Overall it was a good stay. The staff were friendly, and extremely helpful. However, the B;'fast could of been a lot better. Perhaps a nice Buffet B'fast would of been good. As for the pool it was nicely located by the Bar. But my young son, and I did not really enjoy it. I went in once only. He never went in purely due to the fact there were Wild birds in the pool e.g Big Black Crows which made it very unhygienic. Fortunately we found another pool completely free of the Wild Birds, and near to the Beach.

I read several reviews about how bad the parking is, and how dated the hotel rooms are. They couldn't have been more wrong! There was plenty of parking, it is very secure, and the hotel rooms are fine. Yes, they are a little bit dated in some respects, but nothing that ruined the trip. The location is great in San Jose, and the facilities are all in great condition. We didn't swim in the pool but it looked very clean and beautiful. And it was never crowded.

Disappointed with the stay. Room was very basic and not particularly clean. The room was on the ground floor, facing the parking area and windows were opaque glass, so certainly not the 'garden view' we booked and expected. Quite noisy through the night and then strong cooking smells from very early in the morning. There is a sensor in the room which emits a very bright white flashing light every few seconds. Bedsheets thin and towels threadbare. Staff were efficient and very pleasant, and the facilities seemed excellent. Plenty of parking spots and the place is very secure. Breakfast was ok, although the choice of juice OR coffee seemed strange.
Hopefully other rooms are nicer, I would certainly avoid the ground floor rooms if possible.

A great hotel to stay at that’s near the national stadium for a concert (Paul McCartney!!!). The interior is a little dated but safe and clean with a friendly, helpful staff. You also get access to the amenities of the Tennis Club; 2 pools and indoor and outdoor tennis courts! A great deal in a great location!

Roaches!!

Never a good experience when a huge roach wakes u up at 3:30 am crawling on your back while u sleeping. Saw several others about so they must not clean well and was a lot of small flying bugs tgat cami inside from the rocky “patio” area. Carpet hasent been replaced in years but it was a secure and a place to rest up if u don’t mind lil critters.

I rate this facility 5 star for tennis fans. I talked to the manager. He is a really nice person. The facility is in the process of renovation. I got the chance to see the completed room and they are really amazing. I would definitely recommend it and plan on going back

The property was very old. Without good maintance. Felt dirty and had water filtration problems, water preassure problems , bathroom door didn´t always lock, they had 2 twin beds to make a bigger bed, bad smell in bathroom.

The whole place is awful, smells bad, rooms are small and outdated. Only stayed because a friend suggested I should, but never again. The view from the narrow window, the barb wire, anyone looking for a prison like setting, they’ll find one here.

My assigned room was depressing with a concrete wall as the view from the room. Clean but very shabby, everything needed to be updated. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast very basic but adequate. Low price representative of standard of hotel property.

The staff was amazing. Great sports center. I have never stayed anywhere that they have an all sports complex. They have soccer, tennis racquet ball, fitness center, spinning, swimming, hand ball and much more. It is dated you can clearly see it is an older facility but they really take great care of the place. Constantly cleaning. I mean really great care. The people are so nice. The restaurants are wonderful as well.

We arrived to San Jose around 9pm. GPS gave us directions but it took us 2 hours of circulating around tennis courts to find the hotel. No signs, lights, area is very dark and one to ask. Bad experiance.

Old expensive and unclean hotel

The rooms are very old and unclean. The breakfast sucks only a standard option and staff at the restaurant was very rude.

The hotel is still working with obsolete techonoloy such as keys and air conditioner, the lamps and accesses and all in general .

Best Hotel Amenities

Choose from 5 indoor or 5 outdoor tennis courts, basketball, 2 pools, weights, aerobic equipment, bowling and squash, all included. Onsite bar and restaurant. Staff is very friendly, rooms are a little "tired". Massage costs a little extra ($30/hr), but it is well worth the money.

Secure Hotel with Amazing Sports Amenities

The hotel covers what seems to be an entire block, with 2 pools, many indoor and outdoor tennis courts, table tennis, racketball, fitness center, soccer, and bowling. The restaurant is excellent. The rooms are fine as they have air conditioning, which is not always the case in the area. The water pressure is pretty low, which is not a feature. The staff is very helpful.
I've stayed here twice while getting dental work done, and would certainly recommend it to my friends.

Nice hotel not far from downtown San Jose

Good service and friendly staff. Continental breakfast very good. On my last day one of the staff forgot to give my clothes to the laundry service the morning before my departure, and I almost had to go home with more dirty clothes than I wanted. But the man on duty when I went to check on the laundry in the evening, Carlos, was able to get another staff member to stay late and do my laundry so that my clothes would be clean. So I want to commend Carlos for his superior effort. He was even willing to take my clothes home with him that evening and wash them at his house so that I would have them back clean the next morning before checking out. Carlos is an excellent staff member and his customer service skills are extraordinary.

