The hotel staff was very accommodating. Room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was good. The dining lead (Carlos) was very engaging, attentive, personable and catered to your needs.
Cons:
The shower was less than ideal. They use a water restrictive shower head (low flow). Because the system is using a hot water demand system the low water flow does not allow the temperature to regulate as it should, therefore it is cold then hot than cold again. The shower floor does NOT have a non-slip rubber mat. This makes for a very dangerous situation of a potential slip and fall. No fun.

Desventajas:
La ducha no era ideal. Usan un cabezal con restricción de agua (bajo caudal). Debido a que el sistema utiliza un sistema de demanda de agua caliente, el bajo caudal no permite que la temperatura se regule como debería, por lo que sale fría, luego caliente y luego fría. El suelo de la ducha no tiene alfombrilla de goma antideslizante. Esto crea una situación muy peligrosa de resbalón y caída. Nada divertido.

Location can't be beaten. Very central and pretty decent for its price. While the overall features are dated and not all rooms have AC, all other basics are covered. On a budget you can't do better, specially with breakfast included.

El personal en recepción no me pareció el más amable y no me gustó que al pedir que me ayudaran con un taxi al aeropuerto me dijeran que la única opción que me ofrecían era una carísima. Al final nos trasladamos en uber perfecro y por una tercera parte del costo que ellos nos ofrecieron.

The hotel allowed us to check in early and made sure we had a refrigerator as we requested at check in. Our room had a small little outdoor space. The staff was super friendly and helpful!
The gym was a treadmill and an elliptical. There is a hot tub but it takes hours to warm up and didn’t get that hot.
Lots of restaurants nearby but the downtown is quite far and you need to take a taxi.

This worked well for my family of 5, since the small sofa in the room was a futon. We enjoyed the park that is across the street for walking/running. Parking at the parking garage next door was convenient and reasonably priced. The staff was very friendly and the included breakfast was tasty.

The shower curtain was old. I recommend them actually cleaning the rooms and replacing the bed linens and shower curtains. Area was walkable to local restaurants and is safe.

Our towels were not the whitest or newest, but we weren’t looking for pristine towels. But I’ll tell you the staff was friendly, helpful, attentive; the food in their restaurant was tasty and reasonably priced. Our room was large enough for us. It was clean. The hotel felt elegant, yet we paid so little. We would most certainly stay here again.

Rincon del Valle was precise to our needs. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The location is in a quiet neighborhood with a convenient bus stop 1 block away and walkable to restaurants and convenience stores. The breakfast was made fresh and a great start to the day. I’ve stayed at this hotel before and it’s always been clean and a good value compared to some others in San Jose. But this time, after riding a motorcycle from Parrita through the mountains to Puriscal and finally to San Jose, I was hot, dusty and dirty. When I asked the lady at reception for the remote control for the A/C, I was told “sorry, you booked through Expedia and that rate does not include A/C for that room.” I went back and reviewed my Expedia reservation and it does not say the room has no A/C. So for this poor review, I blame Expedia’s lack of transparency more than the hotel.

- there's no parking, I had to leave the car in front of the hotel (they assured me that it was safe, and nothing happened, but there's no private secure parking.
