Staff are brilliant here. Tam the chef makes tasty meals ,can recommend the carvery for an evening meal and the pancakes at breakfast were yummy. Natasha served breakfast, she's a breath of fresh air, happy and cheerful in the morning, but all the staff are great. The tables could do with a bit of TLC it brings the overall look down a bit.

Room was basic and clean so that's a positive. Heating was locked to 22c so no option to modify to personal preference.
Food in the pub was dire. If it came out of a deep fat fryer then you are in luck, but cooking a steak was above them ( twice ! ) breakfast was disappointing. Only Nescafé coffee unless you want to pay extra for machine coffee. Save some money and go to Macdonald's over the road

We checked out with Natasha who also was incredibly helpful and organised our breakfast.

Condition of the accomodation block requires upgrading. Internal stairs haven't seen a hoover for a while. Internally our room was quite damaged - hole in bathroom wall, facias coming off in bathroom, net curtain quite dirty ay the bottom and paintwork very scuffed. Tv missing alot of standard channels.

On a positive very quiet nights sleep. No noise from outside or in.

It's fine for a short stay, your definitely paying for the location rather than any type of comfort

In a great location for exploring the area. They only give you one key card which operates the lights so if one person leaves the room the other is left in the dark.

This is a good budget hotel within easy walking distance of the ferry around Loch Lomond and the train into Glasgow. There is a small shopping centre nearby with cafes and the shores of Loch Lomond . The room had a comfy bed and a bath . The food in the pub was basic but cheap . The staff were very pleasant and helpful. We had an excellent cooked breakfast. The room could have benefited from a towel rail and a daily replenishment of clean cups and tea and coffee. The tables in the pub were not always very clean but that was because they were very short staffed at times

Too crowded a room

Room is normal but very crowded. I booked a room for three adults (1 double bed+1 single bed) but I got one double bed and 2 single beds packed together which left very little space to manoeuvre.
Also that is an accessible room which is a bit unexpected and difficult to use.

Accommodation was separate to the pub, a very short walk across the car park. The unit was very secure, only accessible with key card. The room was large and very clean. All staff in the pub were friendly and helpful, particularly the manager who was overseeing breakfast service. Plenty of car parking spaces with some electric points. I would definitely recommend this hotel and will book again.

It was our first time staying in a Marstons Inn but really was pleasantly surprised! Lovely location on Balloch, quiet room and fairly big. Lots of parking and restaurants alongside was decent pub food. Only disappointing bits was air conditioning was there (big thumbs up in the gorgeous weather we had) but sadly it didn’t really work… set at lowest temp of 19 it never moved off the first fan speed. If you stood next to it you could feel a slight cooling. Otherwise the family room we had was really good. Very clean and bigger than expected. I’d say a half star above the premier inn type. All in all we had a great stay and would definitely consider Marston Inns for future northern stays….

Overall it was fine in the end, but I understand other people might struggle on that mattress.

We reserved a twin room for two non couple adults. On arriving we found that we were given a double (1 bed). When we asked to either change or for staff to separate the beds, we were told no one was available. We offered to separate the beds ourselves if we could just have the linens and were told that staff didnt have access to the linen cupboard. We were given one extra comforter and tokd that the beds would be made right in the morning. We separated the beds ourselves and improvised with what we had. The next day staff didnt touch the room...no new linens, no new towels, no tea bags, nothing. Our final day we were given two twin comforters, but our improvised linens (improvised by us) were not changed. Staff was never available to assist us as they were busy with patrons of the bar and restaurant. There is no dedicated staff for the hotel. There is no closet, no space to dry wet clothes (for a hotel in the Scottish highlands), very few amenities. I would not recommend staying here.

I’ll admit checking into the property inside of a restaurant was not expected. The check-in notes should probably mention this. The servers in the restaurant were very good especially Natasha. The WiFi was pretty much worthless. The property was clean and had ample parking spots.

The room was a little tired, there were a couple of issues that were off putting, it is a little strange to have no luggage rack or anywhere to put things other than the desk.
There was an unusual smell it wasnt a bad smell but it wasn't good either. I hate to be negative, we reported a couple of faults and i think if we hadn't encountered them we might have had a different view of the place. The staff are lovely, Suzanne the night manager was lovely and so helpful. The chap in the restaurant who I think was the the manager was nice as well. We had lunch and it was pleasant enough and the price is similar to the rest of the area for eating and drinking.
