Great little place. The hotel was small and quaint. And the staff was amazing so friendly and helpful. We even went out on their sailboat Azul to go see the sharks and stingrays. What an amazing trip that was. The Palapa restaurant that was at the end of the pier was a fun little night spot with live music and good food. During the day you could float around in it, floating tubes out and back of the restaurant and enjoy the site efficient stingray, swimming below. Blue Tang Inn was the perfect little spot. Only five minute walk into town some of the most delicious food around.

Great Location!
Blue Tang is a great location! We (6 of us) were on the 'seaweed' side of island and a little stinky while walking on beach, but still such a great area! The Palapa Bar and Grill was literally just outside of the 'resort hotel' on the pier and was so much fun! A very short walk to Cool Beans Cafe every morning for coffee ( even tho we also had coffee downstairs provided with a nice continental type breakfast that was included each morning!) Another great restaurant and bar next door called The Sandbar with excellent food! Employees/staff were wonderful and rooms were nice and quaint! Great views too as there is a 3rd floor deck and you can see the sunrise and sunset on other side of island! Not one negative interaction with anyone! Staff helped us book our tours and transportation for everything! Great tour guides and lots of adventures! We rented golf carts and rode to other side of island to Secret Beach a few days....so much fun!

Stay Away Not Worth The Rate!
First of all the website advertising is not the condition of the rooms! The ads are definitely a lot nicer than the actually room! The first notice was a musky mold smell. The 2nd situation was the AC being all the way down on temperature never got cold. Third the mattress should have been changed out 20 years ago. Lumpy and dips springs terrible sleeping! Shower had no water pressure and no hot water! Small bathroom! No counter space in bathroom just a sink. Definitely could not swim in water. Seaweed was terrible and stunk! The pool is very small. Overpriced for the hotel. You can go to a resort and stay for less money a night! Left due to obtaining a rash after the 2nd night. Paid for a week of stay up front. Let after 2nd night and hotel would not issue a refund! So of course had to dispute with bank to get funds back! Highly recommend staying away!

Words can not describe how wonderful our stay was !!! It sits directly on the beach , just steps away from the water. It has the cutest pool that so well taken care of and clean. The staff from the front desk to the night time security guard was the absolute best !!!! Don’t let its small quaint stature fool you , this is the best place. The location is central to everything. Splurge and get the ocean view room , SO WORTH IT ! They booked all the excursions and if they didn’t have something they worked hard to find something else. They really are committed to making you feel so relaxed and happy! They were so eager to answer all my questions (I asked a lot haha! ). I can go on and on but I think you get the point ! BOOK THIS HOTEL !!!

Great hotel on the beach
Love the hotel - right on the beach, a short walk from the ferries and all the snorkeling excursions. Took their sailboat for the sunset cruise and it was really fun. Multiple places to hang out - up on the roof, at tables on each floor, down at the pool, the area where they serve breakfast - which is really nice. Big room and full kitchen (used the refridge which was great to have). Really great place.

I felt safe at this property. It was in a good location where restaurants, bars, and downtown was within walking distance. The room was very clean and comfortable. Needs better water pressure.

This was a charming hotel, friendly staff and close to everything. We got the room with ocean front but balcony had no sliding door. Need to go out of room to access it. Unfortunately, right in front of hotel is a very loud bar that will not let you go to sleep at night. If your out partying perfect but for m husband and I we wanted to get some rest, it was impossible.

This hotel is right on the beach and has easy access to everything on san Pedro Island. The free morning breakfast was nice and it was close to multiple restaurants. They were able to give us recommendations for golf cart rentals and several excursions. The air conditioner in the room was fantastic.

The staff was so kind and helpful. The room very neat and clean. Breakfast always amazing. My only comment is the sargassum. The smell is quite invasive and it appears your neighbors don’t clean it up. Regardless, we would stay here again but hope the seaweed issue is addressed.

This was a perfect place for my husband and I to enjoy our honeymoon in San Pedro. Loved that Palapa Bar and Grill was right at the end of the dock out front, so easy access to food and drinks and live music in the evenings! The place was very clean, and the little area out front is perfect for enjoying the complimentary breakfast. Our only issue was the wifi. It sometimes was spotty, but other than that, everything was wonderful, and all for an affordable price. Would definitely recommend.

We stayed here for the last leg of our Christmas vacation until we tested positive before our departure back to US so ended up staying another week. The hotel staff and management were wonderful to us. They were super helpful getting us through our quarantine and bringing us groceries, supplies, etc and always a delicious breakfast with a smile.
Besides our unfortunate situation, the hotel is centrally located, with a beautiful view and offering of activities. Our room was large with a full kitchen and sitting area.