This is a great place if you want to play tennis. Its not the greatest hotel, but the tennis club facilities are top notch. The hotel is English friendly, but the rest of the facility and area will be much easier navigated in Spanish.

The photos are not at all as they seem. The hotel management are very rude and not helpful at all. This is not a 4 star hotel; this is more like a 2 star, the price isn't great either considering the hotel is in bad conditions.

Old vintage style rooms..

This place has been around for decades....it has the feel of a time travel in the rooms. They are clean comfortable and pretty big. The facilities are amazing even a bowling alley is available. Excellent gym, spa, and plenty of activiies to keep you busy through out the day. Staff overall are very friendly and helpful.
I would definitely make my next stay much longer when you are getting the kind of attention you can't get anywhere else.

Staff very helpful. Pleasant . Physically an older building but had lots going for it.
I chose it because of its proximity to my Dental Specialist, Cleo Clinica/. Easy walking distance. unfortunately The entrance was under construction so my walk was3 long blocks farther than I expected

Location convenient but terribly noisy.

We arrived around 4 pm to find that our booked superior room with 2 king sized beds was not available. On offer was a room next to the main road with 1 double and 2 singles ! Noise is a problem at this hotel. I complained and was told hotel was full but the did have a room which had never been used which had 1 king bed and at the other end of the hotel (less noisy). We accepted abd this was fine. This was good as I would not have stayed in the original room on offer. Expedia should explain to hotels that they should honour the booking.

Horrible hotel at a Nice Tennis Facility

My family and I booked a nite at this property 10 days in Advance, when we arrived we attempted to reserve a tennis court, no courts available on our day of arrival nor the following day... After check-in we headed to our 2nd floor room, no assistance with luggage or valet and no elevator.
Room had stained carpets, out dated everything! Room was less than 40 feet from the busy train tracks and a 4 lane road was 15 feet from the bedroom, Loud road noise all night long! NO Sleep!!!!!!! We were given vouchers for the Breakfast Buffet, except they failed to mention that it did not include the fruit, yogurt, cereal or omelets as these items would incur an additional charge, only food permitted were either scrambled eggs or two fried eggs plus rice and beans...

Old and cheap quality for the price

No elevator, noisy! Train near by, starts at 5:00 am! Old build ing! In the past they had breakfast buffet, now they ask: Juice or Coffee... I ask for Coffee and it was horrible! That was interesting because the day before I purch a Coffee and it was good! But the one in the breakfast included is awful... No fruits! The breakfast was rice and beans with fried eggs... I like scramble but I had no choice. I you can pay this Price, book in o the hotel!

Don't go, it's not worthy

Awful experience, the reservation had a room with balcony and city view.

All I got was a window facing a wall and Noview at all.

Then in the breakfast. They were serving a buffet, but my guest and I didn't get a serving. They served a couple of eggs, rice and beans. No choice of fruit, because that was extra.
Never felt as undervalued customer in my life. Problem with low Costa Rican business quality standards.

Don't choose this hotel if you are looking for luxurious accommodations. But if access to a great sports club works for you, this place rocks. In truth the hotel kinda sucks. It is outdated. The beds are not comfortable. There is a train that passes by frequently beginning about 5:30am. But the sports club is awesome. Great facilities. It takes a little work to access, but all is available to hotel guests. The hotel management is more helpful than the staff. The restaurant is good. Because of the club, I loved my stay and would return. If they'd improve the rooms, I'd never leave!

Tennis hotel for non-tennis players

I selected this hotel at the recommendation of Expedia staff because I had to change hotels. The hotel was okay but not really set up for tourists. It caters more towards members. All in all, it was just okay. The biggest negatives were the traffic noise all night long and the other was location. There was not much within walking distance.

Nice for the price. Great Breakfast, Internet quality was low, and the king size bed, is not a king size, they put together 2 single beds, so when you sleep, you can feel the divition, the hotel is clean, safe, is an old bulding.

No kitchenettes, otherwise a really great place

The CRTC affords a guest a unique opportunity to experience what living in Costa Rica, among the club set, means. The buildings are older, the Club was founded in 1911. However, the facilities are extensive and the restaurant is a great example of a social/family gathering place for Ticos of some means. This is a different experience than a US-centric hotel chain; just request a remodeled room. (The service is really good too.)

Central and Great Sport Facilities

Very central 1 hour from the beach, or 40 minutes from Cartago. Great Staff very Friendly, facilities are nice. Only draw back is the noise from the train close by. Rooms are clean even though they are bit old.
