Breakfast at Golden Tulip was the best and I had my best black masala tea there.

Only thing I didn’t like was the translucent wall design between the bedroom and the bathroom. Otherwise everything else was pretty much good. Plus the lunch options they had were good too.

The hotel is quite suitable for a short duration stay. Rooms are clean, staff okay, not as friendly as they could be. Everyone seemed unhappy or upset. The food is not that great for the price and not very well prepared. The lobby coffee and pastry shop was really good. Overall security was good but the neighborhood was challenging. Recommend being extremely vigilant if arriving or departing at night on foot.

The hotel is ideally located in Westlands, close to the Expressway and amenities, while also walkable in the neighbourhood. Good breakfast options, Continental, English, South Asian, and local options, fresh fruit and juices. The staff also went above and beyond, providing access to the room after an overnight flight early morning before check-in as they had availability.

What a great hotel. The rooms are big, bright and comfortable. The service is friendly and efficient. The breakfast buffet is amazing. The service is friendly and efficient. And it's excellent value! This is my new favourite hotel in Nairobi.

The gym deserves a special mention. It has a wide range of machines and free weights and expert trainers. It has outside members, so everything is well maintained.

Here's a concise breakdown:
Hotel: Excellent. Staff are great and helpful. Food is good and fresh. Your room is decent and cleaned daily including fresh towels. The gym is well stocked including a punching bag. Also, there is a staff member always ready to help you with activities such as safaris or visits to the Giraffe Center.
The area: Central but less desirable. The street is very dirty and not lamplit at night. There are a few casinos within walking distance but returning home with your winnings might make you feel a bit like a target. That being said, I haven't had a single problem once. Just don't expect to take a nice neighborhood stroll.
All told, great hotel with great value for money. Just accept that virtually every time you leave the hotel a taxi is required.

We had 2 unexpected nights in Nairobi and chose this hotel due the proximity of visiting things of interest. There is a shopping mall close by with options for lunch and dinner. The hotel had a great selection for breakfast and very good room service dinner, excellent gym and the rooftop bar and pool was nice to have, you cant lie out in the sun though.

Disgraceful for a Golden Tulip

For a Golden Tulip hotel, this stay has been a huge disappointment. Although the staff have all been very good this hotel is in a very tired state and in desperate need of refurbishment. Lifts were not working throughout our stay so we were initially required to climb 2 or three flights of stairs with all our luggage from the basement parking. To access our room we were also required to use a flight of stairs to an alternative lift. Water being turned off with no notice for hours, then switched on briefly before being cut again, with no notice. Disgraceful for a Golden Tulip property. I will need a lot of convincing to come back

I stayed here for 4 days. Overall a good hotel with very comfortable and clean room. The room service to clean the room was really nice and did a good job daily. The front desk ladies during the day were not very friendly and few times I had asked them with directons or to help with Uber drivers (as I had one incident when the Uber driver didn't give me change) and they refused to help. However the guy in the evening was amazing and very helpful. He even helped to open my suitcase when I had lost the key. the hotel area is good and feels safe to walk around during the day. I wouldn't walk around at night especially if solo female. There is a shopping mall 5mins walk which had a supermarket and foodcourt. The breakfast in the hotel was very disappointing; I only ate once as had early start with tours but they did pack me fruits to take away when asked which was great. There was a pool upstairs but it was cold so never used it and it did look a bit run-down. They should consider cleaning or refurbishing it.

Overall a terrible experience. The property is mediocre, the service bad and there are lots of hidden fees.

- bathroom was dirty when I arrived
- the \"king\" bed was two small beds put together
- they a very stingy with drinking water. Only two small bottles per day and they charge if you ask for more
- staff failed to follow through on services they agreed to
- they charge $40 if you want to bring a guest to the room

You'll be happier at one of the many other hotels in Westlands

The property was good, everyone who-worked there was nice, helpful and Courteous, the complementary breakfast buffet was very good, the other restaurants in the building were excellent. I didn’t like my first room so they quickly move me to an upgraded room…no extra payment. I will definitely go there again.

Terrible stay at Golden Tulip Westlands Nairobi

It was the forgetable hotel stay i can imagine. They overcharged me by one night and have syoll not refunded me. Seems to have been calculated because they were very aware that i had already paid for one night and insisted that they will take payment on check out. On checked someanager insisted on checking me out and included the night i had already paid for. Called them from airport when i realised the debit on my card but still procrastinating on refunding me 3 days later. I would urge everyone to keep clear of this hotel

Superbe large spacious room with everything one needs. Pressure of water in bathroom was amazing. Room were cleaned properly. Breakfast was a 5 stars. Lots of choices. But mattress was old and uncomfortable, could not sleep properly, has to be changed. Room 814 to avoid.

