The hotel is competitively priced, recently renovated, clean, and just a two minute walk from the bus stop used by the airport bus. Playa de Postiguet and the railway station are each about a 20 minute walk, everything else is within 5-10 minutes, such as the market and any city centre shop that you might need. The check-in desk answered all my queries quickly and accurately. We were given single rooms which were at the back of the hotel and were therefore away from street noise. I found this ideal for a one night stop after an evening flight.

Solo trip in one bed room

I was staying in one bed room at my solo trip. The room is nice and it had all the things I needed. The room is cleaned everyday. The location of this hotel is perfect. Everything is close by walk. Spar market is close too. The room is right up the street level so you will hear some traffic noises. Some mornings you can hear the personnel (or guests?) talking in the hallway so it can wake you up. The room temperature was quite perfect, because of the air conditioning.

Access to tea cofee facilies from reception (evening time only) Good double glazing kept room quiet, fan to regulate temperature.
The hotel offers various breakfast deals, depending on how much or how little breakfast you want and prices vary accordingly. I thought was good value and competitive prices.

Hotel céntrico, bien comunicado. La habitación y el baño amplios, todo limpio y funcional. El único pero del que no tiene culpa el hotel (lo deben sufrir casi todos los hoteles de la ciudad) es la normativa tan permisiva en la semana de fiestas de Las Hogueras de Alicante que permiten discotecas móviles por toda la ciudad hasta altas horas de la madrugada impidiendo el descanso. Por suerte en nuestro caso sólo afectó al último día.
El personal del hotel muy amable y la cafetería para desayunar pequeña pero muy tranquila. Como el buffet nos parecía caro nos decantamos por un desayuno Express a precio normal.

The room was amazing and spacious, was really clean and comfortable. Perfect location and only a few minutes walk to the beach, high street and many restaurants. Feels very safe and very friendly staff. However as a Brit we are not use to the heat so air conditioning would of been nice instead of stuck on heat mode at 16 degrees however with the windows open it let in a nice airflow but abit noisy without the shutter down.

A gem of a hotel in Alicante city centre.

This hotel is right in the centre of Alicante. Not far from the bus and train station, and the tram station is just up the road, where you can catch the tram as far up the coast as Denia. The express bus to and from the airport stops almost right outside the hotel and only takes 20 minutes, and there are lots of local bars and restaurants within walking distance.
If you need to stay in Alicante, this hotel is perfect. Central, clean and comfortable, and at a very reasonable price for a city centre hotel. Rooms have a fridge in it, so you can keep your own drinks cold and the staff are friendly and fantastic.
If you are looking at staying in Alicante, this should be your “go to” hotel.

Great location by the Central Market and less than 10 minutes from the waterfront. There is a Mercadona Express supermarket immediately opposite which is also handy. The train station is 10 minutes along the road and the nearest tram stops about 5 minutes away. Staff are helpful.

Was ok for a city hotel, no view & no where to relax unless you want to sit right inside the front door. Clean & tidy & central to everything. This is a well positioned hotel close to bars, restaurants and tourist attractions. The central market is only a few hundred metres away as is the bus stop for the airport bus. The hotel is small, modern and equipped with all your needs. Reception staff are friendly and efficient. Breakfast is available but we chose to eat in a nearby restaurant. There are coffee making facilities and a computer in the lobby. This is hotel is excellent value for money. I would definitely stay here again in the future.

I was a solo traveller and only booked in for one night. I had a back of hotel double room, not a great view but very quiet. Girl on reception was very friendly and helpful. An ideal location on a very busy road, lots of local restaurants so did not eat at the hotel. The free wifi gave very good reception in the room. Also just a few yards from the bus stop for the airport. When i next stay in Alicante will probably use this Hotel again.

The hotel was perfect, close to shops and train station, we slept on a very comfortable bed and the hotel staff were also very polite, the only criticism I have is before booking I looked at the hotel pictures and im sure the selection of breakfast offered was larger than what they had when we were there, im sure the hotel must have a reason for this otherwise I would think that the article is misleading....

Nice hotel, nothing fancy. Has great air conditioning and a good shower. Bed was pretty comfortable with extra pillows and blanket available in the room. Fair amount of noise heard from the hallways and sometimes other rooms, but overall not too bothersome. Walking distance to everything... beach, restaurants, train station and shops all close by. I’d stay again!

It's 7 floors high in a main thoroughfare of Alicante but feels like a family hotel. This is due to the exceptional staff, who clearly love their jobs, a rarity in many hotels, always there to assist. The rooms were basic in decoration, functional and above all QUIET as a business hotel should be. Plus the breakfast buffet run by an efficient, smiling hostess was my daily start over my 7 day stay. El Corte Ingles across the road and the famous Mercado a few blocks down, a perfect location for the castle, beach and restaurants. 5 Star.