The room was clean, drinking water right outside our room, scrambled eggs at breakfast were delicious! AC worked great, even watched a movie on Netflix in the room. Staff was very friendly and helpful, would definitely stay here again.

We felt safe and super close to restaurants and grocery stores. We walked all around town and never felt a need to have a golf cart.
Rooms had olenty of space for our family of four. They have plenty of clean water available to refill our water bottles and provide a pitcher for your fridge.

This property was excellent. It’s right on the water and in a prime location to tons of restaurants and a supermarket is a 1 minute walk. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They picked us up from the water taxi and dropped us back off when we left. They helped us set up a snorkeling adventure which was amazing. The interior of the room is outdated but I didn’t care one bit. It was so clean and the bed and pillows were comfy and they have nice towels as well. I would definitely stay here again if I came back to San Pedro.

Very cozy, quaint, old style hotel. Loved the garden, mahogany and wood in the rooms and common areas, pool area and mostly, the overall vibe. Staff were extremely courteous and friendly. Our needs were always met. Great place to spend some time in the actual town of San Pedro. We walked everywhere so no need of a golf cart. Excellent lodgings! Will stay there again!!

I was in room #3 and found it to be really comfortable. I believe it was one of the \"budget\" rooms but still had 2 queen beds, A/C, ceiling fans and a kitchen. I liked the location and would definitely stay again.

This place is a steal! It’s located in the city centre facing the beach (not private, mind) so it’s great for people visiting and wanting to get to some of San Pedro’S restaurants, shops, art galleries, etc.
The rooms come w a kitchen which is a save! Coupled with richie’s supermarket that’s a 2 min walk from here, it’s great that We have the option of cooking, esp dinner. The San pedro roads get a bit dodgy at night and many may not prefer having a late dinner out and walking the deserted streets past 8pm. So it’s nice in that sense that you can cook or takeaway dinner and eat in the comfort of your room.
Room amenities are great - good Wifi, AC and fan, solid hot water in the bathroom, etc. They even provide a water container to refill your drinking water, and each room comes w a water jug in the fridge.
It’s very well sanitised - great Covid protocol followed.

I would recommend Blue Tang to anyone. The beachfront location and the proximity to town were outstanding. The office staff were very friendly and helpful with all of my requests. I really enjoyed the homemade breakfast provided by the same lady each morning. Even the security guard (Victor) helped make my stay very enjoyable. Wonderful experience at this ocean side hotel. They booked a snorkeling tour for us thst left right from the hotel dock. Rooms are big beds are comfortable. We got early chick-in because the ferry from Corozal only runs in the AM and we were very early.

I had a wonderful stay at the Blue Tang Inn. The staff were so helpful and friendly, with all aspects of my visit, even when I needed help applying aloe to my burnt back. The morning breakfasts were tasty and the location is awesome. Only a short walk to supermarkets, restaurants, beach and water taxi. My room was comfortable and clean. I would definitely recommend a stay here.

This place was great. In the heart of the action. Nice pool, good breakfast, clean, and great staff. The only issue we had was the fact that the room was facing the street which got a little noisy but thankfully there was a 10pm curfew so it wasn’t too bad. Overall great place to stay.

The problem with hotel websites is that many times the pictures look better than the reality. That is NOT the case with Blue Tang. Definitely get a unit that faces the pool/beach. I wish them all the best in this time of crisis (Covid-19) and hope they can stay afloat....

Great place to stay for the money, location, inclusions and staff. Close access to the island ferries, beach bars and restaurants, and San Pedro. We enjoyed the kitchenette and refrigerator, and didn't feel like we had to eat out every meal. The bed was comfortable, and the staff were very friendly and helpful with their recommendations. The breakfast included with the room consisted of good-quality fresh fruit (papaya, pineapple and oranges), bread/toast, boiled eggs, cereal, a hot dish or two (scrambled eggs, breakfast burrito, potatoes, etc.), and coffee/fresh OJ. The only ding was the physical location of our room relative to the busy beach \"road\" and the golf cart volume at night. I imagine the other rooms that were further away or higher than the ground floor were a little quieter. I would definitely stay there again.

A spontaneous day trip
We were coming back to Belize from Roatan and decided to fly up to San Pedro/Ambergris Caye. We booked online for that night. We were greeted by Jermaine to let us in our room. The place is absolutely cute as a bug. Rooms were big and well appointed. It is right on the beach. The rooftop terrace was wonderful for a 360 degree view. We will for sure be back!!

