I cannot say enough about how much I enjoyed my stay at the Costarena Beach Hotel. The staff was absolutely wonderful and always responded kindly to my requests and needs. My taxi back to the bus to transport to the airport was very late and I was concerned I could not get there in time, but my wonderful friend at the desk called another and made sure I arrived on time. The room was clean and comfortable and views of the beach from my balcony were stunning. The restaurant in front of the property on the beach was all I needed. Thanks for a providing me a peaceful respite on my visit to Las Terrenas.

The staff is so sweet. The location is close to everything. The rooms are a little dated, but it has everything you need, including a terrace, which is really nice to dry your bathing suit. Air conditioning and television were working awesome. Don’t expect it to be quiet here, but not too late. Everything settles down. I would recommend for the relaxed vintage vibe and location.

When we arrived, we realized that the toilet wasn’t working. We informed the staff immediately, but nothing was done until the next day, after we reported the issue for the third time. They then moved us to a worse room, with a smaller bed, located right in front of the pool, which was extremely noisy. The Wi-Fi did not work inside the room and was only available on the balcony.

Breakfast was very basic, with only two options available: American or Dominican.

The staff at the kiosk was very slow. If you need to book a taxi, make sure to double-check 20–30 minutes before departure, as in our case the taxi was never actually booked.
Also, reception does not open until 9 a.m.
But the hotel has a nice location and is clean , you have a suopermarket next door

This was our second stay at Costarena Hotel. Our first visit was impressive—the property was quiet, affordable, and offered good value, which is why we decided to return. Unfortunately, our recent experience was disappointing and fell short of expectations.
What went wrong:
Room Condition B11: The floors creaked with every step, the room had a moldy smell, and the shower curtain and room curtains felt cheap. There was no hot water, so we had to shower in cold water.
Wi-Fi: The connection on the third floor was nonexistent. I had to go down to the lobby just to get online.
Bed & Cleanliness: The bed was extremely uncomfortable, feeling like exposed springs. I also woke up with multiple bug bites, which was unpleasant.
Security: The room still uses an old-fashioned key system, which feels unsafe.
Missing Item: My brand-new Bulova prescription glasses went missing from the room while we were out. This was very upsetting and unacceptable. Staff should be trained never to remove personal items unless they are clearly trash.
Service: Reception staff spoke good English, but breakfast staff did not. My husband requested a Dominican breakfast and was served an American breakfast instead.

We always tip housekeeping and appreciate their hard work, but losing a personal item and experiencing these issues makes it hard to trust the staff. Unless improvements are made—especially regarding security and cleanliness—we will not return.

This beachfront property boasts an unbeatable location—just steps away from one of the most stunning beaches on the island. The views and proximity to the ocean are truly its greatest asset. However, the property itself shows significant signs of wear and tear across nearly every area and is in need of substantial renovation.

With the right investment, well-trained staff, and strong management, this place could easily transform into a top-tier destination in Las Terrenas. The potential is undeniable—it just needs someone with vision to bring it to life.

Service was great, friendly, and they answered any question I had as well as helped out with all of my requests, appreciate the help of the staff!

Parking was easy, across the street where the restaurant is located which is also where the beach is located, fairly convenient. Less than a 10 minute walk from the town and restaurants, one block away from a market/convenience shop. Overall, great and easy stay for the price paid!

It was my second time staying at Costarena. The staff at the front desk was very friendly. The young lady who checked us in was very kind and responsive. our check-in process was smooth. However, our air conditioners were not working properly, and it took almost an hour for the maintenance person to come check-it out and that was after we went to the front desk to ask for an update. There was also an issue with our bathroom door. It would not stay closed. The hotel should make sure rooms are up to par with the basics before checking the guests in. Other than that, the rooms were comfortable and clean.

We got the apartment unit and the breakfast was included. My first time staying at Costarena the breakfast was buffet style which was decent. Now, breakfast is served at the Costarena restaurant \"El Kiosko\" across from the hotel. The staff at El Kisko during breakfast time needs a lot of improvement and possibly to be retrained, they act very different from the rest of the staff. The staff was a bit rude and did not care to explain that the fruits and drinks were self-served which was hard to tell because the area was not equipped with plates and cups. It looked like it was part of the bar. The breakfast was very limited. The restaurants lunch/dinner menu has great variety available for purchase.

