Could have more empathy
The hotel offers a shuttle bus to and from the airport but only from 05:10 to 23:30. Plan your trip accordingly, and you have to call them when you arrive the airport. It’s a five minute shuttle ride to the airport, so it’s convenient - given if your travel time is within the range that they provide service. Otherwise, it’s 20 euros with Uber. If you book from hotels.com, the hotel is not very responsive, neither does the hotel reply to email. The hotel expects you to read FAQ properly (I don’t know how many people do so on a vacation with multiple bookings in line) - they said the automatic message for transport did not go through, which is not their fault nor my fault. Yep. Just make sure you read the FAQ.

The hotel is a real mix of experiences. Staff friendly. Downstairs facilities poor with large soulless dining area. Although drinks are available bar area is uninspiring with a few bar stools and table. Lounge consists of one unit of chairs put together. Upstairs is another world. Great quality in room and bathroom. A shame as lack of facilities for food make it a one night hotel.

We were well accommodated at the Hotel New Bilbao Airport. All was wonderful. We did have to leave very early for our flight back to the US. There was no coffee machine in the room. The hotel breakfast was not available before we shuttled over to the airport. Definitely not a deal breaker, but if they could have had a simple coffee machine in the lobby to accommodate the early birds, that would have been great! Thanks for a very nice stay!

2nd time we stayed and used airport shuttle both ways but this time the pickup driver told us he was only the driver and would not help with the bags, including for a woman whose bag was quite heavy; plus he kept the doors and windows open in 6C weather waiting for other passengers

Unfriendly staff acts like guests are inconveniences. I was an hour early for check in and another guest was 30 min early. The front desk refused to check us in early despite available rooms. I understand rules are rules, so that was actually fine, but no one smiled, say hello or acknowledged you. Driver of shuttle was the same way. No smile, no hello, no acknowledgement and just left my luggage in front of the hotel. The only time he smiled was when he was tipped.
Nothing included in the room except a nice clean bed and clean, updated bathrooms.
Continental breakfast looked lousy for free much less the cost of 8 euros they charge. There are no restaurants near by except a restaurant in the Holliday Inn Express next door.

I know it can be tedious and quiet in the overnight, the person behind the desk at 03:30 was sleeping while staring at computer…. Overall the place was clean but customer service is awful.

The best thing about this hotel is it’s one of two that are close to the airport and it offers a free anirport shuttle service. Outside of that it’s a very bare bones hotel with limited amenities. Not the cleanest not the dirtiest. Just did the job to get us to our next departure.

Air Conditioning- we couldn’t get the room to cool down after accidentally over heating it. The system said it was on cool, but hot air kept coming. The room got up to 89 degrees.The window opened only 3 inches. Next morning the manager said, oh the cooling hasn’t been turned on yet in the entire hotel. Definitely close to the airport with free transfer in about 10mins. Plane noise not noticeable. Breakfast reasonable but costs an extra €8. Great rooms with big beds and modern fixtures and fittings. Would definitely recommend especially if wanting somewhere close to the airport rather than close to Bilbao centre.