The location is good. The kitchen staff are amazing (particularly the Chief Rachael). The security staff are excellant. There was one lady on the ground floor and she was always very grumpy (15 times, I said please and thank you) and she never once responded. Also, one Saturday evening I had a drink at the donwstairs cafe with a friend, we then had another drink at the roof top bar. On the way out she asked to use my bathroom (she didn't want to use the public toilets). I was in my room for 3-5 (Max minutes) after she left I was told there was 40$ additional payment for having somone in my room.. I thought that this was crazy.

Unique about the property is the attention of the staff and the chefs. They truly care about the guests and accommodate your requests. Thanks to Chef Ajay for catering to vegan requirements. Every time I have come to Kenya I have stayed here. Golden Tulip used to be an excellent property currently it's a bit run down in the bathrooms. The caulking, trash cans, etc need some attention.

I was expecting much more from this hotel, having started before. My son and I stayed too close out a week in Kenya. The time was clean, but here are the issues:
-TV didn’t work the entire time (despite 3 calls to fix, nothing happened)
- water pools in the bathroom are a relatively short use of the shower
- coffee shop sold me a stale piece of cake (my informing them and returning 3/4 slice did not result in any change in the bill or offer for something different!)

While none of the above issues are a huge deal, it gives more the feeling of a 2-3 star hotel. Generally, the staff were friendly, but not aware of hospitality. This should not be the case for a Golden Tulip in the Westlands. I mentioned a couple of these things at checkout, but one manager dodged a response by wrapping up his shift without closing the loop with me. The next manager was unavailable when I needed to leave (he also was unreachable by the front desk staff)

The room was clean with good space. I did miss a refrigerator in the room even though there was an empty cabinet designed for one. It would have been nice to keep my drinking water cold. I liked being able to connect my phone to the TV to view my own content. WIFI was strong. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Security was very good, they seemed very concerned about my safety. There is a shopping mall with a market down the street (walkable) which was convenient. The breakfast was very good with long hours of availability so you don't feel rushed. I stayed 2 separate times during my trip.

One of the reasons we booked was because of this pool. Also, website on Expedia is misleading, as this hotel is actually twice as far from Sarit Centre as indicated. The map is not correct.

Superb hotel in Westland/parklands area of Nairobi. Unbeatable generous breakfast with a variety to die for. Room are spacious and bed was very comfortable. Shower experience was better than going to a spa. Amazing water pressure in shower. Nicely decorated. I recommend it wholeheartedly.

Excellent hotel. The staff is friendly and helpful, the rooms are comfortable and clean, and there is a DELICIOUS restaurant on the 10th floor. Additionally, the hotel has multiple drivers available for guests, if booked in advance. Getting around Nairobi really requires a car, so available drivers is a wonderful option that I used daily. Highly recommend this establishment.

The first thing to know about the Golden Tulip is that there are NO \"Cityview\" rooms! They have a 5 foot high opaque sheeting that blocks all but a \"skyview\".

If I had known that I would never have paid $80 for a slightly larger room with no view! Look closely at the main, but only picture looking out, and you can see the sheeting. When asked, the hotel said a guest complained because they thought they saw a drone. Well, that's improbable, maybe have a few rooms that block the view if that's a concern, but not all rooms. Or change the description to Skyview rather than be deceptive.

Also, look carefully at the 5 star reviews and how almost all are comments about the gym trainer, who obviously asks them to make comments. The room is modern w/nice furniture but mine had an iron burn in the middle of the carpet. The shower floor is very slippery, so watch out.

Reception desk was not particularly welcoming, just handed me the key. No offer of bag help. Airport transfers are noted as available, but first they wanted $40 from Wilson and I negotiated it to $30.

The breakfast servers were excellent and the choices pretty good. The dinner staff was barely passable, with so-so English in a town everyone speaks English. The swimming pool water was frigid, but the rooftop view is very good!

Location is in the Westlands suburb, with the National History museum just at the end of the street, 4 blocks down. I can't compare to other Nairobi hotels, as this is the my first one.

I stay here every time I’m in Nairobi (I go on Safari every year). The hotel is modern, super clean, extremely comfortable with great staff. The amenities are also very good (gym, pool, etc). It punches well above its class in terms of price and value for $. At the very least I’d say this is a solid four star hotel and rivals it’s much more expensive competitors.

This is a beautiful hotel, in a central part of town not far from restaurants, bars and cafes. But it’s BEAUTY at the reception that makes this hotel so much more than just a place to stay. From the moment we arrived, she was so kind and hospitable, taking extra steps to make us feel comfortable and make sure we enjoyed our stay. We arrived early in the morning, super exhausted from an all night flight. And not only did she allow us to check in early, but she also was thoughtful enough to give us a bigger room so we could be more comfortable. I really appreciated her kindness and thoughtfulness.