Cons-most staff was excellent, but we have a issue with rental of a golf cart from front desk. I was told the rental fee was $45-50 Usd per day. Upon check out a rate of almost $80 usd per day was charged. After making contact with staff this issue was never resolved.

If you are looking for fancy or to be pampered, this is not the place for you. We wanted to be in a location where we could walk, try the local food and get off tourist row. THIS IS IT! Fantastic location, everything was clean and well kept. Only complaint is that the beds are extremely hard and uncomfortable. Other than that, we will definitely be back to Blue Tang. We truly enjoyed the island, people, food and everything about San Pedro.

This is a great hotel in a very good location. Our room had a nice full kitchen and the free breakfast had everything from homemade waffles or pancakes to eggs, fruit, toast and cereal. The staff is very courteous and helpful, we would totally recommend this place to anyone!!

Blue Tang Inn was very attractive and well cared for. There was a very good restaurant, Palapa, right on the pier in front of the Inn. The office staff was most helpful, especially Roger, who answered all my questions each time I emailed them before we arrived. Breakfast was included and was served on the patio each morning. They even had their own sailing boat upon which we took a snorkeling trip to Hol Chan Marine Reserve and the Shark Ray Alley--lots of fun!

Loved the convenience of the location and the helpfulness of the staff. They have golf carts available to rent directly from the hotel, so that made getting around easy. Free WiFi was great and having a kitchenette in the spacious room was perfect for the 3 people we had staying there. Only small complaints were that the water temperature in the shower was sometimes inconsistent (can turn a warm shower to freezing or scalding whenever anyone else on that side of the building flushes or runs the water) and the street side of the hotel is quite noisy. I slept with earplugs every night.

The staff at hotel are great. They book trips, golf carts, etc. Hotel is very walkable to restaurants, bars. We were in room 4 by pool so had to keep curtains closed most of the time but was not a real issue. Very quiet at night. The only issue was extremely low water pressure, but this may be a island issue.

We loved the coziness of Blue Tang. It’s a little busy as it’s right by an intersection on the beach, but our room was in the middle of the resort so it was quieter. The staff is super friendly and helpful- Germain, Roger, Victor, Esmeralda, Carmen, Emelda, and I know I’m forgetting someone. Esmeralda was our breakfast host for the majority of our 10 day stay and she was great and kept things clean and well-stocked. The continental breakfast was not the usual stale danish and banana that we’re used to in the States. It consisted of fruit, hard boiled eggs, cereal, coffee, juice, and crock pot magic. Whatever is in the crockpot that day- try it! Local food such as Johnny cakes, beans, cinnamon bread, and fry jacks, plus they made waffles and pancakes 2 days. The location was perfect for us - in town and close to local eateries and all the dive shops. We’d stay there again!

We were heartbreakingly disappointed with the Blue Tang. We traveled from the US with our two young children to vacation here. Over 18 hours of travel. When we arrived it was shocking. The hotel is very old and is crawling with the most unsavory of sort. We were approached by hustlers and beggars outside of our room. Drunks screaming profanities at the top of their lungs. There is no proper beach here!!! There is a dock and a concrete barrier do not let the very misleading photos fool you and the area is crawling with drunk people driving golf cars like maniacs creating a dust bowl in the air of unpleasantness making walking around tough. This is not the relaxing beach holiday people dream about. The swimming pool is teeny tiny. The room itself, dark, dank and filthy! My kids walked around with their bare feet for five minutes and their little feet were black. The worst part was the gas smell coming from the stove in the room. It was dangerous! Take it from us, this is somewhere you stay if you are desperate and homeless, not for vacation.

Nice place. No beach. Lots of sea grass. The photos online are right on except that it is not a private beach. It is a public, walking thoroughfare. The water is not drinkable but they do provide all the bottled water that you may need. As nice as it may look, if you do not like stairs, do not book a room on the 3rd floor. The place is clean and housekeeping does a great job. There was no real noise to tolerate even from the waterfront bar. Another good thing was no construction. Town is close by so plenty of restaurants. If you truly enjoy cuban cigars, be sure to visit Havana Cigars.

Had a wonderful time at the Blue Tang. The location was fantastic: close to town with two great piers for swimming and eating right out front. The staff was terrific! They were very attentive to any needs and the hot breakfast was a nice bonus. We loved the extra space in our room for our family of four. We had a great time on the sail and snorkel tour offered by the hotel. . Overall we were very pleased with our stay.