Two nights in Alicante

I was spending two days in Alicante visiting friends. This was my first visit to La City Mercado. It's located very conveniently in the centre, but also a short walk from the Old City where there's a restaurant for everyone. Check-in was quick and very pleasantly handled. The room (201) was spotlessly clean and bright, consisting of two single beds pushed against each other. The only real issue is that, for me, the TV on the wall facing the bed is too high and was a little uncomfortable to watch. The bed was OK and I slept well. I found the gadget for controlling the temperature in the room a bit baffling and gave up on it, but the room was OK for me. The bathroom was also perfectly clean except for some dark marks on the grouting at the bottom of the shower. The shower itself was really good and powerful. There was soap, shampoo and bath gel provided. This is a good, seemingly new, hotel in a great location, if you don't mind the fact that the noise from the street can be intrusive.

This is a small city hotel. It is very smart and clean. The reception is very friendly and helpful. It is Ideally located for a \"city break\". It is on a main thoroughfare in Alicante. It is five minutes walk to the tramline terminus that operates all the way from Alicante to Denia. It is a five minute walk to the airport bus stop. It is ten minute walk to the beach and marina. Under ten minutes to old town buzzing with bars and restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed it.

Good location and pleasant.

Comfortable, modern and clean but small and pricey for what it is. Most of the receptionists were friendly and helpful. The location is central and within walking distance to the major sights. I had a rather grandly titled courtyard room which looked onto nothing but steep walls. However, situated at the back of the hotel, it was quiet and away from the noisy street at the front of the hotel, making for restful sleep. The hotel is on the same street as the C6 airport bus, with a stop 2-3 minutes walk away.

Quiet hotel in central Alicante- convenient for ev

Stayed for five very pleasant nights in April.

Went to other La City hotel in Alicante first , but staff kindly directed me to Mercado which is in a perfect location, right in centre amongst cafes and shops.

I had a courtyard room but Mark very kindly swapped me to a room looking into very busy but not noisy city street. Mark also spoke to me in Spanish - so many Spaniards swap to English making it very hard to practice the language.

Hotel is small, only four rooms on each floor, very quiet and very clean.
Good breakfast served by lovely Spanish lady.

Only criticism is that it's a (quite fantastic) shower and I like a bath, so no criticisms at all.

Hotel itself looks very new, modern, clean and well maintained. The breakfast buffet was also great. The problem we had was the room was excessively warm as the AC was shut off and the heat couldn't be adjusted. Our window was very large but couldn't be left open overnight due to the (busy) street noise. Front desk person initially was indifferent but she finally offered a table fan when we reminded her that online reviews say a lot.

Air conditioning didn't work because the central heating system was on heating mode which couldn't be changed. I had to leave the hotel because the room was to warm in order to sleep there. Breakfast buffet was disappointing.

Booked for a short break end of February. Very nice budget hotel, well maintained spotlessly clean, daily maid service, safe, fridge. TV with limited English language channels. Room overlooked main road so traffic noise early morning; if you are a light sleeper perhaps a room at the rear would be preferable. Small cafe bar for breakfast but we didn't use it preferring to find coffee bars in the side streets. Staff excellent from arrival to departure. Another hotel is associated with La City Mercado, simply named La City, in Avenida Salamanca. Taxi took us to the wrong one resulting in short walk our correct hotel. Ideally located for shopping; the Mercado fish/meat market a short stroll away Approx. 15-minute stroll through the Old Town brings you down the waterfront and as you pass through the side streets you will find many small boutique shops, street restaurants to tempt you inside.22 degrees of sunshine made it enjoyable just strolling and sight-seeing. The Carnival Solidario on Saturday night of our stay tempted people of all nationalities dressed in various guises; terrific atmosphere. Plenty of police and marshals so the whole event felt safe albeit there were quite a few street beggars around. I would highly recommend this hotel for value for money, cleanliness, service, and location. Room Tip: the rooms numbered 01 and 02 on each floor overlook the main road so if a light sleeper you might consider a room at rear of premises.

Myself & my daughter spent 4 nights in this hotel. The airport shuttle stops about 50 metres away & h -tel in the city centre - 12 minutes from Port & beach. Shops & restaurants & bars all around, as is the central market.

Wenn die anderen Gäste auf dem Gang ruhig sind, ist es ruhig. Sonst nicht. Als ich bei Check-In sagte, ich will bitte ein ruhiges Zimmer, sagte der Mitarbeiter: \"Bis jetzt war für Sie ein Zimmer vorne raus vorgesehen. Ok, Sie bekommen eins nach hinten raus.\"
