Sadly this was a funky, dirty and loud place. I had planned to lay by the pool. It was one family in there and they were screaming loud. The TV is very old with nothing to watch in English. (I had hoped for charming). Not much for suggestions or ideas on things to do or where to eat. I was disappointed in the breakfast. I moved to the Hilton and was very happy.

My daughter and I absolutely loved KC Hotel San José! It is just like an oasis in the middle of the city. Nice atmosphere, with natural plants everywhere. People can enjoy a delicious food at the Baraka restaurant with a relaxing view to the swimming pool, which is also warm! The hotel has a Gym and offers spa services. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. Amazing, friendly and helpful staff! I would stay again in my next visit to Costa Rica and recommend it 100%!

considering I paid only $60, this hotel is an amazing value. It's actually a unique boutique style hotel with an open air pool surrounded by restaurant which is a cool setup. The hotel has nice lighting, public seating areas, nicely decorated with plants and art - way above normal for this price. The rooms were really nicely appointed with lamps, carpet, and modern furnishings with lots of great pillows and sheets, very nice towels/soaps etc. There are lots of restaurants and bars to walk to. It took over 1 hour to reach the airport at 7am due to bad traffic though - beware. Uber ($15-25) is far cheaper than the taxi option ($35) to the airport.

Bad experience in terms of cleanliness and service

The location is convenient, and the room was spacious and quiet. However, this is the end of the upside. The hotel is located on a roach infested street, with minimal street lighting. The duvet was also dirty, with stains (like blood) peeling off. We tried to contact housekeeping for a replacement, but we were told that there is no housekeeping at night for this. This is quite digusting and an unacceptable response from a hotel.

We didn’t get to the hotel until 2:00am and whoever was at the desk was so helpful. There isn’t an elevator so they helped us with bags while we carried our sleeping kids. The hotel was quiet and beautiful- the breakfast delicious- service was beyond- would absolutely recommend for nice retreat!

We had to check 3 rooms to finally find one with working hot water. My car was messed with at night setting off alarm. Thieves sneaking in gated door or internal problem. Mold in the vent of A/C. Bedsheet had permanent red stain on it. TV with 2 remote controls was too difficult to figure out, so didn’t use it. 3$ per coffee capsule charge is unusual.

The front desk staff was cheerful and helpful. The property itself was (apparently) new but not particularly impressive compared to other hotels I've stayed at in San Jose at the same price point. The room was good sized, but didn't have a refrigerator or microwave. There were no power outlets near the bed or on the nightstands, and only one available at or near the desk—half used by the TV.

My room was in the second section, beyond the pool, and getting to it meant walking on or near the pool deck. It was treacherous in dress shoes—the tile Is light colored and smooth, and you can't see where it's wet, so it would be easy to slip. You also need to navigate past people sitting around the pool. Restaurant food was average.

Overall my stay was good. The pool area looked nice and the hotel area was clean and smelled nice. My dinner at the restaurant and service was just okay. I also didn’t realise when booking that my room didn’t have a mini fridge which was disappointing when I came back with multiple drinks from the corner store and had no where to keep them cold. The hotel is conveniently located to a corner store, Starbucks, and other fast food restaurants. It was also only a short 10-15 minute drive to anything in San Jose I had interest in checking out.

I visited KC hotel for my first trip to Costa Rica. Everyone I encountered in the staff happened to be so kind and offered excellent customer service. They seemed happy to be there and the hotel had a cozy atmosphere.

The free breakfast was great and the lunch options were tasty. Overall I would stay there again great place!

The pool and pool side restaurant was like an oasis from the hustle and grit of San Jose. The food at the restaurant was incredible and well priced. Highly recommend ordering lunch or dinner by the pool. Our room was simple but clean. Comfy pillows! The area feels safe to walk around during the day. The staff were all wonderful. We arrived at our room late evening & when we went to bed one side of the bed was sagging. Next morning we told desk staff & gave permission for them to enter the room while we were out. When we returned at 4pm nothing had been done. At 5 they came to examine bed & discovered one side of bed was busted. When they removed the mattress pad there was a huge stain on it. Bed & mattress were replaced. We spoke to manager & asked for a refund for one night as we thought this was a fair request. He informed us he had to speak to his supervisor. Came back & offered to move us to another room. As we only had another two nights we said seeing that the bed had been replaced we’d just stay but would like a refund. This was refused & we were offer a cocktail & a free lunch buffet. Not sure why they refused a refund. We could see that the manager had to do what his supervisor had told him. The staff were very friendly & helpful but the fact that the bed was broken & the mattress stained really put a damper on our stay. Restaurant & pool we’re very clean & well maintained

The heated pool was excellent, and next to the bar and restaurant. Very relaxing atmosphere within the hotel. Excellent jump-off point for exploring San Jose. Uber rides were plentiful. Parking on-site was a bonus as there is very little parking in San Jose.

I had requested an upgraded room prior to arrival and was not impressed with the manageress attitude when i sought clarity on a few points on payment. I upgraded to an apartment for 4 people. The apartment was set up for 2 people and when we asked for glasses cups bottled water for 4 people we were told that water was complimentary and thats all we were getting. I went directly to the restuarant and acquired 2 extra glasses from staff. We were also told pool had heated water but this was not the case. Reception Staff not very helpful or accomodating. Very disappointed as this was our last night in Costa rica with my daughter and her partner who were continuing with their travels around Central.

The outside of the building is nice but the inside was something I didn’t imagine at all! It’s gorgeous! Rooms are big, bathroom is average size to America. The pool (hot water) in the inner courtyard was nice to look at while having a bite to eat on the restaurant/bar. Food was good. Good quality place to stay wether beginning or ending your trip to C.R. They have upgraded many of the rooms and the property is very clean. It’s always a pleasure to stay here when visiting.

KC Hotel is a little hidden gem. It's small, quiet and has everything one needs while staying in the city. Front desk staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. Restaurant serves great food. My only complaint is housekeeping. The process is very slow, they wouldn't get to my room till late afternoon even when there weren't many guests. Would be nice if they attended to my room while I was at breakfast as I stayed multiple nights.
