature onsite to sit around. Free WiFi and not too far from the lake. We will definitely stay here again.

Loved being next to The Grove. It was wonderful retreat. There were some bugs in my room but it’s close to nature what did I expect but in case someone forgets that too be warned. Other than that loved walking to the General Store and can’t wait to come back.
