Top notch hotel in Nairobi

This was the first time for me staying at the Sankara in Nairobi, and I found the hotel to be excellent both in terms of comfort and cleanliness. My room was modern and well appointed and very comfortable. The food in the restaurants was good ands the steakhouse Graze was 4 out of 5 stars.

The staff - 10 stars out of 5. Very (super) friendly and helpful and came through on every request.

The only minor squawk I would give the hotel is that the bar on the first floor could do with an update and a more robust selection of liquor. It was a bit to sterile for my tastes - leaving money on the table for the hotel. The rooftop bar and pool were nice but again suffer from a narrow selection of alcohol.

But overall - 5 of 5 stars! Truly enjoyed my stay.

Great modern hotel centrally located with a number of bars and restaurants in the vicinity. Rooms were modern and well appointed. Staff friendly and efficient. Graze restaurant worth a visit if you like a US Steak house
Price was on expensive side but if you can get a good deal worth a stay when visiting the city

The service was really nice and security here made you feel safe. The rooms were smaller than I hoped for- we stayed here for the first few days of our trip and then went to movenpick for the last few days. Their rooms were bigger and spacious but the service was better here - it was still good but I felt at sankara they were just always ready to go above and beyond.

Spectacular Sankara!

Beautiful clean property with very kind and attentive staff. Nice rooms with comfy beds and rooftop restaurant has excellent food. The mall with a Carrefour is a 5-minute walk from the hotel. Our drivers employed by the hotel are excellent, informative and friendly. Will absolutely stay here again!

The service was wonderful, the management is very very profession and I highly commend Ms JOAN WAVALA, the guest Services Manager for her management style and everything she did for us to enjoy our stay at he Sankara. This was our third stay in Sankara within 1 year and we hope to come back again in July 2023.
The only draw back is that the hotel has no SPA/Massage Parlor which a hotel of Sankara's Caliber should have. Second note is that refrigerators should be available in every room.

I stayed in Marriot hotel and this has no Marriot standards neither 3/4/5 star standards

It’s in great location in Westland though

I really was looking forward on the stay to sankara ..!
Upon arrival I received not welcoming I stood by receipt for long time while receptionist (Lidya ) was on personal ..

Solomon walked in and served us from drying standing up 😊 Solomon made our whole stay very comfortable .. he was very helpful and went out of his way to make our stay comfortable (he deserve raise and upgrade )

Everyday morning On our stay we had to sign after breakfast (they said was just protocol ) coming to end of our stay we were checking out and paying our bills to find out we were billed for things that we weren’t supposed too bill was 700$ something we end up paying 300$ something

We had 2 rooms both room upon arrival was breakfast included .. we had to argue about the bill for like 1hr they then removed one room breakfast but we still have to pay for one other room (we were breakfast included package ) at end we decided to pay and leave JUST PAY ATTENTION TO BILLS

also there is security check diversity there are people go through security check and there some people who don’t (colorism’s Was felt )

As hotel that is under Marriot has no Marriot standard ..

Great hotel.

Great hotel! Rooms are clean, spacious and well furnished. They’re also well proofed and insulated, virtually no outside or street noise can be heard. The staff go above and beyond in making your stay as comfortable as possible. I asked the front desk to hold my bags between check out and a late night flight and instead, they offered me a later than usual check out! Solomon is a great concierge and a great help in anything inside and outside the hotel.
I decided to skip room service and dine at the rooftop restaurant like I’d done before on a previous (non-stay) visit. Big mistake! It was Latin night so the rooftop was popping. But service was ridiculously slow. Drinks came 25 minutes after ordering. Dinner took over an hour! The 3 wait staff (that I could see) did their best but were seriously overwhelmed by the crowd. I contemplated just up and walking away for room service instead.
Breakfast the next morning was meh.
Overall I’d stay here again.

Staff assistance with some issues we had was outstanding. Our flight didlnt leave until 11:30 on our departure day and because my wife was ill, they comped our room until 8:00pm that night. I couldn't believe it. Very nice service.
Visiting in Nairobi is another story. Way too crowded with constant chaos and horrendous traffic.

Everyone from the front desk to the servers in the restaurants to the cleaning staff to the valet/transfer staff are very happy to help and always smiling. A couple of them blatantly asked for positive personal reviews on Trip Advisor, but that’s what the industry has become. The only negative, and it would have been a deal breaker had I known, is the pool is under construction. I specifically booked this hotel for the rooftop pool only to find it closed. The food at Artisan is so so, but there are many restaurants in the area and the concierge is happy to help with booking and transfers. Overall, a really nice place to stay in Nairobi.

This hotel is BEAUTIFUL! The decor, architecture, and accommodations are amazing - I found myself taking many photos throughout our short stay. We we're only staying for one night and received a free room upgrade. The receptionist took us all the way up to our room and we got turndown service. We visited the VIP lounge and got free drinks and hors d'oeuvres upon arrival. We also dined at the Champagne Bar and the food was delicious. The view was amazing as well. We needed to get to another hotel in the morning to meet family, and it was very easy to book a taxi from the front desk. We highly recommend the Sankara!

The property was very nice and the steak house was excellent! We had our best meal on this trip there. The only thing I didn't like was I was told a shuttle to the airport would be $35 for my family and it ended up being $35 per person!!!! The lady who was to assist with the shuttle also had a terrible attitude. We were able to get an uber for the equivalent of $11!

Amazing stay at Sankara!

