Nairobi convenient oasis

Decent rooms. OK TV channels. NICE gym. Great pool (gets a lot of local school swimming classes.) Super outside areas .. you're in your own beautiful garden within the city. Walk across the street to Sangrit Mall. Quick travel from airport and into West Nairobi via freeway. Good food and prices. Room price can't be beat compared to other similar options

Average hotel but we were given a room with no AC. Then sent to a room with a noisy AC. Then sent to a room without twin beds and I slept on a mattress on the floor.
Staff are friendly and it’s across the street from a nice mall.

The WiFi system does not work well. They use some sort of system that is easily blocked by anti-virus protection and the only solution is get help from their IT guy. I did not have this problem elsewhere like another hotel or at the airport that all had the open access/no password connection. Secondly, this place is in need of serious remodeling and upgrading - it is thread bear throughout. The closet doors were nearly falling off. It is over priced for the status of the facilities.. The gym has equipment that is old and some do not work like the stationary bikes. The only positive aspect is the garden and pool area

We were harassed by beggars when walking around the area at night. While the beggars don't do anything but beg, it gets annoying. Property needs updating. Staff is amazing. The staff makes it worth staying at. Also, being right by the Sarit was so convenient.

I was the hotel for one night, as I transferred to Nairobi for work. Due to Covid restrictions, most of the hotel was closed/blocked for use, but overall, the room was fine, internet connection good, and had a pleasant stay.

The room wasnt to my expectation. The photo of room/bed shown on Hotels.com is not exactly as it is. The room while it has king size bed, is smaller than expected. Room service only done to close curtains..dirty towels etc are not changed during evening.

Another fantastic stay. Warm welcome once again. Greeting from Daniel like I was a returning family member. Surprise birthday cake for 🎉 13/5. GM Margaret invited me to have a coffee and breakfast and constantly asking for ways to improve and feedback. Fabulous. Safe, secure and well located. Brilliant gardens with huge pool and well equipped gym. Super for business. Everyone knows location added to which parking and security are top notch. Thanks to all the staff for making me so extremely welcome throughout my stay. I'll miss those awesome breakfasts.

Beautiful but needs Extreme TLC

The hotel has a great location and a wonderful staff. It has beautiful gardens and is a jewel in the middle of Nairobi. Close to everything. BUT. The rooms all need drastic renovation. I had an older room and while I lived there for 6 nights and slept, the carpet smelled awful and was visibly dirty, the curtains had not been washed for 12 years at least. Just do not think that the basic hygiene measures are being taken. Could be such a great hotel with a bit of facelift. Such a pity.

Nice close Sari centre

The hotel has a back to Sari Centre but the back closes early. The security is fine. The food is so good.
It has in addition a fantastic restaurant outside using the same WiFi with the hotel hence you can just take your laptop and continue working.
A well equipped and Spa

The rooms are okay, the sheets and towels are sparkling white.

A good hotel I must say.

Extremely good value in Westlands

Surrounded by hotels that can cost multiple times more per night, the Jacaranda provides most things that you could possibly need, reasonable size swimming pool (20 m), gym, in room tea/coffee facilities, reasonable desk for working, excellent breakfast that should suit almost any taste.

Excellent if you have business or reason to be in Westlands and don't want to payout for the top dollar hotels that I just around the corner.

Dated and wouldn’t recommend

Very dated hotel. Said was 24 hr restaurant service but was only room service! Common area was shabby with old sofas etc. Not a pleasant experience. Room was comfortable enough but again old bed, furniture, bathroom. Location is obviously how they keep business going as it is in a safe area and good for work purposes. But hugely overpriced for what you get. Wouldn’t recommend.

The hotel is one of the older ones in the city and is looking its age in many aspects; overall a bit of TLC would be welcomed by staff and guests alike I suspect. Staff were friendly and helpful with any issues.

I stated only for one night. I enjoy the stay, staff were extremely humble. Fast check in, clean, bit old bed sheet cover, good breakfast, choice of fresh juices etc. would like to stay back.

Really very good service, but the hotel is somewhat run down, no aircon in the rooms. Was not bad for now (winter), but I do not thinkk I will stay there in summer. Also good value for money, and very good neighborhood for walking to good restaurants. Also seems close to many businesses for my meetings.

Great hospitality in worn but maintained property

I booked a room at Jacaranda at the recommendation of a colleague who's extensive network of Africa-based aid workers and academics suggested it as a safe, comfortable, and affordable option in Nairobi. I was attending a conference in the city center each day, and the front desk staff arranged a driver for me. The area is not one I'd walk around, but it was my first time to Nairobi so maybe I'm a wimp. The place had excellent security and the rooms were fine, though a bit dated. The pool looked nice, but it was too cold to swim. The gym and spa on site were great. The onsite restaurant was adequate. The service was excellent. Everyone was very attentive and kind. This is a great place if you are looking for a secure hotel in Nairobi and don't mind taking a driver when you go out. The only contraindication is that there are lots of stairs and seemingly no ADA-like accommodations, so disabled travelers may look elsewhere.

