We had a very pleasant stay and were given an older style room which we prefer. The decor is preferable to us as it is brighter and there is more cupboard space. The new decor is quite gloomy. It is our 8th stay in the hotel.

The breakfast was not fresh and did not have many options for consume and it did not exceed my expectation. Although the staff provided fair service but I asked for 115V adapter to charge my devices and they did not provide it. In addition, the room condition was awesome and super clean and the air condition was working pretty good too and I could not complaint about it.

The pastries were poorly cooked, the croissants were only recognisable as such by their shape, the bread choices were very soft and lacking in chewiness, the breakfast cereals only had all bran as a healthy option (no muesli), the fresh fruit range only had watermelon and pineapple, and the menu didn’t vary over the three days we ate there.

Harbourview room is worth it. Really nice breakfast buffet. No hotel lobby restroom so you need to use the one in the restaurant on the second floor - not awesome when you’ve arrived from overseas and just want to brush your teeth.

Very difficult to read or see the documents in that section. The rest part of the room is perfect and newly refurbished. Very functionable and efficient

The upgrade to a room with a view of the harbour was a pleasant surprise. really appreciated. room was very nice but a little small, especially the bathroom. the doors are realy thin and didn't block out mych noise. every time a guest from another room spoke in the corridors or opened doors from other rooms this is very audible and can very easily disrupt your nights sleep. It would be goodnforbthe hotel to upgrade the front doors to the rooms.

I booked this hotel as it was close to a music festival I was attending on the harbour front. The buffet breakfast was fine, the staff were attentive/welcoming, the room had a nice view of the harbour plus the beds were comfortable. The room amenities were a bonus as were the soft drinks in the mini bar. Overall I had a good experience at this hotel and I would consider staying again.

Initial contact with lady receptionist was rude and awkward. Given a room with no view at all, windows facing backwalls and air-conditioning of 2 other buildings and the sounds echoing just overwhelmingly noisy! No offer of upgrade. Only after we insist on an upgrade and be willing to pay for the upgrade for a harbourview then only a different receptionist ( the manager? ) was willing to accommodate us. We paid plenty for the upgrade ie a beautiful view of the harbour which was advertised in Expedia.
My 2nd complaint is the housekeeping which says in their room notices that they are happy to change the bedsheets upon request. Some of the housekeepers were not happy with my daily request. They did change the bedsheets, but grudgingly. I left no tips for them.
Unlike the housekeepers in Hilton Guangzhou and Shenzen China, they were great and changed the bedsheets daily regardless. No fuss at all!
3rd complaint-- the morning buffett, food varieties, quality, taste and quantity, all need improving.
4th complaint-- the room is too small for the price we paid. However, the view of the harbour is priceless! The only part of my stay that I will give a 5 stars for the view.

Stayed here for four nights in mid-October, My HK stay was pleasure -- first visit since 1989. In looking at the plethora of hotel options, I finally decided on the Harbourview because of the view and location, and it didn't disappoint. A 7 minute walk gets you to the MTR, and 12 minutes to the Wan Chai Star Ferry pier. The view is as advertised. I had a basic harbourview room on the 7 floor and it was great. Sat with my coffee each morning watching the Star ferries ply their trade. Really excellent. The room itself is a little dated, but I liked it. Only space to put out one big suitcase. Bed firm and comfortable. Aircon excellent. Even thought it was over a small trafic circle, it was quiet -- good soundproofing windows -- and I am a light sleeper. Small bathroom -- basic. Hot water in shower was iffy. Staff were unobtrusive but excellent. Restaurant was a little pricey for me. Overall the room was a great success for me. Just loved the view. In booking, I did balk at paying the full price up front nonrefundable one month in advance, but I wanted that view and gambled, and I'm glad I did. Definitely would stay there again.

Probably not for a family as we had 3 in one room and 2 in the other with 3 beds, one I used as everyones clothes,and there is no space, there are no wardrobes, but a small hanging space, very small bar fridge, small table ( size of a side table) a small couch, for two people it's fine. We had the view of the brick wall, but there are oc3an rooms, I would say you have to request it, however the staff, ( cleaning ladies) were lovely and so nice, their is no on-site laundry, you have to pay for that, but there is a 24hr laundromat probably a 5 min walk, much cheaper to do it yourself, we did not use the restaurant so I can't give a food review, the gym is very small, no pool, the bathroom is small but ok for one person at a time, water pressure

The row of houses today is a sterling splendid example of adaptive reuse of heritage buildings that were of low density and low impact.
Historically, these houses were a redevelopment of the original Lee Kongsi building circa 1893, in a period when George Town's Kelly maps were just completed. The row was redeveloped by Koe Guan, the holding company of local millionaire and governor of southern Thailand, Khaw Sim Bee.
This row was the first residential and commercial expansion by Koe Guan outside of the original settlement that bordered Pitt Street. Houses built by local property developers along Stewart Lane and Muntri Street at the end of the 19th century were the earliest examples of mass housing that were taller, more imposing and with significantly higher ceilings as compared to shophouses built in other parts of George Town earlier in that century.