I stayed at the Sankara for 14 days for work and it was incredible. The restaurants are great and the breakfast buffet is delicious! The entire staff, from reception to the waiters to the bell hops were all so helpful and friendly. We used their conference rooms as well and everything went so well. I cannot reccommend this hotel enough!

it was a great stay overall. I have enjoyed it and will definitely go back for another stay.
Booking an executive room was a plus as it provided a higher level of service and access to the Club Lounge which gave a private setting in calm and cozy environment.
The only negative point that I noted, which was later corrected, was the toilet wasn't being cleaned thoroughly - it seemed like it was quickly being cleaned without proper products, which was of a bit of concern for us. We had to point it out to the management which rectified the issue.

I enjoyed my 3 nights stay in Nairobi, in this beautiful hotel located in the Centerville , it's close to many business centers, no need of a taxi for shopping . First , My check - in went fast and I was granted with a warm welcome from the front desk, the security guards...! I felt myself at home as the staff was very helpful and respectful. I found the hotek and my room Very clean and fully equipped. a lot of amenities. I received a proposal of great deals and got access to the lounge with Delicious foods. from the terrace I had a nice picture of Nairobi admiring sun set. I will love to go back for vacation. I strongly recommend this place .

Beware Of The Man Who Sits In The Lobby

I enjoyed my stay at this beautiful hotel, the room, the view, in hotel restaurant and staff were all lovely and very friendly. What urged me to write this review months after visiting Nairobi was the encounter I had with concierge the second day of my stay here. I didn’t pre-book a safari experience but was sure I could book one once I landed. So I stopped by the concierge desk to book a safari. I told him I wanted a full safari experience. He asked which animals I wanted to see, all of them I replied. Okay. He said it’ll cost $400. Okay, I didn’t review prices but figured for a night or two with meals that made sense from my limited experience. I said okay, he charged my card. Then he asked if I wanted to book an overnight safari at one of the neighboring cities. I just booked one, why said I book another one? He laughed and said I should meet my tour guide in the lobby at 5am. I signed my non-refundable receipt and left. Let me give you a run down of my $400 safari experience; I arrived at 5am and met a really nice driver who drove me to the National Park, Elephant Orphange and Giraffe Manor. I was dropped off at my hotel around 1pm. I checked the costs of entry for all three places and $5, $10 and $10 bucks. I didn’t have any meals, only the three mini water bottles I was given by the concierge at 5am. What did my $400 dollars pay for? Why did a $25 dollar day not including gas cost $400? I guess I should've known better. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

Centrally located in the Westlands area. The staff there were definitely the best part . Always smiling and available to help. My driver Isiah who picked me up from the airport , and was my driver the whole time in Nairobi Was the best I could of asked for . He answered all My questions and showed me around the city , he had great ideas on what to do and see . I felt we became friends . He took care of me from beginning to the very end !!

nice hotel in great location. However they charge $.60 a page to print and didnt tell me only after i printed 50 pages for something i needed. This rate is outrageous espically in a country where for the amount they charge you can get a meal. I have traveled to over 160 countries never had i been charged for printing in a hotel and this hotel charges $300 a night and they have the nerve to charge so much for printing.

Check-in arrival was flawless. I arrived super early due to the fight and yet the hotel were very accommodating and instantly allowed me too check in and had my room ready.

All the staff were extremely polite and well spoken. The hotel was very clean and the rooms were kept immaculate.

The hotel operated like clockwork and the breakfast was very nice.

Roof terrace bar was very nice but the pool i think needs a tad bit of updating.

Overall a good hotel and we enjoyed the experience. Very good staff service. Very good spa and excellent steakhouse. Unfortunately, over the weekend, the noise from the bar was too much in our room -- until after 1 am. Good value if you get a good price; if you want to be absolutely pampered, maybe look elsewhere.

The hotel is in the outcasts of the city center so less congested. Breakfast is great! We couldn't use the pool because they had closed it at 5pm for a private event at 6pm yet their website says it closes at 6pm. It was a disappointment because as guests we should have had access to the pool.

Very nice hotel in Nairobi but..

I have stayed in Sankara several times and I recommended. However, I find some improvements in the service are required. It appears evident that thr hotel management has had some negative experiences in the past, which have an impact on the clients today. Upon arrival I was informes that an amount USD100 was pre-charged on my card to cover for eventual pending costs not paid at checkout. On the morning of my departure, few hours before checkout, staff was sent to my room to control whether anything had been taken from the in-room fridge. As I ordered in-room dining, once the food arrived I received three phonecalls and a visit from the staff to ensure that the food was going to be paid for. While clients have sympathy and cooperate with these requests, I find that this type of service may not be in line with such a high hotel standard.

Hotel itself is very good because of 5 star hotel, however, there are two weak points.
One is too much expensive meals. Breakfast is KS 2,700 and buffet dinner is KS 4,000. Another is no garden.

We had a good time, we stayed one night at a deluxe room. Bed was clean but couch was stained. Bathroom was nice and clean, small tub though.

Food was good, Graze is the best option for dinner. Lounge at 7th floor was nice and good music, food is average at the lounge.

Hotel SPA is the best feature of this hotel, very professional and super clean.

Overall it's a nice hotel.

Lying staff and disappointed with the stay

When I checked in, I was informed I was on a bed and breakfast rate. I therefore had breakfast each day and at the end was informed I was only on a room rate. The hotel staff denied saying it however cancelled the charge as a gesture. As I know the hotel are lying about this, I asked them to check the cctv as would clearly show me asking. They have since disconnected 7 phone calls I have made to the manager, and are not responding to my emails asking for an alology.

I wouldn't stay here again out of principle, and be wary of what the staff tell you.

It'll be interesting to see if I receive a response following this...