The outside space is well maintained. The pool chairs and tables should be changed they're old. The hotel is in a great area easy to walk to nearby beaches and other restaurants.

I would say I didn’t like anything about the hotel, and yes I know you get what you pay for it but I have been in other hotels in the area at the same price with way better quality. In this hotel nothing work, I didn’t have internet, cable and the tv wasn’t working neither, air conditioner wasn’t working even know they try to fix. When I went to complain about the air conditioner in my room and with the two other reservation that I have with the same issues the receptionist was rude and tell us that we can go to another hotel if we want it, very unprofessional to make long history short, I would not recommend this hotel no even to my worst enemy, please stay away from this hotel.

We were greeted in the lobby by Carmen, who was a gracious and delightful host. She arranged packed breakfast for us when we had to leave early and would miss the time. We did have to ask for things for our room. Housekeeping did not always provide. Service in the restaurant for breakfast was great. It is a good place with good value overall

Stayed in a studio I believe C-2 , I stayed here 4 years ago it was horrible. its a little better with new paint, updated room but same non functional bathroom, flush or toilet leaking, shower curtain spills water out of shower, sink has no hot water. Kitchen was all odd plates and utensils , 1 cup , no water cups, no lighter to light the stove or microwave. Breakfast a little better but needs a lot to be desired. Noisy back alley with humans and cats. I guess it has a new management but nothing great.

This was a comfortable stay! Staff was over the top accommodating to us. The road was under construction so the front desk helped us with an alternate route. Which we were grateful for with coming off a 5 hour drive.
Room was clean, had ac and hot water. There was a nice pool and there's places to eat within walking distance. We decided to try their restaurant. Ana was amazing!!!! Our Spanish is not the best. But Ana was incredibly patient with us and by the end of the evening we all laughed and enjoyed the evening. If for nothing else, I'd recommend this as a stay because of the staff! They made our evening great!
We had to get back on the road early but they did offer a breakfast in the morning. Beautiful place right on the beach at an affordable rate!

This property is very outdated needs improvements. It’s a shame because the location is great near many things. I only stood one night because it was a last minute decision to go to Samana. I would not recommend to stay more than that. The receptionist and her assistant were the only great thing about this place, they are very friendly, nice and accommodating.

I stayed here for one night. Reception was very friendly, the doorman was helpful. Although the physical condition of the building was petty good, there were some deficiencies. What made my stay absolutely poor was the service from the f&b staff. First, we waited HOURS for breakfast, because they didnt have the food available. Fine, we understood this, however the server Maria, was not only rude, she was disrespectfull, rude and zero customer service skills. She needs to be retained or dismissed. After waiting 1 hour, we decided to ask about the timing, and she pretty much looked at us and turned her face in disgust. Then afrer another hour, proceeded to serve a table that came AFTER us, and then did not bring the requested breakfast plates, so now we had to WAIT longer wothout as much as an apology. I then went to Reception to voice my concerns and no solution was offered other than an apology from someone else. pretty poor service in such a beautiful beach and area.

We really enjoyed our stay at thus hotel. Staff were super friendly and the grounds were very well maintained. At night it was very quiet and we slept very comfortably. Location was excellent. Right across the street is the beach as well as the hotel restaurant. Views were amazing. We will return again with a larger group of friends and family.

I have stayed at this property twice and every time it's been perfect. The rooms are immaculate, the front office staff is so helpful and it's just really nice peaceful place to stay. I love the pool and I love the Dominican breakfast in the morning just looking out at the water. It's the perfect distance to walk downtown or down to the other beaches, it's just like exactly the right spot. I love it . I'll definitely be staying here again and again!

One of the receptionist should be fired. She was never there when she was scheduled to be there and she took personal calls at the front desk making the customers wait on her. Terrible experience. It is a damn shame that a place with so much potential hires that kind of person to be the face of their hotel. Also be aware of the ants in the room. Don't bring back any food from outside.

Costarena Beach Hotel is on the beach. Their restaurant serves food right in the beach. The food is good but don’t be in a hurry to eat. They have very polite stay that are very helpful. Most are very limited in English but with google translator we have been able to communicate just fine. The rooms are adequate and the air conditioning works great. They provide towels for the beach and they do have about a dozen or so lounge chairs for their guests to use. You can walk to many restaurants and shops.