The room was ok, had everything it needed, but it wasn't plush or modern. I've stayed here before, so knew what to expect, however my room was at the front of the hotel and I was faced with the music from the nightclub over the road which kept me up until it stopped at 1:30am on the Thursday. The hotel did move my room the following day, after requesting a quieter room. The service from all the staff was very friendly, but not the most efficient, and I was made late to work on my last day as the check out took nearly 30 minutes to complete. The outdoor areas are lovely and peaceful, and the breakfast was ok. I got a good rate when I stayed, but if I paid more, I think I would expect a little more.

All we wanted was a clean room and working shower

Room was too small for a triple. They just squeezed in a third single into a double room. Showers did not work well and we had to move rooms as a result, after waiting for over half an hour in my towel. It was also suggested that the fault was ours, although the maintenance staff himself could not resolve the matter.

Lovely hotel in nairobi

Lovely hotel in Nairobi. Nothing special for the price by U.S. standards, but a welcome respite from the Africa guest houses we had been staying at. Excellent service, beautiful grounds and pool, great breakfast. Loved the spa.

Note to management- when I ran a tub of water, the water was brown. Consider treating your water. The pool looked cleaner than the bathtub.

There are some very good hotels in Nairobi, but unfortunately Jacaranda is no longer one of them. Location is very good but in general the hotel feels old; bathrooms are outdated and the wi-fi was mostly unavailable during the whole of my stay. Furthermore, on checking in late after a long flight, I was given a smoking room which really is not acceptable. There are no lifts which can be a problem. Food is very mediocre and the breakfast coffee was awful - and this in Kenya which has some of the best coffee in the world!

Jacaranda is appropriate for a business traveler. There are limitations, but in reality every hotel has them. Staff is helpfull and competent. Location is good with enough places to go nearby, and reasonable time/expense to get to city centre and airport. The hotel is safe.

Not the best for business travellers

The Deluxe Rooms are better than the standard rooms. Most of the staff are extremely warm, welcoming and helpful, however, there are a few who are at the other end of the spectrum. If you are here for business. Internet is atrocious. If you have deadlines and you depend on the internet...the Jacaranda might not be the best option. Internet at the business center will cause hypertension.

My airport pickups did not show up on two separate occasions. Rooms are small. Telephones in the rooms don't work. Cost is at the high end, for a hotel that is a bit \"weary\" and has seen its hey day. In between stays, I stayed at the Amman Sheraton, and for the same price, it was paradise. Food service, particularly at dinner is extremely slow, and can take up to 45 minutes. I ordered a banana smoothie which did not show up even after half hour, and I had to cancel.

The best part about the hotel, is the gym, for those who like to keep fit. Other pluses: it has a nice garden, you can walk across the road to the Sarit Center where there is a super market, a book store, clothing store, a pharmacy, some fast food outlets etc, as well as telecom shop and an internet center.

nice hotel for business travellers

Nice hotel, very good location, and the food is just OK (I'd recommend to eat outside, many places nearby). The internet connection is good though it's a bit expensive. But what I appreciate the most is the garden and the nice swimming pool where you can relax after a long day at work. For people who do sport, you'll find a good gym there (free access during your stay). I recommend it for business travellers.

The Jacaranda is an oasis in Nairobi! The polite and helpful service, the friendly staff, the clean and prepared rooms, the buffet breakfast, the top notch spa and gym..we only have great things to say about it. Oh, and the cost is so very reasonable as well! We will only stay HERE our next visit!

I returned to the Jacaranda - a hotel I have visited fairly regularly over the past 20 years - but little in the past 3 years. It has been up-dated, and refurbished, which has enhanced its charm. The facilities were excellent, the staff exemplary, friendly and helpful. The location was ideal for me - but it is not one the mosey around in if you are new to Nairobi. The food had improved, and it was good to see more Kenyan food offered, rather the more usual bland international fare.

Good Nairobi hotel - if you don't like the downtown

A good hotel with quite surroundings and very good service. There is no AC so if that is important to you stay away. But there are good beds, in large rooms, with ceiling fans and bed nets. They look after you with rapid service on issues in your room, and a very good breakfast with great coffee!

This is a well managed hotel, in a quite area. Excellent gym, pool, breakfast and fairly good internet connection (could not use Skype). This hotel has no AC, so beware if the use of a ceiling fan, bed netting and open windows is not to your liking. Very nice gift shop and adjacent mall provided good shopping.

Good hotel in excellent location

I've stayed at this hotel a number of times. It is comfortable and in a very good location, close to shops, restaurants etc. It can be a bit noisy on Friday and Saturday nights as there is a bar with music just outside. The rooms are good and the service is excellent. My only gripe is that it is a bit overpriced - though it is a comparable price to other similar hotels in Nairobi - and that the check-in can sometimes be very slow.
